Prices were good, hostel felt safe and welcoming. No need to bring a towel because you can rent them for £2 for your entire stay. Check in and check out was quick and efficient! Location was perfect as the hostel is a short walk away from a tube station.

Had a private room with four beds and our own bathroom. Simple but clean rooms. Comfortable beds. A towel is £ 2.50. Great service at the reception. You can leave your luggage in a locked room with other guests luggage, no private lockers.

Great location and room clean only slight disappointment was I asked to store my luggage and got directed to an external pocket down the street. There is a luggage room and even a temporary one while work is going on I noticed downstairs. Not sure why I couldn't use that. Overall a great stay though price was great and great location etc. Would recommend. Looks a bit wierd with the scaffolding on currently but not a big issues

Quite a good hostel considering this is the first time for me being in a hostel. This place is apparently one of two places that offer kitchen facilities, otherwise most places will shaft you to eat out and spend top dollar. Even though this place is not the best price, it’s worth staying here for the kitchen facilities and you can get a discount staying here if you sign up the membership. Staff are friendly and are willing to solve your issues at your stay as I’ve had toilet paper stuck in the toilet paper holder and had loose taps. The toilet paper was able to come out as normal straight away and the hot taps were reinforced too good making the cold taps needing to be tightened. The kitchen facilities were a good size however it had food from the previous guests still in the storage area, and for a couple of nights the sinks were clogged up (that was fixed up since however this sort of thing shouldn’t happen). Wifi is decent compared to other places I’ve stayed at because every time I turn on my iPad or phone, I needed to sign in to the internet, which is inconvenient because other places the device keeps the internet connections signed in. The rooms are clean and nicer than expected however a few spots have some holes in the wall. The room is a decent size but at times feel squishy for me as I have to get to my bed with people in the way. Location is really nice, just 10 minute walk to most nearby tube stations such as Oxford Circus and Warren Street stations. Overall, I’d stay here again, especially for what I’m paying for. London can be very expensive, but this place makes London more affordable than what the going rate is.

The hotel is pretty modern and newly equipped, which is great. There are few serious issues that would prevent me from staying here again. 1. The rooms have no way to cool down. The windows open just a little and after one hot day the room stayed hot for literally days, so we couldn’t sleep. The provided ventilator does really nothing. 2. The “continental breakfast” consists of few breads with pretty much nothing to it. 3. One small elevator for so many rooms isn’t enough. 4. I have absolutely no idea what hotel-star scale was used for rating, as it in no way corresponds with the 4-star level. The location and price are convenient though so it’s good value for money. Couldn’t imagine staying with a family though, even though we’ve seen many of them in the lobby.

We booked a room of 4. The rooms are pretty small, and the breakfast is nothing to fill your stomach with, nor good. But it's a hostel, so it's understandable. The shower box is pretty small. The beds are good. The location is great and the staff are very kind. Beside our unfortunate experience, this hostel is a fine 3.5 professional and not Google maps stars - not perfect, yet decent. The price, if hasn't changed since I've been there, is fine too, especially considering the location. Our EU to UK charging adapters exploded twice. I don't know if the way we used it made it explode - or it was the electricity of the room. Very unfortunate. The staff were really kind about it, and gave us a replacement adapter for our stay. On the second time they moved us to another room.

Lovely, clean hostel. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location. Good self catering kitchen with plenty of fridge space. Sadly no teaspoons 😉. Also free secure luggage storage if staying. Only real criticism is only one shower and toilet between 8, which at times meant quite a while for shower. Overall lovely hostel and staff. Definitely recommend and would stay again.

For a hostel it was fantastic, despite personality not being used to this type of basic accommodation. Location is excellent as it is walking distance to several underground stations (about 10 mins walk in most directions). It's just a shame it isn't really close to any one station in particular. Service was always friendly and helpful during our stay. The shared kitchen is well equipped, although it feels a little bit in need of some upgrading.

Noisy! Take ear plugs, but 4 people in an en-suite room at £105 and £5.99 for breakfast is otherwise unheard of in the city! Not soundproofed around the doors which would make an amazing difference! 2nd time we’ve stayed here, lovely atmosphere. Great place to walk to the British museum too. Just under a mile.

Tidy room, friendly staff. Have to walk a bit to the nearest tube station though, but for the price it's definitely worth it.

