I have to say that the cocktails at The Alchemist Bevis Marks are great, more than great! However, overall the experience was not that great, so I won’t go back. I admit, I am fussy! In case you enjoy a very noisy place, doesn’t mind shouting while dining in order to be heard and after leave without voice. Go and enjoy the cocktails, but do not order fried calamari and nachos. I order fried calamari wherever I go, The Alchemist should remove it from their menu or change the name of the dish. Don’t be fooled by the picture. Nachos in one word, disappointment! I liked the fries! Last, but not least the burger with halloumi cheese was tasty! Looks ugly, but it was yummy!

Been twice in a three day span with different friends. I love the fun feel and the bartenders are warm and friendly. Lots of patience as we video and take pictures. The drinks are delicious and go down easily. I have not been disappointed. A must try experience!

This place is fantastic. Beautiful classy aesthetic and good service. This is a good place for a date or to meet up with friends as it’s not too loud with some jazzy music in the background. The cocktails are pure art and the prices are fair. We sat at the bar and watched the barmaid prepare drinks. She clearly knew what she was doing. There is a separate section with a restaurant. Unlike so many other places in London they don’t add an additional „optional service charge“. You can tip however much you like. I can recommend this place to everyone and we’ll pop back in on our next visit. Side note: They have AC so I recommend bringing a light jacket so you don’t get cold.

Come here for drink with my colleague after work and was impressed with the place, presentation, taste and price of the drinks. Considering they do put on quite a show it is a normal london price of cocktails. Absolutely stunning chemistry lab style of cocktails, superb if you wanna impress someone :) they have one cocktail that lets you keep a flask as a souvenir. What a fab experience! Strongly recommend.

Where food is more of an after thought here, having only a limited menu, it is the specialty drinks that you really come here for. More of a spectacular experience than a hardy one, you'll want to bring out your inner photographer for some of these masterpieces. The friendly and skilled staff helped make the experience a fond memory, and the misses and myself will be back again

The Alchemist at Bevis Marks was very spacious and has two floors. I do love the atmosphere, and the aesthetic over all. What I highly recommend to drink: Cosmic oysters - double shot of green goodness with citrus caviar Smoky old fashion The legal one You can’t go wrong with any drinks that you choose their especially their signature drinks if you want something theatrical, I would recommend The Mad Hatter it’s a drink, shared for two people and can be quite strong. What I recommend to eat: Whipped bur-natta - very creamy. The other items we tried: Calamari - salty and crunchy Duck pancakes - nice appetizer, perfect for two people. When we arrived, it was quite slow during that day on Sunday, so I recommend going on a time where it’s busier and bustling. We had drinks at another location St. martins and I really loved the atmosphere there too.

One of the coolest drinks I've had so far! Nice atmosphere, nice burguer but not really special chicken in a basket. The theatre on presenting the drinks and the fact that it it's very tasty would definitely make me come back.

I had absolutely a blast! The interior design was great, the employees are so kind, friendly and very helpful. Their katsu curry is very tasty, although the Korean Fried Chicken burger could have definitely use more Gochujang. The cocktails... OMG those delicious cocktails... Ok, I know some of you might think, "It's a cocktail, how can it be different?". Well, it is and I don't know what their measurements are but they cracked the formula on turning a simple cocktail into a joy of glass. They also have nice "magical" ways of presenting the drinks. I took short videos, you can see them as well. The oyster shots caught my interest and let me tell you this; it is a strong cocktail, strong but tasty. Our waiter was very great, helpful and funny. Honestly, now I know why everyone hypes up The Alchemist. The prices were reasonable, I was expecting more to be honest with all the comments. I'm glad they are also in my city, next cocktail night I'm trying there.

The drinks were delicious, and decent prices for the quality of the drinks. The mixologists are all amazing at what they do - they have incredible memories, often making 10+ cocktails at once. The drinks are always so beautifully displayed as well, there’s definitely an art to it. It’s often quite a wait at the bar to get someone to take your order and then for your drink to be prepared, I think I was waiting about 15 minutes before my order was taken, and the drinks took another 10 minutes to be made. They’re great at what they do though, I’ve been here a few times and the drinks are always really good. The wireless charging facilities on some of the bench tables is so handy too! Always a great experience, so I will definitely be back :)

The best alchemist in London. Great staff always. Fantastic food. If you haven't tried the bar nibbles please do they are magic. I would recommend our favourite but they are all delicious . Entertainment galore with the special cocktails especiallyif you ask for a showy one. A great treat for the family. The staff make it!!!

