Great pub with multiple levels (recommend the lowest - pub level). Ordering through QR code is great. And it was fast! Fish and chips were delicious - very crispy. Big size is enough for two. Top spot - fully recommend. And good price.

After staying across the street for a week decided we had to stop here for a meal. We called ahead to make sure a reservation wasn’t required but the number listed on the Google Maps & Website said it wasn’t a working number. The environment once inside just as you’d imagine, having a bit of a pub feel inside as there is one downstairs, it was nice and lively which added to the atmosphere. The restaurant is up, which was quiet and quite empty save a table with a couple. We sat next to the window and the waitress gave us a few moments to check out the menus. Steak & Nicholson’s Pale Ale Pie; Beef cooked in Nicholson’s Pale Ale, encased in shortcrust pastry. (Awarded gold at the British Pie Awards) And Baked Macaroni, served with garlic ciabatta bread. With a touch of salt and pepper added the meal was tasty, warm and a great last meal for our trip in London. As we sat the room filled quiet a bit tables with families, perhaps co workers again adding to a great atmosphere not to quiet but not like downstairs.

I’ve walked past this place on so many occasions and have been put off going in because of the rather brutalist concrete façade, when there are so many lovely traditional pubs within a short walking distance. What I forgot, however, is that it offers excellent, elevated views across the river to the north bank, and an outside terrace. A good selection of real ales and the typical Nicholson’s food menu, but the views definitely compensate for the exterior and lack of history.

So my first Christmas in London with my new employer and what better i can expect. The restaurant is located at the very heart of the London, walking distance from Blackfairs underground station. I would suggest if you have time walk on the bridge, you have nice little spots to sit and enjoy the scenic view as well. The restaurant offers a great view of Thames river, The shard and some other attraction as well. The food is great with nice drinks. Must try restaurant in London.

🚇 Southwark 🍺Amstel ❤️ Dogget’s Coat and Badge is an architecturally unique pub with great views across the River Thames. . I visited here to watch the England v Germany game and was lucky enough to get a table. My other half and I were met at the door to check in and we were shown to our table by a really nice member of staff. We sat in the covered area of the beer garden which had a great view of one of the many large screen TV’s dotted around the pub. We were starving, so we ordered some food with our drinks and went for 5 plates of bar snacks for £24. The food was really tasty and filled us up in preparation for an evening on the beer watching the game. The atmosphere was great throughout the game and was made more memorable with a win over the Germans. Even though I was wrapped up watching the footy, I couldn’t help but notice how amazing the service was here. The guys here were absolutely all over it, working under immense pressure going from table to table making sure everyone was served. . When I look at this pub, it’s very difficult what to make of the buildings brutalist architecture, but the longer look at it the more like it. I must admit, prior to coming here I had envisaged an over priced tourist trap due to its location, but what I actually found was a really great pub with excellent service, serving decent beer and food. . 📊 Information correct on visiting 29/06/21 .

Sorry to mark you down based on food. Guys behind the bar were absolute stars. However, the food is overpriced and so little. Particularly the vegetarian pie. Have you ever seen a pie and mash?? I was still hungry and the broccoli was cooked in animal fat!! Come on chef 🤦🏻‍♀️ great location, but get real with the prices. The only reason I might consider to visit again because of staff and won’t be eating here, ever 👎🏻

A very nice and relaxing place to go. Right in front of the Thames, enjoy the beautiful view with some nice drinks and food. Everything is spotless, well looked after, and there is this waiter, which I don't know his name, but is a guy with curly hair; this guy is so nice, friendly, attentive and made me feel very welcome, love it!. You can order from the bar, with the lovely waiter or scanning a barcode wich is on your table. Cheers! 🍷🍸🍹🍺🍻

Great beers and drink selection. Cold, fresh. I ordered the chicken, avocado and bacon salad with was fine. The chicken was hot and tender, it was good. The service was slow, it took about 45 minutes for our food to come out. They were busy so I'll give some grace. The bartender was very friendly. We ordered food from our table which was convenient. The building is old and rustic, like many other nicholsons pubs which I enjoy. It I'd a 4 story building and the entire place is a beautiful building with history. It is also in a beautiful and conveniently located area right on the river. I would definitely give this place another shot!

This is a nice Thameside pub. It can be overlooked due to the out of place 1970s airport architecture on the outside. On the inside it is a well appointed traditional pub. It can get busy and has a wide range of drinks, a variety of cask ales and all the latest microbrewery gins, ciders and lagers. They have a restaurant upstairs but also do an excellent range of bar food. You can sit inside in winter, though they also have an excellent rear garden with a summerhouse that can be hired for private events. The nicest seats are those at the front by the river, and the Thames side path. The toilets are a bit cramped though.

