I am writing with a deep sense of disappointment regarding our recent experience with the Ritz Carlton in London. As patrons of a five-star establishment and a brand that epitomizes luxury, we expected a level of service and understanding that aligns with such a prestigious reputation. After receiving a voucher for a stay at the Ritz Carlton through a charity event—a gesture meant to offer respite during these trying times—we were dismayed when the time came to redeem it. The pandemic, an unforeseen global crisis, prevented us from using the voucher within its intended period. This was a situation beyond anyone's control, and we anticipated a degree of flexibility reflective of the times. Regrettably, when we reached out to the hotel to discuss our options, the response was unexpectedly rigid and unsympathetic. The refusal to honor or extend the validity of the voucher not only contradicted the compassionate spirit in which it was originally given but also contradicted the very essence of hospitality. The interaction was devoid of the warmth and understanding one would anticipate from the Ritz Carlton. There was a stark absence of any attempt to accommodate our unique circumstances, which was not only surprising but deeply disheartening. This experience has regrettably altered our perception of the Ritz Carlton brand. It is my hope that this account prompts a re-evaluation of policies, especially under extraordinary circumstances, to ensure that future guests do not encounter a similar lack of empathy. Hospitality, especially in the luxury sector, should not only be measured by the quality of amenities but also by the grace and flexibility offered in times of need.

We had afternoon tea and couldn't have been more impressed. As you might expect, from the second you walk into the lobby, it is almost overwhelmingly impressive. Staff are everywhere, and can't be helpful enough. We were early, and so went for a drink in the bar. The second we walked in we were being shown to a table, given drinks menus and offered complimentary nibbles. After our drink, we went downstairs to the ballroom, where tea was to be served. The grandeur of every inch of the Ritz has to be experienced to be believed. There was an excellent 3 piece string/piano ensemble playing as we ate, which just added to the wonderful atmosphere. The quality of the food was sensational, and the standard of service was everything you'd expect from such an establishment. We were offered more sandwiches, tea and cake as soon as someone saw we were getting low and, for nearly 2 hours, were treated almost like royalty. I cannot recommend afternoon tea at the Ritz highly enough. The food, the environment and the overall experience are something to be treasured

Came here for afternoon tea with my wife and family as it was my wife's birthday. I couldn't fault it from the doorman to the cloakroom attendant. All were so professional and charming. The food was excellent and then a relaxing drink in the bar to finish a wonderful afternoon.

I was absolutely dismayed at the experience I had at the Ritz a few days ago. I've been to the hotel several times for afternoon tea and drinks at the Rivoli bar and have often recommended the hotel and these establishments to friends and family visiting London. I work in the hospitality / hotel industry and I had a colleague visiting town and I wanted to show her the historic lobby and corridor - as a comparison to some of our own luxury hotels - and I was gobsmacked at the way the staff treated us when we approached the hotel's entrance. Everyone in our group of five women was dressed smartly, but upon approaching security was very aggressive in asking us who we were, what we were doing and what we wanted at the hotel. trying to prevent us from entering the lobby. This is not a private member's club - this is a hospitality establishment and preventing people from even entering the lobby for no good reason is preposterous!! I explained we were simply trying to get a brief look at the historic building, when four additional bellmen and staff surrounded as we entered, looking us up and down and letting us know we could not enter any further the way we were dressed. When they said you can't go any further I asked which part of my outfit was breaking their guidelines - i was wearing no jeans, i was in a business outfit. They specifically then said 'you are okay' turning to other members of my party saying 'you are not' - I was flabbergasted at how they conveyed this. Looking us up and down and delivering this with contempt. This is a luxury establishment and while I'm appreciative of guidelines and dress codes - which none of us were breaking as far as the lobby is concerned according to their own website - there is a way to convey such things in a much friendlier and more hospitable way. There were absolutely 0 customers in the lobby, it was not busy whatsoever and we were not disruptive in any way. The way the staff behaved was absolutely discriminatory and nothing short of abhorrent. They need some training on how to deliver hospitality and how to deliver inclusive hospitality. My money is as multi-coloured as the next person's and trust me when I say this - I will never spend a dime there again and I will ensure that my friends and family don't either. This place is stuffy, outdated and clearly they're so much better than everyone else they don't need additional business. YUCK.

