Mmmmmm Monmouth, coffee at its best I have been to a lot of coffee shops. Some of the best have sold Monmouth Coffee Company roasted beans. It is a gold standard across god’s green country. Well, I had the privilege to visit the mother land, its cafe located near borough market. It’s less a cafe, more a biblical scene with riches from all corners of the coffee cultivating world. I was humbled to be given a right of passage to the counter. I ordered a flat white with oat milk; the barista obliged to apply latte art. The standard of which the Queen of England would happily stamp her approval. There I stood. The pilgrimage complete. The elegant open interior was warm with the buzz of a social gathering. I appreciated the excellent brew, cupping the warm mug. It is coffee at its best.

I followed some recommendations on YouTube that this is a fantastic coffee shop with great coffee. Beyond the taste, there are many other interesting things in this coffee shop. The taste of the coffee is indeed excellent, with a small and authentic touch. They also sell a variety of coffee beans for you to take back home. What I particularly like is the environmental initiative here. One of the staff members walked up to everyone in the queue to buy a cup that can be taken around the market, and customers could deposit money as a guarantee for its return. When they came back after strolling around Borough Market and enjoying their coffee, they could get the guarantee back, which turned out to be a special discount off the actual price of the coffee after calculating. I believe that when customers return, they will appreciate the effort to care for the environment, and after trying the excellent coffee, they might buy more drinks or coffee beans to take home, leaving with an impressive memory of this shop. The name of this shop is Monmouth.

Great coffee. Aromatic and smooth and fine. 4 stars Unfortunately, the queue was long, and the seating was very limited. Although it could be takeout with a refundable deposit but there were no places around to enjoy the coffee. End up we queue up for 15 minutes with no proprler queue line and many people cut queue. After receiving our coffee, we only managed to secure a standing table. What's a shame.

Best place for coffee in Borough Market. It's difficult to get a seat because it's so crowded but they do have counters so you can stand and perch your coffee. I had an iced latte and almond croissant, both excellent. I've been there many times over the years and now that I live within walking distance, I get to drink their excellent coffee on a regular basis. You can also buy their coffee beans to take home and other coffee making products.

Lovely place for coffee. Staff is very friendly and polite. They have excellent pastries and coffee is perfect. Maybe you'll have to queue up for coffee, but it's definitely worth it.

The long line for coffee here is entirely worth it! We visited Mammoth Coffee near Borough Market, and the coffee, paired with a delightful croissant, is the perfect way to start the day. I believe it's the best coffee in the area, and that's why it attracts a large crowd. Two thumbs up – I highly recommend it! Just be prepared for a lengthy queue, so allocate some extra time for that!

One of the best coffee shops in London! The coffee is excellent, and I love their focus on sustainability & environmentally-friendly approach (no single-use take away cups; no single packs of sugar..) Wish more coffee shops would pay attention to these issues. Tip: If you don’t want to wait in line, come in the late morning on a weekday.

Why? Why can't we always have a coffee at this Café, like it is supposed to be. Why do some people have to make it so much worse by giving us a great taste that makes us regret our last coffee orders? Why can't I live in London right next to this place? Some things I'll never know. I just know now where to go when I want excellent coffee

Monmouth Coffee really is one of the best coffee destinations in London. It’s in Borough market, home of good food and drinks. You won’t get a take-away clip here do bring your own or you’ll have to pay £5 for a reusable cup. Alternatively, have your coffee there and avoid the additional £5 charges. Good selection of pastries, often there is standing room only.

Monmouth coffee is currently my favourite non instant coffee. Great strong taste? How coffee should be. This one is situated within the bustling borough market. You can either drink in or get a takeaway cup. When we went they provided re-usable cups for £5 deposit. You get that back after returning the cups. Handy if you want to walk around the market whilst sipping on the coffee.

So here s the thing, they got a very good concept in trapping costumers. Their coffee is very nice and come at a vast range of blends to be picked from. HOWEVER, you have to purchase their reusable coffee take away cups which are £5 each, and the idea is to sustainably drink coffee and bring your own cup back for a refill. For someone who doesn't live there, it s a trap obviously as you end up having two of their reusable cups that aren't necessary of the most desirebable design, and what are the odds you actually remember taking them with you if you plan to go back to London borough market next?

