Let's
start
with
the
positives.
Fully
halal
and
easy
to
get
to.
Perfectly
edible
food.
Having
travelled
120
miles
to
eat
here
as
a
birthday
treat...
We
were
obviously
going
to
finish
our
meals!
The
puree
and
charred
cauliflower
stand
out
and
the
quantity
and
balance
of
meat
to
veg
is
well
thought
through.
Clearly
well
designed
visually;
your
social
media
friends
will
be
suitable
impressed.
Sadly,
not
the
resounding
success
it
could
have
been
or
once
was.
Genuinely
intended
as
constructive
criticism
but
i
doubt
these
changes
will
be
made.
Greet
people
who
have
made
reservations
with
a
simple
thank
you
instead
of
just
saying
'name'
when
prople
arrive.
It
is
not
a
drs
or
dentists
so
no
need
to
be
clinical.
Online
marketing
suggests
a
warm
atmosphere;
this
is
such
a
simple
way
to
achieve
this
and
costs
you
nothing.
To
continue
on
service,
our
order
was
taken,
drinks
and
meals
served
but
no
one
checked
up
on
us
during
our
meal
which
is
actually
very
bad
form
especially
when
you
add
a
12.5%
service
charge.
Remember
though
this
is
discretionary...
You
do
not
have
to
pay
although
we
did...
Times
are
tough
for
this
sector.
At
weekends,
only
roasts
are
served.
We
ordered
chicken
and
beef.
Both
tasted
fine
but
not
what
was
expected
for
a
'european'
roast.
The
chicken
(and
roast
potatoes)
was
masala
spiced
and
the
beef
was
a
steak
cut
instead
of
a
topside
which
i
couldn't
really
tell
if
it
had
been
roasted.
I
make
a
mean
roast
dinner
so
wanted
to
be
wowed,
and
these
are
not
comments
of
a
personal
choice;
the
yorkshire
pudding
and
gravy
should
be
impeccable
and
they
really
fell
short.
If
you're
only
serving
roasts
ensure
you
have
a
herb
flavoured
chicken
and
roast
potato
as
well
as
your
spiced
version.
If
you
are
going
to
recommend
the
free-roam
chicken
dish
as
chef's
choice,
it
should
be
amazing.
Roast
chicken
skin
should
be
crisp
and
light.
Let
the
quality
of
food
show
not
ruin
it
by
spicing
it
or
at
least
not
the
outer
part
of
the
skin
which
leaves
a
powdery
unpleasant
texture.
The
gravy
is
below
par.
There's
no
arguing
this.
As
both
us
and
the
table
next
to
us
had
to
ask
for
more,
they
are
clearly
not
serving
enough
of
the
thin
watery
liquid
that
just
devalues
the
whole
experience.
And
at
£1
extra
per
pot...
You
can
afford
to
offer
larger
pots
even
in
London.
Or
perhaps
better
thicker
gravy
that
has
sone
depth.
Roast
up/
caramelise
some
carrots
and
onions
the
night
before
to
make
stock
for
the
gravy
and
dont
be
shy
with
the
meat
juices.
Chef
forgot
to
taste
and
season
the
gravy
clearly.
Our
meal
and
two
drinks
cost
£72+
and
really
didn't
meet
that
standard.
Had
to
speak
to
the
manager
about
a
hygiene
issue
and
she
redeemed
some
of
our
misgivings
with
her
genuine
approach
to
resolving
the
issue
for
the
future
which
was
related
to
a
new
member
of
staff.
We
won't
make
the
trip
again
but
if
you
do,
don't
be
intimidated
into
thinking
this
is
the
best
roast
dinner
you'll
have
for
it
can
certainly
be
better.