What a Fantastic experience. I went for Afternoon Tea along with my sister and elderly mother who was in a wheel chair. The staff were amazing and provided us with all the assistance need with my mother. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of the team. They were very attentive without being over bearing. If you have not been then I strongly recommend you do. Overall just AMAZING.

Myself and my mum went for afternoon tea and stayed the night for my birthday. From the moment we stepped in, to the moment we left, the service and atmosphere was seamless and relaxing. We spent a great portion of our night at the cocktail bar, which the drinks were very interesting and enjoyable. I recommend the Iron Lady if you ever go. It knocks your socks off but tastes so wonderful. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the rooms were lovely and quiet. As for the food, it tasted delicious. I very much enjoyed the miniature birthday cake that was made and presented to me. It was a lovely surprise. The staff were incredibly attentive and were often there to serve you for your needs before you had a chance to ask. You could see that the staff work incredibly hard to provide a 5 star service, but with what seems to be an element of pride and joy. So I must thank the staff for making the experience an excellent one. Nevertheless we hope to return again soon, when we have the opportunity to do so amongst our busy lives.

I came here for afternoon tea and the experience was beautiful from the start to finish. The staff were exceptional. We arrived earlier than ETA however the concierge met us, welcomed us and allowed us to wait at the reception. Very helpful. Then we were ushered to the lounge room to wait a bit further until our table was ready. We left our items at the cloakroom with some lovely smiley ladies 😊 The afternoon tea itself was so good...the sandwiches kept coming and our waiter kept refilling. There was nothing too much for him to do...tea refills constantly. What we didn't finish were nicely packed away for us in their branded bags which was a lovely touch to the evening. The powder room exquisite! The room itself was beautiful and there was a live violinist with great tunes. Afterwards we were allowed to go back to the lounge till the time we were ready to leave. I totally recommend it honestly and would return again ❤️👌🏼💥

We celebrated my nieces birthday it was absolutely amazing. Lovely staff really polite. They were prompt. The tea was a great experience, our teapots were refreshed. The sandwiches all have a nice filling and we did go for the halal menu. They knew we went for that and they were prepared. Definitely would recommend to go there. Brilliant experience.

We had afternoon champagne tea here. From meeting the doormen and having some laughs with them through to the service it was brilliant. It was a very enjoyable experience and a bucket list for us. The staff were fantastic and service was first class l. The hotel itself is beautiful and interior is everything you hoped it would be. We will definitely be back next time too.

We had afternoon tea and it was amazing. Lucky to have walked in on a weekday at 11 am without a reservation! The savory sandwiches and sweets were divine and they even had a cart rolling out two cakes in the end, which is included! They also wrapped the remaining pieces in box for guests. So perfect and memorable!

Start to finish amazing! Like a dream. The entertainment was really fun. We loved the opportunity to dance. The food was exceptionally good. The staff were just lovely! Only disappointment is when we checked our bill the next day a service charge was not included. We didn’t even check - assuming it would be - and therefore didn’t even leave a tip. Maybe that could be made clearer. Great value for money for an amazing and memorable night out. We’ve booked again already 😊 Returned with my thirteen year old daughter - she wanted a special night out as a Christmas gift. It didn’t disappoint - she was blown away 💕

Had a great experience for afternoon tea! The moment you arrive at The Ritz, you were greeted by friendly staff! We were lead downstairs to the cloak room to leave our coats and then through to a beautiful room to wait until our table was ready. It was sumptuous and with luxurious furniture and decor! Once our table was ready, we were called to our seats. The friendly waiter guided us through the menu and huge selection of teas. The food came very quickly and we enjoyed each mouthful whilst listening to a pianist playing in the background! The waiter kept coming back and pouring the teas. There were plenty of opportunities to try different teas too. Lots of guests came to celebrate special occasions. We saw a band of waiters coming in with special cakes whilst the pianist played “happy birthday”! All in all, a very enjoyable afternoon! Friendly staff all the way.

