Massively disappointed….. so many things went wrong on our stay! First - the room didn’t have a coffee machine despite my booking confirmation. We were told that only exquisite room has it! Secondly - on the wall underneath the window there was a massive brown stain! When we complained we were given a new room and talked to the manager and gave us free breakfast which I thought it was nice. Unfortunately the breakfast was very average- Premier Inn has better standards. Mushrooms overdone and tasteless, very standard sausage, boring tomatoes. My orange juice was watered down and the coffee very week (flat white supposed to be stronger). The rooms are not soundproof so don’t even dream to get a good night sleep, which is a massive shame as the bed itself is very comfy. The bathroom is like at Holiday Inn or Premier Inn - fixed shower head, which I hate. Only the interior, location and very comfortable bed of this hotel will get the top score here. I feel bad for giving such harsh review but I pay and I expect the best experience and this hotel is not cheap.

Our stay at the Leonard’s royal hotel… Room: the hotel is in a nice environment, the reception and lobby area is beautiful. Our room was a good size. However the bathroom wasn’t as nice. I had to ask for the bathroom to be clean because there were marks on the wall. After it was cleaned the marks were still there. The fixtures in the bathroom could do with being repaired. The T.V in our room had a signal problem which I reported and was told I would received complimentary champagne. The T.V got fixed but the complimentary champagne was never received. On the balcony there was used cigarettes as well as a smash mugged. Customer service: I strongly felt the service could be better. Out of 10 I would say it was 6. We would call reception on the hotel room several times but no one would answer, we only got through once early in the morning. The room service seems none existent as no one would answer the phone the same goes for the concierge. I requested if we could have new bedding after the first night however no one came to do it. Breakfast: Breakfast is good. I would recommend you go before 10am as it can get quite busy. Location: The location of the hotel is great it’s right next to Tower Hill station, if you’re travelling far. Spa: We used the spa facilities only once. I would say the steam room needs a scrub. Would I stay there again, no. My reason is because the price you pay does not match with the customer service I experienced. I would have expected a cleaner bathroom, clean balcony and room service.

Great experience. The staff were polite and very helpful. They provide a huge list of free amenities and the rooms are cute and updated. Rooms are a bit tight, but only if you're used to a sweeping space. The only true issue was that the shower door only opened on the side next to the toilet so I had to maneuver a bit to get in. The shower itself was plenty big. Pillows were quite firm, which my colleagues mentioned as well, but I didn't have any issue. Would definitely stay again.

Paid a decent price for two nights in quite a central location in London. Booked an executive room, it was quite snug, but bed was comfy and it was clean. Reason for only three stars was housekeeping and breakfast. Arrived back in the room approx 2000hrs to find housekeeping hadn’t cleaned the room. Phoned Reception to be told matter of factory that there were staff shortages and that they would get to me later in the evening. I asked if I could get clean towels as I would be going to bed soon, as I had an ear,y start. They arrived within the hour. Disappointing that a hotel this size, and from a large chain don’t have contingencies for such an occasion, and a note under the door was the least I’d expect, nothing better than keeping your customers informed. The breakfast was good, but there was a severe lack of leadership in the restaurant, no clue as to what tables were free, the guy that looked like the manager was running around clearing up dirty plates. He could really benefit from standing back and taking in the chaos instead of adding to it. No clean plates for the buffet breakfast, asked a member of staff who came back and gave me a side plate, I laughed but they walked away. Eventually got a full size plate. The egg station is a great idea, but cannot cope with demand, the queues here impact on all other stations, but the manager has probably never noticed this as he is always on a dirty dishes run! Might try sometime in the future, but hope the management take a look at what’s happening and make changes.

Lovely hotel in a great central location. Rooms are very comfortable & clean. Guest service was brilliant & attentive from everyone involved. Lovely spa facilities for the family to enjoy after a long day of sightseeing. Have stayed there twice now & am more than happy to book to stay there again.

Absolute disappointment. The title “royal” is deceiving as this hotel is nothing but. My partner booked this hotel for my birthday, upon arriving he was told “due to covid special requests cannot be met”. The staff are not welcoming seems as though no one wants to be there. We had to keep requesting for fresh towels. No gowns in the room or slippers… why is there even a spa? As it was my birthday, my husband was finally promised they will try leave something in the room… Came back to nothing. Poor hygiene: we found a bag of chips under our bed, the bathroom tiles are stained. Basically… if you plan a casual night sleep this hotel will do just that. If you plan to be comfortable and have a relaxing stay in London I suggest book another hotel. We stayed at the Crown Plaza for my partners birthday and received an A* Royal treatment. This hotel needs to let go of the “Royal” title. I’m embarrassed to say I stayed here for my birthday. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.

