A real local treasure in the heart of the city. It's somewhere for local business people to meet, eat and drink during the week, as well as a vibrant, upbeat, buzzing bar and restaurant for anyone to frequent in the evening. Various different events happening over the weekend that keep the schedule interesting, make sure you look what's coming up and get a ticket. Couldn't be more complimentary of Tom, the GM as well as the events team including Eva and Zoe. A real pleasure to work with. The Buck N Bull Country Brunch is also simply epic!!!

An Unforgettable Misadventure at The Anthologist! If you're a fan of culinary chaos and enjoy playing "Guess When Your Order Will Arrive," then The Anthologist in London is your dream destination! My recent visit to this restaurant was nothing short of a comical calamity. Upon entering, you're immediately greeted with an air of indifference that's almost impressive. The staff, mastering the art of nonchalance, seems to be in a perpetual state of break. They've elevated not caring to an art form! The waiting game for drinks could easily be a new Olympic sport. By the time our drinks arrived, I had almost forgotten what I ordered. It's a great place to contemplate the mysteries of life, like "Why am I still here?" As for the food, calling it disappointing would be a compliment. It was as if the chef threw a dart at a flavor chart and went with whatever it hit, regardless of whether it made any culinary sense. Each dish was a surprise, not because of innovative cooking, but because you couldn't tell what it was supposed to be. In summary, The Anthologist is perfect for those who cherish low expectations and have an abundance of time. For everyone else, it's a humorous tale to tell friends about how not to run a restaurant!

Pretty nice bar. I only popped in for an after-work drink but there was a good atmosphere with decent yet unobtrusive music, a good crowd plus plenty of seating, and fast service at the bar. There’s lots of options depending on whether you’re in a big group, a couple, wanting to hold a private event or looking to dine so it’s very handy. Decor is good, all the seating is comfortable, including lovely cushions on the sofa style seats. A great option for a drink with a vibe!

Looks great and atmosphere is nice. The nibbles we got were good, lovely warm bread and you can see the kitchen and you’re thinking you are in for a treat but unfortunately the rest of the food was average. Pork burnt ends sounded so good but just came as flavourless breadcrumb bites. The salt and pepper squid lacked flavour as well. So did the gohan curry unfortunately.

Was walking from work with my colleagues and we saw this place. Looked so cosy from outside so we decided to stop by. Zak has greeted us at the entrance with smile and made us feel so welcome. He lead us to best table in the restaurant and talked us through whats available on the menu. Ive asked for a cocktail and he explained me and suggested me one on my preference. He served with White Russian which I loved its my favourite cocktail now. Thanks so much Zak, definitely stopping by again soon.

It's a very cute place with a nice atmosphere, the lights were low, which made it a bit romantic, but it's a good place for groups as well. I booked this place for my birthday celebration with some friends. The service was a bit slow at first, but the stuff were very nice. The food and cocktails were good and not too pricey. In the booking I said it was my birthday and they surprised me with a brownie and sparklers, which was a nice gesture. I liked the place and I wouldn't mind to go back again.

Nice place to stop in, great service and location, but I had an utterly flavourless burger for lunch so difficult to rate it well. Underseasoned, under sauced, dry, poorly assembled. Good chips, though.

We went here for my nieces birthday. It was soooo enjoyable, they had a gospel/ Motown band performing, and they were fantastic. I believe they perform every couple of months here. They had everyone on their feet dancing away. Lost in memories. The waitress who served us was very polite and patient. There were 11 of us dining. The food was just standard. I had the fish and chips, and it was ok. Others had the steak and some burgers, but we all thought the food was just standard. I will definitely come here again when the band is performing.

Lovely atmosphere at the Anthologist and busy even on a weekday lunchtime, and decor is beautiful. Service was understandably a little slow, so not the best place for a quick bite. Ordered the minute steak and crispy duck salad - both good. Salad was deliciously crunchy but a little overdressed (very sweet). Steak was excellent though of course not huge and almost £20 (London prices!)

It's a nice bar but another one of these bars that doesn't seem to welcome you too much if you haven't booked a table (and committed to a minimum spend). Met there for drinks after work and, as we didn't have a table booked, were made to stand whilst lots of tables were empty. They were still happy enough to take our money for drinks though.... Update: after reading this review, the manager got in touch to apologise personally for our experience and invited my team and I back. I will update the review once I have been back to visit.

Had a Breakfast meeting here recently and I loved it. It was quite convenient for the group meeting and the complementary food and drinks from them were great as well. I realized the restaurant was either run by the brand D&M (Drake & Morgan); not so sure about it but the Menu card had their inscription. Maybe I will ask about it when I go back because I definitely have to go back when I am in Central London. People asked about the place as soon as I made a post on facebook so I definitely recommend!

A brilliant afternoon. Food was very good. The band was really good and worth a visit. The visit was a Christmas present. I spent £ 80 to £100 on drinks and extra items of food for two of us. We will be returning

The staff here are incredibly accommodating and friendly. I've planned and hosted a few large gatherings at this venue and am always impressed by their eagerness to assist and ensure my guests and I receive the best service.

Came in for drinks as a large group. Bar itself is nice, has a lovely atmosphere and some interesting drinks. Cocktails are coming in at 12.50 or so and pints at 6.80, so definitely on the pricier side even for the area; definitely the sort of place for work night-out sort of vibes. Only losing a star as service was quite slow; I think they need a few more staff members, though we were there midweek to be fair.

