DO NOT JOIN or visit if you plan to drive. The car park is a rubbish tip and has far too few spaces for the size of the gym - I usually have to park further down the street and walk (there is no secure bike locking area either). The actual gym floor is decent with a wide variety of machines, however I mostly go for classes. The Les Mills classes (run by external instructors) are great. The few classes I have been to run by gym staff are not as good - instructors are unfriendly and just mess around with their regulars. I tried the spa facilities for the first time today (middle of a weekday, supposedly off peak) and the showers were cold, there were clumps of hair everywhere and the sauna was full. I had to walk 10 mins in the cold to my car and have a hot shower at home. Having transferred my membership from the Cambridge club (which is excellent!) I am very disappointed. This branch is such a let down.

If there were any other gyms in the area this gym would not survive. Everything is in such a state of disrepair. I don’t pay full price (£70 a month) and I still feel short changed. It feels as if the facilities haven’t been updated since the 90’s. Everything’s falling apart and facilities are always breaking down and take weeks to repair. Lockers have broken doors, shelves and hooks. The steam room has holes in it. None of the showers work properly and the Sauna is about to collapse. The redeeming qualities are that the staff are very nice and friendly and the is a reasonable selection of gym equipment.

I was a member in this gym before and had a very bad experience at that time I wanted to cancel my membership which the only way was to email their customer support team who never replied back but put me into trouble for month to clear the situation. so I decided not to sign up again but when I moved back to the area and considered joining because they’re no other gyms around I was told by the team member that the gym is managed by a new management so the same thing would never happen again! Still I couldn’t trust them and only did a monthly rolling membership for me and my mum. These people managed to disappoint and lie again!!!! I would never ever use this gym ever again. The staffs are rude , disengaged and barely say hi to clients. They always gather around entrance table and chat. They lie to sign you up but never deliver and change their words constantly. Machines are old and outdated. The treadmill stops in middle of work out and ruins the whole exercise, the cross fit machine are mostly broken and make annoying sound (ladies area) Shower , changing area , toilets and lockers are disgusting!!! There’s no air con in this building!!! Absolutely disgusting that you don’t give a damn about upgrading to ensure the safety features and give a service that clients deserve to receive. I wonder how you survive with these high fees and providing no service! I’m guessing because you’re the only gym in the area! I would have given a minus ➖ score if I could have!

Extremely dirty premises, there are no air conditioners throughout the gym which means that it’s extremely hot, there are no windows, small studio rooms which means that the room is filled with sweat as there is no airflow, I do not understand why management will not turn on conditioners when they are clearly there. Cleaning is on a very superficial scale, Equipment are extremely outdated The entire gym is furnished with carpets which is odd , andessentially means that it is home to various viruses/ bacteria mites and bugs Women’s changing room lockers are filthy, which means that you are unable to hang clothes or any items for that matter Class instructors lack professionalism Member profile is extremely appalling — filled with 45-60 aged women who lack manners and are incredibly rude — they stare at younger women in contempt throughout the entirety of the class and will come up to argue with you for no reason. I would not recommend this gym for women under 40. The staff at the desk, despite knowing that you are a member, keep looking in suspicion throughout the check in process as you swipe your card. I do not even want to mention the pools, and I have never used them. This establishment immediately needs to renew its premises. And this gym needs to find a way of stopping 45-60 years old women from invading the gym and implicitly attacking younger women; although management is appalling.

*UPDATE* : So I rejoined the gym after I've finished my one year work placement in Essex. And I got to tell you this place still feels exactly the same from when I left this place. Despite the new faces of employees from management and familiar faces for personal trainers, I feel there is no change in management or improvements whatsoever in any area. The new employees are lovely people, that's legitimately the only good thing about this gym. Nothing has changed otherwise. The kind of service they are currently providing do not match up to the money we are paying them. I feel I've been robbed unwillingly. Below is a review I wrote 1 year ago when I first joined from June 2017 - may 2018. Not a massive improvement any way. (Posted 1 year ago ) Terrible experience. Broken equipment never gets fixed. Just more break downs day by day. Terrible customer service. Specially the women at the counter. Do not have high hopes of your request being solved. Overpriced and charges extra despite not using the gym at all. I repeat do not join this branch gym.

£70 per month for a yearly contract ....don't waste your money ...... there are attachments missing from the cable machines.... there was 1 rope attachment for triceps (I've had to go out and buy my own) .... there's not enough weight plates, there's only 1 squat rack 1 smiths machine.... it's smells in there. .. the machines are ancient or not working ..... there's generally not enough equipment to go round.... when you pay 2-3 times as other places then you expect to find it a modern place with with varied up to date equipment (eg hack squat machine etc )such as one would find in pure gym or gym group which are far superior....not happy at all

A gym which has been seriously lacking ever since Nuffield took it over 4 years ago from Virgin Active. Been a member for over 15 years. Despite endless complaints from members, Nuffield are just not bothered. Completely overpriced for the quality of service on offer; equipment over 25 years old and in disrepair. Reduced opening times, removed towels, removed certain floor classes, high manager turnover etc etc. Nuffield have not run this place well at all.

