This is the finest and most authentic Mexican restaurant I have experienced in Europe. Unbelievably excellent, in fact, far exceeding my expectations. Their starters, margaritas and premium tequila (and Mexican beer) selections are phenomenal - and are matched only by their gracious hospitality and outstanding service. If you need a delightful taste of authentic Mexican food, Mestizo will most definitely satisfy your cravings. Make sure to visit their adjacent store as well for a great and rare selection of ingredients for home cooked Taco Tuesday!! 12 on a scale of 10…. ¡Ándale!

A very filling, authentic Mexican meal. So difficult to find traditional Mexican in London. Very glad to have experienced these flavors and lots of vegetarian options. They were able to meet my dietary restrictions. Ricardo provided impeccable service.

This brought us back to the Mexican food we had in the US. The carnitas and tortillas were amazing. Very good guacamole and nacho chips The salsas were phenomenal - I think the best I've had since California! Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food.

Excellent menu and competitive prices (2 courses plus soft drink and service under 40 quid). Service is fast but don't expect to be asked if food was ok, waiters are always very busy in a packed restaurant. Mole enchiladas are generously filled, quesadillas were more average (courgette flowers have a very mild flavour, so not recommended in a cheesy tortilla). Opentable overestimates booking slots so last-minute reservations may be cancelled after the confirmation if the restaurant is busy. Brunch set menu available, 2 courses at 19.90 plus service.

We really enjoyed our meal here! Food was lovely as were the staff. For those reviews saying it was “lacking flavour” I think perhaps they may be used to the non authentic Tex-Mex style. This however was really authentic flavours that were more grounded and earthy. The mole sauce on our mains was absolutely delicious! And our starters were equally tasty. The Tres Leches dessert is definitely one of the nicest I’ve tried around! On top of that the majority (if not all) of the staff are Mexican so you do get a real sense of authenticity. The vibe is pretty casual, nothing fancy - The food is the main focus here and we will for sure be back! A special shout-out to our lovely, attentive waiter Ricardo!

Amazing buffet brunch on Sunday: traditional Mexican food (stews of beef, pork, chicken, meatballs, veg options, rice, beans, and tamales) plus tacos made to order. Everything was delicious. The best Mexican I’ve found in London, and I’ve tried a lot. Most people here are Spanish speakers - I don’t know accents well enough to identify if they’re Mexican! But I’d hazard a guess. Forgot to check the price before ordering but I don’t care what it ends up being. Sublime.

Very good Mexican restaurant, the food is very good, an authentic taste of Mexico. Service is friendly and fast. We had some cocktails, from a huge number available. For the main course we had tachos, with a great many fillings, all where full of favour. We shall be back to Mestizo very soon.

Very average experience. The chicken was warm, not hot as you'd expect, flavour was ok, nothing special. The side of vegetables were literally just steamed, zero flavour. Not a restaurant experience I'd like to repeat. My friends would probably echo what I've said.

Incredible Sunday brunch at Mestizo yesterday. I’ve been there several times over the years for parties and regular meals but never for the brunch. A wonderful deal with an amazing range of food and non alcoholic beverages included in the very reasonable price. Highly recommended! Their shop next door is also a gem with hard to find Mexican ingredients in plentiful supply. Thanks for a wonderful meal and great hospitality!

Great presentation, welcoming atmosphere. Loves the empanadas!! The food was yummy but was lacking spice, some places salt. Could be just my personal preference. Otherwise, loved the taco tray!

If you want to try out authentic mexican food, then this place is a must try. It had a brilliant atmosphere and the food was also well priced. For starters we ordered a Tamales costenos - it was yum, very different food texture but felt it was a little dry if you didn't get enough sauce. For mains we ordered a CHILES RELLENOS and this was absolutely delicious, it is a large pepper filled with beef and a fried batter plus rice and black beans. The pepper is not spicy. The ENCHILADAS CANCÚN was also good but I did not love it as much. For dessert we ordered a Pastel 3 leches, and it was absolutely delicious. The texture of this dessert was so good. We only ordered one to share but I definitely will be ordering my own one next time. They have a decent drink menu too, if you fancy a little spice in your drink I would recommend a LEVANTA MUERTOS, this was my favourite drink, it had a little spice to it and it had the perfect quantity. The JALAPEÑO MARGARITA was quite unique to this place I've never seen such a drink anywhere else and would also recommend it. Overall, I would 100% return to try out other dishes in the menu, they take bookings via WhatsApp too!

Was here with a friend because we had a sudden craving for authentic Mexican food. Googled for that and this place came up top. We were sat and was told there is a 90 minute table return policy, completely understandable given how packed it was even on the rainy weekday evening we visited. We were quickly greeted and serviced by a very warm, welcoming and lovely waitress. Asked for some recommendations and had our orders taken. Food and drinks arrived pretty quick and everything we ordered were very generously portioned. The guacamole is a must in my opinion, it is so fresh and delicious I felt like I’ve never eaten proper guacamole before. We were also so surprised to find on the menu that they offer a hard to find dish - tamale - so we took our chance and it did not disappoint! We realised our stomach couldn’t possibly stuff another dish that we ordered but hasn’t arrived yet, so we asked if we could cancel it. Our waitress was ever so helpful and understanding, she made that happen. She even double checked our bill to ensure it was indeed cancelled. Top notch service, top notch food. I would definitely come back whenever I want Mexican food.

