This is a picture-postcard pub, slightly out of the town centre. A pretty small interior, partitioned into different areas, creates a very cosy environment. Although it should probably be classified as a gastropub, it caters for casual drinkers and regulars, which is a real positive. Also you can get quality small food (albeit at Hampstead prices!!!) at the bar, which I also love. Drink prices are high, even by Hampstead standards, which would make me rate it 4.5 stars, if that was an option. Lovely, professional staff, and the care for regulars, however, makes it deserving of 5 stars in my opinion.

Very good Fuller's pub about 5 minutes (steep uphill!) walk from Hampstead Underground Station. Three cask beers on handpump when we visited. A few covered seats outside. The pub, which was built in about 1797, is Grade II-listed and is on the Campaign for Real Ale's London Regional Inventory of historic pub interiors. Very busy on the Sunday afternoon we visited, primarily with diners.

Fantastic food, five stars service, very helpful and polite staff. I had stone bass and my friend ordered fish and chips which I ate some of it. Both were really fine dinning quality. The chef is a magician because I have never had a tasty, crispy and thin batter like this fish and chips despite being a big fish and chips eater and tried many fish and chips in the uk. I highly recommend this place and would definitely go again.

I might have to say, I'm slightly disappointed after my experience here. I've heard so many good things about this place, and how the food was great. Unfortunately, I have disagree. The menu' looks very appealing, and the upstairs dining area was fabulous. I went there for dinner, and I got accommodated probably on the best table. Until here, everything was fine. When we ordered the first bottle of wine, we were never asked to try the wine first, and it got poured straight into my glass, not to mention the fact, it was poured first to me and not my partner. I understand it's a pub, but when you do spend ยฃ200 between two for dinner, I do expect the service to be a bit better. The starters: We ordered the crab ravioli, such a disappointment. Not cooked properly and most likely frozen. The inside, was cooked and warm, but the edges of the ravioli was hard. When I did question if the pasta was frozen, I was told by the waitress she wasn't really sure, probably not? Main Courses: We ordered the venison, which in my opinion was lovely, and perfectly cooked. Very small portion, that's why I was suggested to order an extra side. (The broccoli, extremely dry, with no flavour. Left them untouched) The other main course was the steak, which was a bit too chewy. Dessert: We had the pudding and the "apple" with custard ice cream, which was coconut. Both nothing exceptional. Of course, I did still pay for the full bill and for the service charge, but we haven't had the feeling form the staff wanting to make things right, as they did not seem that interested even if we weren't happy with the food. This is purely my opinion, but I wouldn't recommend to go there for the food, as you might be disappointed. Although, I highly suggest this place for drinks, beautiful location and a lovely vibe.

We did a mini pub crawl in Hampstead on our last day in London. We've been eating at this pub for the last 10 years and always get an excellent meal. It's also always crowded.

Great. A lovely British pub, serving traditional food โ€” all of that in one of the greatest parts of London. The place makes you feel home in a minute, the food gives you even more goose bumps. Simply great, with the fish & chips a proper classic .. comes with a light batter, pea chutney and sauce tartare. And is a must have if youโ€™re visiting Britain. The chicken was a great choice, too. And so were the desserts we enjoyed. Service was super friendly, would recommend it any day.

Holly Bush, simply my favourite pub. Crystallised in time in the best possible way. This place is like a warm hug and a taste of old England. Wish there were more like this.

A great venue. A bit pricey and parking around the area is a real challenge, but the food is great and the atmosphere warm. Bit confusing as there is a lodge / hotel opposite with the same name, but the venue is directly to the right down the street. Just ask anyone around they will be happy to point you in the right direction. Very busy and popular and for good reason :)

A dismal dining experience. The food here is overpriced and poorly prepared. The portion sizes are meagre. The service is decent but doesnโ€™t compensate for the poor standard of food. Everything is priced at a rather extreme premium. The cheapest main on the menu was ยฃ16. This was not a problem as we expected and elevated gastropub experience. Sadly the food did not deliver. Poorly executed, bland and the presentation was lacking. There are plenty of dining options in the area including many other pubs. I would suggest skipping the meal at the Holly Bush, itโ€™s simply not worth it.

Cute pub in a lovely location, have been many times before and the food is normally good. Visited recently just for drinks and it was slightly less pleasant. Very busy, sticky uncleaned tables, rude customers (but I guess they can't help that)

The food isn't bad but probably not good enough for the price. Some veg on the sunday roast grossly undercooked. Service wasn't great.

