The White Tower was built by William the Conqueror and it was the strongest point militarily of the castle but it also provided accommodation for the king and his court. Before you reach the main entrance you can see a door showing the place where the skeletons of two young guys were found. They are believed to belong to the two princes murdered by Richard III although is not clear. Inside you can see one of the best Norman chapels in the country. You can see also the chair used for the last execution in the Tower and other interesting exhibits.

Old, impressive and white! The White Tower is the oldest part of the Tower of London. With the construction of this keep in 1075-79 by William the Conqueror, the long and impressive history of the Tower of London begins. The many renovations that follow resulted in the largest keep, 35m x 32m x 27m (l x w x h), in the Christian world. The white color of the keep originates from the Kentish rag-stone and the Caen stone. As usual with Norman keeps, the entrance is well above the ground. The large rooms in the keep are now used as exhibition space. One of the later additions is the Romanesque St. John Chapel. Even without the magnificent collections on display here, the White Tower is a most impressive building!

The Original Tower, this beauty is full of history and weaponry. Lots of stairs to climb but well worth it. Terrific displays and good views.

After walking round the grounds we went into the White Tower, the original Norman keep, to see the arms and armour display. This had changed hugely since our last visit many years ago and we spent well over an hour working our way through each floor. The exhibitions were excellent with a good mix of display and interactive areas and everything was well explained and labelled.

Wow. The amount of weapons and armour here is amazing. So well maintained and gleaming as if it were just made. It’s really eye opening to see the skills they had all those years ago. It’s a bit of a walk around but we’ll worth it with some interactive screens. Fascinates to see the armour of king Henry. Can’t imagine how heavy they must have been.

One of the most decorated parts of tower of London. It is an artillery museum keeping on display old armour and weapons. What makes this place beautiful and worth your time is it's architecture. It an old old but well preserved and quaint. You would love sitting here and imagine how beautiful it would have been in its time.

The finest collection of armor and weapons I've ever seen. It's amazing how much they are able to fit in such a small space. Be prepared to spend about an hour here, a very awesome hour!

The Royal Armouries White Tower was a spot in London my older brother was especially interested in visiting. And so, we visited and it was very interesting! We toured around the entire Tower of London but were mostly fascinated by the intricate armours, swords and variety of weapons the Royal Armouries displayed and detailled.

Amazing tower full of armor throughout the eras, the diversity in craftsmanship was something to appreciate. Interesting part of the visit to The Tower of London, definitely a top reason to visit.

Probably the best part of the tower experience, seeing the suits of armour in all shapes and sizes for man and beast (horses) some of which are absolutely stunning, as you move onwards and upwards you'll see all manner of weaponry from various stages of history and development, through to some very modern firearms, some very blinged up ones too, there also a beautiful chapel, fairly large and very modest but this just adds to it's beauty, there's quite a lot to see, with a few interactive things, a definite high light.

I think it's appropriate that an actual dragon guards the white tower! Great exhibits of arms and armour, a continually used building for a thousand years keeps it relevant and alive.

The castle was very small, but very crowded. It didn't really have any historic things relating to the castle, it had random things even things from the present like a p90. It's like they just throw things in.

In my opinion, after the crown jewels, the royal armouries was the highlight of the whole Tower of London experience Various displays that included full sized brass horses and horsemen.

Amazing collection of armor, swords, models, and even a few ghosts that wander the halls...

  • 5/5 Trevor DC G. 4 months ago on Google
Incredible really we still even have a lot of this armour to see today. Various past Kings including Henry the Eighth, and then Oliver Cromwell too did a lot of cutting up of older armour to make it more usable to Men at Arms of their respective days.

This is a part of the White Tower inside the Tower of London,, provides one a nice insight into the ARmory over the ages, the top most floor with a Dragon made out various pieces of Armor is truly beautiful. The whole tour of the White tower and the Armory would take about 45 mins to an hour

Definitely one of the more interesting places to visit in the Tower. It's a climb to the top but there is so much armor on display its worth it. Was recommend by a Yeoman.

Really interesting to have a look through the old armour and weapons. The times we just a brutal time in history, with the different ways of killing/torturing people was just sadistic. When you have a look at the armour, look closely at the equisite engraving

The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom's national collection of arms and armour. Once an important part of England's military organization, it became the United Kingdom's oldest museum, and one of the oldest museums in the world. It is also one of the largest collections of arms and armour in the world, comprising the UK's National Collection of Arms and Armour, National Artillery Collection, and National Firearms Collection. Originally housed in the Tower of London from the 15th century, today the collection is split across three sites: the Tower, the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, and Fort Nelson near Portsmouth.

Incredible living history The displays are fascinating and will be of interest to any age group

  • 3/5 Paul S. 1 year ago on Google
I had hoped this to be free to visit similar to the one in Leeds and honestly found it lacking in comparison. It's part of the white tower, so you have to pay for that as well. Some great pieces of armor and the basement is pretty cool, but I wouldn't visit white tower just for this.

(Translated by Google) A castle that you must enter if you enter the tower. It says that it has so many steps but it is not like that since the top floor was closed and did not coincide with the autoguide. It is worth going in, there are not so many rises since every so often you have a flat where there are spectacular things. Security is very good and everything is very well guided, you enter from one side and exit from the other, practically without realizing it. It is very well designed.

Gotta be said man this was the best armory museum outside of the US that I've ever seen. I've been to Canada, Mexico and Germany, but this one was super! The wings dedicated to the Great War and even the Boer War were especially cool.

I've been coming to the Tower for 40 + years and still enjoy visiting, the suits of armour are worth the visit alone, superb craftsmanship, and the walk around the tower through chapels and down spiral staircases is amazing. Beautiful place.

However, you should be well on foot, as there are a total of 200 steps up and down. (Original) Beeindruckende und epochenübergreifende Ausstellung der Waffenkammer.
