LONDON’S WORST 1-STAR HOTEL PRETENDING TO BE A 4-STAR Everything is wrong with this hotel, from the terrible customer service to the dirty accommodations. I’ll invest time later by sharing more details, but wanted to quickly spread the word in case someone is planning a stay here. Avoid it and find an alternative accommodation. As a quick recap: The A/C and heating is controlled by sensors in the room watching your every move and turning off when you stop moving. They don’t verify people at the bar are staying there before charging meals to random rooms. The staff is rude and not well trained in customer service. Some managers were semi-empathetic, but the majority could not have cared any less. The culture of the hotel staff is focused on getting by versus evaluating the experience for guests. That’s fine for a small inn or lower tier, but is unacceptable for a hotel asserting itself as a 4-star hotel. The building is falling apart and has many mechanical and structural issues (I.e. late night fire alarms, power outages). Walls are paper thin and other guests are not quiet. No matter what you do, the sound travels straight through and floods the rooms. One of the nights of my stay, the power went out and my door’s lock stopped working, which was very scary.

A very modern minimal decoration following the Art Decor period . For me , reminicent of the hotel , belonging to the same chain , we stayed in in Rome. Lots of open spaces. All the staff I encountered were polite and helpful. The buffet breakfast space held an enormous variety of foods. Can't say I've ever seen such a variety of breakfasts on offer. The situation of the hotel so near Regent's Park made walking to interesting restaurants non tiring.

On arrival from our flight we were told we would have to wait until 3pm for our checkin even tho we had arranged with them to check in early . It was dealt with very poorly with insufficient thought to our needs , but they still asked us to PAY UP FRONT for our stay of two nights ! Also securing a 25 pounds security fee which we were told would not be taken from our account ?? This baffled me slightly as I’d just paid 1,076.00 For a room I couldn’t access for 6 hours . After we settled in I found the room adequate for our needs but it was lacking small details , Hand towels , face cloths , etc The bathroom light bulb was flashing constantly but a grumpy maintenance man came and fixed it . The bar staff have a problem with customer service and we encountered a very cold stoic atmosphere and service They were unable to provide my daughter with a simple bottle of still water and a cup of coffee as the machine had been turned off !! They did not offer to go to the dining room to use theirs 🤷🏼‍♀️ In short this hotel portrays to offer excellent service …. It does not It offers customer service satisfaction … it does not I am used to much better service than this and a friendly welcoming smile goes a long way , I will never return and tell others to book elsewhere Awful hotel

"Nightmare hotel while traveling abroad" Please read and avoid at all costs. Choosing this hotel cost me a lot of money and it was not worth any of it. I planned a family trip to London for the summer of 2023. Costco travel had this hotel on their hotel list but it had not yet been rated. I figured if it was in Costco Travel then it would be decent. This trip was a big deal for me because it was a trip of a lifetime & I had to save a lot of money so I could have a nice time. Hotels are a big part of my vacations and I like to be comfortable. I booked 2 rooms for 8 nights for 5 people. One room had access to level lounge. The hotel looks nice on the outside however when you walk inside its a different story. There are strong cologne smells in the lobby which the hotel does as a scent on purpose. It does not smell nice. Then it gets much worse. Our room which was room #716, on floor 7 had such a horrible smell that I could not place. When I walked into our room there was a different smell which my son called a "pet store smell". We had a junior suite which was big but not furnished. It had 1 small round table, a small dresser slash clothes Hanger. Only enough furniture for about 1 person staying there. The side table was dirty and i knew if that was dirty everything else was too. There was a hair on the bed sheet...The bed comforter was as a thin as a bed sheet. We had to keep requesting blankets. The bathroom was extremely small. There was no furniture to put any of your things on. Basically everything had to go on the floor. A few minutes after checking in I called Costco to get out of the booking. Costco said everything else was booked and that the hotel would most likely not refund me anything since everything was paid up front. I called Costco twice and all they could do was call the hotel and ask them about the furniture. The front desk acted suprised about the furniture situation. The level lounge was sub par. There were flying insects and a limited variety of things. I would rate this hotel a 1 star at best. Throughout the stay nothing improved. The horrible smells in the lobby, floor 7, & room #716 remained prominent throughout the stay. I tried to stay away from the hotel & only stayed there to sleep. It was so bad it almost ruined the vacation. Please save yourself a bad experience & do not stay here if you want a decent hotel. A funny thing happened on the day we checked out. While waiting for the elevator, I saw a man complaining about the smells in our floor 7 and his room and the person helping them acted like there were no smells! Then while checking out the same person was also checking out early because the hotel was so terrible.

