Katherine was our server last night and she was fantastic. Unfortunately for her there was a rather large brash family that complained about the time it took for service of food. We arrived the same as them and was served the same time and we felt it was absolutely brilliant service (some people just like to moan) however all in all the food, service and total ambience. Katherine deserves recognition for her exemplary service. Thank you Katherine for making our London stay brilliant.

Pizza express was a great spot for a quick lunch. The food is fresh and came out fast. We started with the dough balls which came with a delicious garlic butter to add it on the rolls. The pizzas themselves were cooked perfectly and a large is a good size to share if you also get a salad or something on the side. We got the sloppy Giuseppe which had a good number of toppings which were all tasty. The gluten free pizza is celiac safe, as they have a separate kitchen where they make the pizzas. They come out on stone slabs to show that it comes from the gluten free side of the kitchen. We had the margarita and pepperoni gluten free and they were both good!

Ordered 4 pizzas to go, they didn’t cut any of them which is brutal when you get to your location to realize it. The crust was the floppiest I’ve ever had, just a mess. Won’t order from this place twice.

Delightful experience! Had a lovely waitress called Rosa, who was very friendly, energetic, and extremely helpful in recommending good vegan options. Food and drink arrived quickly, and was perfect! Amazing experience overall. 12/10 would recommend to a friend.

It hits the spot, good service. It reminds me of Mod Pizza back in the States, but with a softer crust. This is a pretty good value if you're a tourist and looking for a place that isn't super expensive. Crowd was fun. Only complaint is our pizzas weren't cut into slices, so we had to make due with a knife and fork. Is this the norm here on this side of the pond? If it is let me know and I'll add another star. (Update: not slicing the pizza here is the norm, so one star added back.)

Great service - gave us a menu with no calories on it on request - and food came quick! Wasn’t blown away by the “Beetroot Buddha Bowl” but it is a pizza restaurant… The dough balls with garlic butter are, of course, always to die for, but the new ones with pesto aren’t as good. It’s a lovely spot, albeit expensive, and I would recommend.

Went for a meal around six pm before going to the theatre. It was very busy inside and we could see that the staff were under pressure however the wait for our food wasn’t too long, maybe 10 minutes longer than you’d expect but it was peak time on a friday so not too bad. The food was lovely and the staff were very kind and helpful. We were seated 5 minutes after queueing to get in and had our orders taken quickly. Must say if you have never tried them you must get the pesto dough balls!! Absolutely delicious, although they could’ve been a little more generous with the amount of pesto topping.

The server Rosa took a very long time to take our order and proceeded to take a tables order that was seated near us who arrive 10/15 mins after us. She seemed agitated at their table when they were asking about the tomato base used on the pizza, for allergy reasons. Once we managed to get her attention I politely asked if we could order mains with our drinks order she barked and snapped “well yeah, so do you want any drinks then?!” Which we proceeded to give the order where her attitude continued to be sour and snappy. If we weren’t hungry we would have left there and then. She left a drink off the order so had to wait further for that to be corrected. The people who brought the food out seemed lovely and the food was good, admittedly my pizza could have done with a couple more mins in the oven but that’s a personal preference. Rosa took the bill payment and if we have anything planned after which came across very uninterested after hearing her argue with a colleague that she needed to leave before 8 to get a train, but her shift finished at 8 so had to stay. Ultimately the food was good, however the atmosphere and experience was very off putting and offensive and won’t be returning soon unfortunately.

Really enjoyed my dinner at Pizza Express. We had a lovely waitress called Rosa who made us feel welcome from the beginning. She was very helpful answering all our questions, we were with a friend who was gluten free and she helped us understand what she could and couldn't eat on the menu. We were also sat quickly and the service was very fast. Overall it was a really lovely experience, the food and service were good. Would recommend to anyone for a speedy meal before a show!

We had been over in Covent Garden and needed a bite to eat before heading out further. Now it would be unusual to leave a review for a quick pizza but as a group we had to say Catherine who looked after us made it a memorable visit. Pizzas and drinks all great and good value for London area but we all said that it sometimes takes just a little bit of good friendly customer service to make it a really good experience. Instead of rushing in and out we actually sat for a bit enjoying a drink and getting caught up with old friends. I hope she remembers her daft Irish customers and good to their word leaving her a personal thanks for looking after us on our visit to London.

Very upsetting. Not cheap and trust me you do not get your money’s worth… A slap in the face honestly… No sauce no cheese and not baked enough… honestly just tasted like a weird pancake… Super nice staff which is why it still gets 1star. The food however was a big doo doo.

We had a lovely meal here on Sunday, our first visit. We were very well looked after by our charming waitress. Our food was excellent and served very quickly. We look forward to returning again soon.

Lovely food and atmosphere. Had cannelloni that were extremely delicious and although the portion was quite sizeable ,had it all. My friend is gluten intolerant and her pizza was really good too. Will definitely comeback when in the area.

Tasty pizza but the server was very rude when we asked for water then again when we said we didn't want to see desserts. I was about to ask him for the coffee menu but he didn't give me a chance. Forgot the table next to us drink order so had to remake it, then when we asked for the bill he didn't give us a chance to even look at the bill before putting the card machine right in front of me. Watching us the whole time we did the payment, including when clicking yes or no for the tips (I don't personally like doing tips via card machines) then seemed annoyed when we asked for the toilet. Ruined the whole, otherwise lovely, experience.

