Smack in the middle of Covent Garden, off Long Acre, is this lively little pub with lots of charm. With only a few tables and plenty of outdoor space, it’s always filled with interesting characters. Staff are super friendly too.

My must go to pub when visiting Covent Garden. It's warm and welcoming , plus they serve a fab selection of drinks. The staff are always super helpful and polite. It is a popular destination so often busy, but it's got an outside area, and a good place to sit and people watch as it's a busy street and quiet entertaining. It's an old school pub full of character and history. 100% pop in for a pint .

It's Saturday evening and a few drinks before going to see The Lion King are in order!! And, its gloriously hot. Covent Garden is soooo busy with everyone having fun wandering around and enjoying themselves. There is a really good vibe ! The pub is very busy and we're fortunate to get a seat outside. The service from the staff was brilliant and very efficient considering the amount of people wanting to get served. It's a traditional London pub with so much character and history and well worth a visit. Plus it's fairly big compared to The White Lion opposite....

Ate here after a long day of shopping in the area. The downstairs was incredibly crowded and noisy. We made our way upstairs to additional dining which was much quieter. A little limited on beer options. Friendly staff were helpful, but the food was just average. With pub food prices as expensive as it is today, we just hoped for better. The Hunters chicken was cooked well and tender, but the bbq sauce was not very good. The Steak and Ale pie was average but parts seemed overcooked and were pretty hard. Kale was everywhere on the plate. A little kale goes a long way, and seriously - no English peas?

It’s tourist central but does the basics well. Decent pints, classic pub grub, handy location. Feels all a bit fast paced and lacking that local feel in my opinion tho. More a passing pint or meet up pub than a stay for a few

Whilst I only have a beer here, this is a really nice authentic English pub. The decor of this building adds to the authenticity. There are a bunch of different drinks available on tap. The staff here are very attentive and we had a wonderful conversation. I would certainly return next time I'm in the Covent Garden region.

Perfect. Especially loved the Half chicken roast (shown in photo)! Got a table quickly for a Saturday afternoon, but it was indeed crowded (so be prepared to wait )

Review for upstairs restaurant. Great food and friendly staff with a decent choice of vegetarian/ pescatarian options. Beautiful and spacious decor. Only marked 1 star down as some of the glasses were dirty (lipstick stains); I’m sure this was a rare oversight. Overall, a lovely experience; thank you!

Absolutely awesome place. Visited it by recommendation of a friend that lives in London, and I know why he recommended it. The atmosphere is remarkable. Something that people in UK do not really appreciate, is that their bars, I clouding this one are more than a 100 years old. Good kitchen, as far as I may judge, had only fish and chips there, and it was good. Strongly advised!

Really nice place, fair prices (considering the zone), nice view, good service, good beer. Even the bathrooms are nice. We were sitting upstairs.

Visited with my 17-year old daughter, chose this place because we are Sunderland fans and saw it was a god pub on social media. Had pie and mash, the pie was amazing. Beer was costly, but it is London and we have cheaper beer in the North East so can’t really complain. Would go back next time in London.

Being a 1st time visitor from 🇨🇦 Canada 🇨🇦 my family and I were delighted to stumble onto this very charming pub in Covent Garden. The atmosphere was friendly, the beer was amazing but the real treasure of this pub is the staff. My family really enjoyed our visit and we are still talking about the fish and chips…absolutely delicious. The portions were great and it was amazing. Thank You Stephen for your recommendations and making us all feel welcome. Top Notch. We recommend you try this place out you won’t be disappointed. We all gave a 5 star rating but the food, staff and atmosphere there deserve more. 👍👍

The Covent Garden area is beautiful. I ate fish and chips in this restaurant, and it was distinguished by the taste and service of the restaurant.

Popped in at 3pm for a bite to eat. Restaurant upstairs was empty, but bar man was welcoming and chatty. Ordered burgers which came in a ressonable time and tasted good. Would recommend a visit

Busy pub on a Friday afternoon. Nice to see a different range of some beers. I had the Rivertown IPA which was quite hoppy but not too bitter. Nice to chat to the staff who were great!

Nice little not so little pub in covent garden. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the are. Good for the tub station and the shows.

This is a gem of a restaurant upstairs and away from the huge crowds of the bar. Food was a standard pub food, nothing special. However, it was very reasonably priced compared to other places in the area. The staff were doing their best, but it was extremely busy and we unfortunately had a large group that surrounded us so we decided not to stay for dessert. They were great at getting our orders and very friendly but it was unfortunately just very busy. I would definitely go back.

Nice pub. Great location. Good choices of beers, wines and spirits. Food available. A great evening, afternoon or lunchtime out.

