Best scones and clotted cream I've had! Afternoon tea here is a very pleasant experience. Food is stellar, I loved the finger sandwiches and desserts. They had very nice herbal tea infusion options. I do recommend making a reservation, but they took my party as a walk-in, we had approximately an hour wait on the Friday afternoon that we went.

It’s losing its charm… I’ve often been to The Wolseley for breakfast or brunch; rarely lunch or dinner but over the past few years it’s been my go to to pop in for a cheeky dessert. I love that I can order a banana split and a pot of tea and while away some time in the hustle of the 1920’s. But lately service has been slow and blunt. The food has lost its charm and there’s no longer the excitement of the table roulette when you arrive as a ‘walk in’. There are also better places for dessert in London with less pomp and circumstance. It’s a must if you’re a tourist, but only one visit is necessary to get the obligatory pictures to say you’ve been there.

We didn’t have the reservation therefore we didn’t get the best place, we had the one next to the door. If you coming over during the weekend make sure you book the table. Breakfast was very tasty, especially the sourdough bread and the butter very crunchy and fresh, don’t be shy and ask for more if needed. Staff were attentive. Attaching some pictures. Enjoy 😊

Our brunch experience at The Wolseley was set in a classy ambiance adorned with grand chandeliers and marble surroundings. Despite the elegant atmosphere, the place was buzzing and busy, adding a lively touch. We opted for the English breakfast, berry pancakes, and coffee. The food was deemed just okay, so as the service. They also forgot my one of our order. The Wolseley offers a sophisticated setting for brunch, making it an ideal spot for those who appreciate a bustling yet refined atmosphere.

A very nice classic decoration and lovely atmosphere . They serve free bread and butter as a welcoming starter Food was delicious and staff were friendly. We had the Wolseley hamburger and was very juicy and yummy! Also, we got the eggs Arlington that were tasty! I highly recommend going there and have Brunch !

Good food paired with great service in a very proper setting near Buckingham Palace. We went for breakfast and were pleasantly surprised at wide menu selections and variety of drinks hoy or cold. Prices are on the higher side but not unreasonable given level of service and quality of food.

Went in here for an afternoon tea! Absolutely LOVED it! The tea was amazing and sandwiches were good tea. The cakes were decent, not the best but good. Service was impeccable and the overall experience was great. Highly recommend this place

Was chuffed to find a table on the day itself. Came for breakfast. Last year it was usually fully booked after restrictions were lifted. The place was buzzing when we arrived, it was lovely! Really enjoyed what I ordered. Had always been curious to find out what Kedgeree was all about (even tried cooking it at home). Finally here I tried the authentic version. Delicious!

Breakfast was really good. Service is great, stuff is helpful and caring, not fast but normal enough that you don't wait much. Inside ambiance is amazing. Prices are a bit higher after covid pandemic especially for eggs that you need to choose small or large for 1-2 muffins/eggs. I would like to visit for afternoon tea to try pastries 🤤

Great afternoon tea experience. It is quite loud so it may be hard to hear your table at times. Thought that service could be better, but it’s still good. Scones, cakes, and sandwiches were all good. I did see a few tables not finishing their cakes and sandwiches which was a bit surprising…

The afternoon tea is wonderful. The atmosphere is nice and the staff provide good service. The scones are delicious, the sandwiches are tasty and more can be brought on request and the cake selection is good. The only downside with the cakes is, they only bring one of everything; so if you want to try it all, you must share. The tea selection is also nice. Overall, The Wolseley is an excellent afternoon tea experience.

Great for a leisurely business brunch. One of London's most classic and traditional restaurants. The staff are welcoming and very professional. The menu is varied and interesting with a lot of things you just dont see anywhere else. The portions are good and quality of food is excellent. Loved the stylish decor which has aspects from art deco and other periods and it has a very expensive and exclusive feeling to it. Perfect business brunch. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed The Wolseley, from the doorman at the door, the food, ambience, service and decor of the restaurant. It feels like by gone days glamour and class. The food was delicious unfortunately, the photos don't do it any justice. I met a friend after 2 years so, there was much to catch up on; hence, rushed pictures. I had a full 3 course meal starting with onion soup, venison meatballs with neeps and fruit crumble with custard. You're served tap water without having to ask for it and your glass is kept topped up. This should be standard in any restaurant and I glad The Wolseley don't feel it above them to do so. The staff are attentive; my glass of water was never empty. They are friendly, offer service with a smile and are glad to answer any questions. The setting is beautiful. I would absolutely recommend for a special occasion for dinner in the evening and you won't be out of place if you decide to get dressed up. I'll definitely be going back.