Mixed review. Visited on a busy Saturday evening, lots of people out for pre-theatre food. Seated downstairs, much quieter than upstairs. Order taken and everything arrived very quickly. Mains came whilst I was still eating my starter. Biggest issue was the salads we ordered. We each ordered the same, Pollo Milanese. It was listed under the salads section, price was £16.45. It arrived: one big piece of breaded chicken, a small pot of pesto and a tiny handful of rocket leaves. Where is the salad, we asked? The waiter explained it isn't really a salad and that the dish is correct. It was also missing the slow roasted tomatoes. We had expected a base of leaves, with sliced chicken, tomatoes and rocket scattered on top. Most bizarre. They asked if we wanted a side salad to accompany which I asked to be complimentary. Tasty food, quick service, but that dish really needs looking at!

Lovely dinner for 7 at St Martin’s lane Very busy restaurant. Sat downstairs where there is plenty of space for large groups. Toilets were a bit of a mess and could do with some attention . Food was as expected for pizza express, lovely pizzas. Desserts and cocktails were great too. The best bit was the service from Andrea. Such a lovely person who really looked after us and was super friendly. 5 star service.

Vibrant place and very good option for family meal. They have gluten free option and nice team. We did not have reservation but the manager kindly seated us and we had a wonderful dinner during our visit in central london. 5star service*

Booked a table to ensure we could be catered for between seeing 2 shows and Adam the Manager was so friendly and helpful throughout our meal. Our waiter (apologies didn’t make a note of his name) was such a happy fella. Food was delicious and tummy’s were filled. Definitely have been to this restaurant before for a previous show seen and would definitely come back again, after booking of course. Keep up the great work!

The food was great. The waiting time was short. If you are undecided between 2 pizzas, then try the Duo Romana.

Excellent service by Magda on Tuesday this week. Very welcoming, knows the PE menu thoroughly (even dishes that used to appear and advised how to re-create), extremely professional and was so positive even on a very busy night. The manager also cheerfully accommodated our seating request. Cannot comment on the other staff but Magda def deserves a shout-out - thank you MAGDA!

I usually love the central London pizza express restaurants. However, this one seems just too busy to cope. The food was lovely, and our waitress was fab too. But before she'd arrived on the scene, the other staff were just a bit stressed and not very efficient. Ultimately it went pretty well. Pizzas are getting expensive! Roughly £14-£18 each (obviously plain Margherita is a bit cheaper).

During a solo business trip, I turned up for a quick pizza after watching a film. There were loads of people in the restaurant and I had asked if I could eat a pizza quickly at a table making sure I was out before everyone else left. I was told that I couldn't stay. It was a shame as I've normally had really good service. The pizza came really quickly by 10:10pm.

All the food we received was cold… I walked to the toilet and saw about 5 different dishes sitting on the side ready and when I returned they were all still there nothing even keeping them warm. Our dessert and drinks took 25 minutes to arrive whilst all the servers where standing around chatting to each other. Overall it was a bad experience for us. However I like to think this is just a one off.

We visited before going to the theatre. We had 1.25 hours. We checked it was enough time to order and receive and est the food. The service was very slow. It took 35 minutes for the pizzas to arrive. One was not quite cooked and instead of putting it back in the oven for 3 minutes the chef insisted on making a fresh pizza. This arrived 15 minutes later leaving only 25 minutes to eat. The pizza was delicious but the service was not what I have come to expect from Pizza Express. The restaurant was full. August, school holidays, lunchtime, all played a part. But there were not enough staff. Bad capacity planning for this busy restaurant in a busy location.

I went to this place a month ago now, and I gotta say it was a really good place to dine with my friend! The service was a bit slow but worth the wait since the pizza was delicious. Only issue was the end when we had to pay, the workers did not seem to listen to the manager (I presume he was) and really much acted like they hated each other in front of us. An amazing place like this deserves good working environment.

Just had an evening meal at This branch. They were very quick at finding us a table without a reservation. Quick service from Andrea who made our meal very enjoyable. Pleasant lady very happy in her job couldn’t do enough for us. Was made aware of shortages of food before seating but didn’t really affect our choices. Only one complaint was the toilets. Very smelly and toilet paper all over the floor. Otherwise a very enjoyable evening after a fab day out in London.

Visited here for dinner, the food was good however we had to cut our own pizza??? Is this a pizza express thing? Having to sit there cutting a pizza on a plate too small with a rubbish pizza cutter really isn’t the best experience and literally just for that I won’t return.

Wow! Adam, Andrea, Yash yozlem and team. What an amazing evening. Came across this welcoming restaurant with family/community feel by chance while walking around and will forever be returning. Not only is the food stunning as you would expect from the high standards of pizza express but the team make this site worth visiting! The synchronicity and speed of service of the team balanced perfectly with a relax flow for the guest .. A must visit!

I have to say, this was the worst service I have been subjected to. The manager on the night I attended treated me very differently from other people who came into this establishment. Finally sitting at our table we waited patiently for a staff member to come to our table which was not hard to miss, other tables were being attended to while my table was ignored it got so bad that I made my way back up the stairs and spoke to the manager explaining how very differently we were treated, and I was beyond offended and upset. Granted the staff were working extremely hard however being ignored is not something I can accept. The pizza finally arrived after over an hour waiting however we waited a very lengthy time for the plates and the pizza was cold that another one had to be made, the pizza was not nice at all, the middle of the pizza was slimy to the taste but we were so hungry we eat it, if I could have had the option not to pay I wouldn't have because it was not nice at all, hardly no meat on the pizza all that was on the pizza was tomatoes and peppers. I am so saddened to leave a negative review.