Late evening catch up with friends, the waiter was knowledgeable and humorous, the lollipop prawns were tasty and the cheeseburger bao buns were excellent and cleverly presented. The drinks(I had mocktails) had the usual effects and were certainly very nice. And finally, the dessert...the chocolate brownie was divine! The restaurant is well presented however the loud music made it hard to hear and be heard. All in all, would be back as the experience was beautiful

It's just so freaking fun here!!! 😍 If you in London you gotta check one of The Alchemist's out. The staff are enthusiastic and so fun 😄 they make it even more theatrical and interesting by explaining everything as they go. We even brought our 10 month old along this time and weren't made to feel remotely weird about it :) high chairs and bants with our future boss man 😉 Treat yourself to this absolute delight. Entertaining and delicious! Cocktails & Munchies alike 😍

Really good food and even better drinks. Lots of theatre and generally one of the coolest places we have dined in anywhere in the world. There was a small issue with our bill, which I didn't notice at first so I called the restaurant later and discussed this with 'Magda' and the matter was resolved.

We got the plant sharer which was a vegetarian sharing plate with a big variety which we loved. We also got the taco rack & 2 flavours we liked but we weren’t a fan of the cauliflower cheese one. For dessert we got the chocolate fudge cake and a sticky toffee pudding, both were amazing. Overall I would definitely go here again, we were completely full up and had about 4 drinks each and was £70. I think this is pretty reasonable for a place in London. Staff were so enthusiastic and interactive which made it an experience more than just a dinner.

Awesome! Great tasting food and really cool contraptions for drinks. If you are wanting to go for dinner you will need to book well in advance as it is a very popular place.

What a gem! Staff are so friendly and welcoming, the hospitality is top notch. If you don't know the drink, they are happy to help you find one. So many to choose from! They have something for everyone. Drink responsibly!

Great attentive staff and the location, decoration and atmosphere are great. The Bao starters are cooked really well and the Salt beef bagel just falls apart. Considering we went there at 12pm just as the kitchen opened the food was good and came out quick. As always the theatre associated with the drinks is amazing and always makes us smile. Well done.

The chicken basket was a little bland but overall a fantastic night. All starters were good and flavoursome. The cocktails were good, the waiter was super knowledgeable and went out of his way to take us through everything. A fun time was had! I would recommend this place definitely

The alchemist certainly has been a busy cocktail extravaganza site. The question is does the food enhance the overall experience? Answer - decently surprising. The chicken in a basket is a winner, amongst snacks, the glaze does amaze! The steak sandwich is below par, slightly dry and lacks flavour. The fish curry was above par. In whole very pricey lacking a punch. Service by Brendan was delightful, recommended staff member! The decor is beautiful with private booths, comfy seats and captivating lights, making for a great evening!

Alchemist never fails to impress with its mesmerizing ambiance and theatrical drink presentations. My second visit to a different branch was just as brilliant as the first. An experience not to be missed in London's bar scene.

Don't eat the tongue in the french kiss! Hahaha. Fantastic bar. The drinks are extremely entertaining. I'm not really one for spending on this type of thing but I was thoroughly impressed. The snacks were also delicious. Thanks for a fabulous night.

Ah amazing place, atmosphere, great food (not crazy dear) with attentive staff. Went there just before Halloween and it was dressed in themed decorations with themed limited cocktails.. try the French kiss cocktail if you like a good tonguing 😎😂 would recommend.

A lovely restaurant with a nice trendy atmosphere, however it is quite dark in there. The service was fantastic and very quick. Our starters were delicious, would definitely recommend the pork crackling. My main was a steak sandwich, which was okay but could have had more filling. The drinks are spectacular, however not the cheapest which we expected. I would come back here again.

Overall, we had a lovely time here and the cocktails do live up to their hype! We went for the Mad Hatter, which is a fun cocktail for 2, including gold glitter and loads of smoke. We also got two more cocktails afterwards - I cannot remember what my friend got, but I got the Jaffa Cupcake one. It came in an edible cup and was kind of like a dessert + cocktail in one, so I enjoyed it. In terms of value of money, we both thought the cocktails are priced fairly, especially given the theatrical aspects of the experience. However, we found the food a bit disappointing - we had the picanha steak smoking board and it wasn't anything special. The steak was so rare, it was unpleasantly chewy, and it wasn't well spiced at all. I found most of what was on the board to be quite bland to be honest, but we aren't fussy eaters, so we ate as much of it as we could. Service was friendly and the place is very classy otherwise. I would still recommend to anyone in the area for an interesting cocktail experience!

First time visiting and it was an experience! From watching the cocktails bubble away to the great atmosphere, me and some friends had a great time here.

