The Common is a wonderful place for a walk. If you walk to the top you will come actoss a little cafe and the Rookery gardens. Early morning the gardens ars wonderful, full of birdsong, and squirrels scurrying around. A little piece of heaven

Fantastic place to walk and relax, a big expanse of common, nice woods, great Cafe, but best of all has to be the Rookery, lovely groomed gardens, what a beautiful place to just sit and relax, if you have never been I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised, they also hold musical and theatre events in the Rookery in the summer. There is a children's playground, a paddling pool, tennis court and lots of open spaces. If you like this review, can you please click the like symbol below. Thank you!

It's just like any large park and this one serves Streatham. Very good location with broad greens, children play centers, dog walks, running paths and last month there was a summer fair set up and the greens was so large it didn't disrupt any other activity leaving enough space for social distancing. It's a good place for picnics and I have seen football practice going on there on occasion so all in all, a good family outing option, outdoor exercise space or outdoor reading/relaxation spot.

Lovely green area in south west London. Mixture of common, playing fields, woodlands, trails, formal gardens, remembrance, cafes & play parks. Literally stretches for miles and stradles the Lambeth - Croydon border. Can almost get out of earshot of the traffic. A dog walker and jogger's paradise. Everyone I met was friendly and sharing the mixed use space sensibly and with respect.

Beautiful remnant of the ancient Streatham Spa and Forest. Well maintained Gardens (White Garden, Rock Garden, Wishing Well and trellises). You can forage blackberries and Holly. Safe cycling route for children and a paddling pool on the other side. There is a small sundial at the centre of the garden and a little fountain with goldfish. A beautifully renovated cafe serving great pastries, tea, coffee and food. There are no toilets around inside the Rookery. One toilet next to the café where you might encounter long queues. Scooters and bike are not allowed inside the gardens. There is also a community garden inside. Overall a beautiful scenic place to relax and bring children to explore nature.

Spacious common with a lovely oak coppice on top. Wonderful view from the top of the hill! The Rookery, nineteenth century planned garden well worth visiting, just a stone throw away.

I visited here in March 2022 as part of walking the Capital Ring. This is a large open space with some formal gardens and woodlands at one end, a large slope and space for sport, a playground and toilets.

The Rookery is a lovely place for a walk, some areas are not suitable for dogs but there are alternative routes around. Coffee shop backs onto the park area

Hands down one of my favorite places in Streatham so far. Lovely grass and quite some trees and flowers in the upper hill. A great place to enjoy a nice walk alone, with your families or dogs. While the streets of Streatham can be noisy with all the traffic, you get to enjoy peace and surround yourself with green nature by a walk of just a few minutes from home. Want to break away from work and pressure living in town, or just want to get closer to nature? No need to drive one hour to somewhere outside Great London, you can get it, well at least to some extent, right here in Streatham.

**Update** Scrolling through from Norwood grove, this common is actually really enjoyable and tranquil to walk through. I envy ( in a good way) the people who live by or near this common. Also, a good alternative for anyone who wants a change from Clapham Common. ----------------- Personally, I've only walked passed it once, and passed it on the bus many times. The view from the bus, especially if you're sitting on the upper deck is lovely, and appears to balance out the hustle and bustle of Streatham high street. Good place if you want to rest and recharge before or after shopping in the high street, or if you simply can't be bothered to go all the way to Tooting Bec or Clapham Common. I've also see more than a few dog owners walking their dogs, again possibly due to the calmness of the common, despite being in one of South London's busier towns.

You can enjoy here a walk, jog or any kind of group or individual sports activities but unfortunately the park is not well kept and sometimes is not secure, a pitty as it could be a great place all year round

Overall this is a five star stretch of common land as valuable as any other in London, but this review is focused on one small but important feature: the water fountain just outside the rockery. These photos are actually taken after a first go at cleaning the spout with a tissue. They don't do justice to how covered in tough black-green dirt this was. The spout itself being filthy surely raises hygiene issues? It's so easy to press the button, drink and not notice the dirt especially in low light. Suggested solution: Could the parks team add a quick spray and wipe of the fountain to their regular maintenance schedule? Even just a quick clean would keep it safe to drink from. Not a solution: Please don't use this as a reason to shut off the fountain - that would be the wrong answer, people still need water.

A huge sloping meadow with a playground and toilet facilities on one end an a forest patch on the higher ground. On top, furthest away from the main roads, there is a botanical garden with a nice bistro: The Rookery Gardens. Most paths are paved. When it rains a lot the lower grounds become swampy. There's a major supermarket nearby if something was forgotten for the picnic.

Loved our evening walk in the park, ended up walking 5K, family friendly with a nice cafe tucked into the park and a safe area for all age groups. It has a playground for kids and pond full of beautiful ducks, quite relaxing. definitely recommend 👍🏽

We strolled, at gaudy Vapor trailed sunset, past the iridescent fun fair, permanently locked into a pastiche of the 1990s. The southern path, furthest from the noise and exhaust fumes of the two urban dual carriageways, sees impromptu family parties being held, with gazebos, camping chairs, food to share. Lazing and chatting in the luxurious ebbing heatwave evening. Like ‘76, the worn sections of the pathways lose their grass cover to the west and tear of joggers and walkers, then the bare clay beneath splits open as it is exposed to the overly hot, climate change heat. We sit at the top of the rise, and the plaque on the bench points out Rose Hill, in front of it St Helier Hospital, both barely visible now that the evening comes to an end and warm night approaches. I like this place.

Great green space to visit. Plenty of area to walk or sit and admire planted areas. Open areas for children to play. A cafe to stop off at for a tea, coffee or soft drink. Vat ride food menu. Lovely area to visit on a sunny day.

Love walking up through Norwood grove to the Rookery. Reminds me of my childhood. Always lovely to walk round the flowers, water features, Lots for the kids to explore down various paths. And of course a stop at the café for ice cream!

Deserted but it was almost around 7 pm that day and hence the quiet atmosphere. The platforms had places to sit but a very limited number. There were only around 15 people waiting for the train out of which more than half had to stand around. Rest assured it’s pretty convenient to get to central London or south London from here.

Took my great grandson to the swing park today. He loved it. Weather wasn't great but didn't spoil our fun. Lovely little cafe as well. Coffee very nice and quite reasonable. Definitely going back.

Beautiful, great space with lots of different aspects. Excellent playground, looking forward to the cafe opening again. Then there's the massive field, great for kite flying, and then the Rookery, what an amazing hidden treasure plus the great cafe there too! You have to go
