Worst experience. I have stayed in several hostels in many countries. I would say this has been the worst I have ever seen. Hostel World had given an award to this hostel in 2016. I think that has definitely got to their heads as nothing has been serviced and maintained since 2016. Toilets, showers are extremely bad and disgusting. I am so surprised to see few good reviews, which definitely should be fake. Had to check out overnight as the washrooms were not usable. I could see we were not the only one but another person also couldn’t tolerate and had to leave. With the non-refundable price after beginning the stay, I see its a business tactic for them to get money this way and having people check out early with their worst living condition. I would appreciate if the money they collect from the stays could be used for cleaning and maintenance to provide value to customers. Public toilets are far more better than the toilets in this hostel. Only best point is location.

The only saving grace of this establishment is the location. My 6-bed dormitory was small, cramped, claustrophobic. There are no bedside lights or chargers. The bathrooms are even smaller w/ hardly any space to brush your teeth. The Wi-Fi does not work downstairs in the lounge. Even at $32/night, this place does not meet the standard of living that is expected in London. Would only recommend a 1-night stay, in an emergency situation. Otherwise skip! 🚫

Honestly my worst experience with hostels ever. The location was good.. and that’s pretty much about it. Idk where all these people leaving 4 stars stayed at but that ain’t it. Rooms were terrible, very dirty and so narrow that felt like I’m cuddling with the stranger across my bed. There are only 2 toilets per floor that were so tiny, no room for changing nor washing hands face etc. Furthermore, I made a booking for my friend and I for 2 nights were we ended up in separate rooms and different floors which was very inconvenient. My room was on the 4th floor, no lift and the stairs so tiny it can barely fit one person. Check in was long and confusing as they forgot to assign the second bed ended up having to go up and down 4 floors with my luggage multiple times as they didn’t know were the second bed was supposed to be. The girl at the reception was great and very friendly and helpful. Anyone else in the staff was super rude and not willing to do anything to make our stay easier. Check in at 3pm that Is not anywhere on the website when booking and check out at 10am. No charging spots close to beds, having to leave your devices far from you and unsafe. Housekeeping would just burst into the room without knocking or anything. And all they did was change the sheets on beds, no actual cleaning done. The overall experience was bad and wont be staying there again. The toilets smelled awful and all spaces had a lot of dust, looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in months. Would not recommend.

So it was my first time in a hostel so I did not really know what to expect. I tried to find a room with only woman and 4 people in the room. The room was clean but I just felt uncomfortable to be honest. In the showers there is nowhere to put your stuff, only 2 hangers. This is MY opinion but I just need more space and I get that in hostels its different but okay. It was nice that there were lockers under the bed so my stuff was close to me. I did not have a look at the kitchen or anything else. Anyway, the place was clean, the people were friendly, a hostel is just not my cup of tea. Thank u

Good quiet location, we used a private room that afforded a bit more privacy, however the shower and sink were unusable because the taps were blocked. The place can be OK if you just want to have a good time, but don't expect to be able to sleep at night, the walls are paper thin, the doors are noisy and it is inevitable that someone next door to you will be having a rowdy good time keeping everyone else awake.

It's only great in terms of location. Rooms are extremely tiny with no charging sockets/points on the beds like other hostels. The toilets are tiny as well. The ratio of toilets to number of people isn't ideal. So people will be knocking at the door every now and then.

Probably the dirtiest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. There is one tiny common area that fits maybe 5 people. There are a lot of floors with no lift, bathrooms are dirty and hardly usable. The bedrooms are small with no privacy, hard to lock up your stuff. We had a very strange man in our room with no luggage and laid in bed for days and had a terrible smell that made the rest of the room smell. This hostel should be £10 a night not 50. I could only stay there for one night and ended up paying for somewhere else. Do not recommend I would never stay there again.

They had lovely and friendly staff. Hostel was very close to the Tube station, like 5-10 minute walk. The location was in a very safe "posh area" in my opinion. First time in London, the hostel was a very good base for my 1 week trip. Only 3 things bothered me was going up 5 flights of stairs, no elevators, 2; I wasn't able to lock my stuff into the cage under the bed because the locking was not functioning on the cage correctly, and 3; it was a one shared power strip with the room full of people. I was live streaming my trip every day so I had to charge a lot every night. Luckily I didn't have others that needed a ton of power. I would prefer a strip for each bed side is what I'm used to in hostels in the states.