Choosing a hotel often hinges on the quality of service provided. Unfortunately, during my stay, I encountered an very rude staff member whose aggressive behavior dampened my experience. His demeanor was unwelcoming and made my stay unpleasant. I hope the hotel takes serious measures to train their staff in cultivating a friendlier and more respectful attitude towards guests. This encounter had a notable impact on my overall experience, and I sincerely hope the hotel addresses such instances to create a more comfortable environment for future guests.

Great location for various tube stations. I book this location as preferred for any work meetings in London. The boss is always happy to stay here as he gets to run round Regents Park during his stay

I recently stayed with them for a night and I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is at a great location, the room (though small) was clean and renovated and felt luxurious. The staff was helpful and polite. The breakfast in the morning was really amazing, one of the best I have had at any hotels in London. I would definitely come back and stay with them again.

For a 4 star hotel we were disappointed. The room came with a dodgy kettle, there was no tea cup or spoon, the bathroom smelt of damp, the towels was not soft and fluffy, the reception didn't pick up the phone so we had to go down every thing to speak to someone. When we did speak to someone we had expected them to come up straight away but never. The hotel was full of tourists and busy, but still. Oh 4 lifts and only 1 ever was used. What's the point. All for show. For the price it cost the standard and service was not worth it. I can find cheaper with better service. The only going for it is the location. The bar was fine. I would seriously look elsewhere.

The hotel itself is charming, with well-appointed rooms and exceptional staff who are both welcoming and efficient. These aspects made my stay quite pleasant. However, I encountered a recurring issue during the check-in process that I believe needs attention. On both of my stays, I was asked to provide proof of pre-payment for my room. This required me to search through my bank statements and email a confirmation to the front desk – a process that was not only time-consuming but also quite inconvenient, especially considering the reservation was made several months in advance. I understand the necessity of verifying payment details, but I believe the process could be more streamlined and customer-friendly. A quicker and more efficient check-in experience would significantly enhance the overall quality of service at your hotel.

Perfect hotel! We took 2 suites so we had breakfast in a separate restaurant that is open almost all day. There is Tapas bar in the afternoon included. The staff were amazing. We got service from at least 15 members of staff and they were all wonderful. A walking distance from Oxford Circus. We enjoyed everything

The staff are very friendly . The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was good. We would stay again. Good value for money esp given London prices. It is worth upgrading to Level premium service.

I have stayed here twice . Very cozy place, good breakfast selection, vegan options available, gluten free options available. Pleasant staff, love the location. Close to Oxford and a park. Not far from Tube. Easy to find Taxis as well. Enjoyed my stay.

Perfectly placed, and easily accessed. Great bar and elegant setting. The rooms are high standard and, the bathrobes one instantly drys in after an awesome shower made me, "up my robe game." I paid nearly £300 for a double bed room which, I must admit felt slightly over priced for the time of year. However it was a great night out with a timely return, thanks to the great location.

Great hotel for a short stay, especially for business trips as is so close to many offices and the tube. The rooms are great and the breakfast selection is amazing. The location is a little bit noisy even at night and walls and windows are a little thin, so you might struggle with sleep a little bit. The service could also be better. We had paid over the phone and were then told on arrival that the payment was not settled yet and at first they couldn't find one of our booked rooms. But it was all fine in the end. Would stay again.

The worst part is the bed. I booked a king bed and it was actually 2 twin beds sitting next to each other with a sheet over it so thin you can see the pattern of the mattress through it. So in effect, I’m sleeping on a twin mattress because I definitely can’t sleep in the middle (see picture). The mattress itself is so firm my limbs fall asleep at night and I keep waking up with numb arms. I also found hairs in the bed when I first arrived that were definitely not mine. In addition… The shower head doesn’t stay in place so I have to hold it while I shower. The rooms don’t come with a steamer or iron and I had to request one to my room twice. I put the “don’t come in” light on for my room in the morning and they came in and made the bed anyway. Plus in my limited experience with London it rains A LOT and they don’t offer complimentary umbrellas like the rest of the places I’ve stayed— you have to rent one for 2 pounds a day. I picked this location because I’m traveling for work but if you’re here for vacation it’s in a weird corporate building area far from the cute bars and good shopping. I would NOT recommend and I will not be back.

Amazing location, next to the park. Tube is 4min walk ,ideal to get anywhere you need. Rooms are pretty small, but nicely decorated. We really enjoyed our stay there, as we were waiting for our place to get renovated:)

Really enjoyed our stay here. Location was within a few mins walk of 2 tube lines and 10 mins of 2 others so v convenient. The hotel has a lovely boutique feel and the room (which was an upgrade) was great and had the biggest bed I'd ever seen. Breakfast was amazing - so many choices. Helpful staff.

