I ordered the Elderberry & Ginger Tea along with a mini cake with raspberry jam filling. It was very good. The price was reasonable for an afternoon tea. It'd be nice if they had restrooms within the restaurant section and would add to the atmosphere if they had some art in the dining area.

This used to be a nice dining room. I used to come here regularly. The change to self service was a horrible mistake. If you want an overpriced buffet, just go to the canteen. A decent selection of tea, but they don’t even have scones any more. A crying shame. Please bring back the scones.

Gives a bad name to “modern british food”. We ate at the deli. Poor selection and slooooow service. In a location with so many other options you can do much better and get a lot better value

Conveniently situated within National Gallery. High ceiling makes it very airly, which is very nice after busy gallery visit. The service is quite slow, so if you have limited time, I wouldn't recommend here. Otherwise, relax and enjoy. Some table have a view of Trafalgar Square.

Stopped by for some cake and tea on a Sunday. The place wasn’t full but service couldn’t seem to cope. Took a long time to get seated, have the order taken and be served. We had scones and they were ok—quite stingy on the clotted cream and jam. I wouldn’t rush back.

This restaurant has lovely views across Trafalgar Square. The decor is nice and it’s a great location for central London. Unfortunately when we went on a Friday evening it was almost completely empty and had no atmosphere whatsoever. The food was good and the staff were helpful, but the lack of ambiance let it down.

We went for afternoon tea there on 31st Jan for my sisters birthday and it was a disappointing experience overall. There weren't enough staff serving (this wasn't our waitresses fault) so service was very slow. We ordered three afternoon tea sets with no ham sandwiches and a few other things. When it finally arrived the ham sandwiches were still on the plate, with the slightly apologetic waitress explaining 'they forgot to take it off, just don't eat it'. Unfortunately, the sandwiches had been left out so the bread was hard and my sister (the only one who ate the egg sandwich) later came down with mild food poisoning. Won't be visiting again.

terrible experience: Food quality very low Dishes as sendwiches or crogette frittes are not fresh ( I have been told from them). If you want to eat something decent there are plenty of restaurants in the area. In more details: me and my friend ordered a crogette frittes. We should have received exactly the same thing but mine was totally different: no crogette or vegetables inside but they just fried “something”. I have asked why and the first waitress told me this was the same dish. So I start eating but it was really disgusting. I have asked a second waitress who agreed with me that mine was a totally different dish. She went to the kitchen to ask to change the plate but kitchen was now closed. NOT WORTHIT TO EAT HERE

Gorgeous venue! Cheerful interior design. The food has excellent flavours - very good and very tasty. The staff was friendly and polite. Thanks to them we spend a lovely lunch. Will visit again :)

We visited on Saturday 10/09/2016 whilst looking round the National Gallery. The restaurant was busy but by no means full so, as we were shown to our table, we told the waitress that we wanted drinks only and she confirmed that was not a problem. The waiter eventually came over to take our order which was nice and simple, 1 tea and 1 coffee. We waited for 45 minutes and nothing turned up other than a small jug of milk but people that came in after us were all being served so we left in disgust. If they don't want customers who are not spending a fortune then they shouldn't tell us it was fine to order drinks only. Its a shame because the setting was very nice and relaxing.