Unfortunately a very bad experience. I booked a single ensuite for a week in Victoria. Pros Comfortable clean bed, though not comfortable to sit on the edge tbh Friendly staff Excellent location - very convenient. Large room Cons - No lift - 6 flights of narrow stairs. This made me dread coming back or leaving my room. - There was no toilet included in the room, only communal ones. These toilets were not always the cleanest and in one the seat was just totally broken. - No kitchen or lounge due to covid. I was particularly annoyed about this since it states in the emails that the kitchen is unavailable until 21st June 2021. My stay took place during July 2021. I specifically chose this hostel because of the kitchen, but also there was zero traveller ambiance in this hostel.. it was strange to not even come across another soul in this huge hostel. - The room was often too warm with no fan provided. - Also if they cared so much about covid I do wonder why there was no soap provided in the room. - Oh another funny thing is the water is not drinking water, but the kitchen is not usable. - the photos indicated to me there would be a desk in the room, there was no desk. Given the amount I paid for this stay I was just so disappointed, just knowing I could have gotten a much better accommodation elsewhere for a cheaper price but it was too late since everything was non-refundable. To avoid.

The rooms were okay. It was incredibly inconvenient to not have sufficient charging points and there was a contact turmoil with 2 extension cords to try and manage it for all 6 beds and not trip over them while being able to charge devices. The window didn't open and needed to be propped up by something. The bathrooms were definitely a struggle from a cleanliness perspective.

Decent for the price. I only stayed one night but I couldn’t imagine staying longer; the bed was really uncomfortable and the toilet wasn’t the cleanest. Staff was helpful and they offered amenities for a good price like breakfast and luggage storage. I also liked the option of an all female room. Personally I probably won’t stay again, but hostels aren’t really my jam to begin with so others might have a better experience.

They are trying to do their best, but unfortunately still not enough. Bathrooms are filthy all the time, there are no plugs for charging your phone close to the bunk beds. No privacy curtains (that's okay considering the price). The place it's like a maze and if you have to go to the third floor this is a problem. Breakfast it's not worth it, for a little extra we can go for better in Victoria Station. Speaking of it... Location is the best thing about this place - next time I'm definitely getting some other hostel in this area.

I'm here for almost two weeks and during that time the cleaning in the room wasn't done on any day, they just changed the bed linen for the entrances and check out. Bathroom and bedroom are very small, the room is for 8 people but it clearly holds a maximum of 6, it is almost impossible to pass between the door and the study table. Someone stole stuff from the lockers (even with a padlock), they simply didn't let us change rooms and did nothing to help. There are cameras all around the hostel, but they said they don't work. And the receptionist/manager, Florencia, is super rude. The only advantage is the location, cheap sometimes can become expensive, I don't recommend it to anyone.

There is NO privacy in this hostel. The beds don't have curtains, and the bathrooms are too small to get changed in, so you really don't have any choice but to get dressed in front of others. On the day you're scheduled to check out, an employee barges in at 9:50 AM and announces that you need to check out in 10 minutes. No knock, no "Excuse me," nothing; you could be fully naked and they just throw the door open. Plus there's no regard for the other people in the room that AREN'T checking out yet and are still asleep. The bathrooms are on a separate floor than the bedrooms, so you have to walk up and down stairs in a towel if you take a shower (again, the bathrooms are too small to get changed in). At least one of the toilets was filthy, and the trash cans were overflowing. The doors only close correctly if you slam them shut, and the beds are very creaky, so it's very hard to avoid disturbing your roommates. LOTS of stairs (which are very narrow) and no elevator. The proximity to Victoria Station is convenient and the beds appeared clean, but those are really the only positives I have to share.

Great place to spend a maximum of 2 nights...rooms ok, bathrooms clean, but the first receptionist who attended to me in 11/11 13pm was extremely rude when I said that I couldn't book on the website because it said there was no room available, she told me that Her job wasn't to help me with this... so what is she paid for? I managed to make an appointment without this person's help...I came back and was very well attended to by the night receptionist, who was very polite and kind to me.

Considering hygiene and space issues, as a solo traveller , I was not impressed with the hostel rooms. I booked for 3 nights but checked out after a single night. The toilets are outside and not clean. Rooms have 6/8beds with mixed dorms.6 bed dorms are very congested. No water bottles in vending machines, bottles can be filled using the tap in the kitchen. Indeed budget friendly if you are in a group so that you can occupy the entire dorm and have fun. But as a solo female traveller, I had major concerns. Location is great though.