We stayed in this hotel in December 2019 and came back last weekend for one night. The receptionist was nice and upgraded our room. The room was nice, with a very nice view but the bathroom did not seem to have aged very well although the cosmetic amenities were good quality. The swimming pool and spa facilities are good too but unfortunately the jacuzzi was not working. The buffet breakfast was really good although we had to wait for a bit to get a table. The 2 main complaints I have to make are: - at 9:15am, we were still in bed and a staff member entered into our room without knocking!!! That was so random. And I even don’t think it was to clean the room as 1/ it was too early for checkout and 2/ there was no sign of « cleaning » trolley in the hallway when we went for breakfast 10 min later. I’m really wondering what she planned to do in the room at that time ! - we went to the hotel restaurant for dinner and it was awful and overpriced but Ill leave a separate review for our meal there!

Outstanding location, close to the Tower of London and right next to the London Underground Tower Station. Room finishes were good quality. My only feedback would be to get some fans or air conditioning going in the dining room. We did not pay to have breakfast included during in our stay, but one day we did pay for breakfast. It was so hot in the dining room that if I had paid to have breakfast included every day it would have been an ordeal. Regardless, I would still recommend the hotel and we would still return here on another trip.

There were huge problems with trains leaving Fenchurch Street, basically they weren't so me and my partner decided to stay the night at this hotel. He booked it online whilst standing in the queue at Reception. When we got to the desk we were informed it takes around 10 minutes for it to come through. The guy took my partner's name, told us to be seated and he would call when the booking came through. Over half an hour later we still hadn't been called so I queued again only to be told he'd forgotten! Luckily the confirmation was there and we headed to our Superior King size room, which we were assured by the receptionist was a very nice room. When we came in it wasn't any better than a Premier Inn! The only good thing was the huge bed which proved to be extremely comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. However there were little things that really let this hotel down such as the back missing on the TV remote control, fixed shower head, temperamental thermostat, awful view of buildings and the railway, stepping out of the shower was very slippery on the tiles even with the bath mat provided. Breakfast was expensive at £23 per head which was a very average buffet. We were shocked to see open jars of preserves with spoons stuck in them, rather than individual portions. We wouldn't eat any of the fresh fruit as the spoon handles were actually lying in the fruit. We would not come back to this hotel again. When it was Grange City it had much higher standards.

The hotel location is perfect, well connected to the underground and a short walk to st Katherine's dock and the south bank. The communal spaces are nice enough. The room was not the most spacious, the view was of the courtyard which has a nice relic wall but it's lit all night, so if u want to sleep with a view at night it's going to be bright. The room facilities were not that great, the safe didn't work, the mini bar was full but the fridge was not connected and everything was warm. The bathroom is utilitarian at best, the shower itself is amazing great pressure. The shower screen looks like it's made from 3 Datsun windscreens. The toilet flush was strange lots of water, not very good drainage (took a few flushes). The flush refill sounds like a whaling banshee and u can hear your neighbours flushes. The pool on the other hand was great, the changing rooms were good. Although at the time no robes were available. The breakfast was good, with lots of your standard options and they even were able to provide dairy free milk on request. All in all if you're after a no frills hotel with a pool centrally located, it's pretty good.

Lovely hotel. Great position for a tourist trip. Tower hill underground yards away. The 15 bus stop is 100 yards away. Stops at Pudding Lane, St Paul's, Royal Courts of Justice and finally Trafalgar Square. Tower of London and Tower Bridge are neighbours. Have a drink at the bar patio and on your left are the remains of the roman city wall built ad 120. Rooms are well equipped, large and comfortable. Staff are very helpful. Hotel very quiet for Central London. Previously stayed at the Hilton Tower and the Leonardo Tower, both reasonably good but this is much better. Can't review pool etc. as did not use them but from other Leonardo hotels standard will be very high. Prices appear low at this time so a good time to go.

Staff was incredible! Very helpful, friendly and polite! Rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was great with a good variety to try something new everyday. Great location within walking distance of tower Bridge and the tower of London as well as many restaurants and shopping. A decently quick cab ride from the royal parks and palace. Sky garden and gherkin within walking distance as well. Pool was great with steam room, sauna, aromatherapy and jacuzzi. Really a great place to stay to explore and experience London. Highly recommend!