In response to the reply below: if you have a medical exemption, it's still irresponsible to be running food to tables if you are not wearing a mask. An exemption does not prevent you from catching the virus or transmitting it to others. -- In general we had a good time coming in last night โ€” the staff are really nice and they are mostly taking the restrictions seriously. But the whole experience was pretty much ruined by one staff member delivering food to different tables, who was not wearing a mask or social distancing. If you can't follow the rules and keep your guests safe (how does the restaurant know that one of the customers doesn't have a pre-existing condition?), then we just aren't going to come along again. Please be mindful of the regulations around covid, wearing a mask is not optional, and it's not a light matter.

Been wanting to try this place for a while now, finally managed to yesterday - and it did not disappoint. Firstly, the venue is adorable - and hosts a traditional English decor, with an array of individual areas to sit in (all of which are distinctly charming). More importantly, let me talk about THE FOOD. I don't often get taken aback by places, but there was something special about everything I ate here (besides the fact the food tasted absolutely delicious), each dish had a uniqueness to it - which is something I feel is key if you want to stand out as a restaurant. I had the cornfed chicken roast as my main. The chicken was perfectly tender, the yorkshire was FULL of flavour and the braised cabbage added the perfect amount of sweetness to it's accompaniments. This was followed by the passion fruit & mango cheesecake, which would not usually be my first choice - but I thought I would try something different. The creamy topping was light, yet still satisfying (without being sickening). The base was beautifully buttery, and the mango sorbet complimented everything else flawlessly. So much love and care had gone into making this cheesecake, you could taste it in every mouthful. Overall a superb experience, I will definitely be returning again soon to try more of their dishes!

This really is a busy pub if you wish to dine. Especially popular with the locals. There is so much history here and being listed as a Grade 2 building. You need to make bookings to avoid being turned away from their doors. Food is good and service reasonable. Food 8/10, ambience 8.5/10, service 8/10, value for money 8/10. Quite a hidden gem!

Probably one of the very most charming pubs in London. Even though fairly big tourists attraction food served here is delicious and not overpriced. I would recommend chicken fillet served with sep mushroom paste and hazelnut hispi cabbage. Tasty and original dish, definitely elevated style pub food. Good selection of decently priced wines. Staff committed to providing their guests with great experience. One of the brightest stars of Hampsteadโ€™s food stage.

Had a great Sunday roast here - beef and with extra gravy, of course. One of the other diners had the pork, which also looked and smelt good. Generous portions - most of us were not able to finish! It is a bit of a tight squeeze and especially if you come with dogs (as we did), it might be worth asking for a table with a bit more space (or in a corner).

Went here with the expectation of having fish and chips, but they'd run out of it. They should've been able to provide it at 7.30 pm on a Saturday evening. Had the seared venison instead; very good flavours, but the portions were probably on the small side, compared with the price. Very slow service (40 minutes+ for the food to arrive at our table, and 10+ minutes to get the bill and accept payment). The pub itself is in a nice location, at probably one of the highest points in Hampstead. The interior was nice too. It was quiet and cozy.

Service is great, cocktails & wine are good. The food was surprisingly underwhelming. We'd booked for a late afternoon Sunday Roast, & definitely recommend booking as it was packed! I love the vibe here - such a buzzing energy of groups of friends, couples, families. It's a great place to finish off a walk around Hampstead Heath. We sipped cocktails watching the sun set in the little terraced nook before venturing into the dining area for the roast. For starters, we sampled the beef fat brisket brioche with nduja, which was severely lacking in flavour and disappointly forgettable. The pumpkin veloutรฉ was light & flavourful but also lacking in something that made us feel disappointed. We all had the beef for our Sunday roast (asked medium rare) which was somewhat tough. Gravy lacked flavour, Yorkshires were ok, the quintessential roast potatoes were tasty but not crispy in the slightest and parboiled at best. Stand-out was the veg, however, and I don't think we've had a better carrot! The atmosphere, wine, & everything else was what made this is a great afternoon but the roast was nothing to revisit and apart from the carrots, I would not recommend.

Nice local pub with good ambience. A group of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was okay. We ordered the poussin and the cote de boeuf, the hake and the halibut. And the merlot to go with. I tried the poussin and the steak which were fine. The steak could have been of better quality though. The guests who had the fish dishes seemed happy with them. The dessert was very good though. I had the chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream and it was amazing. Served hot and was full of flavour.

