Well, a lot happened in two and a half year. Hardly any shops the place is dismal. It needs money to be injected into the centre and get back the businesses or maybe lower the rates so the owners will have a chance. Croydon has just gone downhill and it's a shame.

Huge shopping mall. There are quite a number of decent retail outlets, however not many eateries to choose from. We think Croydon as a shopping destination overall is abysmal ..where is the buzz of previous years? Post-Covid and the area looks worse, run down, lower footfall, many shops are boarded up. Croydon is Whitgift and Centrale – the beating hearts of what used to be the beating hearts of this area. You could measure the pulse of the area by going and shopping there. Nowadays they’re nothing more than a convenient shortcut route from the tram stop to the other side of town

Once upon a time a thriving shopping centre but now a ghost town. Most shops have closed down including TopShop, H&M, however Superdry has managed to survive. 31/12/22 Even more shops and stores have closed since I first posted the review

Very welcoming, spacious,Maxy surveillance, kindly, friendly environment, double entrance from 2 opposite roads (front and back) vote from 0 to 10 it will be definitely 9....full of shops, with notorious brands.Inside Centrale itself was not bad as it still has some good retail outlets but Croydon overall as a shopping experience has really gone down in my estimation.

At first glance, Centrale may appear to be a small building , but upon closer inspection, it is a massive shopping center with an array of shops from renowned designers like House of Fraser and more. I had a wonderful time exploring the many stores, although the sheer size of the place meant that I could only cover about 60% of it. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Centrale for a shopping experience like no other.

Shame that the plans for Westfield's have been scrapped. Leaving a once lively shopping centre turn into a desserted place with many shops closed. I give it a couple of stars since there is still some life in place till plans can push forward from further investment in a major scale. Worth visiting and support to Centrale of Croydon.

There are two shopping centres in Croydon, Centrale Shopping Centre and Whitgift. Centrale Shopping Centre is nice and spacious and houses House of Fraser, H&M etc. On the second floor, there are some eateries. The best thing about this mall is that they have lots of seating for people to have a rest.

A former shadow of itself. Most of the best high St flagship stores are vacant now. lots of shops are closed. Hopefully they can rejuvenate the area with better investment.

Nice, spacious, fairly modern shopping centre, with lots of shops and a café or two. Clean and tidy. Everything you need under one roof it seems, and a lot better than the Whitgift Centre next door.

Not the greatest shopping centre, still many units from opening day of Centrale which are empty. House of Fraser is the anchor shop now and since Debenhams has closed the place has gone downhill. My wife enjoys going to Zara. Croydon Council to blame for the deterioration of Croydon Town Centre over the last 15 years.

Great centre. Unfortunately alot of shops have shut down. The place is still kept clean, the car park is the best amongst many that surround it and the security is fine. Its got many of the big shops at easy access as soon as u step out of the arcade.

Brilliant gem of a shopping centre in the heart of Croydon. Car park was £4.00 for a hours parking which is a rip off but is clean and secure. House of Fraser department store has great selection and ultra friendly and engaged staff. One of my favourite places to shop, period.

The central shopping area is a place everyone would like to be because it is the center of attraction here. .So many things muddled into one. All the stores, all the people, all the goods and some of the bad I would say. There were entertainers of various kinds and people trying to make you buy from them. And indeed, smiles on the faces of the people going by reminded me of the song of Louis Armstrong. What a wonderful world indeed; I thought as I walked into one of the stores.

Absolutely disgraceful what the council has done in relation to moving forward with the proposed shopping centre and to the shopping experience in the area. Croydon town centre is now like a scene from the Walking Dead! Avoid at all cost until something changes!

Clean, light, and airy but somehow lacking in character. A good selection of shops despite a lot of vacant premises.

  • 4/5 gary s. 2 months ago on Google • 40 reviews New
You can still pick up some good items there. I hope the Council can work in partnership with a commercial organisation and get this shopping centre back on track.

  • 4/5 Howard P. 2 years ago on Google
Blinding . 2 busiest places, the covid vaccine, that's where where I went and the covid test centre. The shopping centre is clean and tidy

  • 4/5 ameelia r. 9 months ago on Google
Primark is still a place to find a bargain, but many things are pricey and can be bought from other stores for less costs. I only buy things that are reduced. Sam store next to Argos in Church Street is great with many things of good quality and less price tags .

  • 1/5 Nelly M. 10 months ago on Google
Croydon Council should just be ashamed. They've decimated the Croydon high street and pushed everyone out with rent hikes. The shopping centre used to be a treat to visit. Bustling with foot traffic, buskers and food markets now all that remains is a slew of homeless people, pound stores and boarded up shops. The only supermarket in town is about to shut despite there not being an adequate replacement. Disgrace

  • 2/5 Angiestrategy M. 10 months ago on Google
It's a shame really. Nice interior but hardly any shops open. Best thing is the House of Fraser but even that is looking a bit tired. The whole centre needs a trade boost.

