Weirdest vibe and bar experience I’ve ever had. Frisked and checked by security more seriously than I’ve ever been in my life. Bar was extremely dead. Don’t take card, must pay cash. Genuinely looked like 14-16 year olds were in the bar. They were drinking tins of beer, perhaps smuggled in? Or they were sold them, but that seems equally weird. Bouncers were drinking too and mingling with the young people in the bar (see the security guard in the back of my photo). Some of the patrons were very old and the mix of people was so strange. Unfriendly staff too. Avoid like the plague. We left within 10 minutes.

Drinks terribly overpriced. 12.50 for a SINGLE G&T. They do have 2 for 1 cocktails (one cocktail is 14 quid) but only use cheap ingredients, including a lot of syrup, making everything sickeningly sweet. Don't go here. Dreadful.

This place is terrible. Went for a friend's 21st birthday and the place was tiny. They let way too many people in so you can't even move whilst you're dancing. Music advertised was false and the shots are £7. I'm a student but that is steep just for one vodka shot. Possibly the unfriendliest group of people I've encountered on a night out. People were more interested in causing drama than enjoying themselves in this. Music was good in some retrospect but don't be surprised if you're dancing with your feet glued to one spot. Quite a small place as well so would avoid for big groups.

Order any drinks and they’ll give you a double and charge you for it. £14.50 for a double JD & coke. £250 for a JD bottle, not even Shard charges those prices. Last time going there and thats a big group of people they’ll see the last of. Well done to the new owner/management.

Avoid this place at ALL COSTS. It is foolishly overpriced. To sell "House Sprirts" (cheap 12 bottle of vodka) for a £175 and "Premium Spirits" (a regular 70cl VS bottle of courvoisier) for £250 is criminal. They are deceptive when it comes to selling tables. Your deposit of £300 can only get you 1 bottle of 70clSpirits which is decanted behind the bar and given to you over the bar in a water jug. Great table service. Avoid At ALL COSTS

Very overpriced. Horrible inside. Drink prices on par with The Savoy!

I went there for an "event", so the place was very crowded. Even still, they knew about this in advance, so not having enough bar staff is not really excusable. They have a short selection of wines, but an extensive selection of spirits. They pride themselves on cocktails. I tried a few, and they are nicely made - with good amount of flair - but a touch on the expensive side. If you stick to beer, of which they have a few unusual ones, it can be reasonable night. Given the layout, the upstairs area could be a good place for a date.

Came in for a drink to check the place out for a party next month, i asked the bar tender if they did any alcohol free drinks, they said no along with a slight chuckle and puzzled look on their face .. I then asked if they make mocktails, they said yes, I asked for a menu but noticed the menu had no mocktails available just cocktails.. confused at the circle I was just sent in I decided to leave and find a spot with better trained staff and a less limited offering for my event.

Avoid - £3.50 for a lime and soda, when I questioned it the bar man said "Sorry this is Shoreditch prices" - Also, when I asked for a raspberry or passionfruit mojito the guy said 'he'd never done one before could I have a normal one' - Won't be returning.

Hired the venue event there on Saturday start time 8pm, the venue a few days before our event informed us we have to start later because of football and they will now be screening the match, we protested that this was not what we signed up for and demanded that our event stay as contracted. The venue agreed and said they would not be showing the game. Unfortunately upon arriving at the venue at 6:50pm to set up our event, we were greeted but the most unfriendly and hostile door staff I’ve ever had the privilege of encountering, we were searched thoroughly like we were drug mules, finally we entered the premises to discover the venue lied and was indeed still showing the England v France match!!! At this point I can only laugh…. Anyway we were then quizzed and pacified to allow what was blatantly advertised as an event to go on along side ours. At this point we started to realise this venue and it’s staff were totally unprepared, unprofessional and at times careless about the fact we had 180 people attending an event at their venue they were only focused on the 40 people there for the game. We literally had to set up downstairs ourselves arrange furniture, clean up as there was half drunk mouldy drinks and cups scattered between chairs and tables which also look like they had not been cleaned in months. Our event that was due to start at 8pm we had to beg for a member of staff to man the bar that’s supposed to serve our patrons, we had a BOGOF offer on cocktails 8-9pm but unfortunately to get these you had to go all the way back upstairs. Finally our event began and it then materialised the exhortation-ate prices that the staff would make up at any point I paid between £12-15 for the same drink, I purchased a shot that cost me £6 but then when I purchased 12 shots for my team I was swiftly charged a massive £96 (£8 a shot) instead of £72. The toilets ohhhhh the toilets, they are disgustingly nasty, how can a toilet have no soap, no tissue, no hand driers instead there’s a guy in there with contactless payment and a big roll of blue tissue expecting you to pay to dry your hands??? All in all I wish I read the reviews before booking this venue as they all are definitely true! Book and attend this venue with caution.

DONT GO HERE!! One of the worst bars I’ve ever been to. Generally a strange vibe and really quite rude staff not to mention the prices! £30 for two gin and tonics! Won’t be going anywhere near this place again.

Very disappointed in this establishment. I went in with a group of people, and it's evident that the woman at the door was charging entry of her own volition. Furthermore, despite scamming people at the door, they allow you outside and then try to charge you to go back in. Absolutely appalling.

Don’t even think about going in here. It’s just a trap that tries to get you to buy a drink at ridiculous prices. Probably one of the worst night clubs in the area.

As a silent shareholder I was extremely disappointed in to be shunned at the bar, and further more when I asked to sit downstairs as I normally would. A completely different bar to previous

Didnt even go inside the security were so rude considering there was no one inside at 11! They kept asking where i had come from previously and when i asked why another security came insisting i tell them what bar i had previously come from. Very intimidating i decided against going in.

Wish I read the reviews before booking the faded event. The security guards were so rude. How do they allow this people to get away with ruining people's night. We had IDs on our phone and we are in our 30s, they were so rude to us after waiting in the cold and already bought expensive tickets online. We couldn't get in and lost our money. We ended in another club called the book club and had a great time.

I have been to the Hoxton Pony twice before and had a good time, on Friday I decided to reserve an area in the upstairs bar...bad idea! The waitress had no clue about any drinks or cocktails, the hostess kept asking us to pay as if we were going to run off with out freshly made drinks! I was not impressed at all. We then went downstairs which was fine, but the club could do with more seating areas..they held a table which I assume was in case someone decided to spend £500-£1000 which never happened...other guests could easily have sat there as the table never sold!

Such a cool venue. Hadn't been in ages thought we'd pop by and check out the Hoxton Pony. Always a top night out in Shoreditch here. Recommended.

Had our Christmas party there. Not amazing music.. the cocktails are too sweet. They have the offer of 2 for 1 on mojitos so possibly a place to go before going out out. The downstairs floor is a bit weird too.. but looks like most places around that area of London.

The cocktails were nice and the tea party was good. I got the tea party cocktail to share for 4 people and it was a very good deal, however I wouldn't pay full price for it. It was hard to carry on a conversation over the cocktails because the music was quite loud. The service was quite good.

Terrible experience overall. 2/3 stars moved down to 1 star when literally seconds after our group were served drinks the music went off and we were aggressively told to leave. Allowing us to finish them in peace and quiet out of the way was a reasonable ask but we were harassed non-stop by a small army of staff to finish and leave. Some of the staff seemed to get a real kick out of being unrelenting together which I guess was lovely for employee morale. In addition, the overpriced drinks after a £15 entry fee, plus empty glasses and sticky surfaces all over the place really topped the experience off.

13.50 for a mocktail and the waitress says it costs the same as if it contains alcohol and the music was lame, the staff all looked a lil bit miserable. Table service without customer service
