The perfect match between photographer and coffee lover! Inside you can feel the passion for photography, amazing pics on the wall of famous artist, a lot of vintage camera to see and some to try (see the pics) good coffee and a nice museum on the basement (only £1). Highly recommended 👍👍

A great place for light refreshments after a visit to the British Museum. Located in museum st a few minutes walk away. A wonderful themed cafe with cameras and prints on the walls and a camera museum in the basement. Food is very good with a varied menu. Prices are reasonable.

This is always my first stop when I come to London. I never understand why it’s so quiet. The coffee here is excellent. Much better than the big coffee shops nearby that are packed to bursting. A tea and a scone for £5.80 is a bargain in London. Just 10p more for a cappuccino. Cool, camera themed cafe and a cute camera museum downstairs. If you’re visiting the British Museum, this is the best place for refreshments!

(Translated by Google) I took a camera to repair it a few days ago, and the one who received me was a Chinese-looking gentleman. He just finished washing the dishes that day, and he touched my camera with wet hands. I said I'm sorry to trouble you to wipe your hands. I don't know what's wrong with this sentence, he used it to mock me several times afterwards. On the day I went to get the camera, my friend and I held the receipt together but got a back with a different number. When we asked him what was the reason, he said lightly after watching it for two minutes, Ou I wrote the number wrong, without any apology, and his attitude was very bad. When I checked the numbers further, he yelled at us: "Get out of my shop!!!" and said a lot of unreasonable and angry abusives, such as saying to my friend: "Everyone Everyone makes mistakes. Do you know what you did wrong? It's that you made friends like this." We didn't understand it very much, and thought he changed our backs. Even if you don’t, it’s obviously that you made a mistake. Why do you have such an attitude toward us. I want to warn all Chinese friends to stay away from this shop. If it is really a misunderstanding, please apologize politely instead of letting us get out of your shop.

When you visit London or even if you live in this amazing city and you are ever walking near Museum Street, don’t miss the opportunity to pop into the Camera Museum, it is literally a goldmine of information about any camera you have ever seen or want to buy. I was in there last week having a coffee and a Kit Kat and just loved the atmosphere and romance of this amazing place, the walls are covered with great images and things to just make you drift off into history, the history of photography, you will love it if you love photography and want to learn about the journey to mobile phone photography which is the only type of photography most kids know these days. The quality you get from printing a photograph taken with a Leica or a Hasselblad is incomparable. They have for sale, Hasselblad’s which is literally the rolls Royce of medium format photography, It’s such a unique place that even if you don’t want to buy a camera you can have a coffee or a soft drink or sandwich surrounded by the history of photography equipment, the people who own and run it are so amazing don’t be afraid to ask questions they are a fountain of information. Don’t be fooled into thinking its just one floor, or that the camera section at the back is all there is, downstairs is a treasure trove, a goldmine, an Aladdin’s cave of almost every camera you can think of and when you go downstairs (for a small fee,) you will find out why its called a Camera Museum. This place has been her since. If I remember correctly this place has been here since 1999 so its done well to survive Covid and recession after recession, but remember places like this need support, so even sitting for coffee will help to preserve this rich historic phenomenon. But honestly this is a must visit you can see all of the amazing equipment that makes that phone you use for taking photos suddenly make sense. Getting there, the nearest underground is Tottenham Court Road, If you come from the New Oxford street direction its on your right hand side surrounded by all types of interesting shops restaurants pubs, eateries and gift shops, and of course you can’t miss the amazing British Museum of course. Take a look at some of my photographs it will give you a little taste and a feel of what you will see when you visit.

I'm a street photographer and just had a broken film camera to be fix. Ward is the guy who helped me to follow up, he is “super nice” and very talkative. Apart from that, it is a place must visit in “London”, very classic and remind yourself a lot of memory using the film camera. I’m loving it and you guys should visit it

(Translated by Google) The museum is small but well organized, it would be nice if the exhibition were accompanied by technical explanations, curiosities, anecdotes. The small bar on the street level, okay. (Original) Il museo è piccolo ma ben ordinato, sarebbe bello se l'esposizione fosse corredata di spiegazioni tecniche, curiosità, aneddoti. Interesting little museum, if you are interested in seeing how the form of the camera has changed over the years it's good. Could do with some more information on the camera etc though.

