Insightful museum delving into the life of Florence Nightingale and the legacy she left. A small, but detailed space providing lots of information and stories of Nightingale. I left having felt thoroughly informed and enlightened on her life. It does appear they are working under limited space and this impacts how the museum is organised. Would’ve preferred some *better* signage of where to start the visit to follow a proper timeline of events. Despite the limited space there is a clear effort that has been put in to try and make the museum dynamic and engaging in how information is presented.

Interesting museum to visit if you are looking for something different to do in London. You will find out about the lady with the lamp and how she helped the sick and wounded. The exhibition is well laid out and informative. I enjoyed my visit, I went to investigate for my blog and would recommend this to anyone interested in nursing and important historical women.

The "Lady with the Lamp,” Florence Nightingale, was a pioneer in the medical and nursing fields. The Florence Nightingale Museum at London’s St. Thomas’ Hospital, which Nightingale established in 1860, is a fitting tribute to the pioneering nurse who inspired a new generation of nurses and medical professionals! The museum showcases her pioneering achievements and her legacy to modern-day nursing within the NHS. Visitors can explore Florence Nightingale’s original artifacts, including her writing desk, letters, and photographs from her time in Crimea. Through interactive exhibits and displays, visitors can learn about Florence’s life and work as well as the history of nursing during wartime. One of the most striking exhibitions in the museum is the “Crimean War Gallery.” This section of the museum provides a detailed history of the war and highlights Nightingale’s role in the conflict. Through artifacts and displays, visitors can see how Nightingale and her team of nurses transformed the care of wounded soldiers, reducing the mortality rate from 42% to 2% within a year. The museum also explores Nightingale’s impact on healthcare and nursing, both in Britain and around the world. She is considered the founder of modern nursing and was a pioneer in the development of healthcare policies and practices. Her legacy can be seen in the various exhibitions that showcase her contributions, including her writings on healthcare and sanitation, which continue to shape the nursing profession today. The Florence Nightingale Museum offers a range of educational programs, including workshops and talks, which are aimed at students, healthcare professionals, and the general public. These programs provide a deeper understanding of Nightingale’s life and work and aim to inspire visitors to carry forward her legacy in their own lives and careers. It has an accessible toilet and a baby-changing facility! It requires an admission fee for entry. It is not cheap, costing £12 per adult and £6 each child. The Florence Nightingale Museum relies heavily on donations like this as a nonprofit organisation. However, the admission fee may prevent some people from visiting this excellent museum. It could be perfect to offer more discounts to qualified visitors so that more people can visit this museum to learn about Florence Nightingale’s legacy and history. It is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history of nursing and healthcare. It provides a fascinating and educational experience that celebrates the life and achievements of one of the most influential figures in the field. Whether you are a student, healthcare professional, or simply a history buff, the museum is well worth a visit.

The Florence Nightingale Museum is a small but fascinating museum dedicated to the life and work of one of the most important figures in the history of nursing. The museum is located at St Thomas' Hospital in London, which was Nightingale's base during the Crimean War. The museum is divided into three main sections: Nightingale's early life, her work in the Crimea, and her later years. The displays are well-curated and informative, and there are plenty of interactive exhibits that make the museum engaging for visitors of all ages. One of the highlights of the museum is the Nightingale Room, which is furnished as it would have been when Nightingale lived there, and is filled with her personal artifacts. Another highlight of the museum is the "Nightingale's Notes on Nursing" exhibition. This exhibition tells the story of how Nightingale's book revolutionized the practice of nursing. The exhibition includes a copy of the original book, as well as a number of other artifacts related to Nightingale's work. The Florence Nightingale Museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in the history of nursing or the life of Florence Nightingale. The museum is small, but it is packed with information and exhibits that will make you appreciate Nightingale's contributions to the world.

The actress who did a 20min performance as Mary Segcote was very good at portraying her life (20yrs senior to Nightingale). There was a stand with a member of staff where you could make your own medicine by selecting a wounded soldier and attending to his ailments. It was alarming that in the mid 1800s we were losing more men in war to disease than being killed in action. God bless pioneers like Nightingale who improved the conditions, and designed future hospitals so that overall health was sustained.

During this pandemic, I am in awe of the special mixture of heart and mind, that makes possible the grit, love and service the nursing team provides - patient after patient. So many nurses have given their lives so those in their care may continue theirs. Viewing the dioramas, displays, and memorabilia, you learned about the "practice of care" Florence Nightingale found, and changed, to become the founder of modern nursing. The Florence Nightingale Museum has brought me closer to an understanding of this special commitment. Wheelchair accessible, of course. Parking available. The museum is about one mile from "Big Ben" which is located at the North edge of the House of Parliament. Public transportation is recommended. Proudly, I am married to a nurse.

The Florence Nightingale Museum was great and full of surprises. We learnt more then we originally expected to. I won’t ruin the surprises by saying anything here but if you go, you will know what I mean afterwards. Well worth the money. Will take between an hour and two hours.

I’m a nurse (RN) & I wanted to be there on Florence’s birthday (5/12). Bucket list item ✅. The actress who played Florence talking about her life was amazing. Loved the videos & displays. Had a great time. Definitely worth seeing.

