Good points: The staff member was very friendly and informative. There are toilets on site. Bad points: The price differed from the website (£12 when listed as £10 online). Maybe this is by design to encourage booking online, but I can't see anywhere where it states that. The museum is pretty small. It's effectively 5 small rooms. You could whizz round it in 10 minutes easily. In no way does it represent good value for money. One of the rooms was pure conjecture too (What Jack the Ripper's living room might have looked like...!?). It's rather light on any kind of detail. For people with anything more than a superficial interest in the history etc, this is a waste of your time and money.

Really enjoyed our visit. The museum is set in a narrow Victorian terraced house which is set out over 5 floors, this gives a real feel to how people may have lived at the time. The exhibits are very interesting to look at and I like the effect of the darkened rooms with the flickering lights, which would have been similar to the gas lighting that was used at the time. The little shop had a good selection of souvenirs to buy and the lady that was working in the museum was very warm and welcoming.

Jack the Ripper Museum is a historical Museum situated over six floors recreating scenes from the time. Recommended visiting time for the Jack The Ripper Museum is between one to two hours. Jack the Ripper Museum Tickets - Only £12.00

A relatively small museum in size but a great experience. All 5 floors are themed around the Jack murders. You can spend a moment there running through it, or an hour or two reading all the newspapers and texts the museum is full of. We were sold tickets by a very nice lady who was helpful. Admission is a fair price. I definitely recommend it.

I've always wanted to visit since it was opened in 2015 and seeing the place is to be sold, it was now or never, not knowing the museums fate. We only went for the visit and not the walking tour due to having other things planned for the day out. The museum is on the smaller side, but they do try to fill the rooms with as much information as they could without it being overcrowded. We found it quite interesting with the information provided and the props they had on show, we all seemed to enjoy the hour or so here. The service provided was good, nothing bad to say and the items on sale at the gift shop was good. Getting here, Tower Gateway/Shadwell (Docklands Light Railway), Shadwell (Overground), Tower Hill (Circle/District line) would be your best choice and walking it here but you could also take the bus, a number of stops dotted around. Recommended.

Great place! Easy to find. Come early to avoid rush of people. Then you can take your time to read and explore. I found the experience really good. Spending a good hour alone and exploring. A lot of information and well worth the time if you are visiting the Tower area.

The museum is definitely off the normal touristy path during a Holiday weekend. I really enjoyed the history and uniqueness of the museum. There are audio, visual and written exhibits on each floor that add to the rich history of the mystery of who was Jack the Ripper. Definitely worth your time to stop in a chat and take a tour.

A great little find, Tower bridge was sold out! So we went looking for alternative entertainment. Found this little gem! Being a fan of the macabre and all things gruesome we thought why not? It was a great little museum, 5 floors of information, lots of photos, newspaper prints, journal entries of the police. And plenty of props and stuff to see. It Is worth the entry price. Well worth it if you like things about ol' jack the ripper!

Fabulous.....I loved it. Good insight into dreadful living conditions and general squalor of the late 1800's London in the East End....and no doubt elsewhere throughout London. Pat who was on the desk was very pleasant and welcomed her visitors to the museum enthusiastically. I heard other visitors thank her for telephone directions etc. Thank you Pat. I'll be back next year for another visit. I recommend a visit to the Museum.

The only place in London dedicated to Jack the ripper and his poor victims .spaced out over several floors.with recreated scenes of the period .including a scene of the crime.police Station. Bedroom and mortuary. Very well put together. Complete with a little shop to.and the lady who served me today was lovely.very friendly.welcoming and had a great knowledge of the JR story. So a big thank you to her.please go along and support this. History is sometimes not nice.but places like this are vital. So we can get a first hand view of our past. And if you think you know what suffering is. Then just go along and see how these poor people used to live. Thats suffering. Please support. Thank you.

Was expecting a bit more for one of the most notorious unsolved mysteries in England. The effort was there but given the availability of modern technology they should update the exhibits to include audio/visual media interactions. The woman that greeted us was friendly and welcoming. The price of £12.00 was pretty hefty for what was presented.

A great place to visit. Very interesting and informative. The guided walk at 3 pm was well worth doing. Sam the guide was fantastic. He took us to the murder site's, and new a great deal about the subject. The Ten bells pub is still there, and some site's in Whitechapel have not changed. Since 1888. Well worth a visit.