Amazing little museum about cameras, Tucked within the lower level of a charming cafe, this camera museum gives visitors a small snapshot of photographic history. The whole place is a quirky combination of a coffee shop, camera store, and museum. The lower two rooms are packed with different types of cameras, some of which you can even pick up and hold. The various models basically form a timeline of photographic technology, with cameras dating from the 1800s—the advent of photography—up until the modern digital age. London's Camera Museum began after one of the cafe’s owners, who happened to be an avid camera collector, decided to open his own small camera shop in the same space where customers enjoyed their coffee and sweets. He later incorporated pieces from his collection into the space, forming the museum. Even the upstairs cafe shows hints of the collection waiting down below. Photography-themed paraphernalia covers the walls, which patrons can admire while snacking on cookies and cakes. There’s also a small camera repair shop at the site as well.

I can't express how great these guys are. After a slightly harrowing experience in another camera shop nearby, I headed over to the Camera Museum to get a second opinion on a couple of eBay-purchased film cameras. The service was friendly, and the turnaround to get my camera's light seals replaced was speedy compared to the 4+ hour estimate I was given in the other shop. The camera repair man even took the time to show me how to use the cameras because I'm a complete newbie to film photography. While the cameras were being fixed I took a look around the camera museum below the cafe - highly recommended if you're interested in the history of film cameras!! The entrance fee is only £2 which isn't much at all to support a small and independent museum without any public funding. The cafe part of the shop is also great. It wasn't as packed as the other pubs and cafes near the British Museum which was a godsend in the hot weather. I enjoyed a freshly made apple and mint juice while I was there, and while I didn't have the chance to try the food it looked and smelled pretty great. Overall, I'd highly recommend a visit if you're in the vicinity; whether its for camera repairs, the museum or a bite to eat!

The Camera Museum is an awesome little find for any camera lover but frankly, even if you just fancy a coffee, this place rocks. It's just sooooo much more interesting than a chain store cafe. There's games and books and it's a great place to chat photography and blow an hour or so out. Massive, highly, big tip recommend.

I visited the Camera Museum twice in the last year to service a beloved film camera, and both experiences were beyond exceptional. From the steady updates regarding the status of repairs, to the very reasonable pricing charged for repairs and quick turnaround times, I highly recommend the Camera Museum as a place where an expertise and love for film cameras proves itself as one of the best places in London for repairing and maintaining film cameras.

I wanted to surprise my wife and buy her a camera as a birth gift. We travelled here one hour only to find out they closed. She is 8 months pregnant, it's very cold outside, our time and effort just wasted. On their website, google maps and their own window they state opening and closing hours but they don't obey it themselves. Edit: yes, exactly as you mentioned, your website shows your reopening hours but also mentions you are open Saturday: 12noon - 6pm and so does your working hours signage on your window. Thanks anyway.

Lovely place. The museum downstairs is really interesting. While quite small it is nonetheless filled with old cameras to see and some to even use. The entry is only £1 as well. Highly recommendable to anyone who is interested in cameras. The staff are really friendly. The cafe itself is lovely too. With nice hot chocolates. Almost all the tables have vintage cameras on them to try out. As well as numerous books to rifle through.

I went in to get a second opinion on a very specific camera repair, and the staff could not have done anymore to help me. They went above and beyond for me, which I did not expect. I didn't get a chance to look around the museum, but I will next time I visit. Great place and amazing to see somewhere keeping the excitement about analogue photography alive. A great place for a brew as well if you need a break from the madness of central London or just to go and talk about and find out more about cameras and film.

