It’s been many years since my first time visited this place. I’m glad the quality is as good as in my memory. I ordered flat white and a vanilla bun. The coffee is perfect with pretty latte art, the bun is nice, but too sweet for me. I think I would prefer to have the cinnamon or cardamom bun next time, or try their cakes. The staffs are friendly, also love the music and decorations in this little cafe. Highly recommend to visit here if you visit London.

Monocle Cafe is a hidden gem for coffee enthusiasts. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee captivates you the moment you step in. The cafe's ambience is cosy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to savour a cup of their exceptional coffee. The baristas are true masters, ensuring each sip is a delightful experience.

The famous shop front of the Monocle cafe is indeed really beautiful. The simplistic black and white with the red bricks in the backdrop is strangely captivating. The space inside is nice and pretty but unfortunately super packed with customers kept streaming in and taking up aisle space. The matcha latte I got was also quite average so I’m not sure if I would go back.

Quaint cafe along Chiltern St, opposite Chiltern Firehouse. Based on the Monocle magazine. Cosy back room. Decent pastries. Matcha latte tasted ok, but was only luke warm unfortunately.

Excellent cafe with lovely seating and great coffee. The cafe is very small, but with some downstairs seating. There is a smaller room with couches in, great for bigger groups. There are a few outdoor seats. The cafe is very chilled inside.

I like Monocle a lot… but given it only four stars for a few reasons. It’s one of my first experiences with coffee in London years ago, and I have very fond memories of that time. There coffee is good but I’ve surely had better. The portion is smaller than average, but more expensive than the usual. The place is very well designed and a spectacle to the eye, but too small for how busy it gets. However their is a basement level which tends to have more seating areas, however it’s a bit too stuffy for my taste. It’s still one if my must go to coffee shops when I’m in London.

Delicious coffee - I love that my mocha was not steamed to a scalding hot temperature. It was perfect. The ambiance of the cafe was adorable.

Ordered a latte and a sweet bun to go but ended up staying in. The coffee was nice, staff good, and a warm inviting atmosphere. Unfortunately they just ran out of cardamom buns so I bought one of the other flavours. It was nice but nothing special. Would visit again for the cakes and coffee. They look delicious!

I had a bun and green oolong tea. No regret! The tea was AMAZING and I got hot water three times! The bun was also really good and simple. I saw many reviews saying it's a small place, I went here on Tuesday 2:30pm so it wasn't so busy. But I might avoid to come during the weekend or busy time. The place was super cute and had a good vibe, and even the toilet! Even though the toilet was very small, it was warm- they had a bidet- and I was so satisfied with this kind of details.

Cute cafe! 🥰 They have indoor and outdoor seating and the cafe has a really cozy vibe! We came here to study but they don’t have Wi-Fi. The tea came in paper cups which was kind of disappointing. The size of the cup and the tea bag didn’t match - the cup was too small and the tea bag too big. So the tea got super strong in a really short time 🥲 Would come back to sit outside and try the coffee ☕️ since it’s really nice 😊

The Monocle Cafe is a beautifully decorated cosy cafe, that is quite busy, specially on weekends. It was difficult to find a seat at first. There is a ground floor area, that has high chairs, a small room with some couches and a downstairs area. I got a latte and a cardamom bun, both were really good quality (both together £7.75). However, because of the business I had to wait about 10-12 mins for my latte to arrive, which wasn’t a problem since it gave me time to get a free table.

The service at this cafe really leaves more to be desired for, and the quality of coffee is very inconsistent. I've been twice recently both times the ladies at the cafe were quite cold and acted like they were not so interested to provide service. Today my skinny flat white was like coffee-flavoured water, chocolate missing, no sugar on tray. The high table was not properly wiped-down and was sticky. Yes the cafe is on a nice location but really I'd rather take my money to support other cafes which 1) genuinely provide good coffee and 2) have staff who want to be there

Ah....finally no queue today:) Been hoping to visit this place for 2 weeks now but there has been a queue always. Today I managed to get in! Loved the Latte and the Swedish cardamom buns (£3.75 a pop!).

