THE WORST HOSTEL EVER. This is my first ever written Google review which I had to write to possibly save as many fellow travellers as possible. I can't believe anyone would have given more than one star. Toilets and showers are extremely dirty, door locks are broken and sinks are full. I've never in my life seen such a bad hostel in any country. I feel so sorry for the ones who say this is the best hostel in UK - this level of hostel should not even exist since this is ruining the reputation of hostels. We couldn't sleep at all since the rooms were so hot, zero air-conditioning, luckily windows could be open, paper thin walls, the beds were moving so much if turning from one side to an other... If you don't mind broken dirty toilets, tiny shower areas full of water, shaky beds with hot indoor air, then book this, it's cheep. (We paid 25€/ 2 people in a 8 people dorm). Otherwise, pay little bit of extra and take Airbnb and simply enjoy your life. (I must say our receptionist was very nice. He did his job absolutely very well.) I hope someone will truly believe this feedback and will book an other place. The ones who book Prime Backpackers anyway: you are my heroes and I salute you.

Laid-back hostel 5 minutes walk away from Angel tube station. The hostel is pretty chill. There is a group of residents who hang out often and the rest just sleep there. Very big kitchen. There are not enough toilets (only 3 for the hostel). The beds are very small (190cm).

I came by Prime hostel to check it out while in town. It looked really cool and was very comfortable inside. I spoke with Cezar who said he was the manager. He was super friendly, told me all about the hostel, activities in the area, and made me feel really welcome. If all the staff are like him then this has to be an awesome hostel. I am definitely planning to stay here next time I am in London.

Incredible hostel in London for a very good price! The staff and volunteers are always very willing and friendly. The beds are comfortable, the showers are good and the cleaning is very good. I would add more storage space in the rooms, but the rest is impeccable. The location is excellent with several buses and metro nearby. Special mention to Federico y Cezar who from day one welcomed us very familiarly and was always open to our needs. I definitely recommend it and would go again.

I can understand that most businesses these days are trying to shove debit and credit cards down the consumers' throats, by using pandemic as an excuse. But it's such a shame, that the management refuses to take in guests just because they don't have cards handy, and want to pay in cash. Had to rebook somewhere else at the spot, causing huge inconvenience with all the luggage in hand. Even though receptionist was nice and apologetic, 1 star is for the management. Hope they could be more flexible in future.

Best hostel in London IMHO! There's an open kitchen area and huge dining table for hanging out and the volunteer staff are super welcoming to all! Good place to work or party or relax There could be more bathrooms, but the place is kept really clean and the rooms are sizable and good value :) Would recommend!

Can't deny this place was great value - especially for London. However, the dorm rooms were pretty basic - not even a shelf by the bed - and not many facilities for the number of guests. The kitchen was large and well equipped.

This hostel was the best hostel we’ve been to in the UK! The room was very clean, the kitchen was clean and very well-equipped. The staff was super nice and helpful. And also they were chilling in the kitchen a lot, listening to cool music, working on their laptops and chatting with us and giving us advice! This gave the hostel a real family vibe! It honestly felt like a family hostel. Super chill and super cute. Also it’s possible to borrow hairdryers and towels for free! Additionally, they offered free pancakes on Sunday and a family dinner every Thursday:) The only downside was the bathrooms, they were good but not excellent. But since this was the only downside, I will still give this hostel 5 starts ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stayed in the hostel for 3 nights and we loved it!

Worsted hostel's I ever book they wear no mask and crowded.1 bathroom share for two floors.i am tired of up and down to use the bathroom.kitchen nice and big clean but always crowded.loud music 🎵 always playing so you can't hear yourself.troublemaker people if you want a peaceful place peace of mind here is not for you.beds or nice but not good sleep room always could. and is who knows how if you stand up for yourself they don't like you. What a thing hostel's gawn to I miss those days when hostel's was hostel's.now pure young people who runs and valentair no experience necessary to provide any service just do something for accommodation. Just for a night or weekend or if you in the messy crew O and there is a beautiful king's cross studio not in service close since last year but website still booking people I lost my money 💵 do don't book. Management said that they try to contact the website to tell them not to book anyone.

