I guess if you need somewhere to store your bags for a day it might be a good option the only thing is there's no lockers and you'll have to pay £1 a day for a small locker outside of your room.

Definitely don't do the laundry it's £10 to take your stuff to the basement and pick it up the same way you left it. If you have any issues better be ready to solve your own problems because the staff will just say yeah we'll sort it out.

Nice place , good experience. The only problem is the showers , because I can't regulate the temperature.

I was needed in London at short notice. It was shortly before pay day so money was tight. I managed to get a bed for 2 nights for less than £60 at the Dover Castle hostle. There were cheaper places but I decided to stay here due to the rail links close by (Borough underground was a 1 minute walk away). When I got there I was a little intimidated, i hadn't stayed in a hostle for years. Any intimidation slowly vanished after a shower and getting into my bunk. The next day I had to go to office near Finsbury Square. I decided to walk, which is when I realised how close I was to everything. After a 2 min walk I saw the Shard, then the Thames. I walked over Tower Bridge (the scenic route) passed the tower of London and arrived at the office. That evening I was back at the hostle, where I got talking to an Australian and an American, and we bantered about the differences in our accents...the next morning I was able to check out and leave my bag whilst I exposed London. Great Stay.

This place is more of a hospital than a hostel. Stayed for one night and the entire room was seriously sick. Even though I left after one night, I still got very sick and have been bed ridden for days now, ruining part of my trip. No hand sanitizer around the place, could hardly call the rooms or bathrooms clean (also one bathroom and 2 showers per 30 people or something). This is conclusively the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed at and I’ve stayed at many.

The guy at the front desk was nice and polite and the location was good. However everything else was absolutely horrible! If you have a fetish for the smell of vomit Dover Castle Hostel is your place to go. The noise was absolutely horrific and the place was just all around filthy! After checking in it took about 10 minutes to decide to check out again and prefer the airport floor over this establishment. I totally understand budget and that I can't expect the world from it but this was just over the moon and unacceptable.

Average hostel. Will commend the cleaning staff for doing a very good job of frequently cleaning the bathrooms. They clean a few times a day. Toilets and showers were never dirty. Room was far too stuffy for me. Otherwise okay. Hostel is too expensive for what you're given but perhaps this is because I booked at a peak time. I wouldn't pay more than £20 per night for this.

Upon check-in, we had the pleasure of meeting one of the friendly staff members who provided us with excellent recommendations. They gave us insider tips on the best places to find delicious food, must-visit locations, and even where to go for groceries. After completing the check-in process, we made our way upstairs to our spacious and comfortable rooms. The beds were clean and I had a restful sleep during our four-night stay. The presence of a fan was particularly appreciated on the last night when the weather was exceptionally hot. We also took advantage of the common area, which featured a well-equipped kitchen for guests who preferred to cook their own meals, although I didn't personally use it. I noted the presence of two fridges and a cabinet, allowing guests to store groceries and keep them fresh for a few days, which we did use. In addition, we had the opportunity to visit the pub located on the ground floor, where we encountered more friendly staff. It was a pleasant surprise that we didn't experience any disturbances from the pub noise during the night. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and I highly recommend this place. If I have the chance to visit London again, I would definitely choose to stay here once more!

Good morning guys, BE CAREFUL, this weekend I stayed in this place, they have no place to store their things inside the room and someone stole my things and stole my friend's things. They don't have any security! There is a gentleman who lives inside one of the rooms and made us very uncomfortable. If you want to keep your things you will have to pay the part! They have no curtain that covers your bed and the curtains you have in the bedroom on the wall are useless because everything is clear! So if you want to stay there, I suggest you buy the closet, but otherwise you can lose your things, the cheap is sometimes expensive, believe me.

Reception is in the basement rooms above the first floor. No elevator, small hallways. Rooms were manageable. Small group room/kitchen. Very friendly and helpful staff. O.K place for a layover.

Great stay at Dover Castle Hostel as it was in a super convient location. The showers and rooms were a little cramped especially 6 people to a room but we got to know our roomates and it worked out. The tube is on the same street and Borough Market was not even a 10min walk away.