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in London. Coffee is definitely the best I had while visiting the city. And the buns? Amazing. I was in London for five days and came here twice. Also the girls that work here are the sweetest. Can't wait to be back!

Great coffee, very good cakes (the tutti frutti is fabulous), healthy light Japanese influenced food, and a small selection of alcohol after noon. This is a really great place for a pit stop in the area. The staff are all incredibly bright and very friendly. Dogs are welcome. The 20 minute table limit is the only downside (if I wanted fast food I’d go to McDonalds).

Literally, a hidden gem in london. It's amazing place with speciality coffee and pastries, it's really a lovely place. The wooden interior makes the place very cozy and welcoming.. and well crafted 👍 It's very japanese feeling when you enter, you can sense it, it has upper seating, downstair seating, and outside seating. All are nice, the downstair seating is warmer and a bit darker, i prefer natural sunlight areas. The staff is nice, the food and coffee is the best, speciality coffee is really a signature.. I enjoyed my time there, reading a book while having a nice warm coffee in a corner with such a beautiful window view toward the garden, can't ask for me, it's just perfect. highly recommended!

I loved this place so much! I had the cardamon bun and it was so delicious and fresh! Such a small cute cafe so it will be hard to get a seat when busy but it’s definitely worth the visited Cardamon bun was £4.20

I was told this cafe was good. I accidentally went to the book shop, but the polite staff pointed me down the road. Quite narrow as you enter but those staff are on the ball and served me with good timing and curiosity. The cinnamon buns are amazing and reminded me of my Swedish fika days. I waited at the back and the kind lady brought me my items as the cafe was now extremely busy. £7 for an americano with oat milk and bun, extremely reasonable considering it was like being back in Sweden. Recommended and tucked away nicely.

(Translated by Google) Cafe managed by the famous magazine Monocle! You can get a glimpse of the tastes of the representatives of Monocle, and you can see and purchase Monocle goods, including magazines, in real life. Coffee and bakeries are also delicious, and the daily meal menu is also good. The pork cutlet sandwich is delicious, but it usually seems to be out of stock in the early afternoon! If you have a long London itinerary, this is a recommended cafe 😊 (Original)

Very trendy Japanese style cafe. Seating upstairs and downstairs (downstairs is warmer) the pastries are really nice. Only downside is, their bagels are kept cold, would have been nice if they were warm. And there's not much to choose (food wise) on the menu. I had saw on Google a dish I wanted to try, but the photo was taken a few years ago, but I hadn't realised😔, so I couldn't get it.

I try the cardamom bun and cinnamon bun, personally recommend the cardamom bun. The cardamom aroma is quite elegant and the bun is moist, not too sweet, and good. A cinnamon bun is less cinnamon aroma and is a bit drier than a cardamom one. As for the latte is okay but not the best. The pro is the atmosphere is cosy, but the con is there is no wifi to use so it’s not convenient if you want to use a laptop here.

They went out of their way to not serve me today. The computer says no! It’s not a wonder businesses go under, there are another two cafes within a minutes walk and the first one was happy to sell me a coffee.

The cafe seating is limited but cosy. The meals offered are delicious, no-fuss, cafe style feeds. The presentation of everything at Monocle Cafe feels very well considered from the plates to the interior! You could easily spend an afternoon here sipping on coffee and cake, flicking through the gorgeous Monocle magazine and travel guides! Definitely a gem. The coffee here is silky goodness :)

Finally tried The Monocle Cafe. Ordered flat white & almond croissant bun. So far I like the coffee, it’s good. They have quite tiny space both in the ground and underground floors. I’d recommend to come here only for a quick coffee, for a chat with friends, or for having coffee while reading a book, but not for work. Service is quite fast & good which I appreciate given the cafe is quite busy. They’re located in nice area (around Marylebone) which is perfect to have a go-to-coffee before shop hopping.

One of my favourite spots in London! Always busy, and not surprised. Excellent hot drinks and the cardamom buns are delicious. So delicious that I rarely ever eat anything else. My only complaint is that the yuzu iced tea they used to sell was the best iced tea I’ve had in my life, bring it back!