I was very eager to visit this museum which greatly piqued my curiosity. Made up of 5 floors, you manage your visit. The reproduction of the different pieces seemed to be very faithful, it was interesting to learn more about this story. Be careful though, the top floor (which I remember is in the basement) is extremely difficult to see. Overall I enjoyed my visit and will definitely return.

Have been meaning to visit the museum for ages; glad I finally visited. Such interesting information much I didn't know! It doesn't really take long to go through the floors, how the rooms are laid out with music, etc, is fantastic it really sets the scene. You can book online or pay at the muesum cash or card payment is accepted. Their is lift access for disabled visitors and an accessible toilet. The gift shop is as you enter. Pat was fantastic - the lady at reception running the museum.

It’s seems like a small museum but it’s actually 5 floors of incredible detail of the victims with real life evidence. It includes photographs of the victims and small cool details honestly I loved it. They also have exhibitions with incredible details and so much history.

For anyone interested in the history of Jack the Ripper, this is an excellent little place to visit. Very well presented. I knew absolutely nothing much other than the notorious name and visited as my wife loves mysteries, crime books / documentaries. So as a complete novice I did come away with a much greater awareness of not only what happened, but what life was like for Londoners at the time. The museum is over 5 floors, each floor an exhibit that gives you an insight into a different part of the story. There's loads of details and some genuine JTR artefacts as well as cuttings, pictures all relating to the time. I also like the way the museum acts in some way as a memoriam to the women killed. Reading their stories made the events ever the more so tragic and sad. We spent a fair bit of time reading the different things on show and therefore spent a good 40 mins in the museum. So it's not huge but if you are interested in your history / crime mysteries etc, it's worth the visit. Book online for a better price than on the day. Tickets are non-time specific which is really helpful. It's also only a short walk from the Tower of London, so we visited the Tower in the morning, had lunch and then walked the 10-15mins to the museum from there.

The Jack the Ripper Museum is a museum and tourist attraction that opened in August 2015 in Cable Street in Aldgate in London. It purports to recreate the east London setting in which the unsolved Jack the Ripper murders took place in 1888. Six incredible floors recreate scenes from the time. The murder scene in Mitre Square, a gentleman's sitting room (would Jacks' have looked like this), the Whitechapel police station, Mary Jane Kelly's bedroom, the mortuary and much, much more. Opens at 9:30 a.m. and closes at 6:30 p.m. #LVPMoment✔️

This museum is so worth visiting!! As a horror fan Jack the ripper didn't interest me much. After a small research, I decided to give it a shot, and I sooo glad I did.the museum has 5 floors, each describes part from Jack's the ripper life.it shows the supposedly room Jack kept all his medical murder tools and his books.the other room describes the poor Jack's victims.but the scariest room was the underground room, the mortuary.it shows the post mortem photos of Jack's victims... It did a spine chill even to me...

Absolutely stunning! I am impressed how the museum is set up, having each "scene" displayed and shown as the viewer is inside a film or on the stage. It really makes us feel as we step into that creepy world. Voices and sounds in background add more emphasis to the scene, especially the last room. I found that quite spooky. Unfortunately the basement wasn't accessible. Highly recommended 👌

Informative information in this museum with incredible details and respect to the victims. The floors with all the props, illustrations, and newspaper articles are laid out well. £10 tickets to buy on the official website to visit anytime or £12 in person. My visit was just under an hour, trying to read as much as I could, including looking in the gift shop, which is as soon as you walk in.

  • 4/5 Stuart C. 2 years ago on Google
I thought it was pretty good. There are essentially 5 rooms to go into and covers the lives and times of the victims. There are some original items belonging to one of the police. It is quite limited though and might be a squeeze if there was a crowd in. The shop is really well stocked and the support staff was great to talk to.

Rather gruesome as you would expect. There has been much written about this individual. I found the museum very interesting and the way it is laid out is very good. I would recommend when you take a London bus tour hop off and take a look. I'd allow yourself around an hour. Staff very friendly.

Nice little museum, very warm welcome as soon as we walked in. It's an interesting place, take time to read all the information in each room otherwise your visit will be pretty short. It's a small place and you can do it comfortably in 30 minutes, so you could say it is overpriced for what it is. We went as a family of 4 and spent 45 mins in there.