Stayed for a night so we could watch a show at the Tower of London. Hotel is a few minutes walk from Tower Hill tube station with a few pubs and bars in walking distance, plus the bar/ restaurant attached to the hotel. Had an executive room with really comfy bed. Although you are on a main road its still a fairly quiet area. You are close to a couple of train lines so can hear trains passing if you have the window open but we didn't find them overly loud. Really nice buffet breakfast served in the restaurant. We used the pool which was great size. Also has s nice sauna! Room was clean and nicely decorated. My only negative would be that the attached bar closed at 11pm - though not sure if that was just because it was very quiet when we stayed. The menu in the room indicates there was room service so perhaps we could have ordered that way instead. Would just be nice if hotel guests could sit in the bar a little later! All in all a really lovely hotel, lovely staff and food and really good location.

Room was for three people but only made up for two. Room phone broken. Went to reception and had to carry our own towels back to our room! Mini bar empty and fridge off. Asked for it to be stocked and turned on, told it was off due to covid! Not true as friends in another room had a minibar. Tea and coffee cups weren't refreshed after first day. We asked for new cups but they never arrived. Service poor. Will not stay in a Leonardo hotel again. Rubbish

We were given a room on the second floor with a view of a wall. The bathroom light was broken as was the air conditioning. When we were in the room staff were continuously trying to come in - knocking every 10 minutes even though we had paid for late check-out and had a do not disturb sign on the door. On the plus side, the pool was lovely and quiet, we enjoyed it thoroughly!

Great location, good room (try to avoid room next to the elevator), super breakfast. The hotel is very close to Tower, very close to the Underground Station Tower and train station Fenchurch. Service is very polite, fast in many requests to fulfill. Happy to return though hope the price returns to the earlier level

We paid extra for an executive room but were given a basic double room by mistake. The manager the next day promised us a heavily discounted rate and that we would be "looked after" during our next stay . However, when trying to redeem this offer with the hotel at a later date they failed to honour it.

Wonderful place to stay when you want to be in central London. Close to Tower and tube and bus stops connecting you to everywhere in London and beyond. Staff is amazing, both front desk Esther and breakfast dining folks Edouard and Arnel. The cleaning crew does a good job on a daily basis. Rooms are large and modern, and breakfast buffet has a variety of food to get you supercharged for London adventures. Highly recommended for mix of price, amenities, location, and value.

Lovely hotel situated very close to London Bridge, Tower Hill And Fenchurch Street station. Breakfast was buffet style, many options to choose from. Spa and swimming pool. Only downside the water in the hand basin did not flow away too quickly.

Had an amazing stay at The Leonardo Royal hotel. Great location and well connected. Helpful staff and good service. The rooms are spacious and have the required amenities. Did not use the pool this time. Will definitely be staying again in the future. Thank you.

Good value for money! Got some complimentary gifts as it was my girlfriend’s 21st birthday. Room was nice and spacious, gave me 70’s business hotel room vibes with a landline phone in the bathroom 😅 Good facilities including a quiet and well-equipped gym, sauna, aromatherapy, steam room, jacuzzi, and a reasonably sized pool! Great service, could store our bags in the back of the lobby five hours prior to check-in, free of charge, and had them transported to our room by a staff member when we got back for check-in. All-in-all a very pleasant experience for a reasonable price!

As always, it was a pleasure to stay at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London City this weekend From front of house to room servicing, it was all lovely. 👍 Very clean, spotless Ececutive room with the usual attention to details. It was my Wife's birthday yesterday, and the team made a great effort in making it very special for her. Look forward to staying with you all again in 2024! 👍 Gina & Tony.

After a week in your hotel, the stay was excellent. I didn't receive the receipt via email. I've been trying to call since this morning. Sometimes they don't answer, other times they ask me to hold the line, play some music, and then no one answers anymore. I hope to be able to speak with someone sooner or later and to retrieve the receipt. In any case, I won't be coming back.

Day 1: We checked in two rooms late Monday close to midnight with not a single towel of any sort in one of our room. I called the front desk to inform them. They immediately brought up the only the bath towels. I was fine with that until the morning but was annoyed that they didn’t bring a facial, hand or floor towel. The next morning I told the front desk about it so I thought the matter has been addressed and was simply any oversight. However later when we returned back to our other room, the cleaners removed the wet dirty towels that we left on the floor but didn’t replace them with new ones either. Simply inexcusable in my opinion. Check out the toilet paper. There’s no holder for it so it’s placed on top of the trash can. This was the case for both of our rooms. The only bright spot was the underground pool. Great size with three lanes for lap swimmers. Day 2: I revised my rating from 2 to 1 star. We came back later still on day 1 to find a crib in our room. I again came downstairs to talk to the same manager. His response to the crib was that it was sent to the wrong room. This only mean that another parent(s) was still waiting for the crib for their baby.

