A simple pub and hotel in the heart of Paddington, on the corner of Spring Street and Craven Road. Plenty of beer on offer both from the keg and cask. This is a card only venue, cash will not work. Lovely people behind the bar, providing fast, efficient and smiley service.van enjoyable pint!

I went there earlier tonight for a team Christmas event. It was crowded, cramped and loud. The Christmas food menu was appalling and not even worth £10 let alone £30. We all added salt to our food. The deserts were shocking, extremely sweet leaving in any balance. They were completely unaccommodating when we wanted to change a dish. The pictures and reviews make it sound and look way better than it is. Drinks are extortionate. A Christmas cocktail which was sold as being part of the menu was charged as extra and £9 for one. The starter with salmon had a chicken shop garlic sauce that looked like a worm. Avoid I would say or just have the normal menu which looks better than the Christmas menu. The worst place I've ever eaten sadly.

Lovely themed pub, based on all things railway related. Very satisfying English Full Breakfast.....3 Eggs Wow!!! and all served lovely and hot 🔥. English mustard unavailable though which is a shame. It would be really nice to have that option as well as the French mustard supplied. 😋

Good location and food, however be very careful to protect your personal belongings. My backpack was stolen a few days ago from this establishment. On reflection and based on our own observations we believe that possibly it was assisted by internal sources. Be careful.

Food 4/5 Service 3/5 (we had to ask literally for everything, including cutlery, sauces, and even napkins, friendly place to visit during summer days but more employees on site would make the experience better, it felt that people behind the bar were very exhausted and would benefit from extra help. Also, the people behind the bar did not look really happy) Environment 3/5 (tables were not very well maintained, a table outside did not have all numbers) A good place to visit for a quick stop- drink/ food. The area should have table numbers on all tables outside to enable online ordering easier, and my score would be higher if the experience was enabled fully digitally (ordering part).

Terrible service. They told us they were going to take our order later because the kitchen was "overwhelmed". They were saying the same thing for a long time until the moment they suddenly told us that the kitchen was close. So, basically they were lying to us to make us order drinks without providing the service we went there for. This is not bad service, this is the category of a "Three-card Monte" place. I really hope places like this will go bankrupt soon for the good of society. Oh by the way, we were there during the grief of the British ruler Queen Elizabeth. While all the guests were silent and respected the two-minute silence for the queen, the people in the kitchen were very loud and having fun during the silence and the whole restaurant heard them. So, a special congratulations for that!

Lovely pub my wife and I have liked for a while. Refurb is nice but has kept the atmosphere, good range of beers/drinks and superb food. Please put the legendary chicken parma back on menu!

Me and the wife came to this pub in summer and we haven’t stopped thinking about it since. We both ordered burgers and each thought they were the best we’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, presented and tasting. It couldn’t have been better. As well as this the chips were immaculate; crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The service was also top standard and we were welcomed kindly and instructed politely on how to order our food to our table.

My family loved this hotel. The location is so convenient, yet the room was very quiet. There was a very low rumble of trains, but it did not disturb our sleep. We were able to sleep with a window open, which is nice. The room includes a kettle with coffee and tea, which is so nice for starting the day off right. The decor is pleasant. I will definitely consider staying here the next time I am in central London.

Love this little pub. It's a local favourite but you'll find everyone in there from locals to Bedouin en route to Heathrow just passing through. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Great pub staples and selection on tap. For extra bonuses sign up for the app and order on your phone. Go early as it can be tough to find a seat but someone will always help you out.

This pub was the first one we saw coming out of the station after missing the train and decided to have a beer while we wait. The atmosphere was good and the stuff helpful and the food looked good so a beer turned to 2 and we decided to have dinner. The food was really nice and we ended up missing the following train too as we were enjoying our time in the pub. Looking forward to missing my train again lol

Massive gnat problem. The food in the pub was simply fine. Nothing special. I would be willing to change my review if they can get their bug problem under control. There were so many gnats and fruit flies that it was hard to enjoy my meal or drink without one landing in my drink or food.

Nice pub and some friendly staff. 1 male member of staff was completely useless. He wasn't doing much and my table was full of salt. I politely asked him for a cloth to even offer to wipe it myself. He said he would come and wipe it down in a minute. I said thanks and returned to my seat. Only to see him pottering about at empty tables for another 15 minutes. With this I was not happy so I went up to the bar and asked another member of staff. A lovely young lady come and wiped our table straight away. Lovely service and not too bad prices. Just a shame about that male member of staff who couldn't care less about paying customers sitting on dirty tables! Visited on 09/01/23.

I had the Longhorn Pie, family had Korean wings and Haddock Fish N chips. It was delicious!! House ale and Orchard Thieves cider was good as well. I would recommend. Be patient and enjoy. It is not a rush/eat n go kind of place. But well worth it. We went a second time. I won’t change my first experience, but My second was not the same. Do not..DO NOT!!! Order the Long Island,it was just an 8oz🫤 coke for £8.50. The food saved them again. Delicious food. Service and drinks still nothing special.