Stayed here for 3 nights and was totally blown away. The staff were fantastic, especially the man who was usually on reception. So helpful and will really go above and beyond if you need any help. Our room was cleaned everyday and all the facilities were super clean too. They had a DIY laundry room which was cheap and had great machines, and also had a free printing service too! Fantastic location!!! Really nice, friendly environment and would be good for anyone travelling alone, wanting to meet people :)

Don’t stay here! There’s only two toilets and showers per floor (about 18 people if not more uses them). It was dirty, smelled disgusting. They’re supposed to clean everything three times per day but the two days I stayed they only cleaned it once! It has a low price but at what cost? A friend asked for a towel (for a price of course) and they got him the worst dirtiest towel they could get.

Great location close to the train and coach stations. It was nice and clean when I stayed and the staff was lovely. The only slight issue is there are not enough plugs and its extension lead attached to extension leads which if you have OCD is not great. Overall worth staying here

Good and cheap hostel nearby Victoria Rail Station. Perfect for a short stay. Comfortable beds, old furniture, tiny toilets. Shared spaces available, kitchen included. Nice staff.

The hostel is located in the heart of London so everything is close to it. It's perfect. The staff is amazing and very friendly, especially Greg, who made me feel very welcomed not only in the hostel but in the city as well, giving me tours, tips on how to coock and thoughtful conversations. 10/10, and I recommend everyone to stay here.

  • 4/5 Anny F. 11 months ago on Google
The hostel was pretty cheap quality like we paid for, tight rooms and really tight toilets, not very aesthetic, decently clean, unlimited hot showers, breakfast options very limited just bread and spreads plus beverages, BUT the staff was incredibly friendly and forgiving, helpful, and available. The location was ideal, super cute area, 5 min walk from the tube. Would stay again on a budget.

I booked a room for my parents in April 2016. For one night they lived in a smaller room for two people with a bathroom and toilet, room was tidy, comfortable, nice according to the price. The other two nights they lived in an apartment for four people, which was really nice, clean, spacious, with the bathroom and toilet, kettle, coffee, tea.. Next to the room was a small kitchen ,which was used by all the guests, well equipped. The staff was nice and friendly. Distance to the closest underground and bus station is approximately 5 minutes by foot. Bus stop in front of the pension. I recommend this accommodation. Show less

We booked a room for 7 people in an 8 person dorm. I emailed the facility to ensure that all 7 of us would be together in the same room, the person I was in contact with reassured me time and time again that we would all be together. When we showed up on the day of our reservation the front desk worker let us know we were now all spilt up, which is something we were not comfortable with. The front desk worker even promised us a partial refund due to the companies mistake. However, we went to check out, the same worker was extremely hostile towards us and let us know she wouldn't be giving us any sort of refund, even though less than 24 hours before she promised us one. We also had man laying on one of the beds we reserved, which we let the staff know about. The same girl let us know that there was nothing that they could do, even though the man was switching between the bed he bought and one of the beds that we had bouhgt. Overall, not a great hostel experience, as we have stayed in many with much friendlier and accommodating staff.

I stayed in the hotel for 4 days. The toilets and showers were very unhygienic. The kitchen was okay. The kitchen and living room were not comfortable or inviting. The pictures of the accommodation do not match reality. For example, one room no longer exists; I specifically asked.

  • 2/5 J 4 years ago on Google
Not located near any late night food options. I arrived just before midnight and the front desk only suggestion was to walk to a McDonald's 1.5 miles away. Searching on my phone I couldn't find a pub that had food open within a mile or more and not even any pubs without food nearby. Maybe this is different on a weekend. I also found the facility fairly run down. But it was cheap and convenient to the train station. I just wish I would have known I wouldn't be able to eat late. Switched to generator hostel for night two and enjoyed that a lot more

For the price and the use in which I booked the bed under, you couldn't fault it. Staff were extremely helpful in questions such as eateries and corner shops for provisions. I slept well and would definitely book again if I need to.

Decent hostel for the price. Lots of stairs and no elevator, shared showers and washrooms with lots of people. Friendly staff and most guests are really nice too. Definitely worth it compared to other London prices but not at the normal standard of hostels that I've experienced

  • 3/5 Toni L. 4 years ago on Google
As others have said, you get what you pay for. Beds seemed clean enough, everywhere else not so much. I only slept here for a couple of hours after a late flight and before I got on my train home. For this purpose, it suited me well, I managed to get a decent sleep. Less stars given due to having to carry a heavy suitcase up several flights of stairs by myself, which probably woke up half the people staying there (the alternative is leaving your luggage in a room on the ground floor - leave at your own risk - I prefer to keep my belongings close in a hostel).

