Lots of signs saying no photography but I decided to be a rebel and snap away anyway (without a flash) because it's just so beautiful inside and, frankly, the £9 entry felt a little much for what is a relatively small space with no opportunity to savour the interiors after leaving. The woman on the front desk was rather perfunctory and sounded like a disgruntled peacock but once we got out of earshot it became a wonderfully peaceful and deeply satisfying experience. Somewhere to sit would have been nice and a little more information on the works of art on display would have been great. The gardens in Autumn are a little neglected but you come here for the house which is truly spectacular.

The unusual red brick Victorian exterior facade does little to dispel a sense of anticipation for the inquisitive visitor: the reveal is breathtaking., A (free-hand) conflation of eclectic late Victorian and exquisite Middle Eastern decorative elements as astutely stage-crafted by an artistic temperament, satiated by an oriental infatuation. Grade II Listed - a home, working studio, gallery and an elaboration that’s both a rhapsody of sumptuousness and an “Arabian (k)Nights” fantasy. As if Kubla Khan decreed : “ a stately pleasure-dome” in salubrious gentility . Astonishing. A delirium ! Recommended without hesitation.

Definitely worth a visit and definitely worth the money! A classic art decor kind of museum which depicts allot of history and a mixture of cultured art, small gift shop near the entrance along with the admission desk served by friendly staff. I'd recommend watching the short video before looking around the house. There is a nice cafe here to accompany the character of the building. Nice and quite with a big spacious garden, there is a choice of seating inside or out depending on weather or you can choose to sit on one of the wooden benches in the garden.

Very good museum in Holland Park. Leighton House was the former studio-home of leading Victorian artist, Frederic Leighton (1830-1896), The exterior of the house gives little clue as to the treasures that lie within. The highlight is the extraordinary Arab Hall which reflects the artist’s fascination with the Middle East where he travelled widely. The hall, which was completed in 1881, was built to display Leighton's outstanding collection of 16th and 17th-century Islamic tiles and also contains mosaic floors, a gold mosaic frieze, set beneath a gilded dome, and a small fountain. There is a contemporary art exhibition in a room on the ground floor. Well worth a visit.

Leighton House is a stunning Victorian villa filled with art and beauty. It was the home of Frederic Leighton, 1st Baron Leighton, a well-known Victorian artist. Leighton is best known for his paintings of classical and allegorical subjects, but he also collected an impressive range of art, including works by Renaissance masters like Michelangelo and Raphael. Leighton died in 1896, and his house was opened to the public as a museum in 1900. The most impressive room in Leighton House is the Arab Hall, built to house Leighton's collection of tiles collected during visits to the Middle East. The Arab Hall is a truly magical space. The house is also home to a large collection of Leighton's paintings, sketches, and sculptures. Leighton House is a beautiful and fascinating place to visit. It is a great place to learn about Victorian art and architecture, and it is also a peaceful and relaxing place to escape the hustle and bustle of London.

I was disappointed as Victoria exhibition room was closed as well as the garden, it wasn't fair to pay same amount of money and not able to see everything. Otherwise the house is small, but so beautiful especially the stairs and the Arabic room

Quite a spectacle and something that you must see. Even as a seasoned Londoner. Leighton gathered and created manynfine works. But the layout of this beautiful home has to be seen. My favourite parts were the Arab Hall and Studio.

Well worth the few minutes walk from the Design Museum. An Art Museum & Historic House including coffee shop and garden. Current exhibition: Iranian Artist Shahrzad Ghaffari: Journey to Oneness until 1 October 2023. Her beautiful mural - Oneness is here to stay on the walls of the new helical staircase. A hidden gem. A fascinating place to visit. The architecture and colours inside are wonderfully. You could easily spend a couple of hours exploring and having a cuppa in the café. It's very easy to get to by public transport.

The Leighton House was really nice place looking at the architectural style and history of the house, which goes through the life of Federic Leighton, as well as a showcasing of his and other artist's artworks on permanent and temporary displays they have, plus the staff are really informative with information they have in the museum.