This gym is definitely not worth £70 a month.. £30 at best. Desperate need of an update as equipment is very old. It's a shame as the gym is in a great location. If it was done up and update I would rejoin and be happy to pay the £70 a month

I swear these reviews must be fake!! The gym is tired and absolutely filthy, the walls are all scuffed, there's also currently a glass barrier smashed which they've bodged back together with a mat! The floor in the weights area looks like it's never had a mop run over it and it's uneven which is really quite dangerous. All the equipment gives you electric shocks, there are never any staff tidying weights away so it takes ages to get your workout down because you're looking for plates. People leave things everywhere which is a dangerous trip hazard. I've been to budget gyms in a better condition than this. Shame they've got a captive audience here because there's no other gyms around but the place is in desperate need of a refurb but they've got no incentive to do it. Complaining to Nuffield is a waste of time because they only refer you back to the club manager

I visited the gym for a free workout day. There is only one squat rack that everybody wants to use, and the place did not seem clean. There was also a lot of segregation between gender as the women can train with the men but then have their own section to train. I notice other gyms in around London do not have this. Also, they wanted me to sign up for 69 quid per month with a discount included. The gym would only be worth a maximum of 30-40 quid per month. I have found another gym locally that is much better and more reasonably priced.

Both reception staff and manager have no idea about customer service! I call up due to poor car park signage, eventually squeeze into a very dilapidated car park to attend what I thought would be a trial of the gym as I am investigating my options moving into the area. I have been a David Lloyd member for nearly 10 years now and I fully intend on remaining one. This gym looks incredibly run down, poor car park and the cherry on top has to be the abysmal customer service. No interest in attracting new members - I turn up with my gym kit and the reception staff have no idea I have a booking. I ask if I can try the facilities before I sign up and they state no trial, only tour. Manager is contact from the reception staff’s mobile phone rather than on the internal lines. The lack of professionalism is clear right from when you walk in. Having taken out time to try out this gym, it is a thorough disappointment and I will never sign up to Nuffield health. I will take active steps to ensure all family and friends avoid this place and the franchise at all costs.

I only use the pool and there’s nothing pleasant about it. The sex segregation schedule makes it very inconvenient. Most of the time you see napkins, dirts, even sticking plaster floating in the water. During the day it’s more like a hospital pool, packed with 15 people or so, standing still and not making space for those who want to swim. The changing room smells bad when it’s packed. I wonder if I’m paying £66 a month for a gym used by physiotherapy patients. In general, filthy, very unpleasant and not welcoming at all. Once I was physically assaulted by one of the members, and I’m still waiting for the manager to get back to me about my complaint. The only good point about the gym is the staff who are nice and friendly.

I would give it a zero if i could. Half of the gym is in disrepair. The other half isn't functional. I cancelled my contract and gave notice yet they didn't cancel my contract. I kept getting letters to pay my bill and when I called the branch I was told to not worry about it and that it's cancelled. It ended up going to debt collectors and I had to spend months chasing up the management at this gym. From what I've heard this is a common occurrence. For the prices they charge you expect far more.

I went at the gym a couple of days ago to check on it as its very close to my house, even if I was very worried about the reviews that I read. I have to say that the gym is absolutely amazing and all those reviews are not true. Let me be clear that I was member of a virgin active gym, so I know what a clean and a good gym means. So in few words, I popped by and the receptionist was very welcome. I sat at the lounge area and Vanessa came 3-4 min after. I want also to mention that I went without appointment 7.15 pm! Vanessa, was very friendly and she took me for a round at the gym while she was answering all my questions. I was also, very impressed by the rest of the staff and trainers of how welcomed they were. The new manager want to improve the gym and I saw that. All the machines are working and it’s as clean as a gym can be! Don’t stress yourself out with bad reviews and pop by to check it out. It’s worth it.

This gym is a great looking for alternative exercise. There is always something missing or broken. Like 5 long bar working stations but only 4 long bars. Missing pins on the machines. Limited amount of weight. You always struggle to top up your series or do super series.. this gym needs a new manager who cares and understands the gym environment. Also, deep clean of showers and saunas would help.

I was offered a yearly contract at the minimum price of £55 as I am a student, and was told that I can freeze it whenever I want. I have used the gym for 6 months now, but now I can't go anymore because of injuries I have suffered from an accident. I want to now freeze my account, but now I'm being told that freezing my contract whenever I want is only available for the first 30 days of the contract, but now that I'm six months into it, I have to pay for the 7th month. Which is unfair and not what I was told. It just screams money hungry to me.

