This place and the manager plus night receptionist are the worst. Look at how she answers to the people writing here reviews and giving bad reviews. She pretends we are all crazy. This place could be much better without Paula the Italian woman. She is searching for fights with the people who stay here, keeps your deposit without reason. She is a person none can get along and the big question is why she is still there. The place is not worth a penny. Rooms tiny, elevator not working, food is awful and mice in the building. They take advantage of people who work there giving them the worst rooms and using them as free labour. I recommend you not to stay here, rooms are tiny and awful, run down place, ride staff. I am just waiting for her answer now saying some fake stuff about me or others. Blame the victims, that's the only thing this awful management can do

This is a terrible place, the managers are rude and don't help you. The lift never works and is dangerous. The food is appalling and doesn't adapt for certain diets. If u have the rooms next to the street and someone is smoking outside and the smell come in side the room they'll kick you out also if it's not your fault, the shower is terrible and the toilets are not clean. And I spend a lot of money life there and u can't have any privacy. The good thing is just because u are in Victoria, and this is the one and only reason why I'm in this hostel from 2 years.

Long story short- you get what you pay for. While the core staff/management here are all cordial and decent, it's clear that most of the staff are poorly trained volunteers. The food made me sick several times despite me having no allergies. The showers either didn't drain, wouldn't turn on, or had only very cold water. Beds are comfortable, but you must wash your sheets yourself if you are staying long-term. Housekeepers either stole or threw away a shopping bag filled with over Β£50 worth of souvenirs and mementos that I had placed near my bedside table. No cooking facilities other than a kettle and microwaves in the cellar. It's clear that the management are trying to do as much as possible with limited funding, and the residents are suffering despite their best efforts. I understand that the building is historic, but it's still too far. The photo attached is of chunks of the ceiling that fell down in the stairwell. The best part about Holland House is the proximity to Victoria Station and thus Victoria Place, which has a Sainsbury's and other shops open later than most.

I can't describe how AWFUL my experience in this hostel was. The manager, PAOLA FERRANTE (I want everyone to know her name) was one of the worst people I ever met, can only be compared to his assistant, EZZIO. I was kicked out because theoretically I jumped from my window... I lived in the fourth floor, the only reason I was kicked out was XENOPHOBIA. I had some terrible experiences, like when a friend of mine was dizzy and passed out and Paola didn't allow us to call the ambulance for no reason, or when we found the "chef" drunk and lying on the street with his head bleeding. I am really glad they finally closed this place down, and I can't do anything but Hope nobody has to go through what I went in this place.

This hostel is one of the worst I have stayed in, I have travelled near and far and stayed in many of hostels but unfortunately I'm not happy with this one, the receptionist wasn't welcoming looked fed up, my room was on the 3rd floor to which I had no idea how to get to it's not clear on where you have to go to get to your room or in fact anywhere else because every door is grey with no signs, my room smelt funny to me and someone is definitely living there on a permanent basis which made me feel like I was staying in someones bedroom at their house, there was clothes everywhere piled up in the middle of the room, the cleanest part of the room is the ceiling and lampshade, the bathroom could be a lot cleaner. Basically this place could do a whole lot better if they paid some attention to the issues.

Hi, I see the Holland House has improved it's service and quality standards post arriving of new management as compared to my earlier stay here. The new manager is decisive and compassionate in her actions. Hopefully food services will improve in near future I am counting on it. Overall I am at peace but certainly there's scope for betterment. I wish the management good luck for future. Good to stay here. Thanks

Dear Holland House, I stayed with you for a long time until the corona crisis. I can say it was great! The atmosphere is cozy, homely and I have always felt safe. Both young students and older people live in HH, which gives a nice diversity. The rooms are good, the beds are okay. There is a handy washing system that can be operated via an app so you can see how long the washing will take. Very cool! Breakfast and dinner is included. Michael's food was always good, different and I got enough of what I needed. Don't expect delights. It is very nice to come home from work / study and to have dinner afterwards. About the team: The volunteers who work there are always friendly, cleaning rooms could be better. Paula (Manager) is great! She always helped me with everything and is a good hostess. The thing I would like to change for a 5 star rating: - New showers, I never showered in HH (unfortunately always in the gym next door.) The showers are really dirty and damp! I would like to pay 5 pounds more a week to fix this ... It takes away the whole feeling of 'home'. Can't wait to come back! :-)

