Rowley’s has gone downhill and I won’t be returning. It’s a shame because it used to be a reliably good meal. The quality of the steak was bad and overdone, service was poor as they forgot items, and they now add an automatic 15% service charge. £50 for steak and a coke. It seems the owners are cutting costs and it is really reflected in the experience and the food. Not sure when it changed but I would avoid eating here. Edit: the owner left a dishonest response. I made a reservation in person two hours earlier. If you want specifics, the napkin was dirty, the toilets were dirty, one waiter forgot the sauce for the steak and another waiter forgot to bring more fries after asking and taking away the plate. The burner was so hot it over cooked the steak so I had to cover the flame. I’m not going to complain to the waiter when the issue is fundamentally the ownership and frankly it’s embarrassing to complain in person, that’s why you can leave reviews on Google.

It was such a lovely night with Rowly’s. We ordered a Chateaubriand to share (with unlimited fries). It’s cooked nicely. I think the blue cheese butter sauce is a bit heavy but it matched with the beef pretty well. I’d suggest to provide a few sauces so that we could dip it into different ones to find our favourite combination. The service was exceptional. They were very attentive. I appreciated they constantly update us how long is the wait for the Chateaubriand. I think we could come back again with a group of six friends. I am sure we will have a good time here.

Unlimited fries are served because the entrecôte is minuscule! Good service but poor value overall.

Good place to relax over a good lunch / dinner. Not Michelin Star, 3 corse and wine for 2 about £150 but high quality food & service with an OK wine list. Must like it as been coming for 30 years.lovely and interesting decor. My latest visit in August 23 was slightly disappointing. Being on the slightly boring side we chose cod & chips again for a quick lunch, always had been just fish & chips . This time we found that new flavourings had been added to the meal which rather distracted from the natural taste of good fish and batter and should have been told prior to ordering. Do however try the Wairau River Sauvignon Blanc

Had read great things about this restaurant, so as we were staying in the same street we didn't want to miss a chance to try it out. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable when we asked them any questions and the atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxed and welcoming. It was busy but food was delivered quickly and we did not have to wait long at all. We had the rosemary baked camembert to start which was fantastic, and then the Chateaubriand which was cooked just how we like it (although if it was just for me I'd have had it slightly more pink). We even got a complimentary glass of prosecco. We will definitely return as had a fantastic experience.

Rowley's do excellent steak, that is beyond debate. Not cheap, but worth the money you pay. This was a Monday night so the place was empty but have been there at busier times when the atmosphere is livelier. Great place to treat yourself or someone you love to a well cooked meal.

We'd been meaning to visit here for a long time and we were thoroughly impressed. The decor is fantastic, the service is great and, most importantly, tue foid was amazing. We will definitely be making this a regular haunt. Oh I also liked the fact that, although it's quite fancy, it is not pretentious. Good wine list too.

Lovely, incredible food in a great location on Jermyn Street. But we keep coming back for the waiting staff. It has a lovely, family atmosphere.

Had a great night here. The restaurant is really clean and tidy. The art and decoration is very charming too. The staff are very friendly, approachable and well trained. The food was fantastic. One of the best steaks I have ever had. Top restaurant worthy of its place along London’s famous Jermyn Street.

I've been coming to Rowley's for over 35 years as the Jermyn Street location is excellent and the steak and chips and wine have reliably been good quality and reasonable value for the West end. I hadn't visited for a couple of years so I popped in for a late lunch with my wife after a little pottering around in the January sales and we were shown to one of the splendid window tables. The menu was pleasingly familiar with even some new additions and we selected Chateaubriand and a decent bottle. Perhaps is was the distance of the table from the serving area or perhaps it was a changeover of shifts but the service was slow and it was somewhat challenging to attract the attention of any staff. The quality of the meat was adequate and it was cooked competently but didn't really justify the price. Overall, a slightly disappointing experience and it may be a while before I return.

I’ve been dining at Rowleys for close to ten years now. Went in tonight (a Friday night) for the first time in a while at 7pm on the off chance of getting a table only to find the place oddly deserted - we were the only occupied table. The kind waiting staff - all very new - brought us water and the menu. On reading the menu it became clear why it was so quiet. The excellent chateaubriand which months ago had been £70 for two had gone up by £20, wine was expensive…and for what? New seat covers?! (which frankly ruin the look of the place). I know cost of living has risen but this would seem excessive. I love the steak here but it’s no longer the place to go for a consistently good fairly priced steak. We drank our water and left without ordering. Sad.

First time at the restaurant and couldn’t recommend it more. It’s a true hidden gem in the heart of London, which offers a proper authentic experience. The food and service was fantastic. I particularly recommend the entrecote steak with the house sauce and chips - it was superb and and overall great value.

What a hidden gem. A lovely restaurant with a great history and a focussed menu. Service was superb, and the wine list well worth a delve. We threw them a bit with some complex Martini orders which they handled well, and the steak was delicious.

