Today - 26/2/2022 - Saturday. I went to this restaurant to have oyster omelette on my own. Having good intentions of taking some photos to show it to my friends to recommend them to this restaurant and to post on here as well for helping others as well. I was was shocked & shaken by this very bad customer service experience. I never had in my life. I am 65 years old I was taking the photographs of the food that has been served out. With placing the menu with the restaurant's name on, this girl came over to me in a very rude manner, not once, but every few seconds to harassing me of taking the photo. I explained to her that by my taking the food photo is for recommendation as she can Google search me of all the food reviews I had made over the past years. She refused to listen. And continue to be very abrupt, rude. I demand to speak to the restaurant owner. She refused & said boss in not in. Her attitude was so intimidating until I qanted to call the police. I left with no choice. I had to take a photo of her for my own security purpose. Sorry to say. I need to post her photo on here. In hope, the owner should looks into this matter on her attitude and her customer service before she ruins the whole business. I don't recommend this restaurant anyone and definitely not going on your own. Who knows. One day, this crazy girl would beat up a customer. Or spit saliva on customer's food. Beware. Completely no trust at ALL. I guess, I am not the only one who has given bad reviews to this restaurant. Many has been experiencing bad customer service etc. 👎👎👎👎👎

Small no frills restaurant, tight for space, sit on hard stools, in and out pretty quick. Interesting food worth a visit, around 50 notes for two including two teas costing a fiver eachk Will pop in again and order the pigs trotters!!

As a Taiwanese, their food doesn't really taste like home to me at all. Quite disappointing. Feels like the owner was someone who had been to Taiwan and trying to recreate the food. The dishes look authentic but fail to taste so. The only authentic item is the soya milk which they make themselves so that explains 😂 If you've never been to Taiwan and fancy some "exotic" experience then I'd say go for it, but if you're looking for authentic taste this is not the place to go.

Great hearty food which hits the spot! Ordered several dishes and each was great and seasoned perfectly. The fried pork was a little dry but everything was on point. It's a little tight in spacing and lack of modern interior but the food makes up for it. Cash only and the prices are slightly higher then on the menu photo on Google review.

Poor food and poor service. Taro Bubble: The bubbles are very soft... It's like those kept for too long and half way melted away. The drink was prepared with food coloring. Definitely without taro... Disgusting. Oyster Noodle: taste a bit sweet... quite weird... Staff are very rude to rush us to finish and pay. Totally disappointing experience. Won't go again.

Highly recommended if you wanna come here, DO NOT come alone. There has so many foods on the menu that I really wanted to eat, but I was alone… Very authentic Taiwanese taste, and lots of opinions which are truly from the Taiwanese night market culture. The store is not very big, and there has no too much excessive decoration, but very intimate to Taiwanese. Foods are tasty, but I’m not so sure is that reasonable to be this experience because of the CPI (consumer price index) is very high in London? Normally I probably just need to pay around 6-10ish pounds for what I order in Taiwan. Anyways, if you’re Taiwanese who lives in London, and you do really miss your hometown, this one is the MOST TRY.

You can find a better restaurant in London with the same or lower price. The beef noodles are just so so. They use the cheap noodles that you can buy in the supermarket instead of hand rolled noodles. Also, the portions are small. With the service charge, a bowl of noodles goes for up to 15 pounds. But there are only two pieces of beef. Most of it is soup. If you want better hand-rolled noodles, there's a cheaper option and better one less than 10 minutes' walk from this one. I won't say the name to prevent the suspicion that I'm advertising. And, the most irritating thing is the quality of service. I went for dinner on Tuesday. The waitress was staring at me the whole time. When I put down my chopsticks, she immediately took the bowl away. If you want a service that is worth the service charge, don't pick this place. Also, they only take banknotes and don't accept credit cards. All in all it was a very bad experience. If you want to try Chinese noodle dishes, I highly do not recommend this place.

Absolutely delicious spicy Taiwanese beef noodle in soup. It was quite spicy but tolerable. The pork was super tender and full of flavour. The soup was quite oily but I did not mind that. The place is cash only.

Nice cozy settings but overpriced with the portion served especially the oyster thin noodles (meeshua) that costs £13.50 with 3 pieces of tiny oyster and the one sausage that costs £9.5. The picture on the menu of the sausage is very misleading as many would have thought it comes with braised eggs. Fried chicken breast rice was okay but would appreciate more if the rice is not just half portioned.

To be honest, when I read all the comments, I hesitated before I went in. However, I was really surprised after I have tried by myself. The food quality is really good, they are delicious. I love the oyster noodle with soup and the braised pork rice. HIGHLY recommend the ice black tea!! I saw people comment about the price, tbh, yes it’s not the cheapest, but they are nearly the only Taiwanese restaurant in the centre of London, I don’t expect it will be the same price in Taiwan. But I do agree if £5 for the ice lemon black tea, can have slightly larger amounts. Overall, good experience, I even ordered a take away home for my dad to try!

