Just such a nice place to come and chill out/ have a drink on your own/ enjoy the atmosphere. Drinks are reasonably priced with a good selection of drinks and as a member the £5 coffee & cake deal is pretty good.

Just been to see The Marvel film 'Black Widow' and have to say a great cinema to see it at. Firstly, right by Brixton overground and underground stations. If you are planning to drive there is a chance to park in most places in and around the area as it is free also after 18:30. As you come into the cinema there is plenty of space, and lots of refreshments to choose from. The building itself considering the age has been kept well. Theres also seating areas for people to chill and have a drink prior to going in. Would advise to book online via the picturehouse website for best prices. We give it a solid A***** and will be popping by again soon. LDT x

Cool cinema, with great snacks and a restaurant upstairs! It's a little bit annoying that you can't access the seats from both ends. The seats are comfortable but the front rows are a little bit too low and you have to strain your neck for the screen. The atmosphere, the sound system and the screen are all good and they have very cheap tickets are certain days so be on the lookout.

I really wanted to like this Cinema as it is such a landmark building. I sat in screen 1 and despite the beautiful vaulted ceiling it was not a pleasant experience. First of all it smelled bad, a mixture of mould and alcohol spilled on the floor. The seats are art deco, I get that, but you are elbow to elbow with others. Lastly the biggest fail is the screen and the audio system. Poor quality screen and audio that feels like nails on a chalkboard.

This place is a godsend. They show movies that are not generally out for everyone or everyone's taste; however, the service of the people that work and come here, and the general feel of the place, has a perfect vibe. It's something I really can't explain. It's more something you can feel. Come and find out.

The Ritzy cinema has been a part of our community since forever. More importantly the building has seen many changes to the culture, and businesses that come and go. It was remarkable to see a Ritzy customer, who became unwell, being treated with the utmost care and attention. Thank you to Manager Sean, with Thomasin and Margot for letting your community know that caring is unchanging. It is amazing how staff members can be the complete opposite to their general manager. A man who is obnoxious and highly unpleasant towards his staff in front of customers.

Prettty great cinema, never have any issues ever when I go here. Perhaps only complaint would be that they sometimes do drink deals depending on the movie your seeing and you can’t sub the drink with something else and still Get the deal. Nit picky but nothing to cry about sure. If you wanna see a film you actually care about I would go to this cinema if your south London based

Would not recommend. Has the charm of being local, but the screens are small, chairs uncomfortable. And the popcorn comes out of a big industrial bag and it's 7 quid for a large (not made fresh - Tesco's is fresher). You don't get the cinema experience here best go elsewhere.

Always good quality films at the Ritzy, often mid morning option which works for us. Calm space to see the movie with a coffee or drink then lunch in Brixton, what's not to like when you can? Brilliant easy elegant venue, fantastic location.

Part of the Pictureshouse Group. Love the Ritzy because it's situated on part of Windrush Square Brixton. It's next to the Library in Brixton & close to the Black Cultural Archives. The Cinema shows many Independent films, and this is one of the reasons I like it, and its located in one of most vibrant part of South London. This video shows an activity going on, Windrush Square by the Ritzy, on the day of by visit, to mark Windrush Anniversary.

The top floor area is not that big. The bar is on the floor below were you can have a bite to eat. Ritzy upstairs area always holds difference events from time to time. Motown night very good this week. Worth going. There a Cinema and a cafe.

Lovely cinema and great cafe. Vegetarian menu with varied choices - I'm not a vegetarian but found lots of great choices. Definitely will be back - so much more pleasant than the big multi screen cinemas! 😀

Went to a q+a screening of Anatomy of a Fall here. Screen 1 is so grand and beautiful! Chairs are comfortable, space is big. The lobby is gorgeous too. Honestly the whole building is stunning and worth at least one visit. Only complaint is that the walls are so SO thin. During the film screening I could hear cars honking and beeping and ambulance sirens from the main road. Honestly it took me a minute to realise that the noise wasn’t coming from the movie lol but when i didn’t i couldn’t stop hearing it. It’s actually shocking how loud the sound were. Not sure why the main screen hasn’t been sound proofed, can only speculate that it may be because it’s a grade II listed building. Not really that big of a deal though if you’re not an audiophile and also if you’re going to watch a loud marvel type blockbuster haha.

The staff are always so helpful AND efficient. They know about the films and offer intelligent feedback. The Café sells delicious food and the best coffee! All this joy under one roof. Thank you Ritzy.