This Afternoon Tea was the best I ever had! We went here to celebrate our anniversary and opted for the Christmas afternoon tea with champagne. As soon as you walk through the doors, luxury is on the other side. You are escorted downstairs to the cloak room and when the staff are ready, they guide you to your table. The sandwiches are fresh, the scones are warm when served, the cakes are soft, the whole selection is delicious. When we eat all the sandwiches and rolls, the staff bought us more! As it was a Christmas afternoon tea, they had a choir and pianist performing Christmas songs which was a lovely touch. They also gave us a slice of chocolate yule. There is no chance you will leave hungry! If you cannot finish it all (quite a few guests didn't), they do supply doggy bags. Christmas Afternoon Tea with a glass of champagne plus the 15% gratitude charge cost us £115 per person. If you have afternoon tea outside the Christmas season, you can have afternoon tea without the champagne for a lower price. This is certainly an experience I would recommend you try at least once in your life, I would happily have this again.

Amazing - Worth every penny! OK - this was an expensive treat but so so worth it. The staff are fantastic and made us feel a million dollars! Don't just look at the online menu as it does not give you the slightest insight as to the experience you will get. The food was out of this World. It is another level. I am not a millionaire... but for one lunch time I felt like one. These guys care about what they do and show it. They have a passion for GREAT service and deliver in a way which is becoming rare these days. If you can muster it, give this a try once in your life. You will not be disappointed!

Absolutely fantastic. We visited for lunch on the Tuesday of my university graduation ceremony to celebrate my long years of study and I truly believe there is a reason that the Ritz is used as a measuring stick for luxury done right. Everything, from the wine list, to the food, to the highly professional, skilled, approachable and charismatic waiting staff was an experience to remember. This was a bucket list event that I will be ticking more than once.

I have stayed here a few times and every time I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay. This time I was treated to an afternoon tea and it was splendid. The champagne was really high quality, we ended up sharing 3 bottles over the afternoon... Oops! The staff here are so friendly and so accommodating, nothing is too much trouble for them. I am looking forward to my stay in March. Warmest regards

I had the pleasure of going for afternoon tea with my daughter which was a birthday present gifted by my son for the both of us. A prestigious venue which we were both so excited to go to. First of all as we entered The Ritz Hotel the foyer smelt of cigarettes/cigars so not very pleasant to say the least. The afternoon tea hall was so beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was very good too with a pianist as well. The afternoon tea itself was very good too and excellent service. The sandwiches, desserts and scones were amazing too, but we ordered hot chocolate and on both occasions it wasn’t very hot just warm and when you poured it into the cup after a few minutes it went cold. When we finished there were still sandwiches and a few deserts left we asked for this to be packed. When we got home we opened the box and only found a few deserts and some scones in the box and no sandwiches. My point is that if you’re going to throw away the sandwiches why not give them to the customer to take home?

Back in 2018, my wife and I came here for our first stop on our honeymoon. Fast forward to 2022, we’re back! The experience, the music, the food, the tea, and just the overall feeling was unique! Since then, we have made it our must stop in London, and my wife prepares high tea at home for all our special occasions! The orange and passion fruit tea is my personal favorite! The food is prepared with such detail that every single bite is a compliment to the tea, the music, and the company. The egg salad on brioche is particularly excellent!

We visited for afternoon tea with champagne. The champagne was lovely the food was amazing there was plenty to eat, sandwiches topped up several times as were scones, with plenty of jam and cream. As it was my birthday I had presented a small cake which we took away with us. It was a fantastic experience, we were made to feel very special. I would go again given the opportunity.

We celebrated my mum’s birthday here yesterday with afternoon tea. It was absolutely brilliant, the piano was beautifully played throughout and even took requests, the waiters were lovely and enthusiastic, doing everything with a smile and the man on the door was wonderful and offered to take a picture of us and even held our bags as he did it. They catered to our dietary needs and provided a great gluten free and vegan birthday cake! We even got a gorgeous box to carry what we couldn’t eat home with us it was a lovely afternoon I would highly recommend!

