Decent hostel, good for one nights stay. I had a 8 bed dorm, beds were comfy but quite narrow. St Pauls bells rang every 15 minutes even during the night! Service and location were excellent, but only good for 1-2 nights

bed bugs, the building is wrapped in foil so it is very warm in the small, rancid rooms, the showers make you claustrophobic and the canteen stinks like puke Thank you for nothing

Food was simply diabolical Staff were unpleasant and had very limited communication skills Far from accesible Beds like a rock Pillows like a rock No secure storage A mouse says a lot Radiators didn't work Kept up all night by the bells of St Paul's An utter hovel, the worst place I've ever had the displeasure I'd staying at. Thanks

Good location, right by St Paul's Cathedral and a five minutes walk from three tube lines. The facilities however are old and dated. There is construction and repair being done all over, rooms and common areas are dirty and so are the bathrooms. On a calm street in the middle of a very busy area. Helpful staff and reasonable prices for London and that area.

As a disabled person who made their requests in writing in ample time for them to be actioned to the email address provided in the pre-arrival email to be told on arrival that I didn't contact them, and to be shouted at by a member of staff (Fathama I believe h Lloyder name was) because I didn't call, to have to wait on the goodwill of other guests to have an accessible bed, to be crying in humiliation in the reception fearful to move incase I'm ignored and left homeless for the night, I can not recommend this hostel to anyone who may have greater needs than somewhere to place their head at night. The handling of this post stay has been very poor also, the hostel again washed their hands of this, telling me they're not accessible (the EA says its for the disabled person to say what their access needs are) so why book there, the manager instead of listening to my concerns decides to lecture me and failed to take on board my concerns. Overall a very poor service and very poor pastoral support

Overall, a good hostel in an excellent location. Just be aware that after a wild Saturday night out, you'll get a wakeup call that even the most potent coffee can't compete with – the relentless 30-minute Sunday service bells of St. Paul's. If hangovers could sue, this would be their courtroom. So, if you're up for an early morning concert courtesy of history's loudest alarm clock, book a bed here.

Mold/spew, carpet stains, cigarette burns, dirty bedding, bugs, no WiFi, smell, extra charge for towels etc. Room 19 on September 22nd repulsive environment for a school trip absolutely disgraceful. We did not sleep because of the horrendous conditions good luck if you plan to visit this accommodation xx

nice place great location down side is the shower i used was broken and only let out boiling hot water or freezing cold so it was not a enjoyable shower all also the cleanliness in the showers and toilet not being perfect despite this i would definitely stay again as it was great value in a superb location

Does what it says on the tin! Really helpful and friendly staff. Private room for three people was slightly smaller than expected but it wasn’t really an issue when only staying for one night. Be aware that the chimes from St Paul’s can be heard throughout the night so definitely bring earplugs or pick some up from reception!

Not bad for a youth hostel. I booked a two-bed private room for my friend and myself to split. It was comfortable enough, and it was nice having a wash sink in the room so that we didn't need to go to the shared toilets every time we needed a sink. The beds had built-in power outlets, however they didn't really work well. We ended up using the wall outlets to charge our electronics. We were also right next to the showers but one of them was out of order. The toilets were at the end of the hall but one of them was out of order as well, so I ended up needing to wait for one to become available a couple times. It wasn't too noisy considering we were facing a busy street and some people complain about the bells coming from St. Paul's being distracting as they ring essentially every 15 minutes, but I got used to it pretty quickly and was able to sleep just fine. Wifi is only available in the shared spaces and not the rooms, so that might be difficult for people who rely on wifi connection. We didn't take advantage of their breakfast offerings, though they seem to have a nice variety of hot and cold food to choose from. They even seemed to have a couple vegan items that I could have eaten, but I wasn't going to pay nearly £10 just to only eat like two items. Check in and check out were easy.