This house is definitely worth a visit, considering the great architecture and works by Leighton, as well as a small exhibition below, exhibiting more recent work by chosen artists. Tickets are at a cost, but not too bad if you check if a discount applies for you.

Stunningly beautiful and probably one of London's best kept secrets - unmissable if you're interested in the Victorian era and/or Pre-Raphaelite art. Taking out one star due to unwelcoming staff - I was quite rudely asked to leave ten minutes ahead of the stated closing time.

The place worth visiting for people who cherish aestetism in their lives. The owner loved every piece of his house and devoted his life into it. Fantastic mixer of Arabic infuence as well as continental ones. There is also a posibility of Having paiting classes.

Much smaller then I expected. Best part is the title work in entrance hall but there is a lot of other art work to see, unfortunately you're not allowed to take pictures now. Nothing much in the garden.

I was lucky to visit on the nicest day of the year. The garden alone is a haven of peace. The interior is so well reconstructed (some original pieces have been retrieved and good replicas constructed or bought). It’s an ongoing project but so much has been achieved in the last 2 years. Sympathetic additions of cafe and media space too, and classy offerings in the gift shop.

We had a wonderful private curated tour last night. Full of information, anecdotes, insights and all sorts of other miscellaneous associated bits and pieces. What an amazing museum and a lovely garden too. Definitely worth more than one visit. Highly recommended. Short listed for museum of the year and such a shame to be pipped at the post.

An exquisitely maintained residential environment of a 19th century painter with a keen appreciation of the decorative arts of his day. Rich with painted detail, tile work, color and textiles and “exotic” decorative arts. Think “peacocks” and you will have an idea of the flavor! A bonus is that it’s in Holland Park, a beautiful residential part of town, and it’s right near the design museum which is always worth a visit.

An astonishing little gem with very original insights into the live of a victorian age artist. We also felt that we learned a lot about British live / Londoners of that era in general. We highly recommend combining your visit with the nearby 18 Stafford Terrace building (also advertised in Leighton House)

It is a wonderful little gem of a museum near Holland Park. Each room has explanatory files to read about the room you are in. Very well planned and organised with a lovely café. Truly beautiful, the architecture, the paintings, and the history of Leighton.

Pretty atmospheric. The space is soothing and the decoration in the Arab Hall is breathtaking. The house is a great mixture of the Orient and European styles, filtered through the aesthetic sensitivities of Lord Leighton. The rooms are splendid and you can chill out in the Studio or the garden, both spacious and decorous.

A little gem... particularly first two rooms .. and an artist studio upstairs that's quite marvellous. Would have preferred it to be more thoroughly about life + times though. Two ancillary exhibitions that felt a distraction

I'm sold on here. It's like a synthesis of east and west. Turkish tiles and Middle Eastern carpets on one side and western sculptures and paintings on the other. Everyone was very kind. You should definitely go and see it.

Gorgeously eclectic home of a great painter. Artistically designed with stunning blue tile walls leading to the "Arab Hall" which is literally fantastic! The house is beautiful and so is the art, and it's interesting to imagine how Leighton lived. If you like architecture and design, this house is a rare treat.

I absolutely loved visiting Leighton House. I visited when it had Flaming June on show, which was stunning. The house itself is a work of art! I love the atmosphere of the main room where models were (and still are) painted. I look forward to visiting again when it has re-opened.

You could be forgiven for thinking there is nothing to fire your senses when you stand outside of Leighton House & it's red brick facade. However, step inside and the painstaking recreation of the interior as Lord Leighton would have known it is worth the entrance fee. Beautiful gold leaf ceilings, arabic tiles, a fountain set into the floor & carved screens all await you on the ground floor. Upstairs you enter Leighton's studio where the walls are adorned with a collection of his paintings and sketches. There are frequent exhibitions of work by Leighton & his contemporaries to keep you coming back & certainly, if you have a love of Victorian art, it is worth a journey. The staff are friendly & helpful, the toilet facilities are clean & the small shop provides a selection of books, jewellery, cards & decorative items. Located adjacent to Holland Park, which is also worth a visit to admire the formal & not so formal gardens & a surprise of a walkway with beautifully painted murals depicting a Victorian garden party at Holland House.