Real hidden gem in Hampstead! Beautiful pub with a spacious space upstairs for dining! We reserved for dinner for 4 and were surprised by the atmosphere! High ceiling, wonderful drawings on the wall and not many tables which gives it a special vibe! The food was also very pleasant! The truffle mac and cheese was our favorite! Staff were very polite and friendly, making sure everything is alright ones in a while! Absolutely recommend this place!

A delightful village boozer that needs to be on a hundred walking tour and pub crawl itineraries. It looks and feels like a true English pub and this, coupled with King William IV Bar and Rooms are the bests bars in Hampstead. Notwithstanding Spainiards Inn which matches these two in aged feel. There is an uphill trek involved in getting here which serves to make the experience a bit of a mystery tour. All foreign staff though and no one behind the bar looks older than 25. Disconcerting...

The pub is cute looking but that is unfortunately not enough. The quality of the beef roast was poor and the veggie roast was served with an unappetizing looking watery mushroom gravy. Not worth the money! To top it off we were charged wrongly on our bill plus we accidentally tipped on top of the service charge, when we informed the manager of our mistake they were unable to just return the money but wanted us to pay the whole amount again to then refund it. Not very helpful !

I've lived a mile from this pub for the last 12 years and only visited recently for a meal with friends. The food was ok, the online menu is not up to date which I knew before we went. I would definitely go back here for a drink but I think the food is overpriced compared to other local alternatives and in my opinion not as good however others will obviously have their own opinion. The staff are very friendly and good choice of beers and lagers.

THE quintessential Hampstead/North London/English pub experience. The atmosphere and location are unrivalled. My favourite pub in the world, throughout the year but particularly special with the windows open during hot summer days or curled up next to the fireplace after a brisk winter walk on the Heath. This place is special. Martin the manager was very friendly and accommodating when we had a large group recently.

We went before the lockdown. Saw this place from timeout london 101. The pub is very beautiful and there were quite busy. But each table doesn't seem to have enough distancing. The staff were friendly and hard working during the special time. We had burgers. The price of the food was high compare to the quality. You have other pubs with better price and better food. Maybe we ordered the wrong food or the location is a high price location? Anyway, it is a lovely pub if you want to meet up with friends and have a drink.

We had lunch after our tour of West Highgate Cemetery. The service was excellent. The hostess, Naomi, was very helpful. She even recommended some local sites to visit. The lemon sole was excellent. Unfortunately, the octopus starter was not. We ordered it because it was not on the menu and thought it would be fresh - it was tasty but a bit chewy. Not sure it if was the octopus itself or the way it was prepared. The lunch was also a tad expensive. Our lunch with a main, starter, and two glasses of wine was $138. Helpful Hint: Take time to explore the neighborhood and the nearby Hampstead Heath.

I love the Holy bush. It is quite rare to find some quality wine that is not over priced on this side of the English channel, but this establishment delivers. I was also very pleased with everything that we were served with. A 3 course meal will fill you up and amase your tastebuds. I highly recommend it.

Just a cheeky drink for us today, however we had the roast here on our last visit and it is elite. Pretty happy to find a Burgundy by the glass here today and we enjoyed a few drinks and conversation tucked away in the back room while the locals bathed in the sun out front. Great pub ๐Ÿท

We had the cote de boeuf to share with the chilli and garlic broccoli, plus some Merlot . The blonde waitress who looked after us was delightful, smiley and attentive. The steak was delicious, and cooked as requested, fab chips fluffy and crunchy with the broccoli adding a little more heat . Car parking is a bit of a nightmare but parked on the High Street and walked up 5 minutes to the pub .

I was blown away by the food and the atmosphere. Downstairs is a normal local pub, upstairs is a fantastic date night with food you'd be happy to find in a Michelin star restaurant.

Great pub in an amazing location. Highly recommend, the food is great and the staff are really excellent. If you are in Hampstead, had a walk on the heath or had a swim this is a really cosy location for lunch and drinks

Post-funeral reception recently was superb. The buffet was delicious, especially crispy coated fish with tartare sauce and chips, inventive salads and yummy cheeseboard. Staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Pub full of character. Definitely worth a visit.

I was expecting a very touristy place as the pub is quite well know on social networks but I was totally wrong ! We went there for a few drinks in the evening and the atmosphere was great. Many people who live, or work in the neighbourhood. Good beers and ales available, like in any Fullerโ€™s pub, (my favourite), same with gins and tonics. We didnโ€™t try the food but I definitely recommend a stop for at least a few drinks in this lovely pub, in a pretty district of North London