Dimmed luminosity and technical issue with projector on Screen 2, almost like watching something at minimum brightness level on your Apple Mac, just really disappointing as it spoiled the viewing experience and ‘The Zone of Interest’ (2024) isn’t something you can just rewatch given the heavy subject of this film. Picturehouse refunded my booking, the agent stated the Ritzy has now fixed the projector fault, however thats beside the point, the cinema should have at least provided a voucher as a token of apology in this respect.

Lovely cosy place to work. but the staff. So many staff, so little service. Was given the slowest coke, on a quiet midday, no ice, no interest from staff.

Decent seats, food and drinks offering. Screen 3 watching dune part 2 unfortunately one of the speakers was buzzing/broken, really detracting from the experience.

Went to the Reggaeoke event held Saturday night, although this is the last night at the Ritzy. What a good night, a good laugh, some very entertaining people singing or trying to sing. Then after, floor open for a good old dance till 1am. Everyone happy and friendly. Just a good evening out. Sorry I had not been before. Jay9 is the lady that created this and it has apparently been going since 2014 at the Ritzy. She is the host and compere, funny and entertaining. Now moving to Blues Kitchen, bigger venue.

Watched the new Black Panther movie which was great. The cinema was surprisingly empty though but this meant I could sit where I wanted and no noise either. I never noticed until today, how gorgeous the interior is!

Lovely little place close to the station. We went for a night of live music and really enjoyed our time. The upstairs bar is pretty with a nice view of Brixton. Next time we might try the cinema!

Came for a full cinema and dining experience. Says on the website that the kitchen is open. We were there at 6pm for dinner pre-show and the bartender rudely said the kitchen is closed. When we asked why they just said the chef is on holiday. No notice or anything. And they don't allow us to bring our own food in, so we just starve during the movie. Bad experience. But the cinema is overall good.

Enjoyed the food in cafe, good bar. Only thing I would suggest is making sure whole venue is accessible and more seating available. Overall enjoyed my experience.

Saw Barrel Children here which was an excellent film. There was a very helpful gentleman who assisted me although, no one came to scan my ticket and there was no attendant at Screen 5 where the film was showing, to address this. The cinema seats were nevertheless comfortable.

I don't think the Ritzy is getting better as a cinema, the day I went there was only one hand wash basin in working order, the cinema halls were smelly and the people at the food counter were not very interested in serving me. There was a fridge broken also, so goodness knows what wasn't available. It seems they have other things going on like musical shows and the coffee shop, but I only go there because occasionally they have a film nobody else has, but I really have to convince myself the trip is worth it.

As a local we love it here. Screens are clean and have comfy squishy seats. Good selection of snacks and drinks and they have a bar area too! Feels like a proper old fashioned cinema :)

Been here a few times for a drink and it's a cosy venue, I'm gonna rate the Brixton Ale as the best on tap, not happy about non membership prices as it don't make sense. But nice place for social chat

Well this is an OK place as a cinema, has a nostalgic feeling of a church hall with a massive sheet strung across the room....the seats are better but not by much. They have a bar and kitchen which works in theory but when 2 tickets, 2 beers and two over hot greasy burgers come to £80.00 it's not a theory I subscribe to. Or maybe I'm just skint ?

Took myself to a boxing day movie and had a really lovely time. The man who served me and I had a nice chat about the movie I was about to see, the popcorn was fresh and the seats were comfy. What's not to like!

Took the children to see a film today. Didn't realise there were booster seats as it wasn't quite clear. But thankfully for another customer who had went looking for one for her child, offered to get one for mine as I also had the baby with me. Venue was clean and tidy. Wasn't busy but just right. Location is great. Will visit again.

Love this cinema. It’s a little pricey but feels like a more special experience than a normal cinema chain. Had a great espresso martini at the bar before seeing the film (Liquorice Pizza). Toilets: Plenty available, female and male separation.

This place is very nice. I enjoyed my mom-daughter time there. Good for have a family weekend or with friends. The place is very clean. They have some candies, sweet and salt treats and the traditional pop corn as well as drinks. Totally recommend.

Saw Dune on screen 3 - horrible, horrible experience. The speaker was blown out, causing unpleasant noises, and completely taking me out of the film. The film also started 40 mins late as they were having technical problems. So we could hear the film in the beginning, but see nothing. In terms of comfort and cleanliness, there are no cup holders, and there was period blood on the faucet in the girls bathroom. Overall, a huge letdown.

We used the upstairs bar at the Ritzy for a Birthday/belated wedding party and would highly recommend it! Gemma, in particular was really helpful in arranging our booking, very attentive and responsive to both our questions over email and during our visits to the venue. Gemma was always able to accommodate our visits and acted quickly in making arrangements for the day. On the night, Charlie and the bar team were the perfect hosts - very friendly and responsive, working quickly to keep the night on track and our guests topped up. Thank you!!