  • 2/5 Chris H. 11 months ago on Google
Shadow of its former self with seemingly most shops shut. House of Fraser seems to be by far the best thing here. Still a nice shopping centre but is a ghost town.

  • 3/5 shashvat s. 10 months ago on Google
Looks dead place these days...most shops are closed. Only Starbucks and some other cafes are good. House of Fraser also does not have good selection like they did few years ago.

  • 5/5 Emilia B. 1 year ago on Google
I like this mall! Sad to see some shops shutting down. I hope it survives. Btw. I really wish both Centrale and Withgift were open at least until 7 pm. Many living in Croydon commute elsewhere to work, and it would be nice to pop in when on my way home but it is all closed for the day by the time I am in the area. I guess the earnings wouldn't sustain paying staff covering the longer hours.

  • 3/5 Israr A. 1 year ago on Google
Sad to see this once upon a time this mall on e rather busy however, now slowly emptying out. Same old stores and those who have come in I feel for them.

In the words of 'The Clash' "This town is becoming like a Ghost Town." Centrale, not really worth visiting much. Croydon Town centre in General are mostly boarded up shops and the mandatory fast food restaurant and coffee shops. Sad, but true that evidence of bankrupt council can be seen everyone. Too much violence also...

  • 5/5 Alan L. 1 year ago on Google
Parking was easy, although I did get there early (9:45am). The shops were good, toilets clean, plenty of places to get a drink. My main reason for visiting was to get a COVID booster and that went well too (no queues at all).

  • 4/5 Victoria S. 2 years ago on Google
Clean. Kept to covid rules. Various shops now open. Shame about the second half of the centre, where more shops are closed down.

  • 1/5 Tom R. 1 year ago on Google
Croydon Town Centre is an absolute dump and totally run down. Streets strewn with rubbish due to overflowing litter bins. Subways stinking of stale urine and covered with vomit. Centrale also ripped me off for £5 parking when I overstayed for a minute should have cost me £2.50. Not worth a visit there are much nicer shopping centres in the locality like Bromley for instance...

  • 3/5 Oh_Hii'mHelen 3 years ago on Google
Centrale Centre usually isn't as packed with people or with stores as Whitgift centre is. But during this pandemic if you want to be away from crowded places or people, this centre would be ideal for you but remember there isn't many stores in here too so you may exit out without realising that's the end of the tour. Check online for what stores are available these days, it may be a little confusing finding your stores which used to be there but are now gone.

  • 3/5 sheila m. 7 months ago on Google
Croydon is under reconstruction due to gentrification alot of the old school stores have gone however M&S and House of Frazier have remained there is also Shoeholic large Primark and Next outlet. There are some nuggets to found within these stores. Plenty urban female and male clothing popup stores. Price range is moderate.

  • 2/5 Stephen-James Jones (. 2 years ago on Google
This place tried to be better than anything else in Croydon. It failed from the start. Most of the original good shops went years ago and now its an insult to shopping centres. The car parking is outrageous for cost, lifts out of order, escalators closed, sections closed off, and shops I've never heard of. Centrale needs to lower its own sense of importance. Its a shopping centre in a town centre. It's not Blue water.

Not so bad. Big and loaded with a lot of stores to shop in. Kind of rough outside with a lot of smokers. So wear your nose mask if you are not a smoker.

  • 3/5 Lex L. 2 years ago on Google
A centre that somehow manages to feel a bit depressing despite being light and open. Lots of shops, but the layout means that it is hard to get an overview or find anything, with small maps inexplicably only at each end of each floor, with nothing in between (although this could have been bad looking by me, but you really shouldn't have to search!). Still, handy for a number of NHS places (vaccination/blood donation), which have set up in what would otherwise be vacant shop units. And a fun giant spiral to get up and down to the car park (if you can find it).

  • 4/5 Justnara Z. 2 years ago on Google

I believe that as a result of the pandemic, many stores closed, but it is a very clean and cozy mall. I would add more food options in this space as well.

  • 4/5 Adenike E. 8 months ago on Google
The atmosphere was great as there are unique shops, restaurant and activities for children to engage in. However there is a restaurant l will never visit again. It is called Busara. The rice l ordered was chewy and tasteless. The bread crumbled chicken was over cooked and tough. I returned the dish but refused to order anything else. My friend also found the meal she ordered below standard with the portion size inadequate.

  • 3/5 Lloyd P. 7 months ago on Google
Sadly as the Westfield re development is effectively cancelled, COVID, and the Croydon bankruptcy (bad management) the state of general untidiness, litter, unsavoury types loitering, closed/derelict stores and to top it off the whole anti car stance (£6.5 minimum parking fee). Shopping here is far from an enjoyable experience, nothing like it was 10 years ago. If you need to shop, it's better than nothing, but that's hardly high praise.