Almost lost to Londoners but a gift to tourists. Was present at the start of London's coffee evolution, but the perennially long queue makes it hard to get a reminder of that. The wafting smell of newly ground beans, the accommodating service, and excellent coffee are compensation, though. Enjoy the interior, and the sounds from the market, and don't bother with a laptop.

We beat queue by get here early. Great coffee and good cafe vibe by famous Borough market. Had flat white with almond croissant and couldn’t resist another cappuccino! No late art on cappuccino though. A bit of a let down but never mind 😉

my go-to place for coffee beans, must try in London. If you don’t know where to start, COME HERE! The staff are super helpful explaining the beans, origin, even brew small batch of tester for you, no need to worry about not what you expected. Their quality is quite steady, large volume all year long, light roasted mostly good for either pour-over or espresso. Recommend coffee frenzies.

Overall, this coffee shop is a decent option for those looking for a good cup of coffee. The coffee itself tasted quite good and rich, which is always a plus. However, one downside they have is an absence of takeaway cups. They make you purchase £5 reusable cup if one wants their coffee for takeaway (you can always return it and get you money back). This might be a problem for those who want to take their coffee on the go, and it's definitely something that the shop should consider addressing. Additionally, while the coffee was great, pastry was a bit dry and didn't seem to be very fresh. This might not be a problem for everyone, but it's worth noting. On the plus side, the location is great. It's in a convenient spot that's easy to get to, which is always a plus. Overall, I think this coffee shop is worth considering if you're in the area and looking for a good cup of coffee. Just be aware that they might not have takeaway cups available, and the pastries might not be the freshest. But if you're willing to overlook those issues, it's definitely worth a visit.

Possibly the best coffee shop I’ve been to… highly recommend! Queues go quickly, service is super friendly and coffee is great! Love that they don’t do paper cups too! You can leave a £5 deposit for a reusable, refundable if you return it.

Monmouth is a coffeeshop as hectic and as crowded as the Borough Market nearby. Maybe it’s because they expect customers to be in a hurry, however, the staff should rather take their time to prepare the coffee better. In my opinion, especially the cappuccino, had too much milk in it, the milk was to hot and, as a consequence, the coffee was too sweet. Unfortunately, due to this, the cappuccino lacks the taste of the coffee (beans), so I cannot fully recommend going there. There are better coffee shops around London Bridge or

First time visiting the Borough Market shop. We ordered a oat milk ice coffee...very tasty, strong coffee flavour. Love the clay cup concept. You pay £5 and then take the cup away with you but can return this to any other Mamouth coffee shop. Would visit again.

Definitely one of the best coffee shops/ roasteries in the city. Check it out when in the area! There is limited seating (a small corner bench that’s super uncomfortable) but this is more of a take out spot.

Wonderful coffee, non-dairy milk available. Pastries are nice, too, and you can buy ground coffee. If you’re taking a coffee to go, you will be given a reusable cup which you have to pay for, but you can return it to any of their shops and get the money back. Don’t get discouraged by the queue in front, it moves quickly.

Nice and fresh grinded coffee. They don't serve coffee to go in paper cup anymore, instead it is in their solid reusable coffee for £5, which you can return and get the deposit money back. Environmental and I love it!

Superb coffee and very busy on a weekend. Good espresso blend and also a very nice Guatarmala filtered coffee. Bought some beans too!

After savoring a delightful cup of flat white, I noticed its intriguing acidic undertones, which added a refreshing touch to the overall experience. The coffee shop exuded an unmistakable aura of authenticity, creating a warm and inviting ambiance that further enhanced my visit. Additionally, the attentive cashier took the initiative to share information about their sustainable coffee mugs, emphasizing their commitment to environmentally conscious practices. It was truly a gratifying and informative encounter that left a positive impression on me.

Coffee of the day is a bit intense in taste. If you order takeaway be ready to deposit 5 pounds for the mugs. Return when you finish your coffee. As a second experience the coffee taste just not was expected. Crowded places so as the note indicates TAKE CARE OF YOUR BELONGINGS.

The place has a special feeling + the coffee is extremely tasty and smooth. If you ask nicely there is a secret bathroom ;-) As I was extremely surprised about the taste of the truffles :0 And the service was excellent, it a must to try !!!