Took my mum for her Birthday and what a pleasant afternoon tea we had. The staff couldn’t have done enough and as I do a lot of reviews and have had a lot of afternoon teas this was right up there with the best. Sandwiches are a delight and the pastry’s and cakes are delicious. I do like how they serve coffee also as not many places do and I’m a massive coffee lover so extra points for that! Also it’s a very good price for what you get and that’s a luxurious afternoon tea.

Great place for breakfast or lunch. The whole experience oozes luxury, from the interior to the silverware. The food was great. I was happy you could pick what size order you wanted. This allowed us to try several different options. Service was good and proper. Location is very convenient. Would be a good place for a date if you want to impress.

The pancakes is nice, be careful, don’t put too much syrup on it. Order a taste bitter coffee will balance the sweet taste perfectly. Also you definitely need a glass of table water to finish all. A bit noisy inside.Maybe because it’s popular? As almost full over there.

Posh place, the dishes look perfect for instagram pictures and I wish the taste was as good. For example the poached egg has to be soft inside and it was not. The focaccia bread was not fresh, the avocado had too much lemon and the hollandaise sauce did not have the right texture. For people who love good food as myself, this place is a no-no. Overpriced and just mediocre. The chefs should pay more attention to detail before they serve the food. I am surprised that this place has so many good reviews. I would not go there again. P.S this place was listed in the book of Tom Greig "500 Hidden Secrets of London" as one of the most fabulous breakfast places in London. I can say that the author had misled me.

An excellent place with excellent service and high quality food. A lot of the items are made with wine and me and my husband do not eat pork or drink alcohol and they put in great effort to serve us a dish without alcohol, the waiters are absolutely amazing - very kind and I would come back again just for the service of the waiters, very thankful for the effort-filled experience! Please appreciate your waiters! The doorman was also very kind, his smiles to us made our night! Please thank him for us!

Largely this restaurant was lovely. My mother treated me to lunch here for my birthday which was a lovely occasion and fabulous setting. Staff were amazing and attentive from the start and very helpful. I'd like to say a particular thanks to Nathaniel who looked after us very well, was courteous, polite, genuinely interested and also had time to do the same with his other clients. Point of disappointment was with a lady who approached us as we were eating our dessert at 4:34pm (booking was at 2:30) to tell us that the table was reserved and so we'd have to vacate after dessert. Firstly, we're eating, did not appreciate being interrupted by someone who was quite frankly hard to understand because she was wearing a mask and the restaurant was noisy. Also, table bookings are for 2 hours, so she literally pounced on us 4 mins after the two hour window to tell us that we had to vacate after dessert. This left a sour note and I think she was very rude. Our waiter was very apologetic and really went to extra lengths to ensure we could enjoy our coffees without feeling rushed another part of the restaurant. Apart from this interruption the afternoon was perfect but I do urge the Wolesely staff to think about how they speak to guests should they wish to move them on.

Highly recommend the gnocchi, it was so good. I ordered one, my friend tried a bite and had to order one too on top of the small steak (don’t really recommend this one). Service was ok - they rush around everywhere so it’s kind of hard to get a server to attend to you.

Great place to have breakfast. Nice atmosphere, great food. I loved my French toast, although I purposely chose the option of seasonal berries as a healthier option and ended up with icing sugar and a compote over the top. I know to ask for it without next time though. The service was prompt and the staff attentive but a smile from at least one of them would have been nice to see. Makes the world of difference!