  • 3/5 Jay “Nspired2014” D. 7 months ago on Google
Inside Centrale itself was not bad as it still has some good retail outlets but Croydon overall as a shopping experience has really gone down in my estimation. Its the first time visiting since Covid and the area looks run down, shops are boarded up. It's just really changed.

Centrale is generally clean and nice to look at but it lacks decent shops and seems empty where so much can be done to bring it to life. Sadly it will head the same way the Whitgift has.

It's a shame most of the shops have closed and now l heard the redevelopment for a Westfield shopping centre has been put on hold 😕 this is not good for the business or community in general as apart from the development bringing in much needed jobs to the local area, we hardly have any decent shops to shop in and have to travel elsewhere when we could be helping traders in our own community if we had the shops. It's been 10/12 yrs since we first heard about the redevelopment in Croydon and sadly after all this time still no start in sight.

  • 4/5 George A. 2 years ago on Google
Still some useful shops here with a House of Fraser and Sports Direct to name a couple. But since the redevelopment of the Whitgift centre across the road was mothballed, the range of shops has become more limited overall. Having said that, there are some worth visiting in here and there are still plenty outside and more (though dwindling) in the Whitgift across the road. There are still some stalls in Surrey Street market on market days and more shops in surrounding streets. So when taken together with the other facilities locally...Still worth visiting. And Centrale Car park is still the best value multi story Cark Park locally.

This grotto is TERRIBLE. There were so few of us in the queue but we had to wait 35 minutes and then once inside it was exactly the same decor as outside. Nothing magical, no lights or anything that made it look like a grotto. Then we were told in the Santa room.that we were not allowed to take photos and that it said so on the website. We bought our tickets at the entrance. Nothing on the ticket said no photos. But they wanted to charge you extra for a professional photo. The present was terrible too. A plastic mug that you can insert a painted picture in for the five year old and a cardboard jigsaw for the three year old. It was not fun and I think the kids had much more fun going up and down escalators and looking at the views and the decorations in Centrale and sitting on the Octonauts ships. Don’t waste your money on this.

Used to be a decent spot for shopping but the years have not been kind to Croydon in general an it's slowly becoming a ghost town. Looking very run down, homeless people on the increase, Loads of shops have been shutting on the high street an I feel it's only a matter of time before it effects other retailers, High street or shopping centres for Croydon.

Very poor nothing there, Needs money put into the whole area.. sorry to say won’t be back unless something is done to improve it like a whole new shopping centre. It’s a shame how our council have let Croydon deteriorate it use to be a great place to shop.

It used to be good but so many shops closed down. Also Croydon itself is horrible. It looks like a ghetto really run down and aggressive Shaniqua types everywhere.

I like going here for 2 reasons one being I cycle from north London which I enjoy and its excellent exercise for me and the fact I love to ride any where and secondly there's reasonable prices for certain items to purchase. The location I seem to be drawn maybe because my parents dated here do maybe for me it feels ok and linking here by transport is convenient. So I give the thumbs up for this location lots of shops main one's aswell m&s next and many more..!!

I don't usually go to Central shopping centre. As I don't live in Croydon. The main reason I go there is to volunteer at the vaccination center. But they do have great shops which are worth a visit. Sadly I don't get much time to do that.

Thanks to the NHS Vaccination staff and volunteers for the fantastic operation they have set up in Centrale. Friendly, well organised and safe. My third trip their for my booster just went to ingeminate how impressive this is and how grateful I am to all involved.

Visited the walk in centre for covid-19 booster vaccination, no waiting friendly, informative medical staff - a cuppa and biscuits during the 15min sitting would have been perfect!

  • 1/5 Daniel M. 2 years ago on Google
Like most of Croydon it's gone totally down hill closed shops everywhere in centrale for more stars I think it needs redeveloping or change of use to indoor go kart track or nightclub, something like that. The high street needs to evolve with a few little boutique shops where you cannot buy the stock online

Could do with a bit more lighting and modernism... May be someone from Hammerson group will read this do something about it... Instead if Debenhams it has a Next Outlet on the ground floor... And a Sports Direct, House of Fraser, normal Next, a Zara, Blu Inc the only one in South London... And so some jewellery shops, Superdrug, The Fragrance shop, café... Aldo was there but closed recently...

Car parking is super expensive, £3.70 for 40 mins is extreme. Centrale has very few shops in now and lots of empty units so not a good shopping experience. The opening hours are really poor Mon-Fri too. I really want to support my local town centre, but online shopping is much cheaper and a much better experience sadly.

Much like Whitgift Centre visited at same time it is amazing how many outlets have never been taken up or have closed now due to the pandemic. Possibly also ridiculous price of rents doesn't help. Oh & by the way this picture is of the Whitgift Centre & not Centrale Shopping Centre!