Good pub, currently undergoing renovation. Lots of beers on, although the one I wanted was off. There seemed to be table service as there were waiting staff wandering around but they seemed utterly perplexed when I tried to order some food, and it took about five minutes for them to find the tablet and card machine. My friend ordered at the bar in the meantime and had his food before I had paid. Lots of variety of food of whatever you can fit in a chest freezer. Schnitzel was quite hard but tasted ok with the garlic and lemon.

Wide selection of international and local beers! The food is quite tasty, especially the English classic, Fish and Chips, which was perfect. It's a cool place with a great atmosphere and lots of buzz. However, if you're looking for a spot to meet up with friends and have a chat, this might not be the best choice. Anyway worth to visit ! And after that during the night you should see the great view from the Blackfriars Bridge!

Get a window seat upstairs for a nice view of the river. On this occasion I was in a party of four, the meals were all of decent quality, although the veg was quite variable. The two pie eaters got different veg from each other, and my wife and I had sausages and mash, and got no other veg at all, literally just three sausages and a pile of mash, nothing green or orange. Minor complaint though, as the quality and quantity of food for all was good. Would definitely visit again. Service charge is pre-added so no need to leave a tip.

Great spot for a cold beer and fish and chips. Food came out quick, bar service was quick. Nice view right on the water.

These are some impressively sized pies! The main floor is a great pub for standing around and looking at the use of the River Thames, and the dining room is upstairs. The service was friendly, and I recommend any pie, and you’ll be pleasantly delighted by the generous portion.

Had dinner and drinks here, place was buzzing! Staff are nice and friendly and food is good. We considered going back because we had a nice experience. Only comment would be maybe to have toilets cleaned every now and then as it can get a bit messy.

An extremely pleasant pub with a more-than-average sized, fully covered beer garden at the back. Whilst the interiors offer the best of British pub cosyness, the beer garden features shared tables and benches in a more relaxed, hipstery environment. Food is very, very good. Burger was cooked to perfection and french fries were amongst the best I ever had in my life. Service is friendly and relaxed. Would definitely recommend it and would obviously would return if around the area.

What a gem, on the bank of the Thames near to Blackfriars bridge. Has 3 levels pub below, dining in the middle and an area to hire at the top. We had a pint before eating in the pub and it was quite busy but plenty of staff behind the bar which is a rarity. The food was great, very filling and very tasty, once again the waitress was lovely. Not that expensive which was a pleasant surprise. A very good experience and will be going again.

Third time I've been here, this place became my main option whenever a friend is coming to see me from abroad. The staff was extremely caring and nice and the Christmas atmosphere just so lovely. Food, as usual, abundant and delicious. A special mention to the white wine 19 Crimes Chardonnay. Thanks guys, see you soon!

Fun pub with a view of the river. Staff are a bit surly, lacking the traditional warm welcome you expect from London Pubs, but the food is good. Get the sticky toffee pudding w/ custard for afters! We had the Toad in the Hole, the Fish and Chips, and the Ham, Egg and Chips (all very delicious!)

When we can book a table in the restaurant area (one level above the bar) next to a window overlooking the Thames it is very special. The food was delicious (Shepherd’s pie, Fish pie and 2 x Aplle and blackcurrant crumbles). The drink was excellent too. The service was wonderful All round perfection. We stay in the Premier Inn Blackfriars 4 times a year. We used to enjoy our first evening meal in the Blackfriars Inn, but since we found that by booking in advance we could get a table in your pub, overlooking the Thames we prefer that option instead.

Reasonable selection of cask and keg beers along with the usual bar snack / meals. Friendly service... why not 5* ? .. simply because I got meat add to my Loaded Nachos, which was an additional £1 option. Being vegetarian for 40+ years, this is not a mistake that we would have made when ordering. When I pointed this out to the bar staff who took my order, they said that we ordered "loaded nachos" and the non meat one was simply called "nachos" ( the close up of the menu, clearly proves this not to be the case). They did offer to put things right, but to be honest we were really pushed for time and some of the party ate the meat, while I had a smaller lunch.

We stumbled upon this pub last week, we ate fish and chips and drank cider. The staff was lovely and the lady at the counter was very helpful with her recommendations. It was definitely not our last visit there, the service was perfect and the price-performance ratio is absolutely fine

By far the best meal I had in my 5 day trip. The pies are to die for and the sampler share platter is just full of different flavors and textures. Along with the pleasant bar and weight staff this location is a must stop at if you want a taste of London with great flavor and an awesome dining experience with a view right next to the Thames (inside or outside)

Location is awesome. In food chicken bites were over cooked and rest items were fine. Drinks excellent.

We were 6 people and they gave us the best table with the most amazing view of the river. Great drinks, fantastic food and the best service from both Charleigh and Viorella, who very patiently attended to our every need. And unlike some places, they did not hover over us, rushing us along. They made us feel like welcome guests. So I hope they get a free meal as a result of my review. Dear Doggetts, you should be giving free meals to your lovely staff anyway.