Spent one night here on a May weekend night as a solo traveller. This hostel offers spacious rooms, with bunk beds, and no sound insulation. The bar on the ground floor played music till 3am, which could be heard, and felt in the rooms above. Staff where friendly, and eager to make a great impression but are let down by the building which needs refurbishment. To become 5 star this venue could: - Deal with sound proofing between the bar and rooms above. - Replace mattresses on bunk beds with new ones - dodgy springs, and stains on the mattress of the bunk above you. - Provide more charging points or sockets in rooms. 2 in a room of 10 people doesn't make for easy charging of digital devices, and tech. - Upgrade the lower ground reception's facilities to include a second lounge, or chill out space. - Offer a cooked breakfast, or gluten free options.

The hostel has a good location for public transportation. The closest metro is "Borough" within 2 min walking distance. You also have London Bridge with approximately 10-15 min walking distance. I lived on the top floor which had clean showers, sink, and toilets. There is also a kitchen which was clean. The rooms are non-ventilated and the windows have small holes which let in air. It was cold in the room and no possibility to get an extra blanket even if you're willing to pay for it. I got a cold and had to sleep with some extra layers of clothes. There are no separate plugs beside each bed but a block with electrical sockets placed close to each bunk bed. The wifi wasn't strong so I stoped using it. There was also a constant noise coming from the roof (or pipes?) as if it was raining 24/7 even though it wasn't.

One of the best hostel near London Bridge with walking distance to Tower Bridge, Borough Market and the Shard. Availability of nearby transportation makes this gem more convenient. Rooms were neat and clean and were spacious as well.Staffs were very helpful. Hostel has a pub downstairs, with lots of options for drinks , live sports streaming was there. Overall it’s worth for every penny……!

Not great. I will start with the positives. The location is great. The center and all the tourist attractions are in walking distance. The price is also very good and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. The negatives are that the bathroom and showers are in bad shape. The bathrooms are incredibly tiny and in dire need of renovation. The showers would also benefit from renovation and better cleaning. In some of the showers you could not change water temperature and the warm water was out one night aswell. The worst thing is that there are only two bathrooms and two showers on each floor and each floor has multiple rooms filled with beds. The wifi only worked a quarter of the time and the common room was very small. There are no lockers in the room and the lockers outside of the room are tiny. Overall I would not come back, but if you desperately need a cheap place to stay it works.

Great place if you are on a budget or if you miss the last train like we did 😂 The staff member was very helpful and sorted us out with a bed for the night and at a great price!

Stayed here for 3 nights, liked it! The wifi is kind of weird, sometimes goes in and out. The bed was suprisingly comfy, and a good location for London, especially for the price. *Walking wise it's a bit far from the main tourist attractions but the electric bicycles make travel cheaper, plus they're fun (better alternative than Uber). Plenty of restaurants nearby.

Great stay in a mixed room. The staff is kind and the hostel was clean. I loved the fact that the hostel has a bar where you can have a pint.

The location is great.. Metro is close. Beds are okay but too soft.. Kitchen is located near our room. One thing I hate is such a noise around the hostel. In the hall was opened window and outside was -1°C so in the hall was also -1°C. But near that hall is bathroom, which does not have electrical outlet. The next thing is noise from the bar under our room. After 10pm they lowered the volume.. but for someone who need to sleep earlier the noise is kinda disadvantage.

The location is awesome! Next to a station. About the breakfast is good too. The bed could be better but is good. The staffs are really friendly. There is a good supermarket next to there and many stops to go by bus. I liked! But there have mouse in the kitchen. Hahahaha

OK for an overnight stay, nothing more. Within walking distance of Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Tate Modern, London Eye, etc. The 24 hour reception is a bonus as well. Only really suitable for those on a tight budget, and are not too fussy about creature comforts.

Friendly staff, affordable accommodation, secure location. Located in the center of the city, close to the London Bridge, and right near a tube station, there are many activities to do and lots of sights to see! The pub downstairs is great, and I can recommend that, if you are hungry, order a pizza, or two. Great experience!

As far as hostels go this is actualy good, clean beds comfy beds good bathroom facilities and well stay in almost central london for £18 AMAZING. The down side its located on top of a bar and the noise of young students and thudding music meant no sleep until 3am..... staff are lovely and the breakfast good. I would go back but not on w friday or Saturday night when the bar is likely to e busy

Stayed in the hostel for a night while I was on a vacation to London from Sheffield. The place is decent enough & has bunk beds that are pretty good. The place has a decent bar & provides continental breakfast.