Good location, affordable price. Scaffolding in front facade. Okay for one night stay. Relatively clean for a hostel. 1 small lift is not enough for a 6 floor facility. Didn’t try the breakfast. Saw families around, but not sure if it is a family place. The Bathroom said only for our room, but accessible in the corridor by all. Shower need more shelves or hooks. They lend you hairdryer but There is no place to use it. I didn’t use it in the room thinking my roommates in the evening. I ended up using it in the basement. But A bit unlucky with the rude noisy bunkmate. Bed curtains could be a nice touch for privacy.

For a hostel I guess it was ok. The room was clean. They have a water filling station in the lobby. The bed was tiny and uncomfortable. The sink was also very small and had a shelf right over it so it was difficult to use. The continental breakfast was very simple. Just bread fruit and tea.

Central location and very kind accommodating staff. Good common area. However, after check-in I was surprised at the state of the room. The room was dark, cramped and just not welcoming or clean. I went out for a few hours and came back and when I entered the room the shower was continuously running and would not shut off. As it was a bank holiday, the staff told me it would take them a few days to fix the issue. I didn't feel comfortable staying in a room without a functioning shower so I asked that my booking be cancelled. Since there was no space in the hostel I had to book a hotel on my own. I was told a refund would be automatically processed since the issue was no fault of my own. This was on the 30th of April and it is now the 16th of May and I am still waiting on my refund. YHA is handling the refund and they are extremely slow at responding to e-mails. I don't understand why it takes over 2 weeks to process a refund. Based on the facilities and lack of customer service from the YHA organization, I wouldn’t recommend this hostel.

Really enjoyed my stay here. I felt that it was close enough to the tube and bus stations but far enough away to allow for a quaint feel with pubs and restaurants close by. The staff are super kind and friendly. Only bummer is the heat. We had one fan for a room of 8 women, very warm in the evenings. Does have a lift. Facilities were clean. Would for sure recommend.

Really good central location. You can take a walk in any direction and visit the many sights of London. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and spacious. The only thing I wasn't so sure about was that we were asked to strip the beds when we were leaving. I'm all for helping out, but when you have children to get ready and checked out by 10am, this can be very difficult. I would definitely recommend YHA Central to anyone wanting a cheap, clean place to stay with a great location. We will definitely be returning!

Was cheap and in a good location, and they allow teenagers under 18 to stay there by themselves, though we arrived in 10AM and could only get in our rooms in 6PM. Also, even though the room itself was alright for the price, both the bathroom and the toilet of our room were across the hallway and couldn't be locked from outside so we had to get out of the room every time we had to use the toilet or shower and nothing stopped the other hotel guests from using our bathroom and toilet (which they did). And the last thing is that they forced us to move to another room for the last two nights of our visit, which meant for us to move our baggage to the hostel's storage room in the morning and then to the new room in the evening and we didn't have a room for an entire day and we were in a separate floor from our friends in the other room (who also moved but to a different floor). Also, the fan didn't work and the hostel didn't bring us another one.

Ive stayed in over 8 different hostels in london. This is Literally not worth the money. Such a joke. Horrible. No privacy curtains, rude staff. And more expensive then places with better amenities and nicer staff. Waste of time, I had no privacy at all, the staff literally ignored my questions anf would rather be on their phones. Bathroom SUCKED, had 4 inches of water ankle deep after 2 minutes in the shower, no shelves or anything to put your dry clothes on- basically forcing you to walk out into the shared room with a towel. Let's not even start on the sheets. A single thick comforter that made me itchy, not even an actual sheet. Never EVER going to YHA again. At least it's generally clean I guess? But 2.50 pound to rent a towel? Lol please no other hostel is charging this degree of shenanigans without even a single curtain for privacy. That's hilarious. Oh amd there is no actual security at all for the luggage room or the things in your own room, anyone can take anything and their cameras don't work. Plus, a single hair dryer is in the basement shared with a single washing machine. Never, ever come here PLEASE! Wombats or SoHostel is so much better.

It was a very bad experience. Even though I paid the money for three days, I could not stand the extremely stuffy and hot room on the first night and left the facility. Everyone's luggage, belongings and towels were lying around because there was no closet to put them in. There was only a small window in the 8 person room for ventilation and it was half opened, apart from that there were two fans and it smelled of ward. Bathrooms and toilets were common for the floor, and if you wanted to use them in the morning you had to wait a long time. I didn't try the breakfast, I didn't use the common room. There was no locker for the suitcase, and only a phone and wallet fit in the small drawer.

One of the worst hostels experiences I ever had. Since the hostel does not provide lockers my stuff was stolen by a psychopath who was high on drugs. Lack of responsibility from the authority in the whole situation and no checks whom they are allowing in the building premises. Staff does not prioritise the safety and comfort of guests in shared accommodations. DEFINITELY A NOO!!