The changing rooms havent been cleaned in a long time. The blue tiles are black. If you walk on it with wet feet, you can see your footprints left in the dirt. Absolutely disgraceful for a ‘health club’

The place is fine, but not worth the money. There is always something wrong either the pool is closed, the sauna not working or no hot water for showers. The staff is stiff they take your money quick without explaining their cancellation policies. When I gave them notice to cancel my membership they made me pay for 2 more months of membershio. They did the same for my boyfriend, they try and hide behind guidelines and policies but in fact that's how they make their money. Easy money for them. Wouldn't recommend. You could get better value for your money.

This gym is quite tired, but I enjoy the pool and the staff have been nice so far. Have not tried classes yet but the timetable looks good. Upgrades to the gym equipment, overall decor and the car park (this is very dirty, as another reviewer has put, it is like a rubbish tip) would add a star or two.

Took money from my account after cancelling on a rolling month contract, manager acknowledged the mistake after I phoned up. Apparently actioned my refund two weeks ago, every time I phone up, I am told the accounts department have authorised it…it will be with you in a few days. After an email to customer service, I have received a reply from the management that the money should be in my account by the end of the week, if not call them again. Absolutely poor customer service and will not be recommending this place to anyone.

Booked in for a welcome tour today to be shown the gym. I emailed the day before to say I would be an hour late. Then told the person I’m suppose to meet isn’t actually working that day but colleague is. I get there the colleague isn’t working. I’m put in the office to the left of reception. After sometime a lady comes and asks what I’m there for. She then takes me upstairs and says here is our gym. I ask about classes, she has no clue. The gym looked run down and dirty. Thanks for making the decision to not join really easy. Appreciate it! Walked into the uni gym and signed up straightaway it was so clean!

The gym so dirty. They don’t care well for cleaning. If you can focus on somewhere you can see easily dirty spaces. The part of the shower are so dirty as well I took video and after around 10min I went to there again and I saw they didn’t clean it i can upload the videos for you. And the another problem is most of the time spa is close, half of the month it was close . Again today was close 🤦‍♀️

Good gym with a ladies area. Facilities include a decent pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna. Usually kept very clean and regularly cleaned. My one gripe would be when the pool is busy - more than 7 or 8 people in there and it becomes a free-for-all.

This is the most pourley managed Nuffield gym that I have been to. Not worth the money. At first sight, very spacious, however outdated equipment and facilities. Within a year time I got across multiple occasions, when there was no hot water in ladies showers and few times no water at all, no notification been given on the entrance regarding the issue. Sometimes there are no access to jacuzzi for weeks and then on and off again. Steam room, showers and WC could use extra cleaning, however I suspect that could be due to not enough stuff. Some rooms are missing any type of ventilation and during intensive classes or exercises, it is very unpleasant smell. Some lockers have dump inside them. They will ask you to pay extra for spare towel. I have had so much better experience in lower budget gym's. The only good point, they have a good choice and time schedules for classes.

One of the worst gyms you can join. Out dated equipment but still useable and in good condition. Steam room is usually out of order, when it’s not out of order its left dirty by people. Some very unsanitary ladies go to this gym. I’ve seen dirty pads left on the bench and floor. Certain people stealing your towel whilst you’re showering! People doing scrubs and masks even thought there is sign clearly telling people that is not permitted in the sauna or steam room! And even though you raise these points with reception they don’t do anything about it. Parking is also limited as members of staff take most spaces. Don’t waste your money on joining this place. Major improvements are needed.

Worst customer service! I was not in the country when they open in April, and I asked them for a refund for the months I was not in London, but the manager Jasmin told they won't refund anything. Also, I tried to book a swimming class but it is always closed. So, I pay the money and cannot even use their swimming pool. And they don't give a f**k about any situations that happens during the Covid pandemic.

I had the pleasure of visiting Nuffield Gym in Hendon today for my 7-day free trial, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, Abdullah and Tanishq at the front desk greeted me with warmth and professionalism. Their friendly demeanor made me feel right at home. The entire experience at this gym was outstanding. The facilities are top-notch, and the staff's commitment to customer service is truly commendable. Abdullah and Tanishq went out of their way to ensure I had a great start to my trial, answering all my questions and providing assistance whenever needed. If you're looking for a gym with a welcoming atmosphere, exceptional customer service, and fantastic facilities, I highly recommend Nuffield Gym in Hendon. My visit was fantastic, and I can't wait to continue my fitness journey here.

