Nice to finally try this famous fish n chips place. The venue is very warm with a really lovely American vibe decor. I had the recommended haddock and chips and it was so much that I couldn’t eat it all. Taste wise it was delicious but not the best fish n chips that I’ve had in London. The waitress wasn’t the friendliest but very accommodating. Overall, I would recommend to go to the restaurant at least once.

Ever since I got to try out their fish & chips in their Camden Town branch years back, Poppies had since become my favourite go to restaurant for fish and chips. I visited this branch in Aug 2022 for the very first time and it didn't disappoint. The food here is just as good and the interior design is full of character. The waiters were very friendly and even showed me the entire ground floor area as well as the basement, giving me more photo taking opportunity which I truly appreciate. It was a very pleasant experience where me n my partner were able to immerse ourselves in another world of delicious authentic English fish & chips as well as surrounded by all the charming little objects on display. Can't wait to go back again the next time I'm in London.

The Best fish and chips ever ! You can choose the size (medium or large) and the fish also. Fresh fish, good chips, it's cheaper to Take-away. Some seats in front of the shop. Very famous, in every guide. You can go there, it's very good.

Really cool dining experience for an authentic English fish and chips! The calamari was good too. Slightly pricey compared to the usual but the ambiance and location make up for it. Service was friendly and quick! Toilets could have been cleaner. Would recommend if you’re in the area.

The haddock fish and chips were delicious. Crispy outside and juicy inside. Honemade tartar sauce and chips were adfictive. The portion was big enough for us 2 small eater to share. 4 stars No queue time was needed. Serving within 5 minutes upon ordering.

Best fish and chips in the world. Crisp with bite on the outside, softly steamed fish (haddock or cod) on the inside - a parcel of deliciousness! Best eaten on a warm summers day on a bench, steps in the street, or in a park. Can’t go wrong with either haddock or cod - one serving is big, so you can share it.

Ordered the squid for appetizers. Wouldn't recommend as it was 5 or 6 pounds for just a couple pieces. The fish and chips were okay - a little blend in flavor to be honest. Service was great though and food came quickly.

We wanted to try the fish & chips in this place recommended to us by a local friend. We decided to take it away, however the interior was well furnished and very typical like the uniform of the waiters. I went to the bathroom and tried to wash my hands but the tap water was really too hot and there was no way to change it.The fish was very good and also very greasy, perhaps a little heavy but tasty. They forgot to give us cutlery for the take away so we had to eat with our hands.

Great diner. Fish and chips were good, not oily. Super fun atmosphere. Service was quick, but not overly friendly. I did find it a bit too expensive for what I recieved.

Tried the fish and chips - cod . Super yummy. Service was quite fast despite peak hour. The waiters were very nice and professional. Fish cooked to perfection , literally one of my favourite fish and chips in london. Place is clean and has a really good vibe. Definitely recommend to all to try the best fish and chips here!

This was a great experience, best fish and chips in town. The staff was great and suggested the cod for a more delicate taste, moreover the tartar sauce was great. At the end they also offer some candies with the bill. The ambience is great very funny with all the diner style. I would recommend it 10/10.

Premising that I’m not a big fan of Fish And Chips in general. I would say that this is the best Fish&Chips I tried so far. Prices are a little bit high to be honest, however the quality of the fish and especially of the fried and oil is good. I would recommend to someone that want the good deal and they are ok with spending a little bit more.

Had been to Poppies Fish & Chips on recommendation from the staff of my hotel as a great place for fish and chips. It is a place with a nice ambience and a lively crowd. The prices are on the higher side. Most of the staff are polite and courteous. Unfortunately I seemed to have gone on a bad day. I had to wait for 5-10 minutes before forcing myself to be noticed, and then one of the staff was indirectly impolite. Hopefully, it was only because of the large number of customers. Thankfully, other staff noticed and served me promptly. This was my first time in London, and first experience of Fish and Chips. I don't think that I will try it again.

Quickly sat, great service that was very friendly. Fish was great. I liked the cod more than the wild halibut. The cod was not as dry. The chips were not for me but I’m not a huge fan of this style. The tea pot was very cute and steeped well. Ginger beer was good. Peas were a nice addition. Portion sizes were good.

The prawns in the prawn cocktail were warm, which was weird, though they tasted nice and the sauce was very good. The scampi were not breaded, but battered, and were truly awful. To make sure, I tried one without the batter and it was just tasteless. If they just said this on the menu, about the batter I mean, I would have had something else. I left my almost all my food and no one noticed, not even when I was paying the £38 bill.

