I visited here on February. This is a large open space surrounded by woodland. It has a cafe and views at the top of the hill.

Great woods, lovely place to walk around, and enjoy the fascinating little parakeets🦜 singing. First time in my life when I see them free in woods. The cafe is the best cafe we ever find around woods or nature parks, great food and lovely staff ♥️ Amazing day out ♥️

It’s no wonder this is known as “London’s best kept secret”. Beautiful green spaces with far reaching views from the hill, and acres of ancient woodland around with great walkways. Car park is free but gets very busy. Nice cafe on site.

Lovely park, with variety of areas - some woods and overgrown trails, some meadow space, surrounded by old woods with bluebells in the spring.

I couldn't expect to find a wood just by the city like that and the massive meadow on the hill has a cafe with toilets and a car park behind. The café sells also a nice iced coffee!

Ive walked with my dog (now passed away) for 15 years in Oxleas meadows and she always had a fun time meeting other dogs and their owers and doing doggy things. The cafe is a nice place to stop and get a tea/coffee while your dog runs around playing with other dogs. As the cafe is at the top of the quite steep hill (locally known as heart attack hill 😁) you can see for many miles across south London. During the summer months the carpark and toilet areas seems to be a meeting place in the late evenings for men looking for other like minded men to do whatever they do in the surrounding woods. They dont seem to bother people walking about with or without their dogs. Perhaps there is a secret sign of password for them to recognise each other ?

We visited this place regularly as the walking paths are well marked and easy to find parking on the side of the road. However, it can get quite muddy in autumn and winter.

My pooches love it. Generally the dog walkers are sensible.

Oxleas Meadows is a green oasis in Eltham, offering a peaceful retreat. The well-maintained meadows provide a serene setting for walks and picnics. Its thoughtful design strikes a balance between nature and urban life, making it a pleasant escape from the city buzz. A hidden gem for those seeking tranquility in Eltham.
