Place looks great. Drinks look and taste great. Shame some drinks were unavailable. Wondering why the 2 stars? The food is awful. Took less than 5 mins to arrive and was warm. Disappointing as the presentation of the food looks appealing and I had an upset stomach later. That aside if you are not planning on eating go there.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Patient with us too as we wasn’t sure what we wanted to drink and gave us a suggestion that we really enjoyed. Food came out pretty quick so no complaints there. However the food was alittle hit and miss. Ordered the sharing platter for two. The jerk came with like a peanut sauce which didn’t taste bad but not really what you expect when ordering jerk. For the sides we got Slaw, rice & peas and jollof rice. Sides where fine but not authentic. Overall I’ll be back for seconds.

Sorry I didn’t take more photos. This visit was my first and has been on the list for a while. I was not disappointed! Had the zombie sharer on recommendation and man that drink is a creeper! Took advantage of the happy hour and between the two of us we had over 10 cocktails singly. The small plates of plantain and wings was more enjoyable than the main I ordered of curry goat.

This was my first visit here. It wasn't very busy but still took a while for a staff member to come to the front and get me seated. Next, it took another 17 minutes (at least) for someone to take my order - it seemed as though they were more interested in hugging and saying hello to their friend at another table. When they did come, they said "has someone taken your order yet?", which means they probably forgot about me! No tap water was offered, and no wet wipes on the table either - I assumed there would be, with a lot of the dishes being eaten using your hands and fingers. When my dish arrived (quicker than it took from me being seated, to ordering), the server just put the dish in front of me and said "Here you go". Just seemed a bit blunt, not even confirming my dish. Oh, and at least one of your sinks in the toilet is broken, half hanging off the wall! Having said all that, the food was very nice. Pictured: Wing Wing Dinner and Jamrock Punch. The chicken just fell off the bone, and the sauce/marinade was delicious. I was only charged £5 for the drink, even though it said £7.50 on the menu - I didn't contest this, but no explanation was given either. However it didn't taste very alcoholic. Maybe watered down with ice, or other ingredients overwhelmed the rum. Would I go again? Probably not, because of the slight lack of service, and the fact that it's too far from where I live! That is all...

Oh my...what a shambles. We went with high expectations wanting to try authentic Caribbean food. The let down were the staff - simply in a world of their own...not attentive at all. You need to leave the table to go to them, not the other way around. It was a Saturday midday; hardly busy. We were told when ordering that not all food on the menu was ready so we couldn't order certain dishes. Hi there...this is a Saturday...did you chef sleep in? Ridiculous! Also we asked for a substitute as my friend wanted mac and cheese (suggested by the waitress), and we asked for our starters to come out first before mains. What turned up? No substitute and our mains were brought out at the same time as our starters. OMG...this is clearly the Caribbean equivalent of Faulty Towers! The food was mediocre...the saving grace was the bara bread that came with the goat curry, but otherwise the curry was somewhat gristly - fatty bits that did nothing for my enjoyment. It was incredibly noisy too...not really the music as that was acceptably loud, but another table of girls who were giggling and shouting - that should have been addressed by the waitresses. At the end, we wanted the bill...as mentioned, we had to leave the table to ask for it, rather than the waitresses noticing we needed the bill. Not a great impression all in all. I wouldn't go back; certainly not to the Brixton branch. Don't get me wrong the waitresses are friendly and want to do the best, they're just not switched on. I should have knocked off some money on the gratuity, but decided to leave it to recognise their friendliness. But you've been warned...don't go here for the service or the food!

The rum bar was disappointing. Half of the things that we wanted on the menu were not available, no saltfish fritters, no prawns, then other stuff was only available at a certain time, considering it was a Saturday night, which I imagine is their busiest night of the week, the food then took ages to come. Then we were served in these enamel bowls that were chipped and dented, like we were in the canteen of Brixton prison. I ordered the satay chicken which was drowning in peanut butter. Could have done a better job cooking at home.

Great place for a great meal. If you catch the happy hour, you can get cocktails at a decent price.

The restaurant is set up nice, on first look at the benches I thought they would be uncomfortable but they aren’t. The lighting is sufficient and they always have music playing. Staff have always been very friendly and attentive, happy to explain menus and cocktails. I have eaten here a few times, I always get the loaded Jerk Fries, they are amazing and served with enough sauce drizzled over them! The mac and cheese is a great sharer option, it's not the same as authentic home cooked Caribbean Mac and Cheese in my opinion, but it tastes good all the same and comes with a jerk sauce that is yummy. Good value for money, worth going for Happy Hour, the cocktails are nice. For more information on my experience here please send me a Dm on Instagram @sammiswinton Top 5% Google Local Guides

Really wanted to like this place but my experience was not good. They brought me the wrong appetizer and it took them over an hour to bring me the right one and another 40 mins for my main which was under seasoned . I liked the mocktail and The music and vibes were nice though

This place used to be amazing for food. The drinks are good, music and vibe decent. Customer service is ace, nice and friendly. But the food vexed me, why are the chicken wings so burnt!? The curry mutton doesn't come with plantain anymore.. New menu is terrible. Such a shame as I really like this place, but me and my friend won't be going back again for their food. Drinks was nice though.

