The hidden treasure of Greenwich Park. Secluded behind the observatory, away from the horde of tourists at the top of the hill with selfie sticks. Steps lead to a footpath which surrounds the entire garden. A couple of benches to read on, surrounded by flowers and robins. Note: the majority of photos uploaded for the garden are by oblivious people who never found the garden and have just taken photos of the typical view at the top of the park.

I recently visited The Old Royal Observatory Garden and it was an experience to remember. The garden itself is beautifully maintained and provides a great spot to relax and unwind. The museum and observatory are also worth a visit, with lots of interesting exhibits and displays. But the highlight of my visit was definitely the breathtaking view of London at sunset and night. The panorama is simply stunning and not to be missed. I highly recommend bringing a camera to capture the moment. The steep climb is definitely worth it!

One of the most stunning park that london can offer. Huge park with lots of places to view and make picnic. The view point is extraordinarily, as you can see the skyline clearly from the other side of the thames. Would suggest everyone at least to visit this place.

I didn't actually go in to observe the stars. I did however, sit on the grass outside and observe London from above! Amazing views from up here

    1. It was built approx. 350 years back in 1675, not for Astronomical research but for making Star Maps for marine Navigation. 2. Also has 4 variants of watches invented by Harrison which could tell correct time at Sea since pendulum works erratically due to ships movement at Sea, especially the Roll. 3. These watches were later miniaturized to make current pocket or hand watches. 4. Volunteer John delivered a great guided Tour, with good diction, knowledge and made it simple + humorous to understand.

Lots of interesting items to discover, especially different types of clocks in different period of times. Particularly like those clocks showing different time zones around the world, and even showing the day / night area.

A steep climb from Greenwich is rewarded by a visit to the Royal Greenwich Observatory, the Prime Meridian and the Greenwich Park Planetarium. The Observatory although small is packed full of the history of astronomy and the famous people that contributed so much to our present day knowledge. Greenwich is also the place of the Prime Meridian, where a small step will take you from the East to the Western Hemisphere. Standing astride the Meridian line is a popular photo opportunity.

Very interesting history about navigation and establishing GMT for worldwide coordination of times.

If you are visiting this place in winter, take in consideration that at 4 pm is already dark. However, a laser is available all night long, indicating the division. Park closes at 6 pm.

Post Covid 19 in August 2020, the park closes from 9PM. Beautiful park, lots of attractions and places to see inside. Watch out.. some you need to book to enter during covid19 πŸ˜‡πŸ˜¬ Definitely recommend stopping here after your visit from the Greenwich market.

Incredible place in all times of the year. The panoramic views of London are the best and arguably unrivalled by Primrose Hill. Hidden gem - the deer!