Popular coffee spot serving delightful coffee and efficient service. Expect long queues! *TIP: Queue's shorter if buying a bag of beans, plus you'll get to put in a coffee order for takeaway

Fantastic coffee, wide selection of choices. Menu changing weekly. Knowledgeable staff who can advise you if you aren't sure what you want. Whole bean or ground according to your brew style. As much or as little as you want, price by weight. Little bit pricey but very high quality. A great treat for me rather than an everyday purchase option.

Really the place to go if you’re a coffee lover. There’s always a queue outside. There are several beans to choose from for your drink and you can buy bags of beans by weight to take home. It’s easy to find on the edge of borough market, just follow your nose!

Love Monmouth Coffee! The best Espresso in town. Got lots of brownie points when I bought some ground Monmouth Coffee Espresso home for my partner. Smells and tastes amazing. keep up the good work!

Very cool idea for helping save the planet. You have to purchase a cup or pay a deposit for a ceramic cup to get your coffee. The charge is given back when you return the cup. The coffee is average but the service and cause are worth it. There are way too many variations of coffee drinks for my little brain hahaha. Place is packed and there will be a line. I say check it out.

This was my first time doing a tour of London. Alison who was my coffee guide at the Park street shop was very pleasant and invited questions. She was patient and explained everything about the different types of coffees. I highly recommend if you in the area you ask for her personally, 5 star treatment.

Start my morning with Latte and crispy almond croissants. Great spot to have coffee before enjoying food in the market. Like the idea of recycling a coffee cup

Big queue (like always) but probably the best coffee in London. Simple, not fussy, that’s how a good cup of coffee should be! The truffle is very nutty and earthy, quite strong with the cocoa flavour.

People do queue up for good reason: the best coffee in London! I particularly love this one near Borough Market as they have seating, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and their cozy ambience conducive for enjoying that perfect coffee of your choice with its dreamy aroma. It’s definitely worth a visit when you’re in town.

Love the coffee, best I’ve had for a very long time. Only complaint, they don’t do bigger cups! Would be great if they just charged more and made bigger sizes.

Great coffee so far in London. Only 4 high seats at the corner and the rest have to stand up for ☕️ Near Borough Market & grabbed a doughnut from Bread Ahead with Monmouth Oat Latte. It was really a good match. Staff Alexandra was very caring for giving me a glass of warm water while saying I wasn’t feeling well. Thanks again🙏🏻 Met 2 nice retired guys from Surrey and Teddington and we had a good chat there.

A must come for coffee enthusiast or if just want to really have a great cuppa. Do beware that there is little seating space and they don’t have paper cups for take away (require to pay a $5 deposit for a reusable cup that can be exchanged back) But really great coffee! And a HUGE selection of beans. Enjoyed my filtered coffee (Kalita brewed) and my wife enjoyed her coffee. Went to also buy their beans for my own brewing! Thumbs up and a must if you are in the Borough market area. You won’t regret the great coffee they serve!

Great coffee and service. Stopped by here on my way to work. Staff is very knowledgeable of the coffee and are very friendly. Would highly recommend Ethiopian coffees here which are fantastic and affordable for what it is. Definitely worth stopping by if in the London Bridge area!!!

Best oat milk cappuccino in London. My favourite coffee shop in London for over 15 years. Totally worth the queue. Very cross with Covid as the charm of the place has gone - I really miss the big table in the middle which is now gone. Standing “bar” space but hardly anywhere to sit apart from window ledge. No high stools - would have loved that (hence 4*).

  • 5/5 Kia S. 1 year ago on Google
Good coffee. Quick service. Lovely staff. Their new reusables scheme is slightly strange but I am hoping it cuts down on the amount of waste. If you do have a reusable cup please do take it with you as they are “renting” you a coffee cup for £5 that you bring back to get your refund. Slightly clunky system but I think it is probably a step in the right direction. Not great though if you aren’t coming back this way.

  • 5/5 James S. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent coffee - they had no takeaway cups available other than ones with a £5 deposit. We stood outside with sit-in cups and drink our coffees before we left. The cappuccinos and macchiatos were perfectly made.

  • 4/5 MOHAMMED A. 2 years ago on Google
One of the best cafes in London. They have high quality and distinctive coffee, but I don't like its place near the food market, where the smells of fish and street food mix while you drink coffee.