We spent the weekend at this lovely hotel. Beautiful building with fabulous rooms. Lovely Staff are professional, friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a wonderful variety of dishes, from continental to fully cooked. The spa and treatment centre is lovely with steam room, Sauna, jacuzzi, and pool, amongst other amenities. Parking is mainly available at the local Car parks as there is very little road parking. Although can be pricey, I would thoroughly recommend The Leonardo Hotel at Tower Bridge. I would definitely visit again. ❤👍🏽

Stayed for two nights, for a birthday treat! Great speedy check in, hotel was clean and plush. We had an executive king room on the 7th floor. Clean, trendy, spacious, the bed was soo comfortable!! Bathroom a little on the small side and the air con had a fault. But we did not highlight this to reception as we were already settled in our room. Fantastic breakfast with lots of choice, hot and cold food and selection on breads meats and cheese. 5* Fab location right next to Tower Hill tub, walking distance to Tower Hill pier where we enjoyed a city cruise for 2 up to Westminster and back! Leo’s bar is a little overpriced with a single shot of Absolute Vodka costing £8 that’s without a mixer! The whole bottle costs around £18 to buy so their mark up is extremely high. Swimming facilities lovely very relaxing, everything was working. Bathrobes and slippers in room. Altogether a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Great staff especially Claudia on reception. Well sited and comfortable, this hotel may not always have the views their publicity suggests but great facilities, spacious interior, good breakfasts and very pleasant and helpful staff without exception. Would recommend this for the future.

I wish i could give ZERO star to this hotel. The worst hotel stay ever, both my partner and I think. (1) We booked execute suite for four nights, but were given room 1103, which we found out later was actually a king double. (2) We got bed bug bites during the stay. The bites caused serious allergic skin reaction three days after we left hotel. My GP was surprised by the huge number of bites on my arms, upper back and legs. So if you live in 1103, be careful; though we do not know about the other rooms. (3) There was not way to open the little fridge in thee room. (4) No shower gel. (5) No slippers, no robes; you have to call the reception to get them. (6) Pillow cases were stained. (7) My partner called the SPA reception to make appointments, but was told to do it online. However, on the website, there was no access to appointment making. So i called again after a few minutes, the SPA reception asked me to go to the SPA to make appointment. Ridiculous. No consistence at all! (8) We rang the room service three times to finally get through, but were told room service was not available until 11.00PM. It was 10.40PM the. A cleaning staff knocked our door and gave us the menu at 3.00PM. What is the point of giving us the menu at 3 when the service is not available until 11? 8 hours to study the menu? (9) Reception did not answer calls sometimes. (10) The male manager in the lobby (daytime) was cold and defensive. This is the first time I write a google review, but the hotel was too terrible. So i feel i have to write my experience to remind people.

  • 3/5 Ryan H. 2 years ago on Google
The location was great and most of the staff were lovely. Despite the chaos, most of the reception staff were patient and understanding. However, we were told that our room was ready at 4pm and upon returning, we found that every other guest checking in was told the same. This resulted in a queue that lasted over an hour. The TV in our room was also totally broken.

Nice hotel in a very good backstreet location close to Tower Bridge, Tower of London and water taxi pier. Excellent large swimming pool. However stay at hotel somewhat diminished by effects of Covid? Only 2 of 3 lifts working - long delays and internal floor indicator not working. Room nice decor and clean - good size bathroom/shower although bath/shower difficult to get into/out of - but no servicing including tea and coffee. No signage to cafe or restaurant. Taxi rank outside but often no taxi; even Uber seemed to have difficulty finding.

I'll start off nicely could not fault the staff and the service both are 5*. The pool area was nice not alot of space but big pool. Now for the hotel room itself was definitely not 5*. We booked an executive room with king bed and we got 2 twin beds pushed together, as we was staying for just the weekend I didn't bother complaining. The electrical sockets on both sides of the bed did not work, we had to charge our phones on the other side of the room so waking up in the morning to check the time you had to get out of bed. The bathroom tiles need replacing you can see there stained dirty.

