Had the oysters on 30 January for lunch. Paid £7.5 for 4 medium oysters but got severe vomiting, hands numbness, chilling, lost of appetite on 31 January night. To be accurate, I vomited 3 times the whole night, woke up at 3:30am, 4am and 6am to vomit and sat down on the toilet floor with no energy at all after vomiting. I could barely walk. It’s a horrible nightmare. Had to cancel some important work appointments because of severe sickness. I have to emphasise usually even though I feel sick, I seldom call sick because that’s work, this time my body couldn’t handle it and I could not work so you can imagine how serious it is. I tried many oyster places before but not like this one, the most serious sickness ever. Read the reviews here and it seems I’m not the only one. Stay away from this place.

Visited Richard Haward’s Oysters on January 27th for lunch, only to suffer from severe vomiting and diarrhoea by the evening of January 28th. Myself and three others fell seriously ill after consuming oysters here. Our friends who did not eat the oysters did not experience any sickness, which strongly points to the oysters as the cause, along with the other reviews here. When reporting this to the food safety authorities on January 29th, their response, though prompt, was underwhelming. Despite our clear symptoms of food poisoning, we were informed that the establishment had received a 5-star cleanliness rating on January 24th. It's alarming that despite our report of illness and similar complaints from others, there seems to be no intent to re-investigate or reassess the safety and hygiene practices at this stall. The oysters were actually really good but 0/10 will not recommend. Nothing is worth being stationed in the bathroom from 2-5AM.

We had raw oysters at Richard's on Thursday 15 February, and we got super super ill with salmonella. It's the worst experience ever, never felt this bad from food poisoning. Vomiting, diarrhea, fever... We are still struggling a week later.

Hello Folks,  I Visited Richard Haward’s Oysters on January 31st for lunch , we were 4 people 3 we were sick just one friend she didn't eat the oyster, she was ok, she didn't feeling nothing. Just only us we consume, we  suffer from severe vomiting and diarrhoea by the evening of Febbrary 1st. Myself and three others fell seriously ill after consuming oysters here. Our friends who did not eat the oysters did not experience any sickness, which strongly points to the oysters as the cause, along with the other reviews here. About myself I started to feel tired, nausea, bloated stomach around 8:30, than I start to vomiting from 9:30 untill 4:00, I vomit maybe 24 times, I was exhausted, and I couldn't stand, my face was pale, and I have fever too, chills, and sweatting. Around 12,30 pm I decide to call the ambulance, and after that I spend 7 hours in the hospital, I have to cancell all my job appointment. So far I'm still feeling sick and weak. It's very worring so many people in google left a negative review here and were very hill. Don't eat this Oyster here,  please!!!!  This place needs to be shut down, we just eat 3 oyster each and was enough to feeling sick. I never felt so bad in my life and I'm still traumatized.

We ordered 3 medium rocks + 1 beer for £9. Topup another 8 pcs for 14£. Value for money. The fresh oyster was so juicy and full of the taste of the ocean. 5 stars There was a long queue to order. About 20 minutes queue time. Then we were facing another trouble to look for table. The cutlery and sauce was self service. It was not hygiene as it was not covered properly

Ridiculously affordable - and most importantly fresh! - oysters in London. A bit of a trek to get to Borough Market but well worth the trip for a plate or three of these. We found the small and medium sized ones the best while the large ones are too meaty and large for our tastes! We went there twice during our recent trip to London! Highly recommended.

They have the best oyster. And the price is nice too. I’m not a big fan of oysters, but I can taste the freshness in oysters. And it’s wonderful. I would recommend you get 4 oysters per person, and you can get a good try in different ways to have oysters.

I took advantage of a special offer at Borough Market for Richard Howard Oysters. I purchased a half-dozen of their medium rock oysters for just £11, and it was an absolute steal. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and their taste was exquisite. Each one had a perfect balance of brininess and sweetness, and the texture was delightful. The shells were clean and well-presented, indicating the high quality of the oysters. I was thoroughly impressed with the value for money that this offer provided. If you're a fan of oysters and happen to come across this special deal, I highly recommend trying Richard Howard Oysters. You won't be disappointed!"

The best one I tried here! There’s a bit of a long queue and so little tables (You have to stand by the way). Juicy oyster. I prefer the smaller ones and it tasted fresh in my opinion. Great place to try the ousters at borough market with decent price.

We were there on January 31, 2024 and everyone who ate the oysters contracted food poisoning, some more serious and others less, including fainting, vomiting and diarrhea. Only those who didn't eat the oysters didn't get sick. Everyone who contracted food poisoning ate 3 oysters. Checking the most recent reviews, almost all of them are negative and mention "food poisoning", which further proves the fact! Not recommended place!