Clean, round the clock reception, decent beds, nice location, wifi didn't reach the room very well, pay for towels, windows are not very sound proof and allow in lots of street noise

Really happy with my 7D6N stay here, eventhough the hostel is not as modern as other hostels I’ve stayed in. The staffs were excellent. Always happy to help you and answer all the questions you have. They only have one shower room each at two of the floors I went to, which initially made me worried. But I never had to queue to shower, and it’s always kept in clean condition. The bells of St Paul’s does ring often, but wasn’t loud enough to disrupt your rest. I never needed earbuds. They have two options for breakfast: English breakfast and the continental menus ie. cereals, croissants, etc. The English breakfast was always delicious and helps to keep you full while exploring London. Location was good, only a few minutes walk to the bus stop and underground. To St Pancras was just 10 minutes which was important to me as I depart/arrive in London there. It was near to some of the places I want to go to ie. Tate Modern, Shakespeare’s Globe and St Paul’s of course, and to other places around 30 minutes by public transport which makes sense to me because London is huge. Downsides as I mentioned, not as modern as other hostels ie. Wombat’s, but YHA makes up for it in all the other aspects. I’ve stayed at Wombat’s hostels in Vienna and Budapest, so from what I read through the reviews, they have the same issues ie. stuffy rooms, need to make your own bed, too simple choice of breakfast and it was also the highly expensive compared to other hostels. For the price Wombat’s is charging, I would expect a level of service similar (or better) than YHA. I would definitely stay at this hostel or their other locations next time I’m in London.

Stayed over night with a school group. The staff were friendly and helpful through out. Food was good, especially breakfast. Rooms were clean and comfy, facilities were close by and all clean.

Basic hostel that is having some refurbishment done to the exterior of the building. The interior needs some work too - the bathroom felt like a hospital wet room. The bed was comfy though. Friendly staff. The water refill station didn’t work - the water was warm !! There was cold water in the breakfast buffet - but this tasted tainted by plastic. Value was good though.

The best hostel I have stayed in London. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Rooms are big, comfortable and clean. There is also an option for English and continental breakfast. Hostel is situated in a very convenient location in the centre of London, close to everything. I forgot a phone in the room and the staff returned to me when I came back, they have put it in the safe place for me. Very kind of them! Thank you again! I will definetly come back.

The place is good for a group night stay, it has got decent dorm style bed. Considering the location, the accommodation pricing is cheap! Located in an idle place, from where you got access to almost all great places to visit in London.

St. Paul's is an ideal place to stay for solo travellers and families/groups. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well-appointed, the breakfast is varied and of high quality. The dining room encourages people to converse and the TV room contains a pretty good selection of games and books. The reception staff were very helpful and very knowledgeable. This was my second visit and I love the location; the history and architecture of the area is extremely interesting.

very basic hostel but EXTREMELY clean.. Friendly staff. My dorm had toilet and shower on the corridor but sinks in the room. There are lockers in the room that need padlocks. It was very hard to find the place as they dont have a big sign. Had a direct view on St Pauls and the Barbican from my bed :-) St Paul is only 10 meters away and rings bells all night long so bring earplugs.

Cheap for spending a night in London centre. Don't forget your earplugs, you will definitely need thema. A lot of noise during the night because of the thin windows

Yes I came here with school over all nice staff and quite clean the shower wasn’t working the best bus as soon as the staff were informed they fixed it. The toilets were basic but did the job. The rooms were all good sized the only down said was it was really hot it was 28 degrees outside and I would say around 32 in our room and we got given a broken fan. The food was ok good options. They had a vending machine to location was good right close to a main road with some shops you could also here Big Ben every 15 mins

Staff were amazing, friendly and couldn't do enough to help. My two sons really enjoyed the stay. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. Perfect place for the three of us to stay for the night in central London.

Like this place. Obviously amazing location. Some people don’t like the noise from bells of St Pauls but to me it adds a bit of culture! Room experience can be a lottery - sometimes on your own in big room, sometimes with 6 other rather smelly chaps in a blazing hot room. In general this place is great - and for the cost there is nothing else that can even come close. The lounge area is actually a nice space to read or watch tv and have a drink before retiring to the ‘bunk’.