Really good location, very clean, friendly staff and great cafe area. Good affordable alternative compared with hotels in London which are eye wateringly expensive for most people. The nearest tube is about 10 minutes walk or perhaps a little less. Only downside is a 10am checkout which seems a little early but nothing major - elevator is also very small so factor that in when you're leaving in the morning when it's busy.

Great location, but the room is the worst I've been at yet, at the summer the rooms are like huge ovens, also barely open the windows for some fresh air. Don't take the food it's not worth it. They also made us leave our room in the middle of our stay because of a mistake with a different room. I don't recommend this place at all.

  • 3/5 Michael T. 1 year ago on Google
Great location, good breakfast but there were a number of issues with the rooms - clogged sinks, broken nightlights with exposed wiring, problems with ordering at the bar. There was also a great deal of noise from ongoing building work at the time of our stay.

The receptionist was very friendly they allowed us to check in earlier and leave the bags there until we were allowed to go to the rooms. There is a big saloon we're is quite and you can chill and work.

They have african women staying who are very loud and bossy and turn aggressive easily. One attacked me in the middle of the night, yelling at me from her bed and screaming insults at me including the terms 'witch', 'evil girl' and 'devil'. She totally freaked out because I had opened the window a little gap as the room was packed and smelly and some people were coughing. She closed it instantly and assaulted me and hit me twice in front of a staff member who I had asked for help. Instead of stopping her or at least rebuking her the equally black african staff blamed me even though it is an official health requirement of the place to keep the windows open. When another woman also complained about her behaviour the night before she attacked her as well. Staff member meanwhile called her mama in a flattering tone and reassured her she'd get anything she wanted. He defended the assault saying she was 'sensitive as a person of colour'. I paid £45 for the night in a dorm bed and had to leave at 0130am with 14 hours shift in my back as nothing was done and I wasn't up for staying with a maniac in the room. Reported to duty manager the next morning who wasn't really interested. They shrug it off like it wasn't their responsibility what happens on their premises. Maybe it is normal to hit and insult each other to solve a disagreement in Africa but it cannot be acceptable here especially not in a Youth hostel. They simply don't care.

We’ve been waiting for the hair dryer for hours, and it’s now over 1AM! This hostel only has one single hair dryer. The staff said some guest is using it, and they can’t do anything about it! Seems like guests can borrow the hair dryer and keep it for as long as they want without any punishment. This is happening everyday during the 3 days of our staying!

  • 3/5 Peter C. 9 months ago on Google
Locker storage in the room is only able to fit a wallet or phone. Luggage storage is by a special key card from the front desk, which is also the laundry room. The issue here is anyone can gain access and very limited security. I was able to secure more valuable items at the front desk. However I feel this should not be an issue. Would prefer the WC and shower to be ensuite for the room rather than outside. Overall amazing location, great staff, nice common room. Beds were average.

Good location for the London palladium, just a ten minute walk from oxford circus. The rooms only have one shower room with toliet between 8 people. The bed was hard and one flat pillow. It has an onsite cafe and seems like a friendly atmosphere.

disappointing experience, there was a construction in the window, the elevator was broken, a bunch of naked old people in the room, very good kitchen and good staff, but the rooms are not good, there was no towels on the first day, one bathrooms for 8 people, and not privacy at all not even cortains for the bed, also bad ventilation and very dark room. I only stayed in the room when it was time for sleep because it was not pleasant to stay there, the people we stayed with smelled really bad. And the bathroom sink for room 307 is a joke. very good location, but the room experience really disappointing

Left this morning after staying here two nights, room very clean and tidy and we had our own private bathroom, best shower I've had in a hotel. Clean bedding and comfy beds despite being bunk beds. Clean communal areas. Would definitely book to stay here again when we come back to London.

Location. Price. Cleanliness. Pick any three. Seriously impressed with our first visit to the YHA. Friendly staff, clean rooms, quiet at night, 24 hour bar/cafe. Would we (a family of 6) stay here again? Absolutely!

  • 4/5 Elaine H. 2 years ago on Google
The staff in this hostel is great. Everybody, with no exceptions, was really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet, but a bit too hot. We had to keep the fans on all night despite the fact that the temperature outside was about 18oC. The toilet was private, but in the corridor, which is not very convenient. I'll definitely go back - the staff does make this place special.

We stayed here as a group of 2 teenagers and 3 adults, booked out the room of 6 beds and shared bathroom/toilet between us. The friendliness of the members of staff, cleanliness, location and services make this the best hostel I've stayed at in London. Everyone from my family enjoyed the stay as well. Highly recommended!