My first time at this restaurant was probably 3 years ago and I remember having a great time here with my friends. I had the opportunity to come back for a second visit for a friend's birthday dinner for which she invited over 20 people so the tables were packed with us, alongside all the other guests. I ordered a taco tray to share with a friend, and guacamole with tortilla chips on the side. For the taco fillings, we went with chorizo, carnita, beef brisket and chicken. The tray also came with a bunch of sauces and some salad. The tortillas came out warm in a bag which was so considerate of the chef and all the ingredients together just went so well. I have to confess I am not a big fan of Mexican food but I enjoyed this meal a lot because of how flavourful everything was. The guacamole was really nice too, refreshing and tangy with the lemon juice. We also ordered some nacho platters for the table and those were great as well. The melted cheese, mole and the jalapenos were perfect with the chips, so moreish and I kept going back for more. Because it's my friend's birthday, they came out with a cake and a massive Mexican hat for my friend to wear, along with an alcoholic shot and it was so nice to see how happy my friend was. Staff were all so patient with our big party size and took the time to recommend us the fillings for the tacos, massive thumbs up to their professionalism and really appreciated their calmness when everything was so hectic around us. I would be very happy to come back and try other things on the menu next time.

Mexicain restaurant in London 🇬🇧 The place is Nice, waiters as well, the food was decent could have been a little more tasteful in my opinion still there are a lot of choices on the menu. The prices are a little high in my opinion. They also have a single menu only for margaritas which I strongly recommend the cocktail was amazing.

Staff were so lovely! Made us feel really welcome! They did a little surprise for us as it was our anniversary! We're not from London but chose this as my partner is a picky vegetarian, the food was absolutely lovely and came out stupidly fast!

Lovely place to eat! Has a nice welcoming vibe to the place. Waiters were generous with the tortillas and food was not too spicy. Enjoyed our starter and main meal which did not take too long to arrive. Taste was perfect 🤩. Definitely worth visiting more than once. I suggest not to sit at the high table next to the bar though, it’s right next to the toilet ❌

Very cosy and special place with absolutely delightful cocktails! I enjoyed starters, though the mains were not too impressive. The staff is very friendly and was kind to even explain to us the traditional way to eat and mix the soup. Would definitely go again!

Amazing from start to finish. Alex was extremely helpful and friendly. He explained the menu and recommended some of his favorite items. The food was excellent. The service was brilliant. The restaurant is gorgeous. We had a great time and we would definitely come back!

Food was fantastic - really enjoyed the tray of different toppings for the tacos. Atmosphere was very lively & fun! Service was a little slow though; trying to get someone’s attention was a little challenging at times. It didn’t matter too much as we were happy sipping the cocktails.

Plenty of choice in the food menu and amazing margaritas. I've tried the ginger margarita, the peach margarita and the watermelon frozen margarita, all great! The food was OK, be prepared to feel full pretty fast as everything was very fatty and cheesy. We got three sharing starters - queso frito (fried cheese), loaded nachos (more cheese), empanadas (filled with cheese) - then I had crepas de cuitlacoche with Mexican mushrooms and corn (amazing!) buried under melted cheese, which came with a side of black beans and tomato sauce rice. We got four different desserts: tres leches, corn cake with ice cream, flan (creme caramel), churros. They were OK-ish, nothing special apart from the churros that were amazingly crispy and came with chocolate sauce and (I think) cinnamon sauce on the side. The coffee was good (Illy), and they only brought sugar after we asked for it. The service was awful when we arrived, as we waited 45 minutes for the waiter to take our order (after we had called them twice). The place was extremely busy and they were absolutely understaffed and I felt bad for them, however they never said "sorry about your wait" or even acknowledged they got our order extremely late (we were still charged the service charge). HOWEVER, the staff was always polite and the food and drinks arrived in no time, I mean in 15 minutes after we ordered we had drinks and starters. The place is decently decorated and very colourful, we couldn't understand why the music didn't follow the same vibe. But at one moment someone ordered a special drink and they put a Mexican hat on their head and played Mexican music, everybody started clapping their hand and it was really entertaining (for two minutes). We paid £70 each which I think is a bit overpriced for what it was.

Super fun venue. To my personal experience, this place has the most authentic Mexican flavours I could find outside of México. I also loved the fact that waiters randomly pick people in the venue, give them a sombrero, candle and tequila shot and and do a really fun and cool "ceremony" that really sparks up the atmosphere in the restaurant.