Amazing hotel! Super friendly and helpful staff, great clean room and an amazing king size bed. The level services are spectacular with extra breakfast options that didn’t disappoint. The location of the hotel is also very convenient so definitely will be back.

Absolutely beautiful art deco hotel, only stayed one night for a teaching course but dinner was lovely, polite and helpful staff. Very clean, nice bar area. my only complaint about the room is I hate feather pillows but I'm sure if I had stayed longer I could've got this sorted

Mattresses were incredibly hard, pillows are way too soft. Towel rail and holders were falling off the wall. Shower glass cracked. Given Room 200 which is a Premium Double, but charges for a Premium King (no sofa, small room). So busy that sometimes elevators will say they are not available. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was very accommodating when my baby had a small accident on the bed.

Stayed here from Sept 29th to Oct 3rd Thanks to Costco travels for putting us up at this hotel. Btw, it’s cream in colour. Not white. Seems busy at times in the lobby, but super quiet and comfortable in the room. Beautifully furnished. Comfortable bed. Turn down service The breakfast is magnificent!! Anything you want is there. The spread of pastries, breads. all kinds of foods that make up an English breakfast and an omelette station to boot. All kinds of coffee. Great service, extremely friendly staff. Pastries available in the afternoon. And free Tapas with drinks beginning at 5:30pm. Beyond expectations

Clean and cozy room. I particularly like the newly renovated bathroom. Locations were great as it situated in between a couple of central tube stations. But noise isolation was kinda bad, and A/C is not really working. Also personally I don’t like the painting in the room as it looks creepy when there’s a portrait in the hotel room.

  • 3/5 Francis G. 4 months ago on Google
Rooms deluxe were very small. There is no door in the bathrooms, showers no door. Poorly designed from my opinion. Service was wonderful. Even after I asked for no smoking, I got smoking floor. Changed room with non-issue, but the room was occupied when we opened the doors, third time was the charm. Location of the hotel was convenient, Breakfast was wonderful, and there were plenty of choices. Sorry for the 3 star but the initial check-in experience and the room size is the reasons for it.

My experience at the Meliá White House has been a mixed one. I'd like to commend the exceptional service from Mr. Amus, the maître at "The Level." However, there are areas that need improvement. Communicating with the service staff was challenging due to their limited English, resulting in difficulties in requesting basic services specially at the restaurant breakfast with two persons of the staff. While the check-in process was efficient, the receptionist lacked the warmth typically associated with Meliá. Crucial information, such as the restaurants included in the half-board, was not provided. Despite booking a premium room with a confirmed upgrade to a junior suite, we were assigned an undesired family room. The lack of attention to reservation alerts was evident. The stain on the sink and the incomplete half-board menu with supplements were disappointing. I highlight the quality of the shower and the excellent breakfast at "The Level." Despite necessary improvements, the prime location and the hotel's potential suggest that with adjustments, it could shine even brighter.

Rooms are TINY and not really great for anything more than a one night place to put your head. No room service till 6pm or after 11, so if your flight is late or you arrive earlier but just want to go to your room, you're.go8ng to be hungry. Lifts need a re-think. If you're on a lower floor, expect a 15 minute wait (No exaggeration) to go downstairs as the lifts will be full of people coming from higher floors by the time they get to you. All in all a rather frustrating place to stay. The staff are lovely, but they can only work with what they have.

I really didn’t like the see through shower wall, I was with my parents so privacy was much needed. Other than that the staff always friendly and the level breakfast was great. Location is amazing and i always stay there when I visit London.

I stayed here for business the room was perfect. I love Rituals products so seeing them in the bathroom was a bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful. I even got help with some documents that needed printing nothing was too much trouble.

Great customer service, sits in a competitive price point however the service is what you would anticipate at a higher level which is great. Room clean and tidy, I believe the hotel is undergoing renovations and improvements. Bar area and restaurant also good. Location is perfect, walking distance to Euston, Mayfair, Central London sightseeing.

Stayed 2 nights. The rooms are lovely. Very comfortable, modern and clean. We had lunch and drinks downstairs. The food is very nice and staff are attentive and so polite & chatty. Everything you need at breakfast and more. A delightful stay in a beautiful hotel. Its highly recommended. Well deserved 5 stars.