Enjoyed the afternoon tea set at The Wolseley. Service was good although the restaurant was full so it was a bit slow at times in terms of refills of tea and sandwiches. The sandwiches were good, some edges on the bread were slightly dry - perhaps out for too long but the sweets were nice. There were options of egg, pickles and cheese, salmon and cream cheese, coronation chicken to name a few. There was a good mix of fruit and chocolate cakes. The scones were definitely the highlight. They were delicious and fresh and the jam and clotted cream was also wonderful. Priced at £40pp for the non alcoholic option, would recommend for a treat or a special afternoon out in central London

Absolutely loved my experience having afternoon tea at the Wolesley! The restaurant is so beautiful and has a lovely old-world classic feel, so if you’re looking for a traditional English afternoon tea, this is the perfect spot. The scones were delicious, soft and fluffy, there was a good variety of sandwiches and sweets (although the sandwiches could have a tad more filling), and the teas were great. Not sure why there are so many reviews about the poor service but my experience with the waitstaff was just outstanding! They were so accommodating of everything I needed, and even offered me refills for any of the items if I was interested. I really appreciated how attentive the service was and it really added to the classy, upscale ambience. The portion size is more than enough for one person too! Cannot recommend this gem enough, I’m glad I was able to visit on my trip to London.

Visited this restaurant for my birthday recently. The good was delicious, ambience was good and service was excellent and as if nothing was too much of an ask. I would certainly recommend and would return. However, I do not think the quality is such that truly reflects the price and there is soom for improvement. So, be mindful of the London prices. All in all, very good!

Lovely afternoon tea - here just after Christmas. Platter with scones, jam and cream and other delicious bits, tea full of flavour, champas topped the afternoon off nicely. Would like to go back one day.

The English equivalent of a posh TGI Friday, there are open 8am to midnight, have a small menu which never changes.. It's a beautiful setting, the staff are nice but it's not a real restaurant... A beautiful setting but the food tastes like this tis the millionth time the chefs had cooked it... Which is probably true, on a side note, the doorperson spends all her time on her phone, so just get the door yourself

The Wolseley is a great place to dine, and kicking off the day with a birthday brunch was a lovely treat and surprise for my husband. The Wolseley is incredibly decadent and lavish with a service and menu to match. The atmosphere had a real buzz and ambience to it. We were quickly seated at our table which was set so beautifully. The silverware used for serving always makes it a little more unique than anywhere else and definitely worth it. We had a delicious breakfast which was served impeccably and he even received a little birthday surprise extra. A cool place to dine whatever the occasion.

Best experience and food of my life! I went here with my brother for afternoon tea and it was life changing. The staff were super attentive and well versed in the menu. It was well priced especially for the food and service quality. I have already recommended this place to my friends when they visit London!

This used to be an institution… We dined for afternoon tea on Sunday this weekend gone and I have to say after having been here many many times over the past few years - it was a total let down. We specifically booked this as a treat for our friends who were visiting from abroad for a few days and whom had never experienced English Afternoon Tea. It’s safe to say I was probably viewed as a clown afterwards for having chosen a venue totally contrary to their expectations let alone mine. When we entered we were greeted by two friendly members of staff, one of which showed us to our balcony table. There after the service was very hit and miss - some of the waiting staff being friendly and attentive and others mumbling and making comments as we were ordering different choices of tea. The service wasn’t exactly prompt and our requests weren’t kindly placed on the table; instead being dumped and them disappearing as quickly as possible without care back down the stairs to attend to other matters. The management seemed disorganised as after we paid our bill another member of staff returned to ask if we would like anything else before I corrected him that the bill had already been paid. In a nutshell I think this place has definitely lost its charm. The food was adequate but nothing special or glamorous like it used to be. The atmosphere was nowhere near how it was and most of the other clientele were very poorly behaved and dressed. It’s pretty evident there needs to be allot of improvement in the running of this used to be establishment for the great and the good / it’s been reduced to mere standard rubble. The decor is gorgeous but in need of a refurbishment, tables are worn as is the interior and it’s crying out for A new lease of life. To conclude - my honest recommendation would be to try somewhere else if you’re after a great afternoon tea experience and let’s hope besides being marred in recent controversies - someone does step up to revive this old Lady back to her former glory! A touch of a couple of a vintage Wolseley cars on the foyer wouldn’t do a miss!

I love this place. You can dress smart or smart-casual. It really has the 'classic- exquisite' London feel. The staff were faultless- very knowledgeable about their menu, not rushing you but, we're always at hand when needed. The food was exquisite. I have been previos time prior to this visit and it never fails to disappointment me.

Our experience was excellent! We went for afternoon tea and it was by far the best we've had. Extremely fresh, great selection of sandwiches and desserts. Above all, the customer service received by EVERYONE, was extraordinary, including the door greeter and the restroom attendant. The ambience of The Wolseley was superb. Though crowded, we felt as if we were the only couple dining there. I highly recommend the Wolseley but please make a reservation, they tend to sell out very quickly, and for good reason!