Nice food, the ambiance is colourful and dark. Please note that the place has loud music even in the dining room, so it’s not suitable for a quiet evening. All big and colourful cocktails are also served at the dinner table. The food is good and there is a good selection of classics.

Delicious food and drinks, with attention to details and to the customer's needs and allergies. The drinks are impressive, an experience really. Love their chemistry-style presentation, and the taste was also really good. They also offer a gluten-free menu. I had a nice fish and chips here.

Awesome bar. Will definitely be going again, unfortunately we didn't have time to hang around and have more than one drink. But the ones we had were awesome. Staff were super friendly.

Great atmosphere and amazingly weird coctails. They could do with more clean drinks menus as so much choice. Not many people wearing masks on a Friday night but understandable as all drinking. Not much space. Enjoyed the music and good drinks.

A lovely place full of all the pomp and theatre. The Alchemist in Aldgate is based around an old chemist theme. With unusual drinks and for those not so adventurous can dip into the usual drinks found in all standard bars / pubs. It does boost a fancy restaurant should you wish to eat there. Bookings are recommended for the restaurant and for large groups wanting to only drink the night away. City workers dawn this place after work. With a crowded atmosphere, the place still manages to provide you with ample space. If you want something with a difference, then this is the place to definitely go to. It's a must, even if you only try it once.

Oh what a fantastic evening we had here! Celebrating friends and families 50th birthdays. We spent a few hours trying out different cocktails and was not disappointed. The staff were extremely helpful helping us choose cocktails and the bar staff amazing.

Cocktails here were absolutely lovely a great experience all round. Drinks were a little pricey and so were the bar snacks they also couldn't do 2 of the cocktails we wanted I have no idea why so withholding a star. A round of 4 cocktails 2 portions of fries and a portion of tiny chorizo doughballs (2 in a portion) set me back over £70. It is a fun experience though, for the theatrics I'd recommend the madhatters cocktail for 2. Shame really we would have stayed for longer and probably spent more in the establishment if it was a touch more affordable.

I absolutely loved the cocktails here, there’s lots of choice, good flavours and fun designs. The bar staff knew exactly what they were doing, worked fast and were friendly. Would definitely return. We also had some of the salt and pepper fries which were delicious.

If I could I would give an extra star 🌟. I enjoyed my evening so much. The cocktail and the show off are amazing. There are cocktails for everyone likes. The staff are amazing and very kind & Approachable. Glad they don't take deposit to make a reservation. It's so much better when you go with a flow and not be worried if someone will miss the reservation. Lol. I was very surprised with the price. So more affordable compared to other places I visited. The food was very good. The hoisin sauce from duck was very sweet for my liking but everything else was good. Shame we missed desserts as kitchen closed. I would suggest to let the costumer know when pastry is closing and allow people to make a decision. If you are noise sensitive you may find it too laud. Few minutes away from Liverpool Street underground

The cocktails here are on a whole new level. So many to choose from, watching them being made is as enjoyable as drinking them, take the day and go through the menu! Average prices for a central London cocktail bar, with better cocktails than standard cocktails from other places.

  • 4/5 Eva 1 year ago on Google
Great concept of the place, cool interior with the unique cocktail menu. Food menu looks impressive too but meals didn't taste as good as expected, presentation wasn't the best either (for the price you pay).

  • 4/5 Florian L. 1 year ago on Google
Good food, good mood and nice drinks. 1 Star less because the drinks look much but they are even less, because of ice cubes and other Magic tricks. Had almost every of the 3 drinks with 3 sips gone.

  • 3/5 Simona S. 1 year ago on Google
We came here randomly on a weekday. It was quite busy. The service was really slow at the bar and it took us a while to get the bartenders attention. It is understandable at the same time. The colour changing cocktail was fun & tasted alright. The legal cocktail didn’t taste that good.

  • 5/5 Aaron C. 2 years ago on Google
Brilliant experience with inventive theming, great waiters and service and such quirky cocktails in all sorts of chemistry themed glass flasks and breakers. The food was great too. I'd suggest getting the starters to share as they're quite big portions!

A perfect spot to have a drink and to eat something tasty. Great atmosphere, cheerful and friendly service. A very authentic place, I highly recommend it :) P.S. better book a table before coming :)

Cool place for drinks. Great presentation of most cocktails. The food was good, as was the desert. Very helpful stuff and very polite. I would visit it again to try more cocktails.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but here we are. First time in London from Dublin, The food was ok, drinks was great. Dj could be better. The bouncers on the other hand made us feel so welcomed and so polite. The bigger bouncer was probably one of the most nicest and hilarious bouncer we’ve ever met. Overall experience was great.👍