A fail latte with too much foam on top and made with milk which temperature was too high! A disappointed coffee drinking experience for dining in. One of the staffs was saying it doesn’t matter as the latte is just too foamy! What a shame for such a cosy cafe located in an elegant street!

This is my favourite coffee spot in London. It’s on the most peaceful and beautiful street (in Marleybone), and the coffee is amazing. I love coming here on a early Sunday or Saturday morning, ordering a latte and pastry, and enjoying it at one of the tables outside.

A specialty coffee shop will never stick to the familiar coffee, but will provide more specialties and choices! Be sure to try Cortado or Plccolo. They are all very fragrant and rich. There are two floors and plenty of space. Tables are big and comfortable. This is a treasure coffee shop in London!

I have been frequenting this monocle cafe for the past few years and this review reflects my disappointing and horrible experience today. The food quality dropped substantially while the price has increased. I ordered the goma udon to dined in with a cortado. The bland noodle dish came in a cardboard and plastic box not dissimilar to pret, though the latter has much better taste for a much cheaper price point. The flat udon is covered with julienne strips of vegetable with a drizzle of what tasted like store-bought sesame sauce. A small piece of lemon and rocket on the side. How cheap can you be not to even bother plating the dish for a dine-in customer. To serve in a cardboard box is lazy. No napkins were provided. Compared to the Japanese or Nordic breakfast i had in the past, this is a serious downgrade for a dining experience. The cortado tasted burnt with a horrible bitter aftertaste. Please consider improving the quality to match what monocle customers would expect. Also consider wiping the table in the living room.

My favorite cafe in London. Super cute and cozy.. you meet so many people from different parts of the world and the coffee is really good too. I have the matcha once in a while but typically go for an americano - either iced or hot!

  • 2/5 Akira 8 months ago on Google
Service is good, cosy atmosphere but the food is horrible. Trid the Hojicha latte and chocolate basque cheese cake, unbelievable tnat I paid more than £10 for that. Hojicha latte didn't have enough Hojicha flavour. I would rather make it by myself at home, more tasty. Basque cheese cake really dry, texture more like brownie, not creamy at all. where is my cream cheese?! 😩 You can see how dry it is from my picture. I'm so disappointed about the food. Don't get me wrong, except food, everything alright.

Great little space on a great little street. Everything Monocle is well done - coffee, small plates, lots of reading material 👌🏼 Plus their two shops are next door.

The matcha cake was superb, must try. The coffee was fine. A nice lovely cafe though a bit small and crowded.

  • 5/5 Dan T. 3 years ago on Google
The coffee is *amazing*! I've had many coffees that claim notes of hazelnut, but never have I found them as clear and indulging as I did in the flat white at The Monocle. They have a selection of bagels and some really tasty cinnamon rolls too.

I enjoyed purchasing at Monocle, but shouldn't bother to visit the cafe! Terrible service! I was offered a free drink voucher after purchasing a book, however in the Cafe they treated me differently from others who were paying for their drinks. Clearly the voucher is for a free 'coffee or tea', I was ordering a Matcha Latte and the staff stopped me by asking me to pay £1.5 more. If it's like this why don't you just call it £3 voucher rather than a 'free drink voucher'?? Everyone who ordered after me got their drinks. I was standing and waiting there and the staff asked me 'you ok?' I am not OK I am waiting for my drink! After another 5mins finally my drink was ready! Ignorant, not friendly, won't recommend.

Found this little gem on our last day in London. The food was simple yet excellent! Everything was flavored perfectly, and the portion was just right for breakfast. Sadly the latte although presented beautifully was quite light for my taste. So if you have never been here, my recommendation to you, skip the coffee and enjoy the food!

  • 5/5 Richard S. 3 years ago on Google
First things first. The coffee is great, and the pastries are delicious. But this place is also cool and comfortable. Some coffee shops try so hard to be hip you end up feeling you're disturbing the decor simply by being there (unless you're Bryan Ferry). Others are all about comfort and end up looking like someone's living room. Monocle strikes just the right balance between cool and comfort. Make sure you check out the basement that doubles as an art gallery. When the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is great to watch stylish people parade on Chiltern Street.