I came down tonight with my family after my graduation - we somehow didn’t end up booking a table and it was 7 of us. Most of the guest at the table didn’t speak English so there was a little mix up with our order and the waitress that was serving our table was an absolute legend. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch her name in the end, but I hope that she will read this review and know what a superstar she was. The steaks that we ordered were also really nice! - cut and cooked really nicely! X

I had the pleasure of working with the anthologist at Gresham Street for my party, and have to say their organizational skills, in particular from Eve were nothing short of brilliant. From start to finish, they seamlessly orchestrated every aspect of the event, which everyone who attended loved. The attention to detail in planning, their flexibility and commitment made life leading up to the Barmitzva so much easier, especially in the run up to the day. The venue itself is fabulous and lends itself to this type of event - with separate areas for dancing, eating and kids entertainment. Everyone remarked how good the food and drink was, in particular the canapes. I highly recommend the anthologist for anyone looking for an outstanding event coordination and execution in a fab bar/restaurant.

Great location, feels newly decorated inside with a menu offering the standards (burgers, steaks, sharing plates, etc.) and the odd more interesting options. Staff friendly and reasonably attentive, without interrupting. Not too busy on a Friday lunchtime, but the service was patchy - it took forever to get the bill and pay, and we saw an order sat on the pass under heat lamps for ages.

Went here for a wedding reception with a 1-year old baby, who made a lot of mess. Despite this all the staff were attentive, friendly and genuinely lovely. Food was also fantastic! Next time we're in london we'll be coming back!

This is a local venue close to work, it has never disappointed. The food is really good, reasonable pricing and super fresh. I generally choose one of the specials and enjoy it immensely. Great choice of drinks, cocktails are a must. Beautiful venue, the decor is always so lovely and classy. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

The atmosphere and look was amazing , my team was suitably impressed, especially as they had no idea where we were heading for our Christmas lunch. the service was great , a little slow, but it was the season . food looked fabulous and tasted great ( sausage needed a little more cooking time ). We will return, thank you for an amazing time :)

3 for breakfast approx £70. 30th November 2023, Gluten free, vegetarian option very good. Salmon and eggs, and scrambled eggs on toast. Excellent attention at the table, very pleased with the service level. Having abandoned Browns due its all round decline, happy to now harbor myself here in the mornings for business meetings

Been in this busy city bar a few times but didn't know about the cocktail master classes downstairs. Worked our way though a couple of new ones for me; a French Martini and The Anthologists' own spin on an old fashioned. Both were excellent and our host was very patient as typically we just wanted to get on and make/drink them. Definitely a night to recommend.

Had an amazing dinner surrounded by fantastic interior design and we were served by superb waitress called Nichole. Thank you Nichole; you made our night spent in The Anthologist very memorable. So attentive, helpful and friendly. Because of you we will be back. Best wishes to all! Milena

This Gospel Motown experience was out of this world urban voices are so talented 🙌 beautiful place even the restrooms. The food was not to flavoursome though I decided to try the chicken and waffles but won't stop me going again. Service of the bottomless drinks was lovely

Only have dinner here if you have no intention of communicating with the people you came with. The noise and din was so excessive that my friend and I just had to quickly eat and accept that we would not be catching up with one another as planned. The food was mediocre but the waiter was friendly and helpful although will probably need hearing aids if he works there for much longer.

Food is amazing, the live DJ set is one of the best sets I’ve experienced in a restaurant setting. Zac the waiter was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. We are 100% going to return next Friday night, highly recommend!

Amazing choir. Urban collective made the day, Such a talented group of people. Great atmosphere, but staff need to manage the queue better. We queued for a long time (in the cold) to get into the venue and only just seated in time for the choir to start. Beautiful venue & food was good. Shame we had to chase the staff for bottomless top-ups & our welcome drinks. However, would definitely recommend and would definitely book again.

Organised a Corporate breakfast. The events team at Anthologist were fantastic. The feedback from the event was, the food was lovely, everyone received their correct order and the space was nice and private for this breakfast meeting. We will definitely be booking here again. Thank you

Came here for work event & the area they gave was beautifully set up but the Xmas dinner was pretty poor - turkey dry & most importantly the potatoes were slightly roasted but not well & parsnips, carrots, stuffing not at all - the dessert & starter were fine but main a let down sadly

Amazing service since we arrived, during the evening until we left! Everyone was looking after us with outstanding services in particular Raul who went above and beyond, checking if everything was ok from time to time. It was a our first time in the restaurant and we weren’t sure what to order, Raul suggested us some plates to share which were delicious! Definitely we will come back soon!

I had such a good experience here for our 10 year anniversary! The venue catered to my 24 guests so well and the food was excellent. Everyone was satisfied - will definitely be recommending this venue to anyone who wants a group booking as big as mine. Special shout out to Giulio who helped us with our booking and Vlad and Fabio as well for taking care of us and giving us some orange liqueur shots before we headed off!

I think that the food was tasty but the experience was not worth the price. We arrived at 9 and the kitchen was already closing so we had to order very quickly (I would suggest to come earlier). The atmosphere was nice but at about 10 they turned on all the lights and after a few minutes they gave us the bill to invite us to go away

I’ve been quite a few times and have never had a bad experience. The staff are super helpful and will do everything they can with a smile. Even the door staff are friendly! The atmosphere is amazing and the decor is stunning!! The food was great too. Ashlin was really helpful when we needed to change our booking last minute. I can’t recommend this place enough! (Apart from my sore head this morning 😎)10/10
