Great bookstore for travel books, guides and other travel accessories. There’s a cute cafe and plenty of tables available for outdoor seating great in times like that when you want to be outdoors but also grab a coffee/tea and sit in a cafe.

Wonderful book store specialises in maps and globes, and books about discovery and journeys. There is kid’s section and plenty of interesting little gifts to be found. A café with seating inside and out. Quite and off the beaten path.

If you’re looking for a map, you’ll find it at Stanfords. 🗺️ But you’ll find many other things too. This book shop has a variety of maps and travel guides 🧳 for all parts of the world (mostly on the lower floor). It even has some travel supplies like fold away raincoats, travel mugs, locks for bags and the like. The ground floor holds what feels like an endless amount of cute, unique gifts (books, notebooks, stationery, board games, themed plasters, playing cards, wooden postcards and more). There’s a cafe ☕️ inside too, with seating both indoors and outdoors. It’s a lovely store to sit down and do some reading/ work or explore the aisles of products you’ll find yourself thinking, “I didn’t even know I needed that.” The staff are friendly if you ask for assistance but will leave you to wondering around by yourself too. ✅

Loved this bookshop. Lovely location and loved the feel and theme of the shop. I love all book shops but many of them can be very similar in look and feel but this one is unique. It made my traveler's soul so happy. :)

One of my favourite bookshops in London. It has a solid selection of popular fiction and non-fiction releases, but it really shines as a travel book shop. Their map selection is also very impressive. I couldn’t help but stock up on flags ahead of Eurovision…

Great independent book shop just off seven dials. Specialises in maps, travel, and geography related books. If you're looking for travel books, you will definitely find it here. Nearly the whole bottom floor is dedicated to them, along with maps. Picked up two great political geography books and a couple of potential next holiday spots. There is a lovely little cafe on site, too.

One of my favourite bookshops in London. Stanfords specialises in (but is not limited to) travel books. There is a small cafe on the ground floor. With walking distance from Covent Garden and Leicester Square stations.

Lovely specialist map shop with a small coffee shop too. Lots of various maps and guide books with some excellent gift ideas for both young and old. Currently no lift downstairs so not suitable for wheelchair users. Only just opened in the new location but already busy and welcoming.

This is a gem of a place and is brilliant, simply brilliant. If you like maps then you could spend a whole day here. This is only a 5 minute walk from Covent Garden and the two worlds could t be further apart in terms of how busy nd noisy. This is an awesome place.

Quirky travel focused bookshop with a pleasant cafe. Like other bookshops of this size, it doesn't always have what you want in stock.

Still London's best travel bookshop. Everything you need and so much you never knew you wanted.

If you like traveling, this is a great spot to find ideas. Shame they had to move to a smaller building, but it hasn't lost its charm. The cafe is also a nice touch.

This is a magical bookstore if you like maps or travelling. I enjoyed how the books are organized by country/region. Strong emphasis on Western Europe, understandably.

Treasure trove of travel related books, maps, globes, gifts and inspiration. You can lose yourself for hours browsing or run in for that hard to find esoteric detailed map. Nothing is too much trouble for the very knowledgeable staff. Wonderful shop even in its new location.

Like the best museum gift shop you have ever been to. Upstairs is a stationary style shop with books, journals, toys, postcards, tote bags, sporks, calendars etc. Downstairs is any map or travel guide you could possibly need. I could spend hours here and it’s definitely a must if you’re looking for a London keepsake. I want to fill my house with things from Stanfords. Lots of products you would find on study inspiration instagram pages.

Cute bookstore with a quiet cafe and terrace. Come here if you want to get a break from that hustle and bustle in Soho

As always an amazing store!! Always have the maps and guides I need ( and I go to some random places in my job setting up healthcare facilities in the developing world). The staff are so helpful and have superb knowledge. Cafe is nice as well!

I used to love the old Stanford's, but the new smaller version is good too. Great for the regular travel guides, but perfect for that something a bit different and a map, if you're still partial to a bit of paper.

Great selection of travel fiction books, guide books and maps for world, continent, region, country and was specific small areas usually UK or European countries. Other extras thrown in like a cafe and travel related paraphernalia.

A great shop for all things travel related. Books, globes, cards etc. A good place to find unusual gifts and a small coffee shop on site also. Maps are located downstairs along with some interesting antique artifacts.

Stumbled upon this place and it was love! Wonderful book store, full of fun and useful travel gear and books, a perfect cozy place. Has a lovely cafe inside and I found myself sitting there reading my book, drinking coffee and having just a splendid time.

Wonderful place - this is why we need physical spaces to wander and buy books and maps. The people make it too, talking about their own travel experiences.

Truly impressive selection of books but despite moving to a new-build location there is no lift, rendering the non-London-touristy and non-kids’ books (ie the stuff you’d come to Stanfords for) inaccessible to those with mobility problems and prams. It’s a long way down. You can ask staff to bring you stuff up, but that’s hardly the experience you want from a shop where serendipitous discovery and exploration are part of the joy. Management did find space for a cafe to extract maximum money though. If I were in the area again I’d go to a Waterstones as their travel section is reasonable and it has a lift.

This place was really cool. Got coffee and dessert here. They had some cool stuff too and the staff was really friendly. She was so nice. Very attentive and genuinely looked happy to have us there.

A wonderful place to visit. Although the current shop doesn't have quite the same atmosphere or sense of history as it did in its former location in Long Acre, it has an unrivalled selection of maps and guide books covering the entire globe.