My partner and I have stayed at a few of the Leonardo Hotels before and so we’d just like to share our experience from this particular one. To start off with, check in was a nightmare. Online we had booked for an Executive King Room with breakfast included, the lady at the check-in issued us keys, and as we arrived at the room we realised we’d been put into a small double bed room which didn’t include breakfast for the same amount of money, and so we left our things in the room to go downstairs. After finally speaking to someone higher in management, she issued us the right room. On our way back to get our things from our initial room we had found that another couple were in the room with all of our possessions. Quite frankly this is a violation of privacy considering all of our money, jewellery, clothes & cameras etc were in the room. Thankfully the other couple were just as confused as we were & we thought nothing of it at the time & proceeded to our new room. Following on from that, our first night at the hotel was okay - room service was polite, not too expensive & arrived fast. However after asking 3 times on the phone, and twice in person for 2 extra pillows we still didn’t receive them until the following day. Aside from that, the stay was mediocre. Food was great & staff polite. Unfortunately we shan’t be returning to this particular hotel due to our experiences as it was just too much hassle for a holiday.

The hotel was in a perfect location and the room was very modern and classy me and my partner had an amazing time there, the customer service at the hotel was really good they were very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we didn’t have any electricity in our bathroom and half of the rest of our room for 15 hours, we were told the night before someone would be up to fix it, we then waited a couple of hours and followed up then we were told no one would be able to fix it until the morning, we then followed it up again in the morning were told that someone would be up in 30 minutes after waiting another 2 hours we followed it up again and after waiting 15 hours in total someone came up and fixed it within 5 minutes. We asked for some compensation as we weren’t able to use our bathroom and half of our rooms electric for 15 hours they only gave us a late check out which was 2 hours extra in our room. We had a lovely time here and would recommend staying, just unfortunately the communication wasn’t very good.

Have had a mix experience here. Water was not available in the room despite asking cor it multiple times. Air conditioning initially wasn’t working and had to complaint. The ventilation in my room was below average. Air conditioning in another room was making a lot of noise. Location however is perfect.

Perfect location for gingerly walks or serious exploration. The staff was very attentive, courteous and prompt in any of our requests. The room was spacious, clean and got made on a daily base. We especially enjoyed the well maintained swimming pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room after our long walks. The adjacent wine library provided much needed spirit(ual) relaxation. The breakfast was plentiful in offerings ranging from custom prepared omelettes by a chef, salmon, range of cold cuts, cheese, fresh cut fruits and much more.

The pool is nice, the room service was good, and the hotel bar had a friendly staff. Overall a bit pricey, but it was in a great location, so that's understandable. The biggest downside was that during check in only one elevator was working. So people going to the ground floor to the pool and people trying to get up to the top floors all had to wait on the same elevator. It was fixed by the next day though.

I visited to use the spa and restaurant. I received fantastic service from Alvaro at the bar. The mocktails were delicious and he was the highlight of the evening. Special shout-out to Jonathon from the F&B team and Dave from Rena Spa, they provided 10/10 customer service and made sure my visit went smoothly. I’ll definitely be coming back soon, this was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had.

Wonderful place to stay! We stayed here last week for 3 nights and we enjoyed our time here as a family of 4. The room was big enough end there was quite some room in the closet for our clothes. The breakfast was amazing. A lot of variety so there was something for everyone. The location was ideal for exploring the city with an underground station just around the corner. Staff was kind and helpful. Bathroom was a little on the small side.

We traveled as a family of four and we shared a spacious room with two large size beds. It was great - we had the space we needed and could also use the chairs and tables in the room. Very helpful staff all the way A bit strict with the kids hours at the pool Breakfast was excellent and had lots of options. Could perhaps wish for a bit more on the healthy side 😃

Nice hotel in great location close to the tube station. Reception staff was nice however I couldn't call room service as phone not working. I went downstairs to the restaurant to order food into my room. I was informed it would arrive in 20minutes but waited over an hour. Beds are comfy but you can hear all the noise from the street, so not the best for light sleepers.

I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to all the staff especially Chelsea & Zack for making this stay outstanding for me and my partner! I asked for the room to be decorated for a proposal and the hotel done a fantastic job for this! Access to the Swimming pool, spa, sauna, gym, restaurants and bars. Very professional. It honestly couldn’t have been a better experience! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice quality, friendly and helpful stay! I’d give it more than 5 stars personally. The view was outstanding of a nighttime overlooking London tower bridge. The check in was super easy and there was no feelings of intimidation! I will definitely be staying here again! I can’t thank Chelsea and Zack enough for all the help they gave. Also the bar sorted out making cocktails that i actually drink (I’m fussy haha). Me and my partner decided to go and get the staff a thank you card for our stay as they helped make it so memorable.