The place is so traditionally posh British, it’s exactly what you imagine such a historical place to be. The interior was beautiful. I thought the food was great but not everyone in my party loved it. The chips were delicious. Will say, service wasn’t great; needed to wait a solid chunk to get attention and when we asked about wine selection the server needed to bring another server over who also seemed befuddled. Besides that, I had a joyous time. Me and my family always come here on our trips to London and definitely recommend for a true British experience.

If Brunch Food heaven was on earth, this would be it! One of my all time favs to go for brunch when in town with friends. The building is a historic beauty and every time I go I find another delight of architecture. Now the food - sublime! I’ve never been disappointed and every time I try something new but the Eggs Benedict is my go to always, and washed down with a bucks fizz. The cake pastries are yummy and with a flavoured coffee is just the best to set you off for the day … weekends you need to book as very busy.

I had higher expectations, I suppose, as I have had afternoon tea a few times before but not in the UK. The place felt cramped as the space between tables was narrow and the atmosphere was busy and a tad loud. We were seated in a corner booth so we could hear each other (we were a party of 6 adults). We chose classic afternoon tea. The scones were lovely, the pastries were not outstanding but pleasant, and the sandwiches were a good selection. The tea selection was good, too. The service staff was efficient and very busy. I think it was pricey for the overall afternoon tea experience. I think that for one to fully enjoy and appreciate afternoon tea, it must be a multisensory experience, that is, the food tastes and smells good and is visually pleasing, and the atmosphere of the place draws one's energy towards attending to the food and the people we are enjoying them with. The Wolseley missed the mark on creating such an atmosphere and experience for me.

Enjoyed a typical English high tea. Where some places feel like a tourist trap or will squeeze you in a tight spot this is the real thing. Next to the Ritz between the fashionable London locals you can enjoy a great and balanced high tea. Fresh and inline with a great British tradition in a beautiful atmosphere of an deluxe car showroom of old days. Skip Harrods and go here!

After a ton of research, I settled on the Wolsely for a solo afternoon tea service. Reservations were very easy via their online system, and I was seated immediately upon my arrival. The scones were tender and warm, and the sandwiches were soft and moist. I enjoyed the dessert pastries as well, and there was enough food for one for a meal (as it should be). I was not offered any refills, and when I asked for more tea (same variety), I was charged for another pot, which I had not anticipated based off of other reviews. I will agree that there is quite a bit of noise and the tables are quite closely packed, and the vast majority were travelers like myself, but I still somehow felt slightly underdressed in dark jeans and a button up shirt. I was comfortable as a solo visitor and utilized WiFi to do some work on my tablet. Visited in February. I would recommend this place for afternoon tea for the price point, but, with the abundance of other locations offering afternoon tea, would not return again.

I had an amazing tea time at The Wolseley. Even if I was alone, the staff treated me so well, with such kindness, it really made the whole experience unforgettable. I had the afternoon cream tea (tea + scones). The tea was delicate, the scones were super fresh and I even received some free little cakes to taste. I would really like to emphasize how nice the staff was! The place was a bit loud but it's really charming.

An established institution at the heart of Mayfair. Located right to the Ritz and a stone throw away from the Royal Academy of Arts, the art deco rooms are to die for. It is a great place to have something a little special without the meals being overly expensive and pretentious. I have had mixed experiences with service at the Wolsely, but my most recent visit was great. Would recommend for a special occasion, work lunch/dinner of if you are just in the area! Though booking is recommended.

Been waited outside for more than 30 minutes despite reservation. If you cannot handle the number of customers, don’t accept it. Very irritating. PS. However, they gave us complimentary glass of champagne and apologised for the delay. So my initial one star is now changed to three.

A great way to start your morning! Located next to the Ritz Hotel, the Wolsey is a unique place to have breakfast in central London. The service is absolutely great and the vibe of the place is a fabulous experience. We try different kinds of breakfast and all of the were very delicious.

Amazing brunch. A little bit pricey but worth every penny. The whole experience was fantastic. Excellent staff, who were really attentive and helpful. Lovely dining experience, with silverware placed out in a beautiful setting. Not pretentious either. And most importantly, the food was incredible. Fluffy bouncy pancakes with fresh berries, the best French toast ever (I'm not kidding), and lovely fresh pastries. This was a great experience. Perfect brunch.

