I wanted to visit this place 10 years ago when it was smaller. It wasn't busy today around 3pm so I would recommend this time. The presentation of food is excellent, the service was fast but I had my concerns about the hygiene level. I some one of the staff filling a salad plate using his own bare hands which is not acceptable in my view. Hope this restaurant will take this critique seriously as their dishes are very good. On the positive side, the portions are generous and the staff are very friendly. I recommend the Mango Drink.

Nice Punjabi Indian restaurant in Whitechapel. Service is very good and food delicious. Even though there were 15 of us food came out all together. The lamb chops were delicious. Definitely hope to visit again. The only negative was how busy it was when we visited but also shows there are so many people that also love the restaurant

Nice restaurant for Pakistani/Indian food, both veg and nveg. Nice way to start with complimentary chutneys, salad and poppadoms. Service was quick and portion size was okay. Food no doubt is one of the good ones in London, very close to perfect but still not perfect. They can improve more on the meat dishes, I guess using better marination coz curry was good but the meat itself lacked that perfect taste.

We were out for my mother-in-law's birthday and ordered whole variety of the menu. The papadoms were ok wasn't great. Lamb chops tasted great but I did find a lamb chop that was not cooked throughly and was pink. 🤢 Otherwise food was okey and service is good. The seating feels a little cramped.

This is my third visit and it's always busy with a bit of mayhem especially on the weekends, but something you need to expect. We came for dinner on Saturday night and between the 6 of us, we shared the dry lamb chops (classic and a must), karahi gosht, karahi chicken, daal with aubergine and saag paneer (all decent). It's BYO which is handy too. The service is quick but less personable.

Food was served super fast I guess they are well prepared serving busy crowds. Food tasted nice and was full of flavour. I heard lots of good things about this restaurant and finally had the opportunity to try out. I turned away twice in the past after noticing a long queue outside. Overall, mixed grilled and lamb korai was amazing with keema Nan.

Food is delicious and so affordable! You get soo much food for the price. My favorite was the dry meat dish. It’s super busy in there so don’t be intimidated! You can go in and wait in the queue if you don’t have a reservation. We only waited about 10 minutes until we got a table. Definitely worth it.

After a considerable hiatus, my taste buds were thoroughly delighted by the delectable cuisine at Tayyabs restaurant. This establishment transported me to the heart of India with its authentic flavors. With its four-tiered seating setup, the restaurant boasts ample tables; nevertheless, a queue of eager diners eagerly awaits an available space. Hence, I strongly recommend making an online reservation if you plan to visit. The staff exhibits remarkable professionalism, efficiently tending to their duties. Furthermore, the food is reasonably priced, in perfect alignment with the exceptional taste and generous portion sizes.

this was a amazing find when I was just browsing the neighbourhood for dine-ins. Easily one of the best Indian restaurant with decent ambience too without burning your pockets. The tandoori chicken was incredible. They serve in sizzler plates which makes the starters look more appealing. Surely would return with family and friends

This spot has become part of an annual ritual for myself and my work colleagues. We go every Christmas for our team dinner because the food is always brilliant. Everybody raves about the lamb chops and dry meats (always get the dry meats). Beyond these dishes, everything we get always tastes good. Beyond the food, the other massive draw is the BYOB (Bring your own bottle), where you're able to bring your work variety of alcohol, from wine and beer, through to spirits. They often have a cork screw there, but for the ultra organised, bring your own, to save on waiting. My only criticisms is that on the weekends, it can be overly chaotic with patrons, due to it's popularity. Also, the staff can be a little pushy at the end of the meal, as they want to turn the table over quickly (mainly on weekends when it's super busy). Apart from that, would highly recommend 🙏🏿