Superb value for money. If you're expecting the Marriott for 1/4 the price you'll be disappointed but it's efficient, clean, tidy, well placed and excellent for us and our family. Rooms are a great size with ensuite. Bar is great value for money and the kitchen is perfect. We will be back again. Pillows are like sheets of paper but more avaliable when asked for!!

Really really good! Very cheap - me and 3 of mt friends paid £89.25 each for 3 nights in a 4 bed room. Private bathroom, easy access to and from the building (with disabled access), great location. What else to ask for? The staff were all lovely and helpful with smiles on their faces. Great place to stay!

As a family of 5 it is tricky finding hotels. YHA are perfect for us, the room was clean, quiet, modern, warm and comfortable. Great location for exploring London and excellent value for money. There is a quiet cafe/bar downstairs with helpful staff

Amazingly cheap price for a 4 people room, everything was clear , nice bar and staff. However the only thing is the walls are quite thin so other people can be heard from the corridor. Overall had an amazing experience and way more plus than we actually needed 👍

Excellent location. Quiet spot with lots of interesting bars and restaurants very close by. 10 minutes walk to Oxford Street. Very clean rooms and on a much smaller scale than other London hostels.

Centrally located, clean and confortable stay as a family: ideal for visiting London. A 6-bed dorm with ensuite bathroom and toilet in the centre of London - a few minutes walk from the nearest Underground station and Oxford street - with self-catering facilities: what more could you want! Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, promptly replying to my questions before booking and also during our stay. We really appreciated being able to access our room before normal check-in time, and that they printed out our boarding passes before our departure. Overall, a very nice experience as a family in London for the first time. Thank you all.

Clean room, good for stay overnight. There is a small selection for breakfast, but it isnt problem to bring your own. The problem is unconditioned rooms, it isnt even possible to open the whole window, if it is hot weather, you cant stay in the room neither sleep well. Good location of the hostel, quiet street. Metro is near. But accordint to me hotel is not good for 4 stars range, it is fit for 2 stars.

Very nice hostel and the breakfast was really good. But I did stay here 9 years ago when I 1st moved to this country. I have no problem with the people working there they were all really lovely and supportive. As someone moving to a new country I made the mistake of making this hostel my base. Was commuting out to reading (didn't really know any better) they were charging me over £20 (sometimes £32 for a tuesday or Wednesday) for an 8 bed dorm. Anyone using this as a base there are better hostels try St christophers. There are probably other places now this was in 2013. Don't get ripped off by these guys

I came here with friends who had been previously and had recommended the hostel. I was very happy with the choice. We booked a 4 person room with an ensuite bathroom and found everything to be nice, comfortable and clean. We went with the basic continental breakfast option in the morning which was around £5 and was tasty and filling. The location of the hostel is very central too, which is amazing for the price. I even recommended it to my own family members for future London trips, as soon as we'd left. I definitely would come back again when in London.

I stayed here for the central location. The room slept 8, and it was full. Overall, it was ok for one night, but I couldn't settle down. People were up and down all night, turning lights on and off, going to the bathroom or getting in late after going out. Worst of all, the room was stuffy and I wasn't near a window. I gave up trying to sleep in and got up at 5am. Went to shower, and the drain was blocked. The shower room was flooded and the water wouldn't go down. I reported this to reception, they didn't seem very concerned. Best part of the accommodation was the kitchen, with ample room in fridges for food. If you're on a budget, buying groceries and having facilities to prepare a meal are a must. There were microwaves, kettles, cutlery, plates etc, cups, stoves for use. I didn't like the florescent lighting throughout the building, but when lights are turned out in the dorms, one can use the side lamps, which are much more tolerable for neurodivergeant people like me.

I found this hostel very clean and neat. Rooms are spacious. Staff are friendly. The annoying part is you need to rent the towel and lockers with locks are very small only fit small items like wallet and watch.

  • 5/5 Helena 1. 2 years ago on Google
Great YHA. There are reviews that say it has basic rooms etc- it's a youth hostel. It's a base to sleep etc, not a fancy hotel! The rooms are clean and comfortable, the self catering kitchen is spacious with plenty of storage/fridge space. There's a luggage storage room with lockers for £2/£3 depending in size. The location is perfect-15 min walk from Oxford Circus, tube station not far and plenty of bus routes near by. The staff were by far the best thing about this hostel. So friendly, helpful and they were working really hard. We can't wait to go back and stay again!