Great welcome from BiBi and lovely cocktails made by Frank. The jerk was banging and we could barely finish the platter!! Perfect spot for a quick jaunt with the girls or an intimate date ;)

The chicken was completely burnt x3 . There was no seasoning on the food and no kind of sauce . The chicken also smelt funny. The rice wasn’t nice at all and the saltfish fritters was just warm flour with no saltfish.

First and last time I will ever eat here! Ordered wings, rice and peas, coleslaw and a side of plantain and my partner got jerk chicken in a bun. We waited 25 minutes to receive ‘ burnt, dry, hard, cold offerings’. The eating worst experience of my life. I complained to the ‘manager’, Bibi, she did offer to replace the meal but after that initial long wait I respectfully declined. She had an attitude when we asked about a discount, she definitely needs customer service training. The least they should have done was discounted the terrible meal or even better fully compensated. Don’t waste your money here. Clearly a hit and miss, restaurant. Just give it a miss.

We came for brunch and was told brunch was all day then she came back to say her manager daid because of happy hour we could have brunch. So we opted for happy hour cocktails and unlimited wings which came with 1 bowl of fries per person. These fries had cinnamon which was weird. The top up wings took 30mins to come and this batch tasted burnt had to send it back. Some of the cocktails weren’t available. Can’t say I would come back. Service was very slow. The staff were friendly though.

Showed up a little after ten, was told they were serving food and would be til 10:45pm, put our food order in, and waited. And waited. And then eventually someone came over and told us they didn’t have any more food. We sat and waited for our check for another ten-fifteen minutes while food was brought out to various other tables and we eventually flagged down a different server to pay. Truly awful experience all around.

We visited today for a lunchtime special with work colleagues and Candice looked after us very well. We all had a good laugh, our food was fabulous and so were the cocktails. Very tentative and service fantastic. We will definitely be coming more regularly and look forward to more lunches at Rum Kitchen. Very happy return to work 🙂

I had a lovely afternoon, the food was great & the atmosphere was lovely. My server was Ellis he gave us a lovely dinning experience and made sure we were happy with our meal and good for drinks. Very professional & efficient, as he memorized our whole order without making any mistakes. Would highly recommend if your looking for a great chilled spot with good energy.

Stopped by on a Monday night for a quick bite to eat. I was NOT disappointed!! Delicious, tender jerk chicken. Huge portion sizes. The jerk bowl came with a slaw and beans and rice. The jerk was spicy enough to make my nose tingle, but not painful. The beans and rice helped balance things out. Even on a Monday, the music was Litty and the staff was super friendly and helpful. This spot it’s definitely worth a trip to Brixton. The drinks were well-made and delicious (but potent).

We enjoyed a lovely night here about a month ago. I attended an intimate birthday meal, I enjoyed the music and the food very much! We spoke to whom we believed to be the manager, about why we couldn’t dance. As we were looking forward to dancing afterwards. We were trying to see if we could persuade them to restart the dancing eventually soon. But it’s not going to happen! We really enjoyed our cocktails and food, so we will be back!

Have to say if I didn't have to give starts I would give 0! So disappointed and will NEVER return to eat there. My friend and I went there and atmosphere was OK but what should have raised alarm bells was the amount of flies that were about. That aside the OVERPRICED food came and was warm at best and quickly went cold. Tasteless and not cooked with love at all! The rice tasted so hard as if was last weeks rice, the curry mutton had no flavour, the portion of plantain cost £5.50 and they are very mean with the portion size, only giving you 5 slices with some mango sauce that doesn't go! we ordered drinks and part of the ingredients they didn't have so asked what ingredients we wanted to swap them for. You are better off going to the market, purchasing 3 plantain for £1.29 and frying it yourself. We ended up telling then to take off service charge (just under £10 might I add!!). I'm always dubious with sending food back to the kitchen as never know what anyone will do to it so tried to eat what we could and left the rest and paid £36 each.....NOT WORTH IT!!! Management needs to do better if you are charging astronomical amounts of money to your customers, ensure it is food worthy of that price!

Great food, great people running it. Such rich history around it. The jerk chicken bbq wings are delicious, and the shamrock punch goes perfect with any item on the menu!!! This place is a must try if you’re nearby to any of their locations! My whole group finished all our food and loved every second of it!

Great rum punch on a decent price during happy hour, really nice set up here. Really nicely done interior. Nearly got charged non-happy hour prices so check your receipt though I believe it was just an honest mistake by the waitress (but it is not automatic in the till system like it is in other places).

Happy hour was great. Food good too. Left absolutely stuffed. Jeremy fries are banging and Ivie was a great waitress. Came over without being asked when our glasses were empty. Only taking card payments though so be prepared.

Excellent drink & food. Great place, location & service. The only query on hindsight is if there's an option to buy a bottle instead of a shot as 4-6 rounds of double shots (* 5 persons) can mount up pretty quickly.

Cocktails great but the food was terrible! All meat charred to a crisp/ burnt. Every mouthful was bitter. May as well have eaten a lump of coal. Plates chipped, plantain burnt and on tiny lumps- not like on their website pics , rice greasy with bits of black crumble from charred food, and no ‘peas’! This place is great for drinks and music but don’t go for food!!!

A-mazing place. Lovely people and excellent food and atmosphere. My first venture into Caribbean food in a restaurant - had the belly pork and fried plantain - they adapted the menu to what I wanted to try. They also help me choose some delicious drinks and gave me one free. Front of house staff are lovely with a passion for what they do. I’ve been working in the area so needed a place to eat. I’m going to return with friends! Thank you!