First time at Tayyabs. I had heard a lot about it over the years and finally had the opportunity to go. All I can say was that it was an experience! We had a booking for 6 people at 8pm on a Friday night and managed to be seated at the table at around 8.25 pm. The place was utter mayhem. Hordes of walk ins, bookings, all crammed inside and outside, one manic restaurant manager running around trying to organise people’s tables. I was there with my elderly mother and aunt, who both use walking sticks. When I asked if our table was ready on arrival, the manager had asked why I had not mentioned that I required special assistance, as they had booked our table upstairs. As I had never been to Tayyabs before and it was not mentioned if I required seating downstairs, on the website, I did not even realise this was something I needed to do. Anyway, the restaurant asked us to wait whilst they organised a table downstairs. When I finally found the manager after 15mins, amongst the crowds of customers waiting to be served and enquired about my table, I got told that the table was being prepared and that if I asked again, he would cancel my booking!! I was ready to leave at that point but realising it would be difficult to find somewhere else with two elderly people with walking difficulties, decided to stay. Once we were seated at the table, the food came very fast. We had their famous lamb chops which tbh, were quite tough but ok flavour wise. We enjoyed the paneer tikka and the grilled king prawn starter. The elders liked the Friday special Lamb biriyani. But I would not recommend the masala fish which had a very odd sweet and soapy taste and the mango lassi which was just a jug full of foam. Overall the food was ok in an old school curry house kind of way and the service improved later as we had a dedicated waiter who looked after us. Other than that, it wasn’t cheap, £165 for 6people and no alcohol. Would I go again? Not sure I would.

Went here for lunch today. Booked in advance because I read reviews about the queues. However it was basically empty when I got there and when I told him I had a reservation he didn’t even take my name! The service was ok - they are attentive but look like they couldn’t be bothered. The food was great big portions. We ordered the tarka dhal, kahari fish, seekh kebabs and samosas. Skip the samosas. Order their grills and try the fish curry that was really excellent.

This is our first time visiting the restaurant after 2 years and the craze is still the same. We went for dinner and it was really busy and everyone was queueing up to get seated. Well, after a 15-20mins wait, we managed to get our table. Seating is across three floors so you will definitely get your place. Now, coming to food, we got papadums and chutneys as soon we sat down. For starters, we tried their signature Lamb Chops, Tandoori Chicken and Grilled Fish. Each one of them were of high quality and delicately prepared. The expectations went high and for the Mains, we had Kadhai Lamb, Kadhai Chicken and Chana Masala. All of them impressed us. The Tandoori Naans were soft, fluffy and tasty. Overall, very highly recommended however do go in with some time in hand. We'll located in walking distance to Whitechapel and Aldgate East tube stations.

One of my all time favourite restaurants. I have been coming here for years and the food is always cooked to a high standard. The food on this occasions was 10/10. The Chana Chicken was delicious. The peshwari naan was scrumptious. Highly recommended. The only negative was that the popadoms were stale.

Food was great and for the price you pay really decent in these times. It's BYOB which in essence can be a good thing and also a bad thing at the same time. Don't bother booking as they don't really honour the booking time, if you're lucky, just grab the staff member with a list and they'll fit you in wherever. I was disappointed with the service, a manager/supervisor approached our group to move tables (after we already sat, started enjoying the starters and drinks) just because a large group was coming in... Just shows again the organisation could do with some improvement especially after we got a table 45 mins after our original booking time. At the end, one of the waiters even asked for a cash tip... Need I say more?

One of the best curries in London!! First time I’ve been to Tayabs and we thought that everything was delicious in particular the lamb curry. It’s a busy, successful and somewhat chaotic place but we had good service, I’m not sure what all the moaners expect, we spent £22 per person, for this kind of price point and with the reputation it has it’s gonna be busy. Love it that this kind of place is thriving. We will definitely return next time we are in London.

It’s great that you can bring in alcohol to the restaurant without it being a problem ! We got the mixed grill and the dry okra curry ! The curry was very authentic with flavours I never tried before ! Everything had a good kick to it and the naan bread was the best I’ve had ! The mixed grill was also good my favourites were the chicken tikka, seeshk kebab and lamb chops ! The mutton was very very chewy not something I would recommend.

Always a good place. Especially if you have a larger group (booking essential). Service is fast even when it is busy. Food is fantastic - lamb chops, kebab and dry curry were all very tasty. Also plenty of good vegetarian options. Great value for money. Mango lassi always a nice treat.

Food: we ordered starters and mains and were completely amazed. I would def recommend the daily specials. Meat was absolutely tender and I really don’t know why this place as low ratings. Location: good location close to the Whitechapel train station. Atmosphere: very crowds and Lowry. We were here on a Friday night. But you can bring your own drinks. Price: normal london prices - but rather affordable. Service: we directly got our table. (We were 5). Service was good but hectic and I could imagine that working here is quite stressful.

Had a great experience and definitely one of the best Pakistani food we have tried here. Some of the items are a bit over priced like desserts, Lassi and Naan. Nevertheless great place to try Pakistani food. On the afternoon we didn't see much crowd but heard at night there could be long lines. The best items were the BBQ chicken Tikka and lamb chops.