Best hotel I have stayed at in London. Room was lovely and perfectly clean, hotel was easily accessible and very well presented. Most of all the staff were fantastic. Always friendly and helpful, nothing was too much to ask and we were made to feel so welcome. Will definitely be booking again next time we are in London

Friendly hotel, nice clean and spacious rooms. Well situated for Euston, the West End, Regent’s Park.. I didn’t eat at the hotel & nor did I use the bar so I can’t tell you anything about those. The reception staff were very friendly & efficient. I dropped my bag off several hours before check in so not to have to lug it around & it was stored very carefully in the luggage room. The toiletries were good quality & the bed very comfortable. All in all a good nights sleep.

Gorgeous Hotel! Rooms were big and very clean! Modern luxurious hotel, we stayed for 3 nights in the level premium, highly recommend. Staff were lovely and friendly but not too interfering. Beds were very comfy, would definitely stay here again.

Me and my boyfriend loved this. We were happy during our stay, the design of the rooms makes you feel positive and productive. Breakfast is delicious and they have wide variety of options. Great room service and the reception are friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend this :)

3 stars for the hotel, 1 only for the location. The rooms are decent, recently renovated. However there was a loud creaking noise from the ventilation system all night. The lift too made cranky noise especially since my room was next to the lift shaft. Breakfast was plentiful and wide range with a egg station. Best part for the hotel is its central location, close to the underground and to the Regent’s Park. I stayed for business and therefore well suited for my stay as the place was close by.

  • 3/5 Dr.Vivek R. 1 year ago on Google
I am rating it 3 stars coz despite it mentioned 4 star, because the rooms were very small. Even 3 star hotels have bigger rooms. Such small rooms that it’s difficult to move freely. The food was average, the local food restaurants are pretty good enough. I have never stayed in such small rooms anywhere in world.

  • 3/5 Senthil B. 6 months ago on Google
Expensive, neat , great staff, horrible A/C system! the centralized A/C doesn't work so well and lost sleep, the room was so hot. The staff was kind to give different room, and bent their back to accommodate me. Service was very good. only reason for 3 star. the building and utilities are very old, needs a better A/C system, elevators.

  • 4/5 Ayesha B. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel is amazing and in a great location, and breakfast far exceeded my expectations. The only reason this is not 5 stars is because the windows in the rooms are quite thin and drafty - so the noise outside was quite audible and woke us up several times in the early morning. Other than that the experience was perfect.

  • 4/5 IAreFranco 2 years ago on Google
Overall quite happy with our stay. The room was very shwanky with some nice in-built features like lighting controls next to the bed. The staff were attentive and friendly. The included breakfast was good quality with chefs ready to make things like pancakes or poached egg to order - a nice luxury touch. The only thing I'd mark down is the old windows in the room. These are really badly insulated and don't do much to stop the cold and noise from outside getting in. We had to laugh one morning - the sound of the wind getting in was like a bloke loudly whistling in the room with us!

  • 2/5 Nigel M. 1 year ago on Google
Good location. Efficient staff. Lift buttons poorly located. Not enough sockets and 3 were not even working. No computer desk. You cannot hang your clothes as you unpack your suitcase as they are on the same stand. No toilet brush. No stock in the mini fridge. WiFi wouldn't connect without going down to reception. The apple tart wasn't defrosted properly.

First time here in 40 years. What a modern transformation. Spacious rooms with all the amenities. Book the Level floors for lounge access perks. Next to London Zoo and Regents Park and easy walk to Regent and Oxford Streets shopping and 30 minute walk to theatre district. Very personable and helpful staff.

I had a really great first experience with Melia. At a time when London hotel prices are criminally high for not great rooms - I got a reasonable deal for a really nice size room with a real window and an actual view that wasn't of a brick wall. Large bed and stylish decor. Location mid way between East and West London and on the edge of Regents Park is amazing. The breakfast was outstanding and the evening snacks and drinks included in the price were a bonus.

Great hotel in a central position in London. Rooms are nice and well cleaned, the only issue is that the rooms are not soundproofed at all: you hear any noise coming from the corridor and from the neighbour rooms, either on the same floor or above you. If you have troubles in sleeping, bring some earplugs. Overall, it was a good stay

  • 5/5 Sarah L. 2 years ago on Google
A lovely stay! The staff really made it a welcoming stay. The room was lovely - comfortable and huge, we kind of didn't want to leave to go sightseeing! It is about ten mins walk from Euston and not far to walk to central e.g. oxford street. We walked everywhere due to not wanting to take public transport with covid rife and it was really accessible. We will be sure to stay again in the near future.

  • 4/5 AE G. 4 months ago on Google
Tiny rooms. Well appointed, modern feel. Weird that no washcloths are available. We even checked @ front desk. They simply do not have them. The breakfast room is wonderful. With great coffee, pastries, eggs, and sausages. The hospitality from the staff is 5 star. Centrally located to all sites. Located on the red route of the Golden tours hop on/off bus.