We were searching for the perfect place to have afternoon tea to celebrate a special occasion. After much deliberation, we decided to go with the Ritz. We were not disappointed. The service was top notch, and the dining room was stunning. All the food was delicious, as of course was the tea. All in all, the experience was exactly what you’d expect from one of the finest establishments in London, and then some. Highly recommended!

Booked a Christmas Afternoon Tea for the three of us. Walked past many times but never ventured inside. First Impressions, it's a very grand venue. Immaculate inside and the staff at every moment were pleasant attentive and accommodating. My 12 year old son was mightily impressed with the splendor. Food was delicious and in particular the sparkling tea was superb. Never even heard of this before but will be definitely hunting down a bottle or two for home. The Christmas decorations were 10/10 and the patient staff were more than happy to accommodate us by taking numerous pictures of us in front of the Christmas tree etc. The pianist and carol singers were the icing on the cake for this seasonal trip into London. Would I recommend this, absolutely. The only downside was I felt the dress code could be relaxed slightly in this day and age. A jacket, shirt, smart jeans and shoes would have made me feel a tad more comfortable as I felt a bit stiff wearing a suit shirt tie and shoes. Only a minor grumble but they are the rules and I didn't want to upset Santa 🎅. Thank you to all at the Ritz for a superb afternoon. I also forgot to say that the Ritz teddy 🧸 was a lovely gesture and is now residing in my son's bedroom for many years to come.

A boxing day treat, afternoon tea at The Ritz, did not disappoint in any way. From walking in the door you are treated so unbelievably well, the staff not only look the part but they treat you so well, nothing is too much trouble to make your visit magical. With it being Christmas it was an extra special experience. After a glass of champagne, the sandwiches were lovely, the scones melted in your mouth and the miniature cakes were delicious. We chose to drink the Ritz Christmas Tea which again was lovely. I would also like to mention the piano man and the carollers gave an extra special touch. My husband and I had an amazing time and the memory of this will stay with us for a very long time.

Afternoon Tea at the Ritz. Coat & tie required for men. No jeans. Smart clothes for children. I've been to several afternoon teas across London, and this is somehow slightly better than all of them in some hard to describe way. Service is excellent. Waiters are frequent and try to ensure a good time for everyone. Going off the menu, you might think it's a standard tea, but the food is even still a little better than other places. Scones & desserts are lighter than expected, sandwich ingredients are fresh and delicious. Expensive (£100+ before champagne), and reservations are required.

I hadn't been to The Ritz for 14 years. It's still an amazing experience and one everyone should try at some point. Afternoon Tea is special but with the Christmas decorations up it's wonderful. Service is amazing with the staff always happy to help, being they're approachable. The food was lovely and very filling with the second round of sandwiches.

High standards, high quality, exceptional service, royal atmosphere and experience!!! To be honest i am out of words to describe how amazing your quintessentially British Afternoon Tea experience is!!! My mom an I visited The Ritz London on 26.09.2023 at 7.30 pm for the Afternoon Tea and i must admit that even though we’ve had high expectations this experience was far beyond our best expectations and dreams. We’ve been in some of the best hotels around the world including in Tokyo and New York but so far this is probably the best place personally i have been. Everything was perfect - the atmosphere, the interior, the music, the food ( the scones with Cornish clotted cream and The Ritz Royal English Tea were the best, the sandwiches were so delicious and the cakes make you feel like Marie Antoinette) but most of all - the staff. The people are those who really make the difference and add value to the whole experience at The Ritz - the hotel which looks like a magical place out of a fairytale. The Staff - Giuliana, Luigi and the rest of the boys which names i also want to mention but unfortunately I don’t know, they were all so kind and polite, with huge smile on their faces and in a very professional way they made us feel so comfortable and like real royalties at the same time. We received the best table and a box with cakes for home but most of all we left with the feeling that we lived our royal fairytale for about an hour and a half. This is priceless! This is one in a lifetime experience and i will always remember and associate London with it. The Ritz you are the heart and the soul of London!!! Thank you!!! We will come back!

