Great sound, quality place πŸ‘ŒπŸ» It's clean, pint's 6 quid, seating at the far end, friendly staff and not crowded which was super nice. The low ceiling and length of it plus you're so close to the stage, it gives an interesting vibe. Will deffo be going again as I see they are getting really amazing bands.

Awesome, I have to give a shout out to the staff, they brilliant, and a special shout out to Ben Sutherland, he made sure I had what I needed. I was in a wheelchair for the gig thanks to a previous operation. Ben and his staff made sure I was given access to a lift and taken in via a different access point. The club itself is awesome, great acoustics for the bands. 229 The Venue is a great venue if your looking for somewhere to go, im looking forward to going back in December for the "Decapitated" gig 🀘🏼😈🀘🏼

Brilliant live music venue in the centre of London. Modern, has a few chairs and tables around the outside. Great bar. The sound was brilliant the night I visited for a gig.

Great little venue close to the Great Portland Street tube. The bouncers are a little bit OTT in their protection of the stage. I understand no drinks being left on it but standing too close to it.....Ridiculous. Other than that gripe I've never seen a bad show there. The set up is great. Good sound and a nice big stage. It's a big little venue.

I booked because I wanted my birthday to be special. We arrived at the door and we were told that the event will start an hour and a half later than stated on the ticket. I asked for some sort of compensation and we got 6 shots even though there were 9 of us. We had no service at all throughout the whole night and we asked for mixers (juices and coke) and the host arrived an hour later with a few cans of red bull asking us to pay for it. I gave a chance to this place but was extremely disappointed and I Don't recommend it if you expect the minimum service you pay for.

Great venue for live music. Very expensive drinks, but that's typical London. I went to an event promoting young rock musicians from around the world

At the entrance there was a line 50 people long, but the bouncers were as fast as they were respectful, and I got in in no time. The hall is below the ground and is reachable via 15-20 stairs; though there were people attending the show on wheelchair, so supposedly there is a lift at work. Inside, the very first place I noticed was the bar, with plenty of options including draft and bottle beers, wine, prosecco and champagne, almost every spirit, shooters, and soft drinks. There were five bar tenders at work, so you could get your drink conveniently fast; and the prices were not different than any other bars in London downtown. Next to the bar, there was a section were you could buy merch, such as T-shirts, posters, and vinyls; though they didn't come cheap at all. The stage was three feet high with clear view from all over the room. The sound quality was nice and -unlike some downtown halls- not merely high and full of noise. The bathrooms were not as plenty as you'd expect, so if you wanted to use the facility during the breaks you would need to wait in a queue. Outside (on the ground floor), an area was divided via fence, where you could go to fill up on fresh air or smoke, and then dive right back in without any security/ticket checks. Overall, nothing fancy, and yet very enjoyable and convenient experience.

Difficult to find but well worth the effort. A lot of stages are too low. The stage at 229 is 10 out of 10 for height. A great view for everyone. My biggest tip is dont buy a drink. Β£7.50 a pint.

Great venue. Great floor for dancing salsa. Drinks not bad. Air conditioning fantastic, and for once security respectful.

A great venue for a small intimate gig. The bar had a good variety of beer and the whole place was well-organised and clean.

The most underwhelming experience of my life. Went to RED concert on 12/10/2022. The acoustics were absolute rubbish. I couldn't make a single word of what was sung , neither for RED or any supporting band. I did try listening from various angles with no luck. Having been a huge fan or RED for almost 15 years, it was excruciating to have the whole concert ruined like that. If you care about quality in slightest, avoid this venue as much as possible.

Great venue. Went to see the band Red which was awesome Drinks are expensive though, though that could be a London's thing. Two pints of beer was ~Β£15.

I've never been here before attending the Red gig. I must say it was a nice surprise. The room itself with the stage is pretty small and there are no barriers (the crowd is literally against the stage) and this was very cool. It's almost like being on the stage. When it was time for the main band, a couple of guards came down asking to leave some space to the stage...honestly I've no idea why. Anyway still pretty close (both guitarist and singer could high five from the stage!). The sound was pretty good even very close to the stage. A perfect place for an intimate gig!

Cracking venue and really enjoyed Utah Saints and Jesus Jones however bar prices were astronomical. Β£7.50 per pint which is more than I was charged at the summer festivals, combined with massive queues it was a bit disappointing.

Great night, great bands, definitely a convert to the Ryders and the Autumn Saints. The only issue is the outrageous drinks' prices. If the 100 can get it right why can't the 229? Β£7.20 for a bottle of Doom is frankly ridiculous and a rip off. PS There are two rooms/stages, one, the one I've reviewed, is a large hall with the stage at about five to six feet high; the other is a much smaller room with the stage a foot or so high. Both have their own bars. - Now no Dom Bar available even at the rip off prices. Great sets from Squire and Secret Affair.

Saw Pop Will Eat Itself here recently and really liked the size, shape, and location. Will keep an eye out for more gifts here. Also, the pre gig info and email was really good, rare to see a venue make an effort in that way.

Great venue. Like an underground bunker. Nice size and fantastic size and atmosphere. Reasonably priced drinks served by friendly staff. Right next to Great Portland Street station. Superb sound. Heavy doom and sludge gig. Grave Lines. Great.

Medium size multi purpose venue, seems pretty new, consequently all pretty clean and fresh. Saw Altered Images here live and can thoroughly recommend as a music venue.