Firstly I would say our waiter David was absolutely lovely. He was however not the only one serving us. We also had a server that could not understand even basic orders like "a Pepsi max" which was very strange. The service had ups and downs but the review is mostly about the food. The dishes look lovely but taste absolutely bland, edible but each dish felt like it was missing something, quite disappointed We got a little frozen margarita at the end which was actually super tasty :)

Mestizo is as authentic as you can really get in London for traditional Mexican delicacies and dishes. When we visited we were made to feel right at home with the ambiance and vibes being great for almost any occasion. One thing that really draws us to Mestizo is how varied and extensive their offering is. With soups and salads, Mexican Tapas, a Burrito menu, a vegan menu and a Mexican Buffet Brunch on Sundays, Mestizo literally has something for everyone. Within this insane offering are also wheat and gluten free options too. Pictured are Nachos, Tamales Costenos, the Taco Tray and Horchata.

My friend and I went to Mexico for a month years ago and really wanted to get good Mexican food in london. We ordered Mole which is one of Mexico’s best dishes and really delicious dish but it was probably one of the worst meals I’ve had in london in years. The chicken was DRY. The rice was broken and DRY and basically the scrapings of the bottom of the barrel (I’m Chinese I know what that looks like) and we didn’t even RECOGNISE the mole sauce. The dish was 18 each and so so bad. The service was awful and our salad didn’t come for about 40min after asking twice and them saying it’s ready (another 15min…). I wouldn’t have paid a fiver for that let along 18! Not sure why this place is popular but it’s for big birthday groups who want sombrero and a loud cheer not authentic Mexican food.

Good Mexican food, most people there couldn't speak English and I think that was a good sign of authentic Mexican food I liked all of the food, but Tamales were not great, probably because the authentic version is like this ... We used to get one with all the meat and sauce inside tamales, so I was comparing with that Overall liked it

I am not Mexican but did hear comment on the authenticity of this Mexican restaurant. Cocktails are good but slightly overpriced. Two different taco flavours I have tried(and recommended by the server) were mediocre in my opinion, the meat was both dry and overcooked. Price was over £30pp with one drink for each of us.

I will agree with Mestizo reviews by Mexican patrons where they name it as the closest reference in regard to their country's kitchen delights. Me and my Spanish speaking friends - among which, yes, there were two Mexicans - were introduced to relevant jargon like chile, guacamole and taco via the Sunday Buffet, a never ending parade of new tastes and flavours we had to tuck into fresh, piping hot bread discs with our bare hands, which added to the authenticity this delicious, world famous finger food was introduced to us with. I learned helpful terms for my taco choices (cochinita pibil, nopal, tinga, quesadilla), the amazing Molcajete Mestizo, aguas frescas (tamarindo is my winner but also try hibiscus and horchata), and they speak highly of a beer chelada. Desserts included tres leches spongy cake and Mexican churro servings, and coffee was above decent standards. Do your tastebuds a favour by forgetting those bland, production-line chipotle and tortilla fast food chains - Mestizo's offer of authentic atmosphere, lip-smacking fare and flawless service is undoubtedly excellent value for money. Needless to say, I'LL BE BACK.

Really nice Mexican food. More authentic than any I've had in the UK. We had the Taco Tray and Molcajete Mestizo between four of us and it was plenty! The Taco Tray was great, with a number of sides + 4 fillings of choice. We went with the Tinga, Pollo Pibil, Carnitas and Arrachera. The carnitas was my favourite, juicy and yum. The arrachera was a tiny bit tough and dry but still good. I loved being able to mix and match what I wanted. The stand out of our meal was the Molcajete Mestizo though. It was like a cheesy Mexican hotpot of flavour. The cooked soft chorizo in it was so flavourful and tender, unlike any I had tried before. I would definitely recommend it. The spicy sauce that came as a side with it was delicious well. Finally, had the Tres Leches for dessert and was not disappointed. May be too heavy for one person but if you like condensed milk based desserts, this one is for you. The only reason I dropped a star was that the service was a bit brusque. So 4.5 / 5 really. All in all, I'd go back. Next time, tamales.

If you've ever had real Mexican food from California, Texas, Arizona, or Mexico you should skip this restaurant. There's nothing authentic Mexican about this food. The margaritas are good, but they're 10GBP and a served in a tiny Martini glass, which is absolutely no value. The only good thing I can say any this restaurant is that the staff is great! Super friendly bunch and they all speak Spanish and are from Latin America. Other than that, skip this place if you're looking for a real Mexican dining experience.

I'm not that knowledgeable in Mexican food. Whenever I have had Mexican food it's been alright. This place is decorated really nice and it was busy. I ordered the PESCADILLAS to start which were like fish patties, then I had the CREPAS DE CUITLACOCHE which was a filled crepe of mushrooms, onions and a cheesy cream sauce over it and a side of black beans. That was alright too. Lastly had the CHURROS. These are like doughnut. Overall it was ok. I enjoyed the time with my friends.

  • 4/5 Belén V. 1 year ago on Google
The nachos and the jalapeño margarita were so so so so so so so good. I had never tried mole so I'm still unsure about it, loved to finally try it, though! Staff was okay, it was really busy, so I'm sure it wasn't on purpose. I will go again because it was delicious, and I want to try their tacos!