This place is awesome and I loved my visit here. It’s a great place to come for anyone who’s into Jack the Ripper like myself. It was where one of the victims was staying as well as having a morgue here that one was brought after being found murdered by Jack. I’d like to go again for sure.

There was some real artifacts to look at and each floor had a different scene setup to give you a feel for the era. The front of house staff was lovely and very helpful. Looking forward tondoing the walking tour later on in the day.

Nice little museum about Jack the ripper, situated near to where the murders took place. Just a short walk from Tower Hill underground station, for anyone arriving from other areas of London. Was expecting it to be bigger, but the rooms were set out well and the second floor has things out you can pick up & look at. There is a basement level that replicates a 19th century morgue, so this part is probably not best for younger kids or more squeamish people.

There's not a great deal to see however it does give you some idea of the living conditions of the era. Some authentic items on display such as whistle, notebook etc from one of the police officers who attended the scene. A replica of the mortuary is very good.

There are multiple floors, with each containing different murders/scenarios during the era of Jack the Ripper. There are bunch of documents also posted around, providing information about Jack and his victims and the police that was looking into the murders. Love the wax figures and room set-up of the place Took us about 1-1.5 hours to get through the whole place. There were also rooms providing some background information on the victims and their lives. I honestly don’t know what I was expecting going into it but it was a good time and I enjoyed the museum.

We liked the museum, as its always good to see history and events of days gone in london. It is small though and thunk the price should be lower for the length of time it takes to walk around. Good side it has plenty info boards telling the stories of Jack the ripper and some genuine artifacts in there too. Took around 20 mins to look around at the most. But it was a good experience but as I said should be cheaper for length of time it takes.

Four stars because the neighnorhood was sketchy. But they cant help that. Take a cab there if you can. Paid 12 Pounds with a student discount. The lady there was very nice and knowledgeable. Its a nice museum to go to. I read a few books Prior to going so I knew a few things. I'll be returning as it was a bit crowded so I couldn't exam stuff as I wanted to.

  • 4/5 Mark T. 1 year ago on Google
This is quite a quaint little museum despite the rather horrific theme. The lady on reception was very nice and welcoming and instructed us on the order in which to visit the different floors. I did enjoy my visit there but I feel it was lacking in content as there wasn't really anything new that most people wouldn't already know about the whole Jack the Ripper story. There were several rooms laid out on seperate floors of the museum to reflect different parts of the Whitechapel murders such as a policeman finding a victim, the investigation - complete with various police artifacts (some of them original) and the mortuary complete with gruesome photos of the victims. In all we spent just under an hour there and I do feel it is worth a visit especially if you don't really have much prior knowledge of the whole 'Ripper' story. **A small tip - we bought the tickets online which knocked a couple of pounds off the price of every adult ticket**

Me and my partner visited the Jack the Ripper museum, the entry fee was 12 pounds and the staff member at the reception was very friendly and helpful, informative too and mentioned about what each floor has; my favourite floor was the second floor which was Jack the Ripper sitting room and how he might have lived which I think was a good idea and a brilliant feature and really did give an insight to how Jack the Ripper lived. The basement was the morgue which also gave an eerie feeling and has photos of the victims bodies so not for the faint heartened. Going up the stairs to the other floors were spooky and definitely gave the eerie feeling too. The little gift shop on the ground floor had plenty of choice. We both enjoyed our visit to the museum and definitely recommend to others and will be going again.

Just finished their Virtual Tour in the safety of my own home. Really enjoyed looking around all the floors and finding out about different objects in probably a bit more depth than I would have if i'd walked around it. It looks wonderfully designed - very atmospheric, and some rightfully grim, so I look forward to returning, in real life, to see the artefacts for myself.

I was a little disappointed with this place. I think it would have been better had there been a tour guide taking you around the rooms explaining what was in the rooms and the back story. There was a lot of stuff to read and it just felt a bit to much. It's over 4 floors and I can imagine if it was really busy there wouldn't be much room to move.

Brilliant little museum, incredibly friendly staff member who is clearly passionate about Jack the Ripper and didn't mind me chatting away about my theories. Insightful and great to see so much original items. There are wax figures and recordings in case anyone is wary of them. One of the best independent museums I have been too. So informative, based of facts. Props and general information very good. Definitely visit here again. Worth the £12 entrance. Nice little shop and very pleasant staff. 10/10m
