Beautiful gardens. The original church was destroyed during the Great Fire of London. It is lovely how they kept some of the structure in place. The gardens are busy during the day, so if you want to see it empty, arrive before 9am.

⛪Hidden Gem between London Bridge and Tower of London⛪ After seeing the images here on Google reviews, I had to visit St. Dunstan in the East during my tour of London. The pictures really don't do it justice. There's a sacred quietude to this spot that must be experienced. The church was first built in Saxon times, then was partially destroyed during the blitz. The moment you step into the ruins, you can feel the history and heritage around you. It makes you want to pause from the hustle and bustle and just soak it in. Being off the main thoroughfare of traffic, you'll be able to do just that. Because it's an open-air interior, you can enjoy the breeze or eat lunch while sitting on the benches. It's usually populated by residents and tourists without feeling crowded--mostly as a place for people to relax, take breaks, and do some quiet work or reading. I consider it a must-see location for any visit to London (and photographers will have treat with the gorgeous architecture as well).

A very quaint and small church which has been destroyed by bombs in the 1940s. Left in ruins, there's now a garden, and public benches. You can still see the tombs and funeral stones, it is quiet and nice to have lunch at. A lovely break from the always moving London streets.

A beautiful and peaceful oasis of calm in the middle of a big noisy city. Work nearby and love going to this place. It's so relaxing, a great place to have lunch, plenty of benches. Plants and greenery to bring you back to nature.

Wow....One of the beautiful greenery place I visited in London recently. St Dunstan in the East Church Garden is a hidden gem in the heart of London. It's a haven of peace and tranquility, steeped in history and overflowing with natural beauty. The ruins of the church, dating back to the 12th century, stand as a testament to the city's resilience. They survived the Great Fire of London and the Blitz, only to be transformed into a stunning garden in the 1970s. The gardens are a feast for the senses. Lush greenery climbs over the ancient walls, vibrant flowers bloom in hidden corners, and a gentle fountain trickles in the center. It's a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and soak in the serenity. Whether you're seeking a quiet spot to read a book, enjoy a picnic lunch, or simply reflect on the city's rich history, St Dunstan in the East Church Garden is the perfect place to do it. It's a true oasis in the urban jungle, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting London. The garden is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM every day. You can find more information about it on the City of London website: https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/things-to-do/city-gardens/find-a-garden/st-dunstan-in-the-east-church-garden.

Such a beautiful little green space nestled in the busy city of London. The ruins of the church, large arch windows and the greenery draping the walls makes this place so beautiful. There are enough benches around the place which is great. You will also see many people coming for photo shoots. Overall, I had a lovely afternoon here and highly recommend this place.

This is a beautiful hidden spot in London. ‘St Dunstan in the east’ is haft way between Tower of London and London Bridge. Walkable to Monument station. This church was ruined in the second world war. You can come to read or have a little picnic. I’ve seen some people come and sit to have lunch break. Great city oasis.

Displace game like the scene in the Game of Thrones where the throne gets melted but it's pretty at the same time because it also reminds me of the sort of place that King Arthur and the nights at around table would sit. It's beautiful. I want to come here again and learn more about this place. I only came here briefly during one of my excursions on the men's walk and group talk.

St Dunstan in the East Church Garden is a great location for photographers. I've listed you below my top reasons: **A. Perfect amount of green for my editing.** The pavement and walls are white and grey, with a touch of beautiful ivy growing on its walls. This makes a perfect backdrop, a magical atmosphere with dark and moody spots. Just perfect for my editing style. **B. Small but beautiful location.** With lots of different areas to shoot, this location is great for family photos as it offers pose variety with different siting areas. I love using the windows and door arches and capturing photographs at a wide angle. **C. Easy transportation.** This photo location is great as it's within walking distance from the underground but also from the Great Northern Line, which is super handy for me as well as it's one train from Alexandra Palace, where I live. **D. It's dead quiet early morning at the weekend.** Being in busy Central London, this place is very popular with professionals as it offers a great place to relax if you need a short break from work, but it's also very popular with tourists and photographers. The first time I went to do some scouting in early summer, it was mid-week at the end of the day and it was packed with people and multiple photoshoots were happening. However, if you come in the first hour of their opening, this place is super quiet.

I came there to write some poetry, and it created a perfect setting. Even though it's in the middle of the city, it is magical - the birds were singing and the early-spring flowers blooming, making it a really pleasant environment.

Such a lovely quaint and picturesque church right in the middle of the city! You can take fantastic shots all over and around the church grounds. The lighting on a sunny day is also fantastic. Really relaxing place as well.

Such a beautiful place to visit. We were there early afternoon and the sun was hitting directly on the grass area at the front where there are lots of benches to sit. Great spot to relax for a bit or to eat some lunch. There were some people doing full on photoshoots/video shoots which was a bit distracting...

This is beautiful medieval gem hidden in the heart of London which all history buffs should see. Incredible piece of architecture with great story behind , very well preserved . These are just the remnants of once great building , nevertheless it kept its atmosphere so it is an amazing place to go to and relax between the walls and meditate . It is absolutely free to visit .

Beautiful and unexpected little pocket in London. Lots of squirrels and little birds. This “ruined” church is hauntingly beautiful. Small but I could definitely sit here and watch the world go past for a time. No restrooms. No tickets required.

A peaceful oasis in the middle of busy London. Breathtalking beautiful place. One of the most beautiful secret gardens in London is located among the ruins of a church on the way between London Bridge and the Tower. The church was destroyed during the Second World War. Here you can sit quietly by the fountain surrounded by the beautiful ruins of an old Gothic church, take photos and feed the squirrels and birds. This ruined church with a garden is breathtakingly beautiful. There are no toilets here. No tickets required. I recommend watching!

