A small bistro located on the high street, serving a range of pastas, salads, filled baguettes etc. Brunch is also served here. This place is quite small and it does get very busy. The portion sizes are quite large, so you'll need to make room for it. It's perfect for lunch or an early dinner. Good variety of food to choose from, the pricing is very reasonable. The staff are excellent, helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend it.

I was recommended to come here and I have to say I'm impressed! We had delicious food and the staff were lovely. It got busier the longer we were there which is always great to see in the current climate but you can especially see why this place is busy most of the time.

Hands down the best cafe in Barnet! Amazing, fresh food cooked by the sweetest people ever. Huge portions. Great coffee. Definitely looking forward to trying out all the future additions to the menu, but in the meantime do try their festive burger with extra turkey and stuffing + the side of gravy. Yum!

We had brunch at this local restaurant on the scorching 9th of September of UK! It was quite an experience. The portions were humongous, ensuring I left with a full and satisfied stomach. The service was decent, and the ambiance created a nice vibe throughout the meal. It's definitely worth a visit for a hearty brunch! I will update this review once I try other mouth watering items on the menu.

The standout dish for me was their poached eggs served with a generous portion salmon and fried goat cheese. The eggs were perfectly poached, with the yolks oozing out in the most satisfying way when I cut into them. The fried goat cheese was a delightful surprise, offering a crispy and creamy contrast that paired wonderfully with the eggs. It's a combination I hadn't tried before, and it left a lasting impression.

Food was good , service a bit slow, had to make my own salad dressing, carbonara was a bit salty. Overall it was good

Today I went to Carpe Diem for lunch, and it was absolutely worth the wait for a table. The food is very good, £5.50 for a plain Omelette with Chips was great and the portion size too. The staff are absolutely lovely and ever so welcoming. A very nice atmosphere inside and the decor is outstanding. Without a doubt, the best cafe in Whetstone High Street and a very good selection of food!

Really nice food for a cafe. Definitely above the norm. Very busy at lunchtime, we grabbed a table outside (which as it was mid winter were not so popular!) Service was a little chaotic just because it was so busy.

The best place ever. Welcoming friendly staff, great atmosphere, fantastic food cooked fresh, generous portions..... What more can one ask for. Michael cooks a mean steak burger and a chicken and chorizo burger. I'll order either one whenever I go there and am never disappointed. Hats off.

My husband and I we went there to ask if they are still open to have a quick drink after a nice walk to the park, I'm heavily pregnant and i was really in need of a cold drink! The lady was very rude, she barely even make eye contact. I will never step a foot in such a place with such attitude people!

This is a small little cafe on the high street which can very busy sometimes! Every time we have come we are stuffed to the brim. We love coming here as the food always tastes great and there’s lots on the menu to choose from. If only there were bigger as we have come by a few times and they were full!

Carpe Diem is absolute gem ! It is what every good cafe/restaurant should aspire to be. Fantastic food, large portions but very reasonably priced. The only problem will be deciding what to have from the extensive menu. Everything I have had has been so delicious. The staff are also really lovely and you can relax with friends and never feel rushed despite it being busy. Wonderful place.

Good food with generous portions and value for money. The pasta is really good. The fries are better that mcdonald's. Their OJ is really fresh abs the best I've had in the area. Only negative is the size of the place. As it's so small you'll be waiting for a table for a while at peek times, also it can feel a bit cramped at times but still worth it.

Great food, good price, terrible service. Grumpy faces when we came in. When we finished our meal, just because there was two gentlemen waiting to be seated, lady rushed us out. She asked if we were finished the second I put my fork down and before I even attempted asking for another drink, she said “do you want to pay?! Come here!” So, good choice if you want a quick 15 min meal, bad choice if you meeting a friend and want to enjoy your lunch. Shame really, as staff I saw there previously was much nicer

Great food at reasonable prices. Big meals so make sure you are hungry when you go. Seats are quite close together. Place is normally packed. Was lucky to seat in the corner this time. Other times I have given up because very busy.

My first visit , weekday lunch and it was busy . The bistro is not big but the food was delicious ! My prawn risotto was flavoursome , rich and the prawns were fresh and juicy . Fresh orange juice was refreshing . My friends chicken salad was also v tasty . Food portion was so generous that I had to take away the left over risotto and my hubby also enjoyed it too! Highly recommend and definitely can’t wait to go back ! Can’t find parking space outside the bistro but we parked in the m and s nearby ( also went in to do shopping ) .

Pleasant Coffee but served yesterdays Croissant! Nice friendly place I would have given it a higher rating but served a slightly dry stale Croissant from the previous day's batch (Would've been soft if fresh) and also served with a weird Blue toilet napkin? Apart from that a nice ambience.

A delightful spot for lunch, plenty of outdoor seating available so is ideal for current government guidelines. A wide variety of sandwiches, breakfasts, hot drinks and smoothies available all reasonably priced. Friendly staff who provided a good service, definitely recommend and we will be back again.

6 stars for this little gem? In short the burgers were large and full of flavour, with a large portion of fries and interesting salads. I would have paid more for the large portion size and food quality we received. I saw the pasta dishes too, which were also huge! Great customer service too. Only issue was it can get a bit chilly. I shall definitely return. Specific food: I ordered the chicken & chorizo burger. My friend ordered the ultimate burger (one of the days specials). Both required a knife and fork to eat - the chicken was not dry and the beef in the ultimate burger melted in your mouth. They came with an interesting salad which included avocado, bell pepper, cucumber and pomegranate. I couldn't forget the huge portion of chips (I opted for sweet potato fries - worth it).

We have been going to this place for a few years now. It has a big variety of lovely food big portions and always delicious. There is no other place in north London which serves good fresh food and the staff always sooo kind and helpful

The dishes are quite large so you can share easily with two people. The food was delicious! I would suggest the calamari as dish was especially nice.

Great little gem of a restaurant, amazing food and perfect location. Giving it four stars as I've been here 3 times in the past 2 months and they've accidentally overcharged me every time. They don't provide an itemised bill so its hard to know if you have/haven't been overcharged but worth double-checking when you pay.

Really amazing taste and very polite staff. Before I come this place I checked the reviews and I decided to visit. That’s to the reviews for not letting me down. Defo will be visiting again !
