I would easily call it to a must visit place in London . Stop by for a breakfast or lunch . Place with 100 years of history .

After reading the raving reviews for this place I decided to meet a girlfriend for lunch. We fancied something quick but quaint and I felt like I found the perfect place. I've never been so shocked by the behaviour of a staff member before coming here. We came in and as it was 12pm we weren't super hungry yet and my friend didn't know what she wanted. So we sat down and I ordered some drinks and was told (by this same man serving) we''d have to eat as it was lunchtime if we were to sit down. I reassured him that we would eat we were just choosing and we were having a little natter as we were browsing the menu. When we went up to queue we decided what we wanted but they didn't have what my friend wanted to eat. Now if you go out for pizza and you want to eat pizza... but they don't serve pizza that day... you get understandably disappointed right? Our disappointment evidently really annoyed the same man serving and he told her she was fussy laughing - and said that he 'thought as much' - that we wouldn't have ordered something and just wanter to sit down. If I wanted to do that I wouldn't have paid nearly £5 for two juices I could have got from Pret. Just some feedback - once you take the taste out of someones mouth for your food whatever you offer will sound distasteful. Learn some manners.

Tiny little place huge on charm and genuine hospitality. Family run for decades. Service beyond kind with regulars and locals hanging out creating a sense of a community of a sort. Without exaggeration my favorite coffee in town and their sandwiches are great too with egg mayo and anchovies being my choice.

Fantastic customer service, very helpful attentive staff and plenty of fresh homemade salads and sandwiches. I’m very selective about my coffee and the Americano that I had here was one the bests. This place is all in one :).

Really fancied a sandwich today on my trip to London and stumbled across this on Google. So glad I did as I'll be back here for sure! Plenty of veggie options, various cheeses 😍 and other options available too. Really really friendly staff too.

Amazing, friendly place that's been under the same family for at least four generations. It's got a great vibe. Honestly, not the very best coffee and sandwich I've ever had, but it's good, surprisingly inexpensive, friendly, and full of character. I'll definitely be back.

Beautifully preserved store established in 1900 & family run. The classic bacon sarnie was high quality with brown sauce of course! I was surprised at how good my latte coffee was. Takeout of pastrami sandwich kept me going at the office. Made my day, love this place.

Popped in for some jams/preserves as a gift. Ended up also getting a sandwich and a coffee. Delicious sandwich, amazing selection of preserves and really friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be going back.

Incredible sandwiches at great prices. Visit here for a small slice of historic London and the traditional sandwich shops that use to be on every street. Plus the jams and chutneys to takeaway on offer are a sight to behold. Don't get lunch at a chain, get it here and keep an independent business going.

A really unique find, a ‘subway’ from the ‘70s owned by generations of the same family. Great selection of sandwiches and lunches to be had, with hot soups and seating inside.

Fantastic, affordable sandwich deli in the heart of London's financial district. There is little room for sitting, but when the food is this good, I don't mind. The hummus and sun dried tomato sandwich was to die for and even on a hot day, I opted for the soup of the day which was a cream of broccoli soup. Both tasted very well and satiated my appetite. I will definitely return to try the rest of their menu and eagerly anticipate what their soup of the day will be.

On a hump day (Wednesday) during our lunch break. My colleague came with this seafood sandwich. I asked him where did you get that sandwich? He told me about this place. I was so intrigued I was dying to find out more about delicatessen sandwiches, which is a rare occurrence in London. Got tired of Subway so I wanted to eat something unique. Anyways, fast forward to Friday - walked inside this cute little vintage sandwich shop currently running by Paul and his son Stephen Rothe (as they’re 3rd-4th generation of this 123 year old establishment) I ordered the popular vegetarian option - Sundried Tomatoes, Swiss Emmental Cheese and Hummus. Tasted great way too delicious I was really impressed. Just the sandwich itself it’s £4. Massive bargain! Downside - They will charge you £0.50 for toasting the bread! Hilarious I know but it’s okay. The drinks on top of that will be around £8 quid. Which is not that bad pricing wise. But there’s no meal deal option. Limited halal options. Only the chicken is halal.

Top notch coronation sandwich and a ‘proper’ cup of tea. Apologies for the bite mark in the pic - I couldn’t wait! Everyone is super cheery and helpful. Who needs Pret when you have Paul and Stephen Rothe making your sandwiches.

I adore this place. I always order the coronation chicken sandwich to eat in. The staff are very nice and polite. It sells a great range of pickles and jams and it's nicely set out inside. Very homely. I'd definitely recommend it. Has a great range of sandwiches/baguettes.

One of a few establishments in London that is evidently owner operated. Friendly, efficient, clean and good quality food - rare in London. They were still accommodating customers at 4pm when it was closing time.

Great sandwich bar with good portions and good hot drinks. A hint of nostalgia in the interior and decor completes a lovely atmosphere. And the food is a good price.