On the day of 2/3, I was going back to Taiwan in the evening, and on my way out I came here to buy my favourite fish and chips😂😂😂 All I can say is that the best way to comfort myself while travelling in the cold UK is come here and buy a fish and chips🥺🥺 My favourite is (cod) or (haddock) and then they have them all here! I've heard that it's won awards in the past and I think it's very well deserved🥰🥰 Thank you 🙏 that’s amazing

Being in London means having to try fish & chips at least once. Nice place, takes you back in time, slightly friendly staff. Very rustic service, as is the plating of the food. Overall decent food, great price.

Nice little restaurant that has lots of fish items on the menu. It is a USA 1950s like diner and music. The food was good but a tad higher than what we’ve been paying in other places for similar food and drinks.

This place reminds me of diners in the US from the 50's or 60's. As soon as you walk in, you can hear the oldies music playing and it just looks like nothing else has changed in over half a century. The Haddock was golden brown and delicious, not super greasy or overdone. The sticky toffee pudding my gf ordered was also pretty tasty. This is not a cheap option, but even the 220g size fish was enough for the two of us, along with the sticky pudding. You can get a 280g portion for only £4 more if you're really hungry. Service is quick, as they have a bunch of people working. I think it's a great option, even if it is a little gimmicky.

Best fish and chips! Highly recommend. Initially came here in 2015 and our fish and chips dinner was so tasty we had to return! We ordered calamari and a fish cake for our starter and both were great! The haddock was fried fresh and really, really good. Not greasy at all. Generous portion of freshly fried chips. We had to try the battered sausage and it didn’t disappoint. Service was quick and friendly.

Good fish & chips, very yummy sticky toffee pudding, old school deli feel. We tried their jellied eel, seafood platter, Haddock & chips. All seafood is fresh and nicely fried, with thick chunky chips. Ended the meal with a pudding each, which we enjoyed. Recommended.

We arrived at Poppie’s around 4pm on a Sunday afternoon and the kitchen was open: great. They served us the classical Haddock fish & chips. The fish was tender and fresh, crispy on the outside. The chips were just bad but had a good tartar sauce.

My party had a great time and throughly enjoyed our food. Unsure of which kind of fish to get we asked the server for her recommendation and it was amazing. I personally got the Haddock fish and chips, it was very flavorful. I also had a sticky toffee pudding which was delicious. I would definitely eat here again if I’m ever back in London!

Another nice and cosy place for Fish and Chips. Had Cod and chips, which met expectations but the price has gone up a bit. Service is prompt and excellent. Wished there’s more tartar sauce. Would return again.

Great Fish and Chips! Great atmosphere! Service was great! I ordered the large Cod with fries my wife got the haddock. I read a few reviews saying not enough tartar sauce and the servers aren't very attentive so I combatted it by ordering extra tartar and 2 drinks and had a wonderful meal. Three tartar was perfect for 2 large orders of fish and chips. We wanted to share with each other but enjoyed the meal so much we didnt end up sharing! You must order the sticky toffee putting 10/10 was perfect. I would have licked the plate clean if the restaurant wasn't so full. We had to wait for two other couples ahead of us due to the amount of turnover they have. Good food expect to have to wait. Probably why the servers can't aren't as attentive as some of the other restaurants. The price was higher forsure but still worth is. If I were to go back I'd probably just order what I knew was good fish and chips and sticky toffee putting! Mushy peas and steak pie were good but as expected nothing to write home about.

Delicious! We walked 40 minutes to come here based on the reviews and was not disappointed! We had regular cod & chips which was cooked to order - the size of fish was ample, the batter was 99% perfectly cooked, and the taste was great. The fish (haddock too) is cooked with the skin on, which my husband doesn't like but the overall taste won him over so his plate was devoured. The mushy peas are very tasty & the portion is big enough to share between 2 people (if you are an equal sharer, we managed to get a smidge over 7 spoons out of it for those that count.... just me then?😋). I asked for bits/scraps and they came in another side dish - plenty of those & would have been perfect to add to a chip butty. They have either an ale or a lager on draft - the lager was good. The ketchup is in a tomato- not had that since I was a kid! Loved the old-school touch. And to top it off, we got a couple of blackjacks & fruit salads with our bill. Perfect! Highly recommend to anyone looking for quality traditional fish and chips.

Honestly the best fish and chips we ever had! Super fresh and crispy not oily at all.. fast service and fun restaurant to eat at! Kids meals are reasonably priced and well portioned . Service was really kind and efficient! We had calamari it was ok but the fish is definitely amazing! You can’t visit London and not have fish and chips!