Back to the Nags Head after a 3 years staying away from our once favourite west end pub… The reason we and so many others stopped going be it regulars/people that would visit one or two times a year was because it is still the only pub in the area (and we have tried out a lot) still charges premium prices for premium drinks in 1980s standard glasses… no decent glasses for each brand making a lively beer and not even a nice Gin glass mor any other different suitable glass…. I looked around a busy pub and have never seen so many flat pints in my life… it’s not hard to get a brewery to supply what every other London pub is using… Now wonder so many people buy bottles…

We ended up here after walking round Covent garden looking for British pun cuisine, the restaurant upstairs was beautifully decorated and wasn't very big however it had a nice pleasant vibe. I ordered the 3 tasting pies which were potato and leek, chicken and ham hock and steak and ale, served with buttery mash and veg, all the food was lovely and were generously portioned.I had the toffee cheesecake for dessert which was fabulous, the toilets were also very clean but for me the highlight were the front of house, they all were very friendly and polite and that's very hard to come by these days. I will definitely be returning in the future , when I'm in the area. we'll done The nags head 👏👏👏

A traditional London pub with a wide range of beers, wines and more. Situated close to one to Garden Market. Poplar with visitors. A simple pub menu with most tastes catered for. A pleasant atmosphere with lovely staff to look after you. Worth a visit.

PIning for a crusty roll and some SOup, if only to rest our feet for a while, we were welcomed here. This is a great spot, just up from Covent Garden, where you can sit down and watch the world (well, tourists) go by. A proper British boozer.

Wow, what a find! If you want action, dine downstairs. But if you want good food in an oasis of calm before your show, dine upstairs. It's fabulous with great food. Well recommended.

I can’t rate the food, as I only swung by for a pint. I had a pint of McMullen’s AK, which was a most pleasant mild, in excellent condition.

Called in midweek 'on spec' for lunch. Took advantage of it being 'Pie Week' (whilst in London and all!😉). My friend and I both thoroughly enjoyed our Chicken, Ham Hock and Leek Pie meals. Good selection of food and I especially liked that the meal and drinks options were all together in one menu. Very helpful. We found the prices of both the food and drinks reasonable. Staff were friendly and very efficient. Would definitely recommend and will visit again when in the area.

Fantastic traditional London boozer! Friendly service and a wide selection of drinks.

Very pleasant venue, "traditional" bar and seating area, wide selection of drinks on tap as well as bottled ciders. Food also available that judging by a table near me looked very tasty, and sizable portions.

This pub in the heart of Covent Garden has an old traditional style and atmosphere. The decor is a mixture of modern and vintage. There is a heavy theme of wood and it is very spacious to allow for socialising. The drinks are fairly standard prices for Central London. There is a good selection of drinks and the staff are quick with the service. The place is clean and it is a good place to meet with friends or colleagues.

There was some issue of over payment in first rounds drinks but the team was polite enough to buy a round without any extra cost. Overall polite staff and a friendly pub. I had a nice evening yesterday.

We went here on the way to see the only fools and horses theater show, we thought it would be fitting. How glad we were as it is a hidden gem, the restaurant was upstairs and was very nicely set out with street views of the surrounding streets. As for the food it was your traditional pub food, with reasonable portions and very tasty! The waiting staff were very good and attentive, we look forward to our return

Where I tried McMullen ale for the first time in life. After long walk in London as a visitor, this is a perfect stop for break with some pints. Foods are also highly recommended to try.

Great traditional London pub. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Pinot Noir passing an hour or so while the rain hammered down outside. Despite being very crowded early evening, service was quick and tables cleared of old glasses promptly.

Nice big typically English pub! Spacious, bright and airy, staff friendly, drinks a little over priced, but on par with London prices. Accessible, a bit loud, so wouldn't recommend if you prefer a quiet environment.

Popped by on a Friday afternoon for a break from the hustle and bustle of Covent Garden, great pub with a good selection of beers and a traditional pub style vibe.

  • 4/5 Louise S. 1 year ago on Google
Busy and loud pub, for what we were looking for a bit too busy, but if looking for a pub with a great place to start a night out with pre drinks then this is a good place to go. Stones throw from tube station exit and in the middle of Covent Garden. Friendly staff, even though very busy - were great at keeping on top of tables being tidy and clean etc

An English pub just off the market stalls at Convent Garden. To be honest I wasn’t expecting too much from here and thought it would be a tourist trap. Needless to say I am delighted to report that the beef Sunday roast I got was absolutely delicious! All the elements were done to perfection and a nice size portion too. Even the gravy was bang on! The beef was tender, the roast potatoes was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, veg was not over cooked and the Yorkshire was light and fluffy! Definitely recommend for the great location (especially if you like to people watch), the hive of activity (lots of buskers) and of course the roast which was very reasonable at £17.50.