From the outside it doesn't look must in its dark colour. But once inside great service. Greeted and placed no need to book. Served at the table I had beer bartered cod n chips with mushy peas oh yummy settled with 2 pints . Rude not to. Afters we had sticky toffee pud with ice cream , Mmmm, service was excellent, prices average for the area. This is how you start your afternoon out. Just a short walk outside paddington station to the right side.then into London grab a London cab(£20) into the city awesome

First things first its a card payment only establishment which I know lots of people don't like but no problem to me. Popped in as was in the area and having a wander as not been around there since 2014 and was exploring. Nice looking, mid to small size pub which I can only imagine would get really busy as they show sports, but wasn't too bad around lunchtime when I popped in. Nothing to shout about from my view but nothing to complain to loudly about either.

Had a lovely afternoon/evening at this pub. Food was great, very good value & huge portions for the money. Very friendly & welcoming staff, nothing was too much! Would highly recommend a visit when your next in or around Paddington!

An amazing place. Nothing is to much effort really made to feel like it’s your local. Rio is a massive credit to the team but all the staff are great. If in London this is defiantly a place to visit the food and service is A1

When you say your kitchen closes at 22:00 on Google and customers walk in @ 21:40 they shouldn’t say the kitchen is already closed. Especially when the establishment “closes” after 23:00, though I would imagine this is a suggested time as well. Other than that decent selection of beers.

I wish to give this place better rank but after refusing to give a promised ( I have a copy of correspondence) two invoices for a room I have no choice. Incredible, that stuff from one place can give you each other different answers and different promises. Edit: our first question before we made reservation (via booking) was if its possible to split the bills. If we knew that this brings so much trouble we would decide for other place. Especially we booked much in advance. After long, long email correspondence, we got finally bills with our names and addresses. Honestly, hotel is lovely, and all was fine till the moment we asked for separate bills. Hard to imagine that our request was so difficult and brings so much trouble in 21’st century. And sorry, but email contact was a mess. Anyway, I will change my review.

Great pub! They have tons of gluten free options and the staff are very knowledgeable. They assured me they use separate friers and take precautions. Would gladly come for a drink or a bite to eat.

Yeah really nice pub friendly staff, lots of places to find a table and even my Vegan girlfriend found food to eat. Obviously touristy due to the area but you've got locals in too which is a testament. Good on you

A nice pub and friendly staff, food was very good! Good pub grub. Perfect location to Paddington train station, literally opposite! Perfect!

Great pub! We spent our last evening here (from the U.S.) after a full day and loved the atmosphere. The fish & chips were great and I really liked the Timothy Taylor's beer too. Our server/bartender was especially good and checked on us a few times. He was great! Hope to be back again someday. Cheers!

First visit here with friends to kill time before train from Paddington to home address. Friendly staff, Strongbow cloudy was refreshing. Food that I noticed being served to fellow customers looked delicious.

Our waitress (didn't get her name), was amazing! She anticipated our every need, and was a delight. Food was great. Excellent atmosphere as well. Would return any day.

We had been walking all day, seen the changing of the guard. We were early for our train so we popped in for a pint and some chips. The pint wasn't impressive but the chips were excellent. Lots of people eating....looked like large portions alround!! Lady behind bar was good....Nice music...typical London pub really

Good location right next to the station. Drink and food prices are reasonable and staff are friendly. The interior is in need of a renovation. Also there were lots of fruit flies flying around which they need to sort out. Also the loos smelt a bit- so don't sit near them.

A must visit after your ride in from Heathrow. Very generous fish and chips. Bonus - they're gluten free! For those possibly concerned about the flavor, the fish is delicious.Top it off with one of their many gluten free desserts, including these tasty brownies. We visited several times during our too short visit to the UK. We will be back!

Quite good! Nothing too special but the food, service and atmosphere was definitely up there, compared to the pricing. Do recommend it, especially for those travellers looking for a quick, good and a little "more interesting" spot.

My first visit to this pub. Just outside Paddington Main Line railway station using the right hand side entrance. Very good choice of Cask and Keg beers. I was especially pleased that both Fullers London Pride and Timothy Taylor's Landlord were both available on pump. Both beers were excellently poured and tasted wonderful. Staff were friendly and efficient. Nice ambiance in the pub. Will definitely visit again.

My office is nearby, I've stopped in for a drink with colleagues a couple times. Nice enough, but this pub along with its parent company City Pub Group does not comply with Covid guidelines, putting customers and employees' lives at risk.

Nice pub in the heart of London that treats all its customers as if they're locals. Really friendly staff and good value considering its location.

  • 3/5 Chris C. 2 years ago on Google
The staff were friendly and it was a decent pub but you could see that this pub was very well used pub where people go to wait for their trains and their coaches quite sticky floors bit of a grungy pub really but overall it was alright I probably would only stay for one or two pints Max

Serves food until 10pm on a Saturday evening yet calls last orders just after delivering the food to the table. Explanation... 'only got 2 staff'. That's not really good or at all inviting. Such a shame because the staff were brilliant

  • 4/5 Ian P. 2 years ago on Google
Good food good service good price (for London). Korean burger is very tasty and fish and chips is good. Kids meals are available (when requesting) but did not appear on the mean we had.. I would recommend.
