Such incredible cuisine 🌟 Profound flavours and luscious textures. I hadn’t tried Ethiopian food before and I’ve been MISSING OUT 🔥 Light yet complex, fresh with heat and spice - the stews are gorgeous and you scoop them up with my new favourite thing: injera - the flexible, light, sourdough pancake. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming and the prices are so reasonable. Get involved 💃🏻

Lovely place in Holloway Road. I visited for the first time this week after been living for many years in the area (not sure why I never did before- shame on me!) The decor is lovely, art pieces hanging from the wall, you can feel it is a place looked after with care and love. The food was ok. The started salad was a bit of disappointment as I couldn’t taste any spices on it but it was crunchy and refreshing, accompanied by warm pita bread. As main course we shared the veggie and vegan selection for 2 (around £28.00)- it was lovely, deep flavour with lots of spices and very filling- the Ethiopian beer was good. I will definitely come back and next time I won’t miss the coffee!

The food at this restaurant was so so good that it broke my heart that I was too full to finish it all! I hadn't had Ethiopian food for a while, and I'm so glad we chose to eat at Mesi's! We had the mixed veggie/non-veggie combo for 2 and everything was delicious! I can't wait to eat there again!

I took my mother here who is Ethiopian and the entire experience felt like home to us. The food was freshly prepared, the proprietor was the most welcoming and the atmosphere was reminiscent of Ethiopia itself. We shared a platter and two sambusa starters between 3 people and it was the most excellent. Only thing we didn’t have was the coffee but I would recommend anything on the menu.

What a fantastic place 🤩 Service is quite incredible. They treat you like a friend! And food is a dream. We ordered hummus that was a little bit spicy and so good. Also, we tried one option to share and try almost everything, which is delicious. 😍

This place is a hidden gem! The owner is so nice and friendly. The food is also delicious, it tastes like home cooking. This is my second time here, but I've only ever had the Mesi Combo (mix meat and vegetables) - it's only £25.95 for two people, which is really good considering the size and portion you get. I believe there is a meat only version of this dish and also a vegetarian one. The ambience is lovely, the toilet is clean, WiFi is fast and the food is also good! I think this is a good place for couples and big groups - I believe they do takeaways as well. The food is best eaten with your hands - I'm unsure if utensils are provided, but I'm sure they are if you ask for them! However, as the owner is also the only waitress of this restaurant, service can be a little slow, especially if it gets busy. I think that is the only downside - otherwise it's all good.

We spotted this unassuming restaurant whilst staying with a friend and decided to check it out for Saturday night date night. The service was excellent with a warm welcome and an interesting decor bringing Ethiopia to me. I’ve tried Ethiopian cuisine a couple of times and have enjoyed the communal experience of sharing a plate and eating with my hands. The food when it arrived was delicious and the sourdough flatbread that it was served on was easy to tear and scoop of the various dollops of lentils and vegetables (we’re vegetarian). The price was very reasonable and this is definitely one to come back too.

An amazing place: greeted with such a friendly smile and served delicious food, almost as if we were eating in someone's home. We also tasted four great Ethiopian beers and had a wonderful Christmas tea. A truly warm and fulfilling experience.

We had the vegan menu for 2. It was an extraordinary experience. The love and the quality of the food and the way is cooked, it all comes through in the food. Mesi is an amazing host and lovely woman. Thank you! The food is so abundant we couldn’t finish it, so she put it in a box for us! Definitely come and have your food here!

Lovely food, great service and awesome atmosphere. Would 100% come back. Best part - no cutlery needed at all. Just pinch the injera with you fingers and choose from a wide selection of dishes. Icing on the cake was the Ethiopian beers 😍.

I absolutely adore this place. Banging food, great service and the Ethiopian beer is unreal. I can’t recommend the platter more with the injera. I love taking people who have never tried Ethiopian food so I can see their reaction. I try to go as often as possible and the people who run it are absolutely amazing.

Love this place! The veggie/vegan sharing plates are so good (and I'm not a veggie). My only complaint last time was that they didn't stop me eating... there should be a rule like in pubs were they stop serving if you're too drunk...I was way too full :D

very good and authentic Ethiopian Restaurant. We decided to pay a visit to Mesi's Kitchen 2 weeks ago while on a trip to London. It's located a few tube stops out of Central London but worth the trip We took a combination platter of meat and vegetarian dishes. Everything was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I've been to quite a lot of Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants in Germany, London and Belgium and this one definitely meets the standard! The owner (who I think was Mesi herself) that night was absolutely lovely and very welcoming! She really went out of her way to make our dining experience a great one! Needless to say, I will strongly recommend this hidden gem in London!

I have been in Mesi’s Kitchen with my partner who is allergic to milk, Mesi was super attentive and advise on what to order. We had a Mesi Mixed Combo prepared separately with no milk on it for my partner. I can say the food in Mesi is one of the best I tried ever !! Soon we will come back to enjoy another of the many dishes from the menu.

This is extraordinary place. The lady owner is so welcoming and immediately made us feel like at home. We had a late lunch and, due to an odd time, we were the only guests. It added to the experience because we had full attention of the host. The food was so delicious that we cleared each plate before the next one arrived. Even my picky teenage niece commented on how delicious everything was. We shared a meat combo and had fish, which tasted incredible. All the atmosphere is very authentic and recommend this place to everyone. A special thanks to the lady host who shared some interesting anecdotes from her life in Ethiopia. A truly wonderful place!

"Why isn't this restaurant awarded a Michelin Star? It truly deserves more than a perfect rating of 10/5. Ethiopian food is one of my favorite cuisines, and this restaurant serves the most soulful food along with great homemade wine. I tried the "Mesi's combo for one person"; however, the portions were generous enough to satisfy two people..! The aroma and the first bite immediately transport you to Ethiopia :D Every dish had a unique taste and flavor, and even for those who aren't fond of veggies, this experience will make vegetables your go-to dish. I also loved the chicken and fish dishes. Additionally, the staff was kind and warm! I must say this will be my go-to choice for comfort food all the time. I can't wait to bring my friends along!"

Such a lovely place, intimate and tucked away. I love a restaurant that taps into the history of their cuisine, which really helps you appreciate the food that much more, which was delicious :) I'd definitely recommend the combo sharing platter.

great atmosphere! the vegan platter was delicious, the ethiopian beer was so good and so cheap. the restaurant is run by just two women and while it made the service a little slow, its a great spot to support!

Great Ethiopian food catering for vegans and gluten free options. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. If you call to make a reservation and they don’t pick up, insist. They even returned my call when I have up. Excellent place!

Always happy to go to Mesi's! The food is finger licking good and the staff very attentive and happy to answer any questions. You can see Mesi in the kitchen cooking everything from fresh and so focused on delivering quality with every plate, but sometimes sending a sweet and warm smile when looking over the counter. Highly recommended.

I have been eating here a few times. And it has quite nice food. Maybe one of my favourites is the chicken wrap. It is dressed with a very very good sauce. It is worth also to try the options that come on a plate, as they are quite big portions and very tasty too.

So we're both vegan and the options they had were awesome. We took a Vegan sharing plate at it came with ALL of the yum. We also had hummus and Azifa which is mashed lentils in the most amazing flavour. Staff were lovely and the space felt very welcoming but not at all showy. Just good food and good vibes basically.