I visited the Florence Nightingale Museum with my SO a while ago, and when we read the museum is facing problems to remain fully open, we both got sad. The museum is not so big, and focuses on the life of Florence Nightingale and facts about her contributions to modern nursery. Visiting this museum you may get a grasp on how things were back in Florence times, and why her improvements in nursing care are so relevant.

This museum is a very informative and interesting museum of Florence Nightingale and nursing. Fantastic to see a museum dedicated to nursing and the debt owed to a true British heroine. It was great to learn about the foundations of modern nursing laid down by Nightingale and the evolution to modern times. Lots of artefacts that belonged to or associated with Nightingale are on display. The videos interviews with Caribbean nurses was just awesome. There's also a pretty good exhibition on the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. There were a bunch of little peep holes to view pictures related for Nightingale, and to be honest after a couple I thought it was just a pointless as it doesn't actually add anything to the visit for an adult. Maybe it's aimed more at children. My only other criticism is that the the museum is actually quite small and the entrance fee is high for what is at most a one hour visit. Overall, I enjoyed the visit. The artefacts, exhibits and writing are first class. For me, one of the best of the exhibits is the stained glass window in honour of Nightingale, something that would've been created at a time when few women were honoured. The staff should also be commended as well, very friendly, efficient and not at all flustered when the horde descends on the museum at opening time.

Highly recommend especially for children, my girls learnt so much from the museum. The trail they had made also reading interesting as they are were looking for clues. The actress for florence nightingale made her story so interesting by telling it live.

A nice little museum with gift shop, takes about an hour and a half to walk around at a leisurely pace and read all the information. A nice mixture of information, interaction and multi-medias, there's a little dress up area for kids to get involved with as well. A good museum to visit without getting bored/tired walking around.

The host was extremely helpful. We were limited on how much time we had at the museum. The host explained that the color-schemes indicate different stages in Nightengale’s life. That made it really easy to prioritize what we wanted to see first. I was even more impressed with her mathematical abilities and her ability to visually present data.

A small but interesting museum. Currently there is a special exhibition on the impact of the Spanish Flu following on from the First World War. The main exhibition gives an insight into Florence Nightingales life and her impact on healthcare. It shows particularly the tireless work that she and her team of nurses performed during the Crimean War. I think the concession rate for pensioners should be 60 not 65; most other attractions in London use 60 as the concession age. I thought £8 was a bit too expensive for the size of museum. I think £5 would be a fair price.

I took my elderly clients here for an afternoon trip it was such a lovely experience, it would be great for kids to go too. There's lots of interactive items to listen or touch there, I also booked the talk which explains what had happened to Florence nightingale and what she had achieved, this talk was great for our clients to learn and listen to. The only issue I had was that they could have a snack inside the museum so we had to bring everyone out to reception in the wheelchairs which was a little tight, but apart from that all the workers were really lovely and helpful.

This a small museum with a very good exhibition on the life and legacy of Florence Nightingale, the mother of modern nursing. Through the museum you will learn a lot about what inspired her, what were her accomplishments and a little bit of the history of England as well. The museum has a small gift shop with nice souvenirs.

We came with our 5 year old as she’s super interested in healthcare. While the museum is great with artifacts - very poor story telling or guide in the pictures or artifacts. There is no sense of flow or story telling. To top it up, the lady at the entrance didn’t offer my little one the trail map to actually have an activity while we saw other kids with one. We had to go back to ask - and we were only 5 people in the museum so she couldn’t have said it was too crowded or anything. Such a pity that a great museum that it could be it isn’t. Edit: we spent £45 in the shop and the same lady “conveniently forgot to give us the free book that you get on spending £35!” At the end we realized she didn’t service us properly on purpose - can’t think of anything else apart from “we weren’t her regular customer type”!

An off the beaten track museum is the Florence Nightingale museum, situated at the back of St. Thomas hospital. It is a quite small museum and most is contained in one room. It will take you on a journey on both the life and times of the lady with the lamp, but it will also tell you about the evolution of nursing with a focus on the military side. Though not big the museum can definitely keep you there for an hour or so and on a rainy day you can sit through a classic movie or two about Florence. The ticket is valid all day so you can always come back if it starts raining!

You would think it would be easy to find with a big sign, and once you see it down the pathway you are on track. A real shining light and leader in her field. This would be ultimate history on her life.

Full of fascinating objects and information but I found the displays disjointed and difficult to follow. I'm used to museums being laid out chronologically or in some kind of order; this was not.....or at least I couldn't find any! The use of peepholes to impart information made me feel queasy (not to mention the hygiene concerns). Such a shame as I felt opportunities were missed to tell the story of an iconic figure.

(Translated by Google) Located on the grounds of St. Thomas Hospital, very close to the Westminster Bridge on the River Thames. You can learn about Nightingale's success in the Crimina War, her life, and the value and significance of nurses on the battlefield. Also, a special exhibition of the 200th anniversary of Nightingale's birth? I was there. It's small, so an hour may be enough for a tour. Paid and advance reservation is required. In addition to the toilet, there is a souvenir shop. During the pandemic, one has to book in advance for admittance to this fairly small museum which is next to St Thomas's Hospital on the south bank of the Thames. Waterloo Underground station is probably the nearest station if you are arriving by tube. This museum is dedicated to the founder of modern nursing and her life during the Crimean war. Entrance is not free, except for carers.