Ritz exceeded my expectations! It is committed to providing the highest level of service and luxury. It has stunning architecture and decor. The lobby was grand and beautiful. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, with a warm and welcoming staff. The room was nothing short of spectacular. The standout feature was the impeccable service. Every member of the staff, from the concierge to the housekeeping team, went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. They were not only attentive but also genuinely friendly, making me feel at home. Any request I had was handled promptly and with a smile, which made me appreciate their dedication to guest happiness. The dining experience was another highlight. The food was outstanding, and the presentation was top-notch. The live show was no short of a west end theatre. I would 100% recommend it and would visit again.

We went for afternoon tea as a group of four and from the moment we entered we received excellent service from the staff. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, the afternoon tea itself was excellent. We started off selecting our teas from the menu. They have a variety of different flavours of tea for you to choose from. Once you have selected your tea it is brought to your table in a small tea pot which holds around 4 cups. You can always ask for more or even change to a different kind of tea later on if you wish to. Once we had been served our tea, they then brought out our sandwiches. There's was a selection of different sandwiches on the platter and each filling is explained by the waiter. The sandwiches were all excellent, the quality of the ingredients were amazing. We were then served freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam. Once again these were amazing. There was then a selection of cakes and desserts which once again tasted amazing. The quality of the food and service was second to none. It's more expensive than other places for afternoon tea but it's definitely worth the money. The quality and service was truly amazing. I would definitely recommend afternoon tea here. I would also consider doing it again in the future.

We had the tea cream experience for our anniversary (the last booking of the day). You can request a cake 🎂 as extra. The sandwiches were fine. You can request valet parking, but they were super nice to let out leaver our the car in front as the street was closed.

One of the door staff seemed a tad peculiar he was in a grey suit, but that aside, the manager and receptionist more than made up for it with their delightful hospitality. The presence of fresh flowers and the gentle strains of harp music added a touch of elegance, enhancing the already inviting and serene atmosphere of the afternoon tea and lounge areas. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, one that I would gladly repeat ❤️

We had a wonderful time taking Christmas afternoon tea with our family at the Ritz. Decorations, atmosphere, food and attentive service from staff was top class. Unfortunately we had to query the bill as they had charged us for 7 teas when clearly there were only 6 of us. The waiter acknowledged this and gave us a new bill which was also not 100% correct as it stated 5 teas with alcohol and 1 tea without when actually it was 4 teas with alcohol and 2 without. The new total price was accepted and paid as the service charge had been lowered to compensate for this error. We were somewhat disappointed at having to query the bill at such a prestigious establishment.

My husband booked us a table few times to enjoy the afternoon tea as a date for some special occasions, it has been the best place for a relaxed quality time together, the atmosphere is excellent. The quality of the tea and cakes is remarkable, all served by very polite and accurate staff, the style of the rooms and the whole design is detailed and with an artistic- romantic touch. Nothing is out of order and everything is ready to delight the experience. I would definitely reccomend it and am looking forward to bring my mother and family to enjoy a beautiful occasion

Went for afternoon tea at the weekend, since I can’t have wheat ( gluten) or dairy this is a hard mask but they managed to do the whole thing including scones (which I forgot to take pics of). I went for afternoon tea in early January where I tried a selection of sandwiches, all of which were catered to be Halal which was impeccable. The quality of the food really shines through and you can taste all aspects of the dish, such simplistic sandwiches done in the best way possible. The tea at the Ritz is unlike any other, it is specially selected and has such a unique taste. I would definitely recommend the Ritz English Breakfast Blend. Finally, the service from Keaton and Sebastian was definitely some of the best service I've ever received, both did an amazing job and were great to talk to.

We recently visited this hotel on afternoon tea. At first, of course, we were amazed by the decoration of the interiors and the inner beauty. But the disappointment did not take long to wait. Firstly, the food was quite mediocre, one might say not tasty. Sandwiches that probably don't cost a pound)) Secondly, the tea room is located directly opposite the toilets and elevators, for those who have only 75 pounds for tea, not 750 per night))) and thirdly, there was a fly running around on my desserts, which, as I was told, came from fresh flowers. This is nonsense, of course. Because I know what flower flies look like and what flies that eat rotten fruits look like. Of course, for the Ritz, a hotel with a great rich history, this is absolutely unacceptable. Finally, buy fly poison for 5 pounds and don't spoil anyone's mood. And if you make offers for clients that you think are very cheap, at least don't show anyone how rotten everything is.