I have been working here five months before I had to go. The building is old and the rooms are basic. It's hard to find a shower that actually works. The toilets are dirty, and the " food " is poor, without quality or diversity. The menu rarely changes week by week, and they don't take into consideration people's dietary needs. The mattresses are quite old and thewl windows need to be updated. It's also somewhat common to see mice in the building, especially in the basement where I lived. The lift is small, fitting a maximum of three people if you were to squeeze, or two people plus luggage. However, sometimes the lift doesn't even works because It breaks down. After all of that, the worst part of this hostel is the house manager. You can expect absolutly no help,Β  from her, and in the rare case that she does help, she is always cold and unbind with her words and demeanor. She is completly unreasonable and difficult to reason with. The only good thing about Holand House is it's location close to Victoria Station.

A hostel/hotel with an offering that is way below the BARE MINIMUM. THE GOOD - Let me first start stating some of the positive points for the hostel/hotel: 1. Location: The hostel is located in one of the high-tier zones in London. The price charged for a (long-term) stay is affordable compared to the location where the hotel is. Also, its proximity (a 3-5 minute walk) to the Victoria Station is a plus point. 2. The Staff: During my (approx 9 month) stay I found the staff (house manager/ general manager and other full-time staff) to be friendly and helpful. I did not have any negative experiences with any of the staff members and they were/are quite prominent in hearing out any complaints the guests have during their stay and work on a solution. NEUTRAL STUFF: There are some things that are neither good nor bad. They get the job done. (I am not expecting any medium/high level provisions at this price point. If I pay an affordable(I mean cheaper than the competition) price I expect some BASIC things/ provisions for a positive stay experience) 1. The Rooms: I have been staying in a twin male room and have changed my room just once during my stay. As for the rooms themselves, they are clean and good. Each room has a bed, a closet, an organiser (ummm a small wooden compartment thingy beside the bed with two small drawer storage spaces), a tiny yet serviceable refrigeration unit and a small wash basin with a provision for hot and cold water. 2. General Hygiene: The premises are kept clean most of the time. The toilets and showers are cleaned twice a day. But due to a high influx of guests the public areas generally tend to get dirty real quick. But the management is not at fault here as they are trying their best to keep the public areas (toilets + showers) clean. 3. Catered: The hostel offers an early morning breakfast and a lunch service (during the weekdays) or a dinner service (during the weekends). I have not used the service much but it is a good thing to have. THE BAD: The central water/plumbing system?? This hostel has a huge water issue and by huge I mean really HUGE. The 4th (the floor where I stay) and the 3rd floor is the worst affected by this. My initial first month was good as everything (minimal things like tap water [hot/cold], water for showers and water in the public toilets) was at-least WORKING. We had minor hiccups here and there but the staff was sincere enough to sort it out ASAP. But as approx two months passed by the problem became bad, real BAD. The twin showers on the 4th floor lost their pressure and till this day it is not good. Later we kept losing tap water in our rooms during certain times of the day due to a pressure differential in the pipes. We tried talking to the staff about it and they promised some help but the issue still persists. As of the day writing this review, we now have completely lost water for the 4th floor(our room tap water + showers) for three days straight. Most often I have to use showers on the first/ second / third floor as an offset. These BARE MINIMUM problems turn out to be quite a hassle when they overstay their welcome.( ~3-4+ months in this case) The management is trying to sort it out but I don't know what is going on behind the scenes. Anyhow, I am okay with services facing some sort of outage in case of a fault in the system that lasts week or a two. I don't mind adjusting to it at all. But if BARE MINIMUM things have constant problems for 3-4+ months straight then things might be fundamentally wrong here. I do not recommend this hostel for LONG-TERM. The pricing is attractive, it really is, but the BASIC things that don't work often overshadow the good things this hostel has to offer. If you make a decision to stay here for a long term DO NOT opt for the 4th floor. Basically you will pay the same price as other guests and just receive 1/3rd of the services offered in return. For a short term stay it might be alright.

