🚇Covent Garden 🍺 £5.80 Amstel ❤️ A welcoming family run Freehouse. . The Coach & Horses is located opposite the Royal Opera House in a quiet side street on the edge of Covent Garden. The nearest Tube is Covent Garden which is a four minute walk away. . The pub dates back to the 1730’s, the current building was built in the early 19th century. This pub has been run by the same Irish family for the last forty years. . This is a cosy one bar boozer that feels welcoming and homely. The servery is situated on the left hand side and has a sturdy solid dark wood counter. The bar area seating is all stools and poser tables which works well in this busy little pub. The pale green walls are adorned with photos of pub celebrations, claims to fame and black and white scenes of times gone by. This pub boasts a red carpet, the cornerstone of any top London boozer. . The beer selection was good and included lots of familiar favourites, two cask ales and of course Guinness. The Guinness here is well celebrated, so much so that The Irish Post once voted the Guinness here as the best in Britain. If you are partial to a short, there are over 70 Irish whiskeys and gins plus Scottish whiskies too. I was on the lager all day so I decided on an Amstel, my pint was excellent, well kept and price point was average. The food is basically sandwiches – but what excellent sandwiches they are. Hot sausages, salt beef, roast beef and baked ham are all served on your choice of bread with gherkins and crisps on the side. . We arrived just after 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and the place was absolutely heaving. The atmosphere here was superb, the vibe was upbeat and buzzy. The crowd was a mix from all walks of life, the pub was as busy outside as in. The service was efficient, the team here were very much on the ball. . The Coach & Horses is one of the most hospitable pubs you’ll find anywhere around Central London, this is a must visit London pub. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 29.04.23

Hands down the best Guinness in London. A wonderful, honest and very cheerful boozer just off the Tourist trail in London. Will be going back very soon!

No music makes this place a gem or a boring old schooler I cant be sure. No kitchen, so dont expect any bar food besides the nuts. There are nice craft beers though. At the time of this review the IPAs were £7+ I guess all prices increased recently. Nothing more I can tell.

A lovely cosy little pub in Covent Garden. If you look around you the majority in the Coach & Horses are drinking Guinness and it's because it tastes fantastic and obviously kept well. The hot sandwiches looked good too and maybe next time I'll have one but in here it's all about the Guinness!

I came here for the Guinness like everyone else. How does the Guinness compare I hear you say.. well, it was really good. I can’t say if it’s the best I’ve had outside of St James Gate but I had a few so it’s not bad. The Guinness is poured well, the glasses spotless and a good head on it. It’s definitely one of the best looking pints of Guinness I’ve had. Was just about £6.60 for a pint of Guinness It’s a very popular pub (inside and out) so you may have to push your way to the bar but the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good. I will come back next time I’m up in London.

Small single room pub in a suitable location. The sandwiches are highly recommended and extremely good value for money. Probably the best copper piping you will ever find in a gents toilet.

Tiny little pub located just off Covent Garden. This intimate venue is known for the best Guinness outside kid Ireland. Friendly staff and service with more than 70 whiskeys on offer. Good selection of beers, but you'd want to try their Guinness! I don't think there is food served.

Great pub with wonderful service. It has been this good for the 25 years plus that me and friends have been going there.

A brilliant and cosy little irish pub, that's surprisingly authentic given the touristy location. Lots of local workers go here and it serves one of the best pints of Guinness you'll find in central London. Be warned it is very small so will likely be standing room only at busy times (if you can get in the door!).

Nice pub slightly off the the main area of Covent Garden. Apparently the best Guinness but not that amazing. Comparable to other places. Pub is lovely though.

We made a snap decision to go for food on a balmy June Tuesday night in Covent Garden and a sudden recollection that the Guiness Guru had reviewed the Coach & Horses 'chose' our pre dinner drinks venue!! They say dont meet your heroes, but the Coach & Horses didn't disappoint - great atmosphere, great service, and of course a very nice pint of Guiness. Sadly, we had to leave before 2 pints became a full-on session. Thoroughly recommended

Never got a chance to go in. The guard on the door shook his head as soon as we locked eyes. I had a ridiculous hat on from Junkyard golf place we went to for Christmas due. I might have looked ridiculous but not scary. We got a drink anyway because one of the people I was with used to manage a pub there and knew the personnel. We had it outside.

Amazing pub in heart of Covent Garden. Great atmosphere, nice and friendly staff, an amazing owner and probably the best Guinness I ever had!!! Highly recommended and will definitely be back

Really nice pub, a tad on the small side so found myself drinking on the street (wouldn't be the first time so not much of an inconvenience) but not for everyone. I was told the Guinness was a good reason for and I wasn't disappointed. Poured properly and tasted great. Proper pint 👌🏻

Every time I take my first sip of Guinness in this fine Irish establishment ‘Simply the Best’ by Tina Turner starts playing in my head. My favourite pub on the planet, without question.

Best Guinness in London bar none!! Salt beef sandwich also brilliant. Small pub with seats at a premium. Always worth a visit - especially for the Guinness!

Everyone drinks Guinness beers here for obvious reasons. The bar is really small so you might be standing outside on the street. A great British experience and a great people watching place. I recommend.

Popped in for a drink on an early Sunday afternoon and the pub was already busy. The 2 bar staff as well as the man on the door were all very friendly. I don't drink Guinness so can't comment on the best pint in London but the ale I did have was in great condition. Very varied selection of people drinking for all ages, was nice to see. Great real pub atmosphere.

Family run with one of the best pints of Guinness you'll find in London. Lovely atmosphere. Very welcoming and really lovely staff. Can't recommend it enough. Shout out to the Guinness Guru for this one!

Situated in a relaxed part near Covent Garden, this pub has what it takes for a fine and chill night on the town.

Came here on the recommendation of the Guinness, which was fantastic! The bar is small and busy, which may be a concern to some people, but I loved the buzz. Given the bar is on the doorstep of Covent garden it would be hard to find that place to be quiet, however, the staff were well prepared for the crowd. A healthy amount of paraphernalia in the place without looking tacky or touristy, I'll happily go back again.

Cracking little boozer , and that’s exactly what it is , a boozer. Fantastic Guinness and 1 of the only places in London that has the option of regular Guinness and extra cold. Most just serve extra cold which isn’t my thing so found this really good. Always busy and many people in there seem to go for the Guinness so you know it’s going to be good. Definitely worth a go this place !!!