My parents have been coming to this restaurant for over 40 years, and it is still a lovely treat. The scallops and the entrecote steak were delicious. Their signature roquefort butter is very good. And the sticky toffee pudding might be the best I have ever had! Overall a great place to go, and for such a central London location and quality of food it was a reasonable price. The service was also great and attentive.

I found it a bit overpriced for the meal. The steak was good, perfectly cooked and presentation was enjoyable. The chips were dull and no vegetables with our meal. My mimosa was flat. The table beside us had ordered after us, but received their food before us. The opposite table odered at the same time as us, and received their food 10 min before we did.

I love this place because this is one of the rare restaurant where you can have a conversation with your friends. This is not loud. The food is nice. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is charming. Good spot to catch up with friends

This restaurant is a jewel in central London! Have been coming for years and it is one of the first on my recommended lists. The chicken supreme, grilled on the table and with unlimited fries is my personal favourite, but the menu is great throughout. Stefania manages the restaurant perfectly and you won’t be disappointed by the attention to detail, always of the highest quality.

I highly do not recommend this place anymore. The old male manager treated the place like his own. But as me and my husband came back for a visit, we overheard the new lady manager speaking rudely to staff and customers. 0 knowledge in managing a restaurant. Although, food was great and waitresses were lovely.

We had not been to Rowley's for some years, but, when we had lunch there, it was just as good as we remember it. The chicken, chips and special butter sauce still delicious; the interior still splendid; and the staff were most friendly and helpful. Not cheap, to be sure, but for a special occasion, we did not mind. We will return!

Used to come here with my family for great service and great steak. Went last night with friends and this great establishment has unfortunately gone down hill. The steak is still decent but the service is severely lacking now - not their fault of course, but the waiting staff are pretty green. If you’re paying their pretty high prices you expect service to match it. Plus things like their famous unlimited fries are not what they were at all as other reviews have mentioned. Cheese and crackers were of supermarket quality. Cheesecake very average, was told it was made in house, not convinced. A shame

I visited today with one of my family, after an absence of some ten years, when I used to be a regular customer. Sadly, today was a disappointing experience. The place was virtually empty at 14:00 hrs, so there was no atmosphere at all. Service was slow, a forty minute wait for a single course, and when I ordered a second glass of wine, the wrong one was delivered after a twenty minute wait and two reminders. The staff were clueless at best, and when they registered my growing irritation, rather than seeing what they could do to assist, they simply avoided us. No salt and pepper were put on the table, and in the end, I got fed up with trying to attract attention, and collected my own. The only positive of this visit was that the fillet steak and chicken were both of their usual good quality.

Midweek business lunch, excellent service, great setting, food is top notch. Steak can be served when your own burner so you can cook it a little more if desired. A medium was ordered and was perfectly cooked so not required but some like the option.

Food was good but service was a little slow, we had to wait just under an hour to receive starters and then another hour after that for mains. We encountered a few issues; cutlery was missing for a starter course, our jug of water was forgotten, we ordered 2 MR fillets one of which came out clearly overcooked, and we had to remind them of the sides that we ordered but didn't come with the rest of the food. All the issues were rectified and a MR fillet was re-cooked. For an average of £50 per head I would expect a little better overall but the ginger haired waiter was great throughout.

Our last night in London and we visited Piccadilly Circus and stumbled across Rowley’s. It’s a charming, intimate restaurant. Great dinner and delicious dessert! Laura (our waitress) & the staff were kind and inviting.

Love coming here but I do not understand why the waiters do not get any of the 12.5% service charge that is added on to the bill?? Basically adding 12.5% tax on, seems very dishonest as you should tell the guest upfront none of the service charge goes to the staff. always take off and pay cash tip to waiter.

Possibly my favourite steak here? Though I’m not sure if it’s just the nostalgia. Great little restaurant and so picturesque. Try the chateaubriand! The steaks are always done right and while I’m not very interested in the rest of the menu, the sides and desserts I’ve had have also been good. Would have given it 5 stars, but the last time I was here, I was running a bit late and they were apparently a bit rude to my friend who arrived before me?? Very strange. But I do plan on coming back when I’m in the area again so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lovely place, excellent food and friendly attentive staff. We were there for a birthday and it was a great evening. Steak all round and couldn't fault it at all, served on a heated tray over a burner so we just helped ourselves and cooked longer if we wanted. Delicious.

Lovely restaurant in Piccadilly. Really enjoyed the chateaubriand steak! I can't wait to return.

Interesting smart restaurant in the old Wall's sausage shop! Beautiful original tiles!! Although a small menu, there is a mix of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. Good wine list. Lovely staff creating a very relaxed atmosphere.

Great steaks. Very efficient service. Not cheap, but quality food so can't grumble. Recommended.

Absolutely sublime evening at Rowley’s. The staff were delightful and attentive, and went out of their way to make it a lovely experience. The food was exquisite, we had the chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection (medium rare), and we made the most of the unlimited chips! Delicious desserts (panna cotta & chocolate fondant) and wine too. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!
