Had a really fantastic Sunday Roast, big portion, really tender and juicy beef. Quite satisfied about it so I ordered a sticky toffee pudding to follow up, despite everyone else being full. However the pudding was stale, and tasted like the fridge. It was off-putting, but not nearly as much as the attitude I received from one of the staff. I told him the pudding was stale, and it really should not be served like that, all I got was a shrug and 'That's unfortunate'. The food was really not cheap for a pub, so I would really expect to be treated with a little more enthusiasm. (The other staff were top notch though to be fair)

I haven’t had Sunday roast for ages, I really enjoyed the 28 day dry aged roast Aberdeenshire beef rump, so tender and yummy. Also, the root vegetables are nice as well. The service is fast and friendly, I didn’t wait for long to get my food and drink. This pub seems popular in this area, there are many families having their Sunday lunch here. I took away one star becoz it’s a bit pricey for a Sunday roast, though the portion is big for me. Also, I’m surprised to find that they charge for service fee in my bill, never been charged service in a pub before…

I sat in here for a couple of drinks while I was waiting for a friend to get home so I could stay over. The drinks were great and the atmosphere was nice - especially outside. The 29° heat made it a bit sticky but made the drinks even sweeter. I would have loved to have had some food if I hadn’t already eaten beforehand. The menu looked great!

Really cosy atmosphere, we had a really good evening. My friends are very demanding with regards to food and they were impressed with the outstanding quality of the steak pie. My cheese burger was simply amazing, all fresh ingredients. All the Covid protocol is followed accordingly by staff and clients. I felt safe. I'll definitely come back. Update 6/2021. We went back with the same group of friends for dinner in the outdoor area. The waiters pay really good attention to detail and are doing and excellent job. They did so well we decided to give an additional tip exceeding the 12.50% suggested on the bill. We really appreciated the food was brought at the same time. The quality is good, from pizzas to fish and chips, everything is excellent. Pies are available only in winter. American Express is not accepted

We had a super Sunday lunch enjoyed by all the family! It is obviously a very popular venue as it was very busy. Booking is essential to guarantee a table, and we had a bit of a wait until it was ready, but the food was worth it. I enjoyed a gorgeous scotch egg with curried mayo starter followed by lamb shank, which was delicious!

Ive been a couple of times, the beef Sunday road is very tasty but very stingy, portion wise. Plus there's always a delay getting the gravy. I tried the beef burger the other day and it was very good!

Really nice gastropub with a great outside area and friendly staff. Ordered the vegan burger with regular cheese, and it was delicious. Didn't have any cocktails there but they looked amazing as they came out.

Had a fantastic late Sunday lunch here. The staff were incredible - great service and really Accommodating for my little one. The food was delicious and we didn’t feel rushed to give our table back. I hadn’t been to this pub for quite a few years but need to come back more regularly now, it’s worth the hype!

We had to take a lady to The Royal Free hospital. In the meantime we found a parking not to far from the hospital. We found this lovely public house by chance. We were served by a lovely gentleman who even bought a carafe of water to our table. Another gentleman was telling us about the pub and was really friendly. In the little time we spent there we knew we wanted to go back again. Thank you for making 2 strangers feel so welcomed.

Great choice of beer and nice atmosphere. Pushy food service, declined a desert from a waiting staff post meal and was immediately told that table i just ate at is reserved for someone in 2 hrs. :)

Such a lovely pub. Really enjoyed the happy hour cocktails, and I ordered the pappardelle which is was DELICIOUS. My friends had the vegan burgers and they also said they were great. Our server Grace was also very lovely.

A decent pub that is generally friendly and staff nice enough, but why is it so difficult to just pop in for a pint. This place doesn’t know if it’s a restaurant or pub. The bar area is so tight that you can’t just stand at the bar for a beer. All the tables are setup for food too. If they want to be a restaurant just say so. The wings weren’t bead to be fair, but we had to sit outside on a cold day just to be accommodated. As the days wear on this becomes less and less ideal. Beer selection was pretty good, but really expensive. Won’t be hurrying back.

Had a great evening at this pub today, was there with my family and our dog. Really want to thank the lady in the blue dress who was tirelessly helping everyone including our table and smiling throughout the whole evening. I forgot to ask her name but thank you for our request for the boiled chicken! The food was also very delicious, they seem to go the extra mile with the recipes. It's a very nice menu. Drinks selection is vast. The outside seating was fantastic. One of the best pub experiences I've had in London. We'll be back all summer!

Loved it. Hannah was incredibly accommodating to my big birthday table and extremely punctual to my emails on the run up to the event which was greatly appreciated. The staff on the day were great, really attentive and lovely. Especially the bouncer who was kind and understanding to a friend who'd drank a bit too much. Really appreciated the effort by all and it made for a fantastic birthday party. Would recommend to anyone.

We were in London for a week and The Stag was our local. After a day of sightseeing, it was great to come to this pub. We were quickly recognised as returning customers and made to feel very welcome. There's a great range of beers on tap with three on regular rotation and they are well poured. Staff are friendly and meals are very good - one of the best Caesar salad we've had anywhere! And the flat iron chicken is also a great meal. Happy to recommend!

Popped in for a couple of beers on Saturday and was impressed by the beer menu!! Loads of options whatever kind of beer you like.. Service was very good and it was nice to see loads of dogs knocking around and the pub being busy.. Looked to have a large outside area at the back and I’ll deffo be back in the future to try the food at some point.. as the menu looked like it had some pretty tasty stuff on… worth a look if you are in the area for sure!

The stag got recommended to me and my partner by en ex member of staff. First impression was good, the interior was warm and welcoming with a big outdoor space. Once taken to our table we waited a while to be served. We ordered some drinks, starters and mains. The staff seemed to have a pretty poor product knowledge and we had to repeat our order a few times. Our mains arrived first before our drinks and starters. We obviously asked for our starters first to which our waiter was very surprised and asked “oh so you want your starters first?” Which seemed pretty obvious to us. We enjoyed our drinks and food once served to us. We were keen to get cocktails and dessert unfortunately our table didn’t get cleared and we weren’t offered anything else. When paying I asked for the service charge to be removed and said I wasn’t very happy with it. I believe it was a manager I was paying with as he didn’t have a uniform on, he didn’t try to find out what could be improved and just stood in silence as I paid. We’re probably not gonna come back very soon which is a shame because the food was good.

Can’t help to think something has changed recently. We used to regularly visit for the ambience and Sunday roast in the rear courtyard. The stag ale no longer on the menu, roast chicken and vege’s portion seemed much smaller and the price was £7.50 more on the menu than advertised online. Now a strange area built on at the rear which has changed the whole feel to the courtyard and the place was empty? Unfortunately won’t be our go to any more.