The 'family meal share' on Thursday nights gives the accommodation a real community feel. Comfortable beds, friendly staff & clean. Reasonable price & great experience

Great location, but wouldn’t choose to stay here again. We were in a 9 bed dorm and the electricity sockets by our beds didn’t work. This meant we couldn’t charge our phones overnight, as we needed them nearby for the morning alarm. Then, we found the locker situation strange and hard to use. The lockers were stacked as high as the 3 story bunks, and so the only way to use the top one was to hang off the side of the top bunk. Completely unsafe and impractical. My friend and I ended up sharing one locker, but they are pretty small, and don’t fit more than 1 cabin suitcase. The staff are good at explaining where everything is kept, although we were only given one key for our group, which was a strange decision. I’m sure we could have asked for a second but we decided not to bother in the end. The hostel itself it’s pretty tired and shabby, including ripped up carpet on all the staircases which can trip you up. There are nowhere near enough bathrooms to accommodate the number of guests, we found 4 toilets, and 2 of these had a shower as well, so at times it was a long wait to use the bathroom. I suppose for the price these things are to be expected, but combined with the other things mentioned it made it hard to see any positives about the place. Unfortunately, during our stay we experienced other guests running around the stairwell, mucking about and slamming doors at all hours. It felt like being in a student house with a bunch of lads. This is obviously not the fault of the hostel, but it could be the vibe of the place generally, as there are a lot of people living there. We wouldn’t stay here again until at least the bathroom situation and personal plug socket issues were fixed.

“I had a wonderful stay at Prime Backpackers Angel, and a big part of that was thanks to Federico and Cezar .The accommodation was lovely, with comfortable beds and a welcoming environment. What I appreciated the most was their flexibility and consideration; they kindly changed my room to one with fewer people to make my stay more comfortable. Their friendly approach and dedication to guest satisfaction truly made my experience memorable. I would highly recommend staying here!”

Ok I'm gonna be straight Federico, the manager is the worst most disgusting and creepy person. He's trying to get with absolutely everyone but when he hears no then he's turning to be the most rude and macho offened guy. If you're a girl and you don't want to feel uncomfortable and harassed please stay away from this place. It's a nice hostel but as long as he's there no girl is safe.

I was coming from Saudi Arabia and it was a nice visit. The rooms were clean and comfortable and what distinguished them most was quiet and the employees were good, but there was an employee who was experienced in management and solving any problem and he helped me. I do not remember his name but he wears glasses and he is from Argentina. I thank him very much.

Tipically I don't leave reviews but your hostel earned a special one, writing this with the sole purpose of warning other female backpackers especially solo travelers. I came with my girlfriends for a weekend visit, expecting to explore London and have fun. The hostel was overall nice, staff was friendly we danced and chilled but then the so - called manager Federico became too friendly and honestly his stares creeped me out his "jokes" about our looks were bottom line sexual harassment and made all of us very uncomfortable I couldn't report him given the short period of time but I hope your upper management takes the appropriate action!!! Thanks for ruining our weekend!!!

Very cozy, comfortable and clean place. Well located. Enough space to rest and have a tea or coffee quietly. Large kitchen available to customers. Quiet atmosphere. All the staff are very friendly. Both Federico and Ellen were very attentive and considerate. My partner and I were very grateful for the good treatment we received.

If you're going to London, this is definitely the place to stay. It's great location, cozy environment and wide variety of facilities make this hostel a perfect spot to set base camp for your London adventure. The manager, Federico, and all the volunteers are so warm and welcoming that you'll always feel at home.

Cozy little hostel, 6 bedroom as you should expect it, two 3-story beds, a bit shaky when climbing up, that’s it. Bathrooms mostly clean, as long as the other guest clean up after themselves. Free pancakes on Saturday 😋

This place is fantastic - the vibe is amazing, the staff are awesome, there’s a massive kitchen, a PlayStation, Netflix, social events every other day and is right by a supermarket and tube station. Frederico, Isabella, and Luisa who work there were super helpful.

I know not to expect much from a hostel, but I thought I’d have a nicer experience having booked a private room and especially because the website makes everything sound so nice and luxurious. I was wrong. First of all, the staff didn’t answer several emails from my friend who made the booking about the room and the check-in process, so we had no idea if I would be able to check in before her until I got there. Then guy who checked me in was very rude about the size of my suitcase after HE offered to carry it part of the way for me - It’s not like anyone told me to expect my room to be at the top of endless flights of steep stairs with no elevator. The worst part though is, I laid down to take a nap as soon as I checked in as I was exhausted from a red-eye flight from America. A couple hours in, that same guy who checked me in just lets himself into my room and then has the audacity to ask if it’d be okay if he put another person in our room, just because we had an extra bed. Excuse me?? It’s a PRIVATE room for a reason, that we’d already paid a ridiculous amount of money for. The lack of professionality was appalling. I was deeply anxious throughout the stay knowing this person had access to my room at any given moment and clearly had no problem just letting himself in. The other employees and fellow guests we corresponded with were all great, which is why I gave more than one star for service, but my experience with this person soured the experience. The location of the room relative to the kitchen and exit was very uncomfortable with having to go up and down several flights of old, rickety stairs constantly, the bedroom and bathrooms were very tiny and cramped, and with the look of the place and the way everything was set up it felt like I was staying in a complete stranger’s personal home rather than a business I paid in exchange for hospitality and safety.