I was showing my brother around Borough Market, the bustling foodie paradise in London. While we were weaving through the throngs of people, I noticed a long queue forming at one stall. Curious, I led him over to see what all the fuss was about. The sign above the stall read "Oysters." My brother had never tried oysters before, but he had expressed an interest in trying new foods, so I suggested that he give them a go. He agreed hesitantly, perhaps wary of the potential side effects of eating raw seafood. We placed our order and waited as the skilled oyster shucker worked his magic. It was fascinating to watch him pry open the shells with such ease and precision. Within minutes, we had a plate of freshly shucked oysters in front of us. The oysters were indeed fresh and delicious, and we added the various sause and condiment to give them flavor. We quickly devoured the entire plate, I'm glad that my brother took a chance on the oysters.

The handsome guy who handles the oysters and the girl who collects the money look cool but are actually very warm and gentle! The oysters are very fresh and with their onion sauce you'll be absolutely addicted! Highly recommend the largest size oyster. Also, we were visiting London and the restaurant is very Asian friendly~!

Having ordered a home delivery of oysters from RH before I knew they were good. But having them fresh from the stall was so much better! The staff were friendly, quick and efficient. There was a big line but they soon got through it. I’ve marked the atmosphere as a 3* only because the space is small and crowded. The food and staff were fantastic. Will be returning more frequently!

I have been here a few times now. And will keep coming back as my Love of oysters 😂 The size is depending on the day. My first time was great .. the medium size is good. But the last time I visited the medium was a bit smaller .. should have gone for largest .. still I love it here 😚

My absolute favourite place to get oysters. Had a dozen large, free flow sauces, tobacco and champagne deals are available. Lovely fresh, briny, generous, well prepared oysters. Fantastic.

Affordable and fresh oysters. Has a simple self service sauce station and standing tables for a quick turnover of customers. Serves wine or fizz to go along with the amazing oysters.

If you are an oysters' and clams' lover like myself and you want to find a good place to eat them in London, search no more! This place is truly outstanding. They have very high quality oysters and clams at asequible prices. Truly a place to enjoy when visiting the Borough market!

I can’t believe this place exists, they have the best oysters for the best prices! Really affordable and extremely fresh. You can also add shallots in vinaigrette and all kinds of hot sauce.

wanted to try this place so i got the small oysters first and they’re so cheap! £6 for 6 small oysters and they were fresh :) would recommend going for the bigger oysters though! update: we managed to get medium and the x large oysters! they were gorgeous. i think the medium ones are perfect because we struggled to eat the large oysters in one go haha (see photos of the oysters w their sizes M and L written!)

Went the first time and they ran out of x-large oysters! Decided to go back a second time earlier and managed to grab some of those x-large oysters! Probably the largest oysters you can get in town, super fresh, and juicy! Definitely worth the price you’re paying for!

A must have at Borough Market! The oysters are fresh and delicious. You can choose between the Mersea Rock Oysters or the Colchester Native Oyster. Tried the Colchester Native and it was fantastic!

For us , all was fine. We had a nice experience here. We ordered 2 pieces of large and 6 pieces of medium size. The taste was good , fresh and much better when we drink it with Prosecco. I would suggest to order medium size as it seems better.

Fresh oyster here is a must eat every time I go to Borough Market. £17 for 6 large rock oysters is a fair deal. Quality is still good, but I enjoy more last year.

I was very excited to try their famous oysters, but ended up with food poisoning with Norovirus. Please be aware when you visit. I had to cancel my plans and stay inside the hotel vomiting my gut out. Also chills and muscle pain. I had 4 large rock oysters.

This is probably the most affordable Oysters shop in Borough Market. Freshly shucked by order. Be prepared to line up. There are around 7 round tables for eating while standing and a side table for the condiments. We ordered the combo with a glass of wine plus extra order for the XL size Oysters. Total cost £16

I have been coming here for quite a few years. It used to serve bigger oysters. I guess the size of the oyster shrank a bit due to inflation. The picture I showed is the large size of oyster. You should order the extra large one if you haven’t had oyster here before. Sadly, the queue is slightly long here. You may need to line up around 5mins. But the oyster here is so fresh, you would enjoy them a lot with such a cheap price.

People always queue up for the oyster here so I decided to try their oysters today. I had 6 of medium size oysters for 9.50£. It was a reasonable price. The staff are nice, they also have a table for you which is more convenient than holding a plate while many people walking around. However, I didn't like the taste of oysters here maybe I will come back to try another time.

6 small pcs for 6 pounds, i think that is very good price in Borough Mkg. Recommend to go on weekday, it should be very crowd during weekend. Oysters are fresh and sweet, they have free lemon and home made vinegar for dipping. I recommend the best taste without any dipping. The remark is that there is some sand in the oysters, that you need to carefully taking out, otherwise it ruins the feeling of taste.

I was poisoned. My husband and I had two plates of oysters at this restaurant, and that night we experienced vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and stomach pains. It took three to four days to recover. Friends around me who ate there also had the same issues. Not only did this place have terrible customer service, but the food was also contaminated. It's simply a despicable establishment. I have reported it to the Food Standards Agency in UK. For a renowned tourist market in the UK to harbor such unscrupulous businesses is fraudulent to tourists and disgraceful to the UK. Foreign visitors might think we not only lack culinary diversity but also have very low hygiene standards.