Despite being way to old to come to this predominantly student pub, we like the staff, the beer is varied and plentiful and the staff always polite. Prices are good for London too !

Service was really awesome, and I would like to add wifi that needs to be improved as I was facing an error multiple times and reported to reception even though they fixed the issue but over all needs to be work on.

The location is great, being in central London, and lots of the more popular tourist sites are in easy walking distance, while access to the Underground is just a few steps away. The beds are soft. I prefer a more firm mattress, but I know people who would happily sleep on these. There are very few toilets and showers for the number of guests the hostel is able to accommodate. You may need to adjust your shower schedule in order to avoid the busiest times. Water is medium-hot. Pressure is low. Showers are not gender-segregated. There is one shower-room per floor, with two stalls per room. Some floors have more spacious stalls than others. Breakfast is served in the attached bar. It is self-serve and consists of bread (toasters available) with butter and jam, cold cereal, fruit, juice, tea, instant-coffee. Storing luggage in the luggage room is free. Lockers are available for a reasonable fee. On-site laundry is not self-serve, but the price is reasonable.

The location was perfect (central), staff was very friendly and service great, and the rooms were as described. In addition, the bar downstairs was a perfect spot to meet other travelers. However, during our visit, solely cold water was available including the showers, and toilets were barely cleaned (or then the other visitors were just super messy).

  • 3/5 Nienke 5 years ago on Google
The accommodation is honestly a bit of a mess, of course it's a hostel, cheap, so that's what you get. Bit sad the bar underneath plays very loud music untill very late. Rather unfortunate for people sleeping on the first floor. One toilet and two showers for 24 (2*12) people is just manageable. Breakfast isn't much choice but fine! Beds are old but I was very comfortable! Staff is very friendly.

The rooms were clean Beds were comfortable really nice white linen the only drawback there was nowhere to put your bags away in the room but it was outside the room nearby. Very clean and well maintained kitchen and bathrooms. They made an effort to keep these clean and I laid them for this. I had an issue at 2am. in the morning coming in to find someone else asleep in my bed! And they reacted promptly. Thanks guys for providing a beautiful stay. I enjoyed my stay great value stay!

This lovely place seems to be frequented alot by university students, I have only visited the bar and can say that the quality of food and drink is great. They are also very reasonably priced considering the location is very central. The food did take a long time to arrive but the taste was definetly worth the wait. I would recommend this place if you're on a budget and would like to grab a couple of pints with your friends.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at Dover Castle Hostel in London, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hostel offers great value for money, and despite a few minor hiccups, I enjoyed my stay. First and foremost, cleanliness was one of the highlights of this hostel. The rooms were tidy and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and lovely white linen. However, I did encounter a small inconvenience as there was no storage space for bags in the room itself. Thankfully, there was a designated area just outside the room where I could keep my belongings nearby. The kitchen and bathrooms were exceptionally clean and well taken care of. It was evident that the staff made a conscientious effort to ensure these areas were maintained to a high standard. I appreciated their dedication to cleanliness, as it added to the overall positive experience.

  • 1/5 Samantha S. 10 months ago on Google
No privacy and very little security and only 2 toilets and showers on each floor. It is also the loudest hostel I have ever been to, I would recommend this place to insomniacs

  • 1/5 Bianca S. 8 months ago on Google • 1 review
Look it’s a place to stay but I just wouldn’t recommend it. Showers are all pretty much broken and cold water apart from 2 the toilets are just kinda gross and not enough of them. sometimes I had to wait 20 mins just to use one. My bedroom floor had old sticky marks on them and no one came to clean. Don’t get me wrong location Is great they just need to put a bit of work into the place for the price your paying.

Rooms are good and kitchen also but the security sucks men and women of all age are mixed and if you know the code you can come inside easily. I had a bad experience with a drunk man in this hostel and even if the man were expulsed he could come in the room the next day morning.

NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN - DON'T COME HERE IF YOU DON'T LIKE TO BE HARRASED It's crazy how employees of a good business can ruin its reputation, had I not been harrased, cursed at and theatened by the receptionist, I would've given a 3 stars but my experience was ruined by the receptionist that accused me of being a sexist, threatened to call the police and told me to get the f out of the hostel all because i checked out late. Just charge me a latecheckout fee, NOTHING warrants this kind of behaviour from your employees even if a guest checks out late - this guy needs to be fired.