Very basic accommodation as you would exact at this price for the location. However I was pleasantly surprised as the bed was really comfortable the staff were very welcoming and friendly and the facilties and additional services offered were great. Would definitely stay again.

My partner and I stayed here in the middle of May in a private room. The bathrooms were clean as well as the room. The staff was very friendly and accommodating since we had an awkward arrival and check out due to our travel plans. I am planning on staying here again! Thank you so much for the quality stay at an great price!

I had fun at this hostel with the other guests, we enjoyed a delicious family meal on Thursday evening, however the toilets for the rooms were lacking in so many areas. My floor had no toilet, we had to walk to the lower level to use a toilet. The showers also were no very good and flooded the floors leading to the sinks. All in all the washing up and toilets were disappointing. As for the beds my bunk had a charging port in a cupboard under the ladder going to the top bunk, it was very awkward, almost impossible to use. Also my pillow and mattress were gross and stained, very disgusting to look at let alone sleep on. The staff need some training in customer service, the pair that I met were downright hostile to me. I was not impressed with their attitude. Sorry Prime! You could shine if you improved on these few shortfalls. Bus to the train station going to Gatwick is first class. The metro station is also close by.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in so far! All of the staff, longtermers, and traveller's I met were awesome, super welcoming, and really made the experience. Prime is in a great location with multiple bus stations and a train station all within a 10 minutes walk, not to mention the grocery stores, pubs, and other shops. It's a great area and was quite safe even late at night. The only thing that I think could be improved upon is perhaps getting a fan or two in the bunk rooms for the summer at least, as it was quite unbearable during the heatwave. Other than that, all facilities were great, and I'll definitely be back!

Great place to stay. Clean and friendly. Spacious and airy! People of all ages and from all over the world stay at the hostel. There's a home from home feel and it has a big dining area and has all cooking facilities you'll need. There's a lounge and TV area. The hostel is cheap and conveniently located. There are lots of local amenities. There's a market, shopping area and a number of big food stores. There are good transport links to all over London. There's everything you'll need in the area. The hostel is a buzzing place. It's safe and fun 😊

  • 1/5 Sol Di V. 1 year ago on Google
Ok facilities (tho 3 story bank bed) and NOT the most helpful and welcoming staff. But the worst part: I COULDN’T SLEEP any of the nights I stayed there. People come and go slamming doors, turning on lights and I’m pretty sure a random guy just came in at night, looked for an empty bed and decided to sleep there. VERY BIZARRE HOSTEL, and definitely overpriced. Would not recommend.

I had a great time at Prime Backpackers. The environment is nice and all the team and guests make you feel at home. The rooms and the common areas are clean and tidy. If you looking for a place to make friends and cook and share your own food, I highly recommend this hostel.

I stayed in this hostel for a few weeks because I could find a room I could offer after my previous room contract ended, and I enjoyed it. It felt like home; the staff were lovely, and the kitchen was big and tidy.

Its hard to say what this hostel would be like during peak times as due to COVID there was only about 3 other guests staying there when I stayed (which is probably a good thing in the current climate). But the facilities are great, nice big homely common room and places to hang out, location is really close to Angel underground and Angel is a create place to return to at the end of the day. What made this place special though is the manager Georgia who is so full of life and enthusiasm you just can't help but get pulled along with her. A real pleasure to meet. I would definitely stay here again!

My stay at prime backpackers was fab, I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming Atmosphere. Georgia and Michael made us feel so at ease and at home and we're so accommodating to our needs. We instantly felt like friends. The room was very comfortable and clean including the bathrooms. The place has a very relaxed and friendly vibe and we will definitely be staying again. Thanks again, love Beth and Grace x

I love the friendly staff and manager. they are very friendly and professional at what they do. I always feel like I am at home away from home. Rooms are always clean and maintained, beds are comfy and clean. storage space is fairly good. My favourite place is the kitchen, it has everything you need and as a gesture they offer free tea, milk, sugar, coffee, and salt. When it comes to the toilets and showers I always notice it clean. In general I find the place spacious to relax and I love the music and entertainment in here. Finally I will recommend this place to all.

I would definitely stay in this hostel again. :) We stayed in the female dorm and it was really a pleasant stay. The location is perfect, the facilities were good and clean, huge kitchen and common area is great. There are shops nearby, subway and bus stop as well. Staff was nice and friendly. In general the atmosphere was really nice.

