Often overlooked or mistaken for 'the' Notting Hill Bookshop, is this local gem specialising in cookbooks or any other combination of the written word and the culinary world, with an extensive range and a warm, cosy interior that embraces you like a long-awaited airport hug. The lady seated at the counter, who I presumed worked there, was incredibly friendly and some of our group immediately fell in love with her, though they never admitted it but I saw a glisten in their eyes that usually reserves its aim for an ice cold Great Northern after mowing the lawn on a sunny Australian Saturday afternoon. Real life Hugh Grant would be more likely to visit this store, as I understand he is a wiz in the kitchen, but I can't speak for Julia Roberts as I have never met her.

London’s best-kept secret! The lunch experience was absolutely magical. The bookshop is super cosy and charming. The staff is welcoming, with a cheeky sense of humor. The food was delicious (from the starter to the dessert). Price is impeccable as well. Can’t get better.

I was extremely disappointed by the shop as it is now, returning after several years. It used to be a serious foodie destination with knowledgeable staff in which one could find real treasures, but a large part of the selection of books has clearly gone downmarket. The lovely cookbooks with recipes from the newest publications is sadly no longer brought out by the shop. But the biggest let-down was lunch, formerly a highlight. The starter an avocado salad that tasted of mayonnaise with a postage-stamp sized piece of smoked salmon with crumbled Doritos on top and the main an insipid, soupy rice dish with chickpeas, frozen peas and a two frozen shrimp that tasted of nursery food. Even the cakes were not up the former standard. It was disheartening to see a former institution come to this…

Wonderful place for a foodie! In this shop you can only buy cookbooks but also have a nice lunch. Be aware the bookshop is open all week and weekend but don't serve food on Saturday! Be on time to take your seat for lunch, they don't take reservations. There is also just one dish, they cook from a cookbook. Make sure you leave room for a dessert, they have delicious cakes every day to choose from.

The place is a bit cramped and doesn't feature sufficient books relating chef's cuisine. You can barely find one book of Eston Blumenthal, very disappointed. We didn't get any other recommendation from the vendors either.

Excellent little bookshop devoted to cooking. While they have an impressive range of current cookbooks, what most intrigued me was their collection of second-hand, out-of-print editions that you won't find elsewhere. I picked up three titles, all published over 50 years ago, for just £9! A friendly gentleman (français, peut-être?) was running the shop. Definitely worth a browse if you are in Notting Hill.

Small but super well organized and easy to navigate. The owner is super friendly and the place is quite cozy and magical. Couldn’t help but kept smiling when I was there.

The store is beautiful, full of books of cooks from all over the world. If you don't mind to have your lunch at 12:00 (and queue for a little while) you we'll enjoy its delicious menu, for only 7£. It's very cheap, but I honestly say «only» because its quality deserve more than that, I can tell! It's amazing. Always delicious! And added to that, its very friendly, charming atmosphere. I love it!

It’s an okay shop. For a shop specific for cook books, you probably won’t find everything. You can find general cook books which generalises the food of an entire country.

Best lunch in town, Eric cooks incredible meals, in a cosy and family feel environment, surrounded by cook books that inspire your next dish at home.

Entered to have a look today since I was curious but the owner was not friendly at all and it immediately put me off coming back ever again...sadly.

I had read about this store in a newspaper last year. As I was looking for a cookbook with a specific recipe I thought this would be the perfect place and I was right. I live in Germany so I wrote an email and Eric picked out the perfect cookbook for me. He responded to my emails within a workday and the store sent the book the same day they got my payment information.

This was the most magnificent and intimate experience. The food was superb and outrageously underpriced. Just perfect, loved it.
