When looking for a place to stay in London(our first time here), of course we wanted the best. We had only 1 night in London and wanted to make the most of it. The location of The Stafford was close to everything we wanted to see and do while here. We arrived just before noon. There was no wait, we wanted to drop our bags and explore the city before our evening dinner reservations. The lady in the front checked us in with ease. She said our room was already ready, a seemingly great start. I specifically booked a “Carriage House Deluxe King Room.” As she is walking us to our room, she says “you’re in luck, you’re getting an upgrade.” Which sounds great, but it would’ve been nice if she told us at the front desk. I was caught off guard so I didn’t say anything. She brings us to a room across from the carriage house in the main house, 1st floor. But when you get into the room, there are stairs going down so you’re almost just in a basement. The suite was spacious, more room than we honestly needed. It seemed outdated and just okay. It lacked natural light and a view. Overall was not impressed. I didn’t make a stink about it because we were eager to just explore the city anyway and not have to worry about the room. Another thing was someone walked into our room without knocking and didn’t announce themselves. It was very odd and again, I didn’t bring it up at the time. The staff seemed unapproachable, so we honestly just scratched our heads in confusion. Hindsight, I should have said something. I was already uncomfortable with our stay there so I didn’t see a point in checking out what the property had to offer. Overall, a great location, but pricey and an underwhelming experience. I would stay at the other luxury hotel only a few steps away from this one next time we’re visiting. Maybe you’ll have a better experience.

Live locally and have been twice as really like the location. Unfortunately both experiences were poor. Forgot numerous items first time, had to ask repeatedly for same thing - friend’s coffee had still not arrived even after my own drink and subsequent food had arrived 25 minutes later. Tried once more on a very warm day. 3pm lunch sitting so place was pretty much empty. Were told very bluntly by a rude Italian waiter that we had one hour only and could only sit at this particular table as entire rest of the terrace is reserved for hotel guests, including every single table in the shade or with a parasol. The sun went in for a moment as we spoke and he said ‘it’s cloudy’. We asked again for some shade, he then essentially said this is the only table you’re getting take it or leave it. So we left. Very unwelcoming, not what you expect from a 5 star hotel in st James’. I hope the manager reads this and cares when regular money walks out the door as I’d very much like to go back were the service up to scratch. Ultimately went to a hotel down the road and had a much nicer experience.

Fantastic understated hotel. The American Bar is one of the best in Mayfair, top class service. An excellent array of cocktails and a fabulous drinks and food list. The staff are so helpful and friendly and some of the best mixologists in London. 100% recommended for those of you who appreciate the finer things in life in an informal and classy manner.

We had afternoon tea here for my Mother's 80th birthday along with other family members. It was totally perfect. Very few tables so it was nice and quiet. Efficient and friendly staff. Lovely food and tea. Really delightful and perfect in every way. My Mother loved it!

They have a old wine cellar with many historical remains. It’s amazing. it’s also a venue for private hiring. And the American bar deco is lovely. Everything on the celling were donated by their customers.

Great location with easy access to Green Park. Suites are really good size with spacious sitting area in the room, our very comfortable ground floor suite opened onto the hotels common Courtyard area. Enjoyed our 5 days at the Stafford Hotel. Also, the Sunday roast in the Hotels restaurant “The Game Bird” is a must.

Was here for the afternoon tea. The service was great - they opened the doors for us, they took our jackets etc. We felt well treated. The place was also very nice - calm, classic interior with luxury details. However, don't expect any culinary experience. None of the items on the afternoon tea was good. The only thing I enjoyed was the tea. We tried the dessert, but it was then left untouched.

The most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on. It was so old it sank down in the middle and you could feel the loose springs. The maid came at 10 pm for turn down service when we were already asleep. The coffee maker did not work. The staff at breakfasere very testy with one another. The location is great and the American bar was cool but it wasn't worth the $$$$$$ price tag.

The Best hidden away location with a secret tunnel to get quickly to the Buckingham Palace. Fantastic service by concierge, front desk, and guys outside! Comfortable luxurious beds, heated bathroom floors, turndown service, proper tea in your room. We stayed 3 nights and loved it!

Stopped by the Stafford for a drink and lunch with my wife and father and law to repeat a tradition passed down from my dad who has been going to the Stafford for many years. We were really impressed by the service and staff and how well they accommodated our small sleeping baby in a stroller. Great experience, great service - highly recommend the restaurant and American Bar.

Small rooms, good food and service, nice location near underground and shopping, park. Very comfortable bed. Nice toiletries, free bottled water, newspapers, coffee, and tea in the room. Good breakfast, afternoon tea, cocktails in bar, wine cellar. Small meeting rooms and elevator.

They have the best service !!!! Everyone is SO KIND and on top of everything. Their breakfast and afternoon tea is delicious! I didn't get to have dinner there because I was always out getting to know London at that hour but I bet it is delicious too.

A wonderful stay. The room was perfect and the bed so comfortable it is could have taken it home I would. The staff were all outstanding. Stop in the American Bar and get the Espresso Martini. You will not me disappointed.

Recently stayed at this lovely hotel. Fabulous location in the heart of shops and great restaurants. Staff are very lovely and helpful. A very special mention to Pankaj at breakfast who was very attentive. On our last day we were leaving for an early flight and breakfast wasn’t opened. He went and grabbed us some delicious pastries to ensure we were feed before our flight. Overall a great little hotel. Only let down, super small bathroom.

We were guests at a private dinner. The rooms we used were stunning, with the most beautiful flower arrangements. The food was exceptional and all the staff were highly professional.