Awesome hostel, stayed for a week and was quite sad to be leaving within a few days. Staff was great and other guests too. Spacious kitchen/living room with couches conducive to meeting people. Staff organizes great events, I recommend trying the Thursday one, which was like a huge family dinner for staff/guests. Felt like a home while I stayed there.

Very good experience, hostel looks welcoming, communal areas are big enough (three separate rooms) with free to use musical instruments, books, tv's etc. and kitchen is spacious and well equipped, bathrooms very tidy! Kind and helpful staff and they provide fresh bedding and towels to visitors. Would recommend a stay and will probably come back! Thanks:)

The location is very good and accessible to bus stops and grocery stores. There is a Co-op shop just few blocks away. The staff are very helpful. I was given a quick tour on my arrival before taking me to my bunk. The hostel is generally neat. There are alot of toilets to share and they are clean and in good condition. The washroom is also clean. The other backpackers were well behaved and polite. Each bed space is equipped with a mini lamp and sockets for charging your devices. The beddings are clean. There is free wifi with good reception. There are no personal lockers in the room so you may have to come with your own mini-padlock for your bag. I like the fact that the doors to each room have access keys for the occupants of that room only. Overall, it was good value for money 👍

Good location, near the bus stop and the metro station. It gets really loud at night and the staff provides you with free earplugs! We loved the large kitchen and the atmosphere. They even cook free pancakes for everyone on Sunday mornings! We loved the staff, especially Dana! She was very kind and gave us a warm welcome by taking us on a tour of the place. Beds are quite uncomfortable and some of the sockets and USB plugs didn’t work during our stay. There aren’t enough lockers in the room for your luggage so be sure to bring a padlock. Toilets also get quite busy in the morning as there are just a few of them. The place was quite clean though. Overall we had a good stay!

Being a solo traveler and staying at this hostel for over a week, end of September 2022, I really like this place with helpful staff, caring people, laid-back atmosphere, family diner, artcraft evening, sunday pancakes and much more. It is located near all amenities, transport, markets and walking distance to a very charming canal. There are games, books, guitars, piano and TV to entertain yourself. I have met beautiful travelers who got to be also part of the staff, they helped me navigating through London. I was missing them when I left. Would definitely go back to this place :))

Clean but my room was facing the road, which was very noisy and had no air conditioning. The bunk beds in my room had 3 beds on top of each other and where coupled. So when you moved out your bed you waked up 5 other people. @Prime Backpackers: Please buy more robust beds...

  • 5/5 Helge André B. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing experience for the price. Got the room key and all information in under 5 minutes as I had to make it to a football match. Other guests sleeping in the room were also respectful of each other

In terms of hostels the best quality I look for is the environment, and this place had that for sure. All the guests and staff here were insanely friendly and nice. There was a deep community. It was about a 50/50 split of long term residents and backpackers. Everyone cleaned up after themselves in the common spaces which was beyond impressive, and the space was very large and cozy. The beds were clean, and there were both individual and dorm bathrooms all of which were kept very clean. The location being in Angel is top tier for accessing the city and night life. Only downside was no place to lock up belonging within individual rooms, and the bed frames were a tad bit wobbly. 10/10 would be the hostel I go back to again in London out of all the others I've been to.

Please sort out the music in your common areas. One volunteer constantly blasting his own music through a speaker, morning, night. Can’t ever work, relax or cook in peace. On full volume, techno, rap - it’s not your home dude. Also, I really didn’t get the furniture. All broken, torn, smelt awful. There’s a ton of furniture given away in London, or bought for pennies, in excellent condition - why all of these awful sofas? In general the place is run by volunteers for free stay so there’s no system, everyone does their own thing. I would imagine it could suit a particular crowd but I won’t return.

An inclusive community and a great space! Prime Backpackers Angel has everything you need to enjoy your stay in London! Perfect location in the heart of London, good facilities (toilets and showers always clean, huge kitchen with four set of hobs and ovens, fridges and shelves to store your food, in addition to the hostel providing the basic cutlery, utensils and spices for cooking as well as milk for breakfast!). Most importantly, the community of volunteers and long-termers is great, the Family Dinner on Thursday are the best and you even have a Tv area with netflix and other apps and a few more "protected" desks to do some WFH. I spent 3 weeks while searching for a long-term accommodation in London and it was great! Will come back for sure for family dinners or cocktail nights, thanks a lot for having me!

Recently, I had an excellent experience with Cezar while inquiring about a stay for a work-related event in a few months from now. He went above and beyond, kindly providing detailed information and giving me advice about my stay and the city. The hostel seems very nice and clean and the manager’s helpfulness made it an easy choice for my upcoming stay. Highly recommended it and hope all works well for my stay this year and on the next work related events as well.