It was my first experience at a hostel and I've really enjoyed the place. Staff are kind and amenable, especially Leigh and Kess, so such friendly people (thanks for the jacuzzi!). The bedrooms are clean and large enough when you only want a good night's sleep after such filled and energetic days walking by London. Breakfast is tasty, varied and cheap. All in the hostel is neat and nice. It was a really good stay in there.

Great location and very helpful staff. it's an affordable place to stay if you're on a budget. The only complaint is how easy it was to hear everyone in the building. I am a light sleeper and had trouble staying asleep. All in all, I did enjoy my visit. A good central location for the frugal traveller.

Hostel located near St. Paul's, close to subways, river and half an hour's walk from Trafalgar Square. Clean and basic rooms, we had a sink in the room as well as shared toilets and showers, always clean. Delightful staff, always available (24 hours a day). Paid breakfast purchased at the time of booking, really good and open (sausages including veg, eggs, bacon, beans, brioches, yogurt, jams, tea, coffee and fruit juices at will). We will definitely be back!

The concept of the hostel is for big groups, the location by itself doesn't organize pub crawls or tours or at least I didn't see them. I put 3 stars because the restrooms can improve. The personnel is friendly and professional, the location is not bad, they just need to focus more on individual guests. Breakfast is in a typical hostel fashion, nothing special (not the guilty of the folks in the kitchen). If you are staying here, many free attractions will be available appart from ten! Cheaper prices at the front desk for attractions and some people from England staying here for one night or two (in case meeting them is on your top priorities).

My favourite London hostel and as always in any YHA, the room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfy and the ambience was friendly. I booked a few days in advance and found a bargain, so treated myself to a private room for 2 nights. This place has character and you get to tell the time by listening out for the cathedral bells. The only downside is the lack of a kitchen for guests to use. The carrot cake on the coffee and cake deal was delicious. I'll be back!

Nice hostel. Rooms are clean as well as the building. Some may think are small, but you just have the necessary for sleeping after a long day in London. Beds have each a lamp and usb connectors for charging, so don't worry about adapters. Breakfast is really good and tasty, you can have a variety of things to choose and for sure you won't be hungry in a while. Staff are really nice, they let you leave your things in the storage room if you arrive before check-in. The location is good for visiting the cathedral, although if you want to visit the Big Ben or Buckingham Palace, those are far away, but there is a metro station really close so it is not a problem to go directly to those places.

My friend and I stayed here for two nights and we weren’t let down! The rooms were nice, however the beds were very squeaky an uncomfortable. The bathrooms did not work very well but I did not personally run into any issues. Our biggest issue was that the place didn’t have a fridge or kitchen which would have been very useful. This also definitely isn’t a hostel to meet people at, there were many families and few teens. I was also kept up at night by the church bells and random yelling / noises on the street. I understand this isn’t controllable by the hostel but we had to keep the windows open because there’s was no fans, hence the louder noises. Despite all of this, the hostel was quite nice and I was pleasantly surprised.

Not bad for a youth hostel, the service was great, and they accommodated our large group of 44 people. My family of eight had our own private bedroom, but we did share a bathroom which didn’t seem to be a problem. The place is relatively clean for a hostel. Best part about this was the location, you cannot beat the location of this hostel! We enjoyed several evenings sitting on the steps of Saint Paul before we returned for the evening to bed.

This historic building is full of life in this hostel. The accommodation is very comfortable. The ablutions were very clean and trustworthy. And the food... I think the only spared luxury in a hotel is a single bed room. If you want a real London adventure, then why not stay in a hostel from which you can see St Paul's Cathedral and a short walk away from major attractions.

  • 5/5 Ana M. 1 year ago on Google
Super convenient location where you can navigate London easily. It is a very old building so they didn’t have a lift which was rough with big luggage. The staff were so kind and helpful! Facilities were clean. I felt safe. Would for sure recommend.

If you're a traveler seeking an affordable and sociable place to stay in London, NX London Hostel is a solid choice. While it may lack some frills, the overall experience is positive, especially for those prioritizing a vibrant communal atmosphere over luxury amenities, free breakfast.