A fascinating place to visit if you have an interest in the history of photography. Lots of cameras - as you might expect, with the opportunity to handle a few, and reminisce manual focusing amongst other things. The cafe is a welcome inclusion, with an opportunity to sit outside in the sunshine. Helpful and informative staff too. We were so pleased that they demonstrated the technical beauty of Hasselblad cameras with joy and enthusiasm. It was a pleasure to visit and meet the team.

My favorite coffee shop anywhere on the planet. Everything about it is lovely: food and coffee is 1st class, the guy who runs it is amazingly nice and the retro camera decor is great. The atmosphere is perfect and then on top of all that there is a really cool camera museum downstairs, AND they do repairs!

  • 5/5 David A. L. 2 years ago on Google
There are few places, anywhere, with the depth of knowledge about cameras of all types and eras, a genuine enthusiasm for them, and the kindness to share it all. The atmosphere is complimented by the chance of "a damn fine cup of coffee," while dreaming of finding the money to afford that day's must-have Hassie/Mamiya/Rollei...etc. With customers like me, desires change with the wind, but the Camera Museum does not judge. Peace at last.

  • 5/5 Dominic L. 1 year ago on Google
Serves two purposes; a great museum run by passionate people and secondly, a good cafe in an area where it's hard to avoid chain coffee shops. Can go to the cafe without going to the museum, but would recommend both.

If you're at all interested in cameras, this is the best three quid you can spend in London. Dozens of old cameras of all sorts from all eras, plus an eclectic selection of photographs and other bits and pieces dotted all over the place. And if that wasn't good enough, I had a nice chat with the owner (?) who said "Good lenses" when I mentioned my father's Voigtländer - exactly what my father used to say himself!

  • 5/5 J S. 3 years ago on Google
100% satisfied with the repair work, and grateful for the positive, friendly and professional service of this place. I had my Hasselblad 500C film backs repaired to an excellent standard within one hours’ work. I would highly recommend this place for repairs. With the books, museum and coffee as well, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. The shop owner is a genuinely good man. I recently left my film camera at the Camera Museum to get repaired. My camera is quite old so it was a pricey repair, but I still paid about half of what another place estimated. The guys working there are super nice and very chill, but not in such a way that would be unprofessional. You could tell they know their trade and want to do their best to help. Not only that but the coffee shop is very enjoyable, and I felt very comfortable having and enjoying my coffee even though it's quite small - very cozy place!

Visited with a friend one Friday afternoon at the start of October. This is a great place to visit for any one interested in photographic camera's and or to purchase pre-owned camera's and or equipment. We spoke to the staff in regards to various camera's they have for sale (they have a massive knowledge in regards to the items they sell), the shop is also a cafe so it's a great place to sit and enjoy a beverage. We paid the £1 to look around the small museum room down stairs, literally every wall is covered in camera's from over the years. Will definitely be re-visiting to purchase a pre-loved camera and a coffee in the near future.

A quiet gem of a cafe in the heart of London. The museum evokes nostalgia for anyone who has used a film camera, and has a multitude of museum pieces packed into a small space. The food and drink is also excellent. Well worth a visit.

And a wide range of perfect novelty gifts for birthday and Christmas presents. 5-STARS!

Amazing shop! My camera had a issue and took it to a shop in Soho that recommended to change a couple of pieces with a total of 500 pounds repair. Which is really expensive for what I thought should be a simple fix. I took it next to Camera Museum who came up with another solution who cost me a forth of the previous shop. It seems like they are passionate photographers too and they got a nice chill area where you can order tea, coffee and sweets. Highly recommended. Thanks again!

I went here about three weeks ago on the last day of my visit to London. The coffee shop is really nice and reasonably priced. They have cameras at the tables that you’re allowed to play around with. It costs £1 to go down and see the museum. It’s a great collection of cameras and it really shows you how much they have changed and evolved over the years. They also have a store where they sell film, accessories and cameras ranging from disposables to Hasselblads, it’s also a repair shop. They specialize in Hasselblads, which you can also rent here. The staff is really nice too! You can feel they are passionate about cameras. Definitely coming back on my next trip to London. Hopefully I’ll be able to afford a Hasselblad someday 😜. Beautiful cameras!