Mouldy and dirty More common to find a locker filled with used tampons, sanitary pads or dirty sneakers then a clean one. I don’t believe actually that i’ve ever seen a clean one. If it’s not terribly dirty then there’s hairs/tissues/dust etc. The showers are also something special. You don’t get bored showering. No matter the shower’s location, 80% of the time you get flooded by the neighbour’s dirty water and hairs. I usually move very close to the furthers corner to finish my shower so i don’t get into too much contact with the dirty water. Apart from that, wait till the cleaning lady sprays you with the pipe with freezing water on your feet while showering. They like to clean the showers also when people are inside and only with cold water. It’s almost funny when it happens. After the initial shock dissipates, of course.. The list can carry on but i’ll only mention one more. The MOULD. The yoga studio’s walls have very wide areas with mould! Visible from any angle and distance. That’s a hazard. I don’t even know how they are allowed to function like that. I choose to leave the club and loose one month’s fee.

I'm just going to be brutally honest.. The gym is definitely not worth the money equipment is well out of date. I was a pt there in 2010 and the equipment is still the same and hasn't changed. When it was virgin active the gym was also more clean and had bands to use to workout with and stretch witch they don't have now. Steamer is always broken or doesn't work properly still haven't updated. The gym is in big time need of a refurbishment. The only thing that has changed since I worked there is the price and the quality is nowhere near as good . They have even took away the cafe where they cooked heathy food after your workout. It was £56 months when it was virgin active. now they have the cheak to charge £70. I would say the gym is worth about £40 at best. If it wasn't for it being so closed to my house and other gyms being to far away I would never join it. I would love if they opened a gymbox in Hendon I'll be gone in a instant.

I join the gym on October last year, I was told from manager TRAVIS SCOTT that by suggesting a new member to join the gym I get a month free, I did that and I was never qualified for that month free, try to chat to the same name mention above, he will deny everything about free month and with a very bad attitude asked me to walk in or he would cancel my membership, I've never aproche a rude called manager in my entire life, I'm very disappointed of that guy, if anyone checks this feedbacks should immediately sever notice to TRAVIS SCOTT. We were 3 of us today cancelled the memberships of him.

This gym is so dirty and old. Feels like I’m stepping into the 90s as the equipment is so worn out. Dust everywhere, old carpets and matts. Fitness industry has elevated so much in recent years, for the price of this gym you would presume better quality for a nuffield health in Hendon area. Avoid avoid avoid-unless you want to waste your money and catch an illness!

Not recommended, to know the reasons go and visit it yourself and you’ll notice so many broken machines, hair dryer etc…The membership worth £25 not a single penny more, and although other gyms develop their equipment, they develop problems! The newest problem is the holes under the matts, and they are everywhere now. Thinking to cancel my contract after almost a year of waiting to see if things are going to improve or not!

My stars and thank you for teachers and cleaning team. I do love taking classes at this club. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for management at Hendon and customer service team at HQ too because of their lack of response and care of members. Also the missed class emails sent in error to members is an ongoing fault in the system which they do not seem to be able to fix. It is annoying considering that after three strikes it is not possible to book classes for a while.

I was apprehensive to change gyms from virgin but the manager at then Hendon branch Ali was very attentive and took me though the process effortlessly to the point I ended up joining up there and then. He an absolute credit to the company .The place is always clean and tidy and the staff are really friendly and welcoming that they quickly become your extended family. I absolutely LOVE the variety of different classes ranging from the yoga to the spin classes. The pool is big and clean and the women's area is the biggest one I've seen as generally they are small and have limiting equipment which can be frustrating but not with nuffield health and fitness.A very special experience indeed and now all my friends come here also. I never leave reviews but this is certainly warranted!!!!!!!! Health is wealth people. Invest in the right space to train.

Great customer service, especially from always helpful Ali- Senior sales manager. Also ladies from reception are very, very nice. I love swimming pool more then gym, but this is my personal preference. Very convinient location.

Went to check out the gym with the "Free" day pass me and my friends applied for online because we were looking to leave the gym we are currently at. We spoke to the receptionist, who greeted us kindly and done everything but once going to the back to scan our IDs but she was told by her manager we had to pay £15 for the day pass and it'll be deducted from our first month fee for joining the gym. Why advertise it to be a free day pass and used our IDs for verification just to be told, we need to pay because of a "new policy". Waste of time...

Parking - but it's a bit limited, good central location, near Hendon Central tube and buses, clean, well equipped and light is bright. Friendly staff.

I like the gym as it is private for women and men. Also I like the changing rooms, sauna and spa. However, sometimes the club is closed all day or closes earlier than normal without notification. I also heard the swimming pool water was not changed after, sadly someone died in it recently.

From Rude staff at the reception to extremely dirty place and the equipments need changing and extremely rude operation manager by the name of Ricardo who doesn’t know anything about operating the place also there are live black worms on the floor of the steam room which is the health and safety issue so I’m not exactly sure why they are not shut down so far.Life guard is not on site so anything can happen to the kids on family time or any other time So avoid this gym at all cost before your health is jeopardised absolutely filthy place and rude people avoid please….it’s a 0*star for me.