  • 4/5 Vrushali P. 5 years ago on Google
The lounge area really needs to be kept better. Toilet on the ground floor nearly made me check out even without seeing my room. The dorm is more spacious than a lot of other hostels in the area so kudos to them. Really well connected and quiet neighbourhood. No elevators and five floors. Kitchen is in the basement and they don't offer basic breakfast for £1.

Stayed here for 2 nights, staff were friendly and let you leave your bags in a room if you were too early! The room was small but clean, shower was super small and didn’t have a soap holder or anywhere to hang towel/clothes. There wasn’t many ports in the room either only 2 for 6 people. The hostel had 2 great kitchens which made it so easy, great location super close to public transport and walking distance to lots of pubs, cafes and supermarket.

First time staying in a hostel was pleasantly surprised how clean the rooms, bathrooms and showers are. Downside was I couldn't get any sleep the 2 nights I stayed. My room was really hot, we slept with the window open but since the room was situated alongside the main road there was a lot of noise from traffic and air planes. Can't imagine what it would be like during peak Summer time.

  • 1/5 Shallow W. 1 year ago on Google
Location was the only good part, if you only need a super cheap place for a night or two maybe try it. I had to get refunded due to all the issues and how the hostel was not clean. All the roommates I spoke with said it was by far the worst hostel they'd stayed in.

  • 2/5 Iain B. 1 year ago on Google
For booking this last minute I was pleasantly surprised at the price given its location. Admittedly this is my second time in a hostel, but this was a poor experience. Room was so hot with very little circulation, the bed was comfortable and clean. You are charged for towels (I did eventually find it in the small print of the booking site I used) and there is no soap in the showers. I didn't use any of the other facilities. As always sharing a room in a hostel, it's the other guests which will make or break it. Unfortunately someone was on YouTube from 3am until morning without headphones in.

10 minutes walking from the bus station. Hostel very clean and with good structure. Helpful staff. I recommend.

  • 1/5 Niyazi T. 10 months ago on Google
They are very bad at what they are doing! There is not enough bathroom to take a shower. Hostel is simply overcrowded. Corridors and rooms are narrow. It can easily trigger claustrophobia. The lobby is so small. The only good thing in the hostel is that they make the bed before you arrive. They are not organized at all. You need to wait too long, even for check-in or check out. The breakfast they served is just terrible. The kitchen is so dirty. They dont have the slightest respect for their customers. Here is what happened to me there: I forgot my shirt there. I asked them whether they found it or not the day after I left. They told me to come and check by myself in the lost and found box. I thought they found it and for this reason I went there back from manchester to pick up my shirt. When I arrived at the hostel, they told me they didn't find anything without showing me anything. I asked them why they didn't tell me this beforehand, and they yelled at me angrily. This is how they run that hostel.

I enjoyed my stay at Astor Victoria Hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room and bedding were clean and comfortable. One of the showers was out of order on my floor, which was only a minor issue and usually I didn't have to wait long in the morning. The location is really nice, Pimlico is a very central and quiet part of the city.

  • 4/5 Patrick Tutu O. 1 year ago on Google
Not a bad place to lodge for a group trip. If you're travelling solo, I wouldn't recommend.

  • 4/5 Whitney G. 1 year ago on Google
Location can not be beat for the price! This was my second time staying here (first time solo) and the Pimlico area has everything you need plus super quick access to the Pimlico underground station. -Showers are teeny tiny -Towels/padlocks are available for hire -Limited outlets in rooms, which felt like a fire hazard -Friendly staff -Breakfast is super simple with toast, instant coffee, etc. If you’re looking for an affordable bare bones place to stay while in London, check this out. Beds are comfortable enough and have baskets to store your belongings with a padlock (I used a combination lock).

Superb location, friendly staff, wasn't expecting a great deal with it being a 1 star, you get what you pay for and this was a good base for me and my friend for 2 nights. Staff went the extra mile for me to print Wembley tickets. Basic room, was a mixed dorm with 2 bunk beds and one bed, sockets for 1 plug each, shelving, a sink and adequate storage. Toilets could have been checked a bit more often for cleanliness but that was the only snag.

  • 1/5 Erwin P. 1 year ago on Google
THE WORSE HOSTEL!!! 1. The room smelled urine everyday. I don’t know what kind of cleaning product they used, but it smell awful. No wonder they provide air freshener 2. The door was heavy and LOUD as hell everytime someone in and out of the room. Guaranteed you won’t have a good sleep 3. Bed was solid hard as rock 4. Toilet & Shower were in different floors, and they were tiny. Barely any space to move in the toilet. Sink barely useable 5. Stairs and more stairs. Good luck if you’re assigned in floor 3,4,5.