Old Tree in London's Chinatown is my go-to spot for amazing Taiwanese food. It's a laid-back place where the dishes always hit the spot. Think flavour-packed, homestyle cooking that's seriously good. Yes, it's cash-only, but who cares when the food is this tasty? It's the kind of place you'll want to keep coming back to, just like I do. Whether you're a Taiwanese food newbie or a seasoned pro, you're in for a treat. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you! 🍜🥢

Had a great time here! Most dishes were great but was a little disappointed with the oyster thin noodle soup. Will still come again for the delicious braised pork rice!

Found this place unintentionally. We were going to another restaurant but it was full, so we were strolling around trying to find a new place. It was a great discovery! We didnt expect much, but the food was veeeeery nice. I've been to Taiwan, and the food there was a bit bland to my personal taste, but I loved the food here! It was very flavorful. The fried chicken was banging! Highly recommend 👍 The noodle dish had rich soup, and the beef was tender. The bun was great. The bubble tea was not sweet, which is nice (it's very sweet where I come from). I was surprised to see that the rating for this restaurant is only 3-ish. The staff was nice. They were not all smiley but were polite. The downside is that the venue is quite small and they dont take card payments. But can pay in cash (pounds or euro) or bank transfer *Edit: Forgot to mention. We paid 35 pounds for 2 people. The noodle dish we shared was big. I believe I couldnt finish one bowl by myself.

While the Sichuan Beef Noodle is spicy and quite authentically tasting, its portion and price don't seem to be a fair match. In addition, this shop is cash only, so be sure to have enough cash for your meal there.

Cash Only restaurant and regular favourite. Great food, cooked fast, at reasonable prices in a lively venue. Compact seating means its intimate. Taiwanese Salt+Pepper chicken is so light and delicious. Great broths and noodle dishes too. Unfortuantely the Spring onion pancakes are on menu, but sadly never available.

Eventho the place is quite small, but the food was amazing. Will definitely be back again. The dry noodle was so great not too heavy and not too salty, the turnip cake was crispy outside and soft inside.

The food is so tasty and good value for money, the noodles were rich and so tasty. servers were so nice, explained the menu to us and even made sure to ask about our dietary requirements. Everyone should come here and try!

I had the Minced Pork and Flat Rice noodle soup (original) and the flavour was good. I wish I had gotten it spicy! The Iced lemon black tea was lovely and tart. Only issue was they didn’t have a card machine to pay.

I'm so glad my friend recommended this restaurant to us. It's a small restaurant but produces highly flavourful, good quality Taiwanese dishes. We had the salt and pepper porkchop rice (I loved the pork and mushroom sauce over the rice), sweet and tangy ribs (a must try), Szechuan stew of pork intestines and stomach (seriously tasty - and no offal aroma), the fried French beans (I have never eaten a tastier vegetable - the chilli, garlic, shrimp mix it's stirfried in is delectable), Taiwanese sausage (I was genuinely not expecting to like this THIS much), and spring onion pancakes (I loved these). I'll definitely be back. My only criticism would be that the dish sizes are a little small, but perhaps I'm used to family style dining whereas this place serves individual portion sizes. Next time I'll try the dandan noodles and the Taiwanese beef Noodle soup with tendons.

Food was really great. Staff was nice. There were some commercial talks when you ordered but it was kinda fine. Their braised pork rice was one of the tops in London.

When we arrived in this restaurant, there were very few customers so that I was sort of concerned this place wouldn’t be good. But it was just an unnecessary concern. Once we took a seat, many customers came in and eventually the place was full. I ordered pork belly noodle which tasted amazing. I am not from Taiwan that I don’t know the authentic food honestly, but this dish was absolutely delicious. And in this cold weather, it helped my body warm up. I’ll be definitely back here.

Perfect hole in the hole restaurant Definitely try their intestine broth - it's very meaty and spicy! The only downside is the cramped space, people next to us had to move their seats and table to let us out

I’ve heard about this restaurant from my friends, and have always wanted to try it out. I am not disappointed at all after visiting today. The food matches my memory of Taiwanese food from home.

Absolutely delicious! And the owners are so nice, as the tables are outside on the pavement they take bags inside to store them safely for customers. As for payment, you can now pay by bank transfer so I was able to enjoy the meal without using cash. The food is delicious, authentic Taiwanese, with generous portions (I had to pack half of my soup as takeaway, it was so big! Very tasty heated up the followingday at home :). I'll definitely be back, want to try the dishes I saw at other tables, they all smelled so delicious too.

From their menu, I saw that braised pork rice is only £6.5, so I decided to go there. However, when I went inside and placed my order, the waiter told me that £6.5 was for a small portion (probably 3 mouthfuls), and I could order the large portion for £12.5. I asked if it was mentioned on the menu, and she said it wasn't. I was truly speechless, but since I was already inside, I didn't want to leave, so I reluctantly ordered the large portion. The taste was average. When it was time to pay, the cashier said they only accepted cash or WeChat pay, and then she actually charged me £13.75! I was truly at a loss for words; they even added a service charge for accepting cash. This restaurant is bound to go out of business sooner or later.

!!! DO NOT COME!!! Staff is extremely rude. Very poor customer service but charged extra 10% which does not even worth a penny. Disappointingly small portion - I ordered beef braised noodles and I only got 3 tiny bite sized beef???