A small haven of peace in it's own little time warp set amongst the skyscrapers of the metropolis. What struck me most on my visit here is just how popular it is with couples coming to do photographs of each other framed within the arches of what would previously have housed stained glass windows. Benches provided around the garden for you to rest a while.

A hidden gem, a relic from the past hidden in between skyscrapers. It's open to the public, and easy to walk around to enjoy the history and the view. You'll see squirrels running.

It's one of my favourite places in London and I guess they shot a scene I really like from the movie Ever after: a cinderella story there. If you find it don't miss the chance to see it. PS: if you want some wedding photos that is the place to be😉

HIDDEM GEM ALERT! This is a historic church that suffered damage during the Great Fire of London in 1666. St. Dunstan in the East offers a unique opportunity to appreciate both the historical and natural elements of the site. The best time to visit is early mornings and golden hour (the hour before sunset) can provide beautiful lighting conditions for capturing the ruins and garden in a captivating way. It's located near the famous 'Sky Garden' so you can combine these two together. Have fun!

Lovely church ruins in the middle of the city. It is a beautiful and peaceful place in all season but be aware that there are lots of Instagramers all the time posing for selfies. The ruins are walking distance from Monument tube station. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful & historical spot in central London. Only few min from Tower Gate you’ll find a breathtaking walls of the church build in 1660! You can still admire the beauty of architecture and how the nature got around it, simple pleasure of exploring the city.

Would be 5 stars if it wasn’t so busy and riddled with people not only taking selfies but having actual photo set ups in costume 🙄. Such things should be done on allocated times so that it could be a little more peaceful. Go in the right time and it may be quite lovely, but otherwise it’s best to stay away unless you want to be annoyed.

We found this place accidentally while walking toward the Minster Building, and we were kind of floored by how cool and beautiful it is. For being a pretty small space, you kind of feel like you're taken out of the city for a moment while you're in there. It feels like a quiet and relaxing escape.

Some ruins in the heart of London. Nice to see all the plants here and it is a quiet place to come away from the hussle and bustle of London life. Probably is better on a sunny day, was unfortunately raining when I came.

A small hidden corner near the city of London and Sky Garden. A ruined church overgrown with vines, it has a tiny fountain in the middle surrounded by benches. Very photo-worthy, peaceful and quiet. Just be aware of people wanting to take pics of the arches and gateways.

This is easily one of my favorite monuments to stop by in London! St Dunstab provides a plethora of things — architectural interest, historical treasure and for my instagram girkies, a unique background for your pictures. To think that this (originally built almost a 1000yrs ago) remained from both the London fire and a bombing in 1941 is remarkable. You can walk the perimeter of it all in easily 5-10mins but you can sit on the benches provided to soak in the history that lives through these walls. My only recommendation, if you can, is to see it in all the seasons!

Cute little atypical garden in the center of London, but not so close to the biggest attractions. A real little haven of calm nature in the middle of the excitement of the capital, if you have time.

A very secret garden! Varied with trees and so quiet and has a unique soul. A very lovely garden to relax in the middle of busy London. And great for photo shooting, It was restored by St Dunstan in 950 AD and then rebuilt after the Great Fire in 1697.

Great peaceful place in the city of London to have a sandwich and a coffee. The church is a ruin that’s been left to nature growing through the stone work and a garden created inside it with benches to sit. Also a good photo shoot location - looks like something out of CS Lewis’s Narnia!

Absolutely wonderful garden nestled away from the busy roads of the City of London. An excellent location for an energising lunch break, a coffee with friends, a romantic date or a wedding photoshoot. It is also a great example of a very British way of integrating the old with the new and nature with man made structures. It's one of the most beautiful corners of London and a fantastic, hidden gem, definitely worth exploring.

Nice setting in the City. Church ruins with a little garden. It was a bit empty now in March but I am sure it is pretty in the summer with green trees & flowers. A nice place to sit an sip your coffee.

This is not the usual place for tourists. This Is a magical place, where the ruin of a wren Church make the busy time of the city stops. You can find it not far from Bank station. I've visited at lunch time on Tuesday and was not crowded at all. There are brnches where you can enjoy a quick lunch. Also very keen for a photo shooting, just pick a sunny day and the light will be wonderful. A little but very nice fountain make the perfect sound to relax and popping you out from the kaos of the traffic. Perfect place for a first appointment, very romantic. The energy is incredibly powerful, is an oasis of peace. Must see in London!

This garden in the church ruins of St. Dunstan-in-the-East feels like a lost place in the centre of London. It lies a bit off the beaten path and is not overcrowded with tourist. The setting is just gorgeous and it is very worth a visit. The benches are great to sit and to enjoy the atmosphere. The church windows with the green trees behind make a wonderful picture background and look like they could be from a fantasy tale or Lord of the Rings. The garden is not very large and entrance is free. Worth a visit.

At only a couple 100m distance of the crowded tower of London, lies this beauty. It is not more than the burned ruins of a church, but it breaths an unmatched athmosphere, go here to relax and enjoy the tranquility. It is also a nice spot to take wedding pictures it seemed. 😊

St Dunstan in the East Church Garden is a truly unique space set within the ruins of a Wren church, nestled in the city of London. The remaining church walls and window frames are home to draping plants, vines and trees for a truly magical/mystical vibe. The Church of St Dunstan was originally built around 1100 and was severely damaged in 1666 by the Great Fire of London. The Church was damaged again in the Blitz of 1941. In 1967 the City of London decided to turn the remains into a public garden, which opened in 1970. It is an easy walk from Monument or Tower Hill stations.