I am pleased to express my utmost satisfaction with the exceptional service received during the afternoon tea. The staff exhibited unparalleled kindness and friendliness. The sandwiches and accompanying delicacies were, without a doubt, delectable, and the concluding cakes stood out as my personal favorites. What a fabulous way to start the New Year's celebrations with afternoon tea at the Palm Court. Absolutely first class all round. Thank you so much for the takeaway box with Christmas cake for my friend in hospital. She loved the surprise and kind thoughts. Cut up and shared with the nurses. Happy New Year!

Attend a breakfast event here during December. It looked beautiful with all the Décor. Upon entry you are greeted by many staff who are polite and helpful. During breakfast the staff were buzzing around constantly asking if you wanted tea, coffee, orange juice - it was good to start but eventually got a bit irritating, needing to pause conversations etc. The food quality was nothing special either which was a little disappointing. The best part of the experience was the building and the wonderful Christmas decorations.

Christmas afternoon tea was amazing, as soon as I stepped through the door that beautiful Christmas tree certainly got you in the Christmas spirit. The Christmas decor was outstanding by far the best of any London 5 star hotel I have seen. I'm well experienced in 5 star afternoon tea in London, pastries/cakes were light & delicious so were the scones and the only slight disappointment was the sandwiches were rather dry on the ends (often find this at other hotels too) All the staff were friendly and welcoming and it is so great to see the dress code is adhered to, that makes such a difference when people show the respect the hotel deserves. I look forward to returning.

I don't think I can say enough good things about The Ritz. We simply attended afternoon tea at the start of our honeymoon last month and it didn't disappoint in any way; we had a beautiful time! From the moment we walked up to the entrance, we were greeted by an incredibly kind doorman (that we unfortunately didn't catch the name of), who even did a little mini photoshoot of us by the entrance! The entire staff was so warm in such a genuine way and did an excellent job at providing top-notch service that made us feel like we were on cloud nine! The food was exceptional. We loved the variety of what was served, and I appreciated that they even had a full vegetarian menu! The atmosphere was even better-- elegant and in pristine condition + the live pianist added to the mood in such a charming way! We had an absolute blast soaking in every moment here and can't wait to visit again!

Amazing luxury hotel in the heart of Mayfair. Me and my husband had a wonderful time here before Christmas. The decoration is just breathtaking and we loved the festive tea as well. Everyone from the staff is friendly and helpful and the room is clean and spacious. Special thanks for my lovely Ritz teddy bear. ❤️ I will never stay anywhere else in London.

Amazing experience. Afternoon tea was impeccable! Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about tea and answered any questions I had. They were quick even though it was quite busy. Handled it all with grace! The place looks very nice and elegant. Would come here again once I’m back in London!

Lunch at The Ritz. As you would expect… what a wonderful experience! I was so glad we booked this at Christmas time because the decorations inside made it even more amazing. I would recommend a visit to this iconic hotel to everyone at some point in their lives. I also thought the cost of the 3 course lunch at £63pp was so reasonable for the quality and service received. We can’t wait to return.

We enjoyed afternoon tea with our family. Sandwiches were nice n tasty. Cakes were tasty but needed more variety. Savoury pastry should be included. Tea and cutlery were excellent. The service was excellent and was very courteous. Deco and furniture were really admiring. One negative point needs to be looked at. One of our tea pots was damaged, and the top was open. We were worried tea may spill and hot tea could burn us. We did point it out, but should have been replaced. Hospitality management must look into the safety of their customers.

We stayed for 2 nights to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. I knew it would be special but it was beyond that. Absolutely fabulous. We were upgraded to a suite which was superb and the little surprise gifts which were given to my husband were so kind. The concierge desk helped us to have a wonderful experience. Special mention and thanks to Mark for getting us in for afternoon tea after our flight was put back and for all his help with places to go. His colleague (whose name I didn't note - tall, dark and quite young!) was also a great help. Kevin and all the dining room staff were wonderful too. I could go on but suffice to say it was a wonderful birthday for my husband. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