  • 1/5 Sinead 1 year ago on Google
Would not rate this hostel. Staff need to learn how to smile more, they look miserable. Rooms are gross, there's only one charging point which has a multi plug, some guy in our room charged his apple watch, air pods and phone, leaving room for one others phone to get charged. Toilets are absolutely repulsive, showers are disgusting too. Someone was cooking something which leaked through the room floor, shouldn't be able to cook in the room, it's a place to sleep. There's also a f ton of stairs, so guts to you if you get placed on the top floor

I have stayed at many hostels all over Europe and this is the only one I have given less than a 3 star and if I could give 0 I would have. Tiny shared shower and tiny shared toilet with 3 dorm rooms worth of people and not clean at all. Shower only have Luke warm water as well lockers under the bed do not even lock properly unless you lift the whole bottom bunk bed mattress up and when someone is already sleeping on it you can't. No elevator so if you have lots of bags and are on the highest floor Goodluck as stairs are tiny and cramped

Booked for my father for 2 weeks, I was lucky to get him a whole private room, pretty cheap and a very good location. Very nice people at the reception too.

If you are only staying here for one night, this hostel is a more than satisfactory place to stay. The location of the hostel is great, off the centre of town and easy to get to everywhere. The price was very cheap, I paid £31 for a night's stay. There is no lift, so if you are carrying a lot of luggage, think carefully about staying here. The bathroom and toilet are communal, which means that people on one floor need to share a toilet and bathroom.

  • 3/5 Ashley B. 1 year ago on Google
Honestly the location was absolutely perfect. Extremely easy to hop the tube and get anywhere and the neighborhood felt very safe to me and quite elegant. However the rooms were very basic and the bathrooms were pretty gross. The atmosphere was kind of off. The only common room felt weird and maybe it was just my luck but really difficult to meet people. I did however have to switch rooms where I finally met some cool people but the common area either had no one in it or they were too busy on their phones. I didn't use the kitchen but I did take a look and it seemed alright. But for the price of this location I would recommend. I stayed there for 5 nights but I wish I maybe switched it up for half of it.

  • 1/5 Filippo B. 1 year ago on Google
I’ve been told that there were not keys left so once the staff opened the door for me I couldn’t use the toilet before to sleep and throughout the whole night otherwise if would have been quite uncomfortable ask every time someone to open it for me. The room was incredibly hot and humid, even if the weather was just normal on that night. The sink in the toilet was as big as a dish plate. Nice stuff nice position and very good price but also pretty much uncomfortable.

  • 2/5 Sarah B. 1 year ago on Google
Terrible experience. It was 80° outside but 90° in the room we stayed in. There were balcony doors that could have been opened allowing for adequate airflow, but they refused to take the lock off of them. Instead we had one small window and a cheap floor fan. It was impossible to get any sleep. Breakfast is not included, towels are not included, and the bathrooms have no way to dry your hands. Would not recommend.

I was pretty worried about this accommodation after reading some of the other reviews, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I had a female only room for 7 nights, and it was clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable. No issues with any of the bathroom or kitchen facilities blocking, and they were always clean when I used them. Reception staff were really friendly and helpful when needed. The only things that really bothered me were the lack of power plugs in the bed (but there were plenty in the room to use), and people thumping their suitcases up and down the stairs early in the morning. The area felt really safe, and I was quite happy walking around at night. Great location. A little noisy as expected for the area, but it really quietened down about midnight. Would definitely stay here again.

Also - there isn’t a lift so if you have heavy bags or mobility issues don’t stay here. Didn’t bother me though as I have the same issue at my flat. I was skeptical about this place with the reviews but it seems people have forgotten what a BUDGET hostel should be. I paid £26 for a two night stay so I wasn’t expecting anything fancy. I do however agree that the bathroom situation needs work as there is mould in some of the sinks. Despite this, the staff are clearly making every effort to keep things clean. Maintenance came in twice on one day to a) make everyone’s bed, and b) sweep and mop the room. The room itself: Was clean, tidy and the lockers worked for me. One thing is I recommend bringing your own lock. (I was worried about my stuff getting stolen with the reviews but it was genuinely fine) Added bonus; They let me hang out in the lounge before check in as I arrived early from my flight. Overall I’d stay here again but not for more than 2 nights!