Wonderful location, great service and helpful, friendly staff. The afternoon tea is totally recommended, with a wide selection of teas, sandwiches, cakes and scones. Also, I expected it to be much more expensive that it actually was. Totally worth a visit!

We had Afternoon Tea here. It was yummy and surprisingly filling. We expected everyone to still be hungry when we left, but that was not the case, at all. We had someone with a birthday with us and they received a special plate of birthday goodies.

Went to the Wolseley the first weekend out of lockdown to celebrate my friends 30th birthday and had such a lovely time. Our waiter Georgi was amazing, he was so attentive, service was really quick and the food was just amazing. The flat iron steak and fries and gem lettuce were amazing value for money and so well seasoned. Lovely red wine too - would love to come again, thanks a lot Georgi!

Best! Beautiful building, great service, tasty classy British cuisine and very reasonable prices for that level. We paid 100 pounds for the dinner for soups, main, desserts, service and a glass of champagne. We were super full. Had a huge luck to jump in without the booking, thanks to the kindest hostess! Will come back for the afternoon tea!

Yesterday, as tourists, we stopped at the Wolseley to see if we could have Cream Tea (without a reservation). They squeezed us into a small table but made it happen. All of the waitstaff were super nice, helpful, and treated us like locas. It was a fun and delicious afternoon with interesting teas and scrumptious scones.

  • 3/5 Ecel 1 year ago on Google
Food was alright. Nothing spectacular to shout about. If you're a tourist like me and you're planning to come here, I'd recommend you to visit at least once. The decor is well worth it, service was decent. Black coffee was the best we had in London during our 4 days trip.

This place is one of the landmarks in London. It used to be a car dealership back in the days. Reservation is highly recommended, especially during dinner time. Dress accordingly. Lots of prominent people and celebrities go to eat here. Food is so incredibly delicious. A must visit if you're in London!!

My first ever experience to try the famous afternoon tea and I was lucky to try it at Wolseley. Pictures speak louder than words but you have to see it with your own eyes. Have to mention that the staff were so nice to recommend suggestions and check if everything was OK

A fairly solid 4 with room for improvements regarding food. Overall the location and atmosphere is good for a lunch break on my long Saturday commute out of the rails and tubes, if you can get through the crow inside the doorway. Steak tartare appears ordinary but it’s actually packed with flavors. The capers and horseradish and mustard give it a refreshing taste. The toast is slightly dry and stale in contrast. At least it’s not fried and oily— Both the bread basket and toast slice would be better served warm; nor was the butter speakable. And where’s the butter knife… One star must be deducted here for a venue at this level. Mushroom gnocchi is tasty, warmly spiced with a hint of star anise. Some of the pasta has passed al dente, but I enjoyed the remaining stickiness in general. The toasted hazelnuts add nice textures. Hot lemon press is interesting and fits the chilly sickly weather. Lunchtime goulash looks bountiful. Maybe I’ll try the set next time, though there are reviews about it being either too fatty or tough 🤔️ (I though about ordering it but it would be sad if it’s comparable to the college dining how…) Dessert seem passable except for Apfel strudel. Croustade of Quail Eggs Also sounds nice. Maybe next time. Booking is not essential on weekends but walk-in lunch has a waiting time of around 30 min. Having booked myself, there’s still a bit chaos around the reception with all the eager customers trying to cut the line and put down their names. This can be quite stressful. The space is classy while friendly and not overwhelming. Cover charge in addition to service charge is weird though.

Wonderful early dinner before the theatre. Everything was delicious, with particular highlights the kedgeree and the fishcakes Arlington. Service was impeccable and the elegant dining room put you in the mood for a top class experience. For the quality of the food and the service, not to mention the location, I would say their prices are fair. We can’t wait to return and try the many other things on the menu that sounded delicious. Thank you for the lovely birthday surprise too (pictured here).

An absolutely fantastic institution- best scallops I have eaten any where in the world. Simplistic perfection. And ps: the bread and butter is so good you could just eat the butter alone for a meal!

We walked into The Wolseley on a trip to Piccadilly Circus for breakfast. We felt very welcomed and the service was quick and very friendly throughout. We came last minute for breakfast and still got served without question. The food is reasonably priced for the area and is delicious! We would definitely recommend "The English" and "Omelette Guyere". Definitely check it out when you're in the area. We would always come back .