First time trying Pakistani food , quite interesting . Good portion of food . Food comes quite quickly , would be good if staff could ask before removing the plates ( I haven’t finished the salad yet ) . Queue formed already on a Wednesday at 7:00 pm .

Cheap and delicious Punjabi food. So good I only have pictures of dishes in a half-eaten state. The rest were gone before the camera came out. But you can see them in their full glory from other reviews. Quite empty when we arrived but it was completely packed by 730pm on a Saturday night. VERY noisy place so definitely not suitable for a peaceful and quiet meal. Food ordering required some level of shouting with the waiter unintentionally due to the noise level. The food menu could do with some spice level indicators so I could easily order a mixture of spicy and non-spicy dishes. Customer service was okay but don’t expect fancy royal treatment. Food took a while to arrive but you can chew on papadoms while waiting (they are not free by the way). They also served us the wrong food and we ate it accidentally but they did not charge us for it.

Food was ok but not as good as the hype. Their signature lamb chops were a bit hit and miss with many in the group; I liked it. Many in our group didn’t finish. Service was efficient and fast reflecting the fast turnaround needed to accommodate the huge queue of people waiting but lacking any personal touch. We were asked to leave as soon as we finished the mains and before some had finished their desert. Very busy atmosphere but couldn’t hear any conversations as too loud.

Been going here for like 20 years. The best place for Pakistani/Indian food. Gets really busy so definitely call up and book in advance. For those that drink it's bring your own alcohol. The food is amazing. Definitely get the Mango Lassi.

Went for dinner on New Year’s Eve. They tried to sit us with another table, this was uncomfortable. The bonus is you can bring your own alcohol into the restaurant. Slightly disappointed with the food, it was very salty and average. Staff were friendly and helpful. If your looking for that special meal I wouldn’t recommend having dinner here, there are better Indian restaurants in the heart of London.

The best curry house in London. The tandoori lamb chops are legendary and they taste as good as they always have. The dry meat curry and the chicken keema are our favourite curries at Tayyabs. Forget Brick lane, Tayyabs is THE place for Indian food in London.

Points for delicious food and great prices - my guess is that it’s these 2 factors that keep people coming back! This was my 3rd time being here and each time the different main dishes have not failed to impress - the fish curry, chicken saab are lovely. However, the service here is awful & rude, but I can only imagine how stressful it is working at such a busy, cramped restaurant. Expect to be seated in a noisy, smokey area - right on top of the neighbouring table 😅 Guess it’s all part of the experience though.

We had made a booking for 10 people, staff were very helpful and we didn't have to wait long to be seated. The service was quick and the food is amazing and halal. I would recommend the Lamb Chops, a great restaurant with flavourful food!

It was very busy, but the quality of the food was amazing. It's definitely my new favourite restaurant in London. Highly recommend coming and eating here. It is bring your own booze, though, as they don't hold a license. The shop next door does good prices on BWS as part of a deal with the restaurant.

Great Indian restaurant for some delicious sheesh kebab and lamb chops. Poppadom with lots of salads and the sauce were amazing! Great to start the meal. The dishes were also served pretty quickly. The meat was served on a sizzling plate. Absolutely delicious and worth coming!

This is a great place to go to if you want the option of BYOB in east London. The food was tasty (we had the vegetarian samosas, the lamb chops which were delicious, and a few different curries). The curries were a bit oily and not as packed with flavour as expected, but still good - and very affordable! One downside is we made a booking for 7:45 but only got a table 40 minutes later, as the front of house is a bit disorganized.

Got a chicken and a meat dish. The chicken was nice, the meat one was a bit tough, after it had cooled a bit I had to give up. The kebabs were nice. It's a shame coz tayyabs was the standard back in the day now it's hit/miss.I would have given it 2 but the service and seating bumped it up.

Hugely busy fun restaurant. Not the place for a quiet meal out 😁 Food was lovely, was served very quickly and you take your own drink. Don't miss out on this place, we'll definitely be returning.

I had an incredible dining experience at Tayyabs in Whitechapel, London. The restaurant has been serving award-winning Punjabi cuisine since 1972. The Dry Meat Lamb Chops stand out, bursting with bold and perfectly balanced flavours. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for an authentic and delicious Punjabi cuisine experience.