I stayed at Holland House for 2.5 months and the experience was no less than a wonderful experience for me. The food was extremely good, and the rent is so fair. Getting this quality of food and living and that too such a good location is very difficult at least in central London. The place is very near to Victoria station and close to supermarkets like Tesco and Sainsbury, making daily livelihood very easy. The rooms are cleaned daily and very hygienic. Even the staffs are very friendly and the manager is super helpful. I faced a major problem during the end of my tenure, and the manager so calm and helped me with the situation.

I had the pleasure to stayed in Holland House for a month, and I can say that it’s an awesome hostel. Since the first day I felt like home, the food is delicious and the common areas are incredible. The rooms are big and are well lit. Thank you so much to the staff, Lin Flavio and Mateo!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a wonderful accommodation, and I can confidently say that the manager's exceptional service made my stay truly memorable. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality that instantly made me feel at home. The manager went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met and that I had an enjoyable stay. They were always available to answer any questions I had and provided excellent recommendations for local restaurants and attractions. Their attention to detail was also evident in the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms and facilities. One thing that stood out to me was how the manager took the time to get to know their guests personally, making sure that everyone felt welcome and valued. They were always friendly and approachable, which made me feel like I could ask for anything I needed. Overall, I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. The manager's amazing service truly sets this place apart and made my experience one that I will always remember. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Quite okay for the price but you should not expect too much. We stayed 4 nights. Breakfast is very basic but okay. The rooms are clean where needed but don't look too much at the walls. There can be some noise at night in the building so bring some ear plugs Location is very good. Underground nearby and also good walking distance from some touristy places. Supermarket very close. We didn't see any cooking facility in the building though. So all in all for the price you pay it is fine.

Very convenient location, breakfast included, not crowded rooms, peaceful. The showers are not too comfortable, the toilets are too small, but for the price in the center of London, is unbelievable. I would return.

(I have lived at the Holland House for 1 year and a half) My experience in a single room was great. Overall, the house has everything that is needed. Even if infrastructure is not so new, there is great commitment in its maintenance. Food ensures a healthy and balanced diet, while there are usually several dish options with different profiles. The gym, housekeeping and security services are very valuable extras. In good areas of Central London, these tend to be quite expensive. The price does reflect all that. Most importantly, sharing common areas and toilets does not feel the same as in a smaller structure, where there is only on option of a room/toilet to use and where there are no cleaning services to make up for your flatmates' mistakes. This location, for those who do not know it, is amazing. Housing there is extremely expensive (despite being old). It is one of the best residential areas in London, thus provided with everything you would expect in a not-too-busy neighbourhood. Last but not least, this is a very gregarious place where people from different backgrounds socialize. Group meals are key with that regard. This place is particularly well suited for those having just arrived to London, wishing to avoid the frequent loneliness of house sharing.

Recently stayed in Holland house, as a student it was affordable. They provide the room with breakfast and dinner service. Reception is kind and generous and will help out at any time of the hour. They provide with housekeeping service weekly. Location is central so it is very cost friendly.

Great hotel for the price. Met some long time resident there which could mean that they are doing something right. The hotel exterior is okay, the interior can be better especially the toilets and bathrooms. Maintenance of both should be taken seriously. It is located in a very prime location and very easy to commute to anywhere you wish to go. The food is served at the stipulated time and there's also room for improvement.

Great place! Best choice for long stay. Central location near Victoria station with good choice of food and shopping places. All-inclusive with flexible terms. Only one weeks’ notice to leave. Room is basic but has everything what you need. Great value for money.

I am really thankful to stay Holland House for 7 months. People are really nice and friendly and I even make good friends here. Although the room is not big, but still has a good view outside. The best thing is its location which is really convenient. I would love to come back again.
